I am looking to sell my nexus 4. I have unlocked the boot loader and installed cyanogenmod. Is there a way to put everything back to factory (boot loader and all) before I sell it? I bet people want to do it all.them selves. That's the fun part! Lol. Also what sort of price should go with a 16 gig with googles bumper? Thanks a lot for any info!

There is a thread stickied to the top of the general section with instructions for returning to stock. Be sure to give the buyer a receipt with your name and signature on it so that they can get the phone and warranty put in their name.
OK, thanks for the info. I don't have the receipt. I bought it in a sealed box for $475 off craigslist. Oh well I guess it may just go in my drawer and a back up/toy
Its a great device I just cannot stand the email formats, I've tried k9 mail droid gmail native mail. None seem to fit the email to the screen well. That just a bit of a deal breaker.

Really? Pinch to zoom isn't doing it for you?
It seems like I mainly have issues with HTML formating and embedded pics.
I am getting wonderful battery life though. Cm and Franco 5 hours screen time!!!
This is a great phone, I am just having a hard time adjusting to android. On iOS I could do anything that the phone/jailbreak allowed. This is my first android and I hate bugging people on here with noobish questions.
I'm still on the fact fence to be honest. I swithx between this nexus and my iPhone 5 often. This nexus by far wins on the customization aspect, I find gaming to be a bit lacking and the email clients. Those are my only 2 issues
For an android user I'm sure this is one of the best devices around, just for a noob, its a bit overwhelming.

I tried selling something on eBay for the first time recently. I even asked a friend with lots of selling experience for help. Still got boned. You may have better luck.
I'm amazed you would want to sell your Nexus 4. I used an iPhone 5 yesterday and I wasn't in the least bit impressed. Don't get me wrong. I'm not looking to turn this into a N4 vs. iPhone 5 war. But I guess that's the beauty of all these choices we have. I use what I like, and you use what you like.
Well a little insite to my home set up. I have 3 apple TVs, a 3tb time capusle, imac, and a macbook air and a Mac bookpro. I love the nexus its jus a bit overwhelming. I'm old and like super simple stuff lol.

The item was easily worth $250. I couldn't find an option to set a minimum selling price. It sold for $78. It sucked.
My friend was supposed to hop on and bid at the last minute to raise the price if no one bid higher, except he was off by 24 hours and the auction ended. Good times.
In all seriousness, ebay is set up to protect the buyer. A seller has to be very careful. All a buyer has to do is say they got an empty box or no package and PayPal refunds their money. EBay has it's uses, don't get me wrong. Just be careful. Check people's feedback and history. If something smells wrong, trust your gut.

Just ask questions. XDA isn't very newb friendly so ignore the assholes on here that will go off on you for asking any type of question. There is always someone willing to help though. People will yell all day about using search but that can be very overwhelming as well. If you searched pretty well and found nothing just ask, don't be afraid. I'm only saying this because I promise you in the end you will find your Nexus 4 and Android to be a far better option than iOS and the iPhone 5

Like using anything new it takes some time to get adjusted. When you're on the internet you have to have a thick skin so don't let anyone deter you.
Anyways try swappa.com
Well I bought a nano to micro sim adapter coming in the mail. Now I will be able to use both. When i get frustrated a can switch to the iphone until i figure out wth i did wrong on the nexus. I also got a sony google tv, and a Netgear Push2TV PTV3000 Wireless Display Adapter. Google products are a lot of fun. I was just REALLY confused.
Nexus 4 on eBay are going for about $440.

Wow.
Getting your friend to up the bid???
That sorta defeats the thrill of getting a bargain on ebay for people...
Of course you can set a minimum bid. Karma sux mate.
Lucky your friend didn't win it. Then you have to pay the sales listing cost and still have to resell the item.
I've used ebay since 2006 and never once boned
Hope everything works out, This is one of the best phones I've ever gotten, the best being going from a dumbphone to the Droid, it got me into the whole root/ROM thing, which adds insane amounts of customization. It is a bit much, but once you make your phone yours, you wouldn't trade it for anything but another Nexus.

So, as the title states, I am about to quit. I keep having problems with software and hardware alike. I'm like on my tenth NS... I think I would be leaving Android for a while too. If I returned it I would go with a BB 9780. I don't know, I would love your opinions though, because, surprisingly enough, this is a hard decision.
Thanks all.
I say sell it & get the Motorola Atrix when it comes out. It's a really powerful phone. However you might want to wait a few weeks after it's out & get as much feedback & info as possible. You never know.
Thank you, but I'm not interested in Motorola, plus, there will be phones with the same specs, if not better in the coming months. I'm just disappointed in the NS, and I want to stick with Google, they deliver the best Android experience. And I've always loved BB
Omfg a TENTH NS??! Sounds like the store got a bad batch try a different store.

Easy, killer. If you don't want it, you don't want it. No biggie.
I went through 6 of these before I found a good one.
Now that I do have a good one everything is great. Dead pixel is a problem but the volume rocker seeming loose and the screen crease are not really defects I'd say. The majority have that. If the phone is rebooting on stock 2.3 then you def got a lemon.

So a "crackberry addict"* couldn't make the switch to android. That's not surprising, it's a big paradigm shift to make.
My iPhone loving friend tried a Vibrant with Froyo and hated it no end. He couldn't make the switch either.
If you went through 10 Nexus S, and they legitimately were defective, you've had the worst luck I've ever seen anyone have with phones.
Thanks for sharing.
*crackberry addict used strictly tongue in cheek and is in no way intended to be some kind of slur
maybe try a HTC device with Froyo 2.2
like the HTC Desire Z
it's an easier switch for BB addicts, it got a real keyboard, fast, and work properly right out of the box without any customization
i'll have picked one up for myself if it came with SAMOLED

Its funny. I had a Bold 9700 and decided to get a mytouch3g 3.5MM and after about a week, sold it and went back to my blackberry bold.. I started to get the itch about 3 months later to buy a Nexus One. Had it for about 1 month and said AGAIN, not for me, and sold it. Went back to a Bold 9700...
Now, I thought about the Nexus S and said hell, why not try it out.. SOLD THE BLACKBERRY after 1 week with the Nexus. I love the nexus s..
It took me a while, but I made the jump and i'm not going back.
Blackberry Pros : Battery life is amazing, Text, Email, BBM, Can drop it off a building and still works, solid phone. KEYBOARD IS AWESOME
Cons: App Store non-existent, almost no memory built into the phones, web is horrible !! Battery Pulls, Freezing ,should I continue ?
A good friend of mine just switched from a tour to an Evo and after a week went back to the Tour.. He is already telling me he misses the web and maps from the evo.
Long story Long : See you back here in a few months when you buy the Galaxy S 2 lol
So "quit" it and be done. Why do people feel the need to announce their every thought here?

Because I value you my fellow xda members' opinions. Is that wrong?
I've had every kind of phone, whether it be Android (HTC Magic, Nexus One, Nexus S, WP7 (HD7), iPhone (1, 2, 3, & 4) , BlackBerry (8310, 8900, 9000), Nokia (N96, N97). So, it's not like this was my first Android experience and the NS killed it for me, I'm an experienced Android user, but I will be back one day when something amazing comes out. And for now I'm choosing BB for a replacement. But, I'm not a crackberry addict, I was like two years ago with the Bold 9000, maybe I will be now, but that's beside the point.
I just thought that your guys' opinions mattered, so thanks to the nice people here, and I'll be seeing you guys around later on..

my honest answer is DONT!!!!
At the moment there is to many hardware issues with the device.
-Screen separation
-Screen Flicker
-Light bleads
Imagine. on average (on xda) people are replacing their n7 about 2 times.
how much money youre going to spend on postage just to get a good unit?
Fair enough you might get a good unit at first time but you never know.
just wait till its going to be released in your country.
I was planning on buying online but decided not to just due to the cost of sending it back (for example had my Galaxy nexus shipped back twice and had to pay for it).
Oh well, I might wait.
Does these problems really occur that often

well if you look through the topics there is more issues than positive things here.
main problem on n7 is screen flickering. this is definitely hardware issue and everyone has that, however, not everyone is so OCD about it. I'm on my 3rd one now and I have screen separation (it doesnt bother me that much tho as i can sort it out myslef), however there is "microscopic" flickering. 95% of people I would show it to probably wont even notice it yet to me its just friggin pain in the ass.

Because those who are happy with their device, don't post. They're busy enjoying their devices. Don't discourage others who will more than likely get a perfect device because a select few who have problems. It is very unfortunate that you have had problems and I hope you finally get one that you are pleased with.
As for the flicker. It is not 'definitely' hardware. The one x had similar issues with the tegra 3 GPU. It was solved with an ota update. I had that issue and my one x is perfect now. We in the one x forums were certain it was hardware. Loads of flaming and difference of opinions and it was sorted with a small update - I hope you guys with issues will get the same treatment.

Well if I have to buy from eBay I might just wait till it hits Denmark, >200£ is just too expensive for my taste.
I no I no....this post is gonna receive lots of bias info but I still wanna give it a try and I hope people r honest. I have read all over in these forums, there are lots of threads like this but at points it seemed people were overly sarcastic about everything.
My contract ends in a couple of weeks. I'm gonna be switching to tmobile as its hella cheaper. Now putting specs aside, I no they are great, how is everything else in the phone.
My primary concern is the glass back. It seems like everyone is split among the issues-some have already shattered it and others haven't.
Anything else I should no before setting my mind on which phone I should get?
Thanks
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda app-developers app
Hardware is great, price is great. It appears that build quality is VERY inconsistent seeing as most of my friends and myself have seemingly perfect units, but there are still a billion new RMA threads every day. To protect the glass back it's safest to get yourself a case. If, like me, you don't like using the phone with a case on then try a pouch case to protect it in your pocket but which allows you to use it 'naked' when you want to. Mine hasn't shattered yet although there are some minute and unnoticeable scratches on the back glass; they can't be seen unless in the perfect light.
I have this phone for a few months now and I absolutely love it! It's fast it's super handsome ... it is very unique!!!
Personally I didn't have any problem with the glass... except a little scratch which I don't know what happened!! My problem with the glass is that it's super slippery! It sometimes moves even on flat surfaces like coffee table...! 2 week ago I ordered some skins for back of my phone from here:
http://dbrand.com/submodels/nexus-4/
My phone looks even better with this, looks very luxury! It has a better grip now and doesn't slip away like fish! I'm using screen protection on gorrila glass also just to avoid taking any scratch...
I didn't drop my phone on a hard floor but I did drop it on carpet and one time I kicked it and it hit the wall! Nothing happened thou
If you like taking pictures with your phone I have to say the Camera isn't the best specially in low light situations but it's not the worst either...
I like the screen better than Super Amoled cause colors are more natural but I gotta say it looks a little washed out sometimes! It could be more colorful, you can improve it with custom kernels if you are planning to root...
Everything else about this phone is 10/10... battery life, smoothness, update support, appearance and ..... I'd give this phone 9 out of 10
I was seriously considering this phone also a couple of weeks ago. Posted my thoughts on XDA and the guys convinced me to buy it. One of the best decisions ever. The phone looks stunning and the build quality is excellent on mine. So far I managed to avoid scratches by keeping the back screen protector on and putting a case on it straight away.I haven't rooted mine yet because you will get the fastest updates from Google straight. However if you do want to root it there will be a variety of alternatives available (maybe an Ubuntu OS later). So trust me it is a good phone I will give it a 9.5/10 minimum.
Don't mean to troll..still with vzw. And hella jelly of u assholes...DNA is Aiight tho...on topic was I'd buy it if I could... Might anyway!!!!

I waited to buy my n4 for a while, I mean the shortage helped but still I waited. Expandable storage being the biggest reason and the geek in me wanted to see what else would come to the market to rival the n4.....I wish I had pulled the trigger earlier. The phone is phenomenal! Best phone I've owned by far, still wish storage was expandable....I'm annoyed with Google for that and their dumb explanation, but other than that I love my phone! I got myself a heavy duty case just in case....so far so good!
Did I mention that I love this phone with all my heart lol

Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda app-developers app
Check out this video, sound isn't the best but it's still quite loud. The quality can be a bit tinny at times but normally it's OK. The biggest issue with the speakers for me is the placement as when you put the phone down on a flat surface the sound is entirely muffled (and I mean entirely, there's almost nothing coming out).
Its the best phone for the value of any smart phone and if you are going TMobile pre-paid check out Straight Talk, its basically the same service but $15 a month cheaper.

Just a comment on this, there is an idea of a "self-selection" bias. This is a forum to discuss the phone and when are people most likely to discuss something? When they have a complaint. There are likely millions of perfectly good Nexus 4s out there with owners who are blissfully unaware of what XDA is (or even what RMA means).
If you go into any forum and base your picture on complaints in a product forum youd think everything was garbage. Look at Apple forums, youd think Iphones and Ipads are nothing but terrible batteries, rattles and light bleed.
The reason your phone is good is the same reason my phone is good. The vast majority of Nexus 4s are quality.

Dunno what they mean but its still always a better value to get it from the play store, then you are not locked into the contract. You can use ST as an MNVO and get the same signal you would with T-Mobile but for $25 less (comparing to the contract plan) a month. If you do the math youd realize that the contract route costs more money.

Define "soon" . you may be waiting until around November or so. I think the back glass itself is sleek as all hell. I'm just afraid of breaking it. So I put it in a case where I don't get to enjoy its beauty.

Here's what I said in a thread of someone asking if it's worth it. Basically: you should buy it.
Johmama said:
The main pros of the Nexus 4 that I keep listing anytime I tell people about it are the following:
1. Price. $350 is pretty much half the price of any other competitor to the Nexus 4
2. Pure Android, updated directly from Google. As soon as a new version of Android is released, it's on the Nexus. Google develops Android FOR this device.
3. Design. Glass front and back, it's a solid phone. Looks sleek.
Now, newly-released phones do have slightly better hardware. But we're getting to the point of diminishing returns. We're packing so much hardware into these devices, you'll hard-pressed to find software that actually makes use of it. I think the only debate you should be having is buy the Nexus 4 now, or wait until the next Nexus comes out, possible during the holidays. That isn't to say this phone won't still be a solid phone then, but I can understand if some people wait to buy updated versions.
To answer your question: yes. It is definitely worth it. At $350, it's fiscally irresponsible NOT to buy a Nexus 4. Right now I'm paying $30/mo for a tablet plan on AT&T with 3gb of data. Having weird and crazy options like that don't seem to happen with other phones. I feel like the Nexus 4 is YOUR phone, not 80% your phone, 20% the manufacturer's.
Spoiler alert: I might be a little biased, but c'mon. It's a sweet phone.

Do it. Don't ask questions. Do it. You will NOT regret it. I've had mine for about 5 days. It's fantastic.

You're falling further behind, get it asap and let the good times roll!
Thanks everyone for replies, especially @Johmama . How's the battery life and speaker sound? I wish I could buy it now, but I have tickets to pay so I have to wait a month
Not to mention the strong development support, if you're the adventurous type it's nearly impossible to hard-brick a Nexus.
Pure Android (AOSP) is rather nice by itself and I could live with that, but I like to go custom a bit .

Well battery isn't as long as say a Galaxy S3 with a 7000mAh extended battery on it. The N4 uses a 2100mAh battery and depending on your usage, it could last maybe 4 hours of constant screen usage at full brightness (screen takes most the battery), or it can last over 21 with the occasional checking of facbook, emails, etc once every couple of hours.
Here's a screenshot when I finally got it down to zero percent. (it stayed idle overnight as I slept, and then I used it here and there during the day.)

LoL, true we may be bias, but I'll at least tell you quirks I've noticed. Even so I'd still pick an N4 unless all the other brands want to ship full AOSP at the same price and include extras like maybe a micro-SD card slot or replaceable battery . I kind of wish you could use USB-OTG without a 5V adapter, but I don't use my phone the same way I use my Tablet.

It usually lasts me the whole day until late. I'm not constantly using it, however. I'm on all stock so you'd get much better battery running a different kernel and rom

Well I'm not buying a phone of any of you, so it's not like someone has to advertise it so I'd buy it. That's why I asked in N4 forum, because all of you have N4.
Basic stuff like Wifi and 3G data have hardware or driver problems. I sometimes wish I'd paid $100 more for a phone that has had more testing/QA. (Not sure there is a better phone for only $100 more, though.) I still prefer this phone to the SGS3, which has fundamentally bad OS design and poor compatibility with third party Android builds.
I bought a new Nexus 7, returned it today due to screen problems, and ordered a new one from Best Buy that I should get tomorrow or Thursday.
I was wondering what you guys have done with your old Nexus 7 or any recommendations on what I should do with mine. Mine is 32GB and still perfectly functional. I was thinking about using it as a media server but I'm not sure how useful that would be. I'd rather not have it just sit here and collect dust.
Thanks ahead of time.
Sell it.

Give it to a tech junky. I know at least one who loves all toys *raises hand* seriously don't you have any nieces or nephews or just a little cute neighbor? If we all try we can make someone less fortunate smile with our unused toys.

Why not using it with the daydream? An expensive alarm clock with weather notifications, along with some other stuff and as such it can also collect dust!

You could use it as a permanent car mount, or a clock, or a computer remote ( unified remote works great), or just sell it.

Send it to me so I can track OTAs for it
Leave it on a park bench with a post-it-note that says "You're welcome!"...

Track OTAs? What does that mean/what is the benefit of this?
[REF] Nexus 7 Stock OTA URLs
[REF]2013 Nexus 7 Stock OTA URLs
[REF] Nexus 4 Stock OTA URLs
just a couple examples, we have threads for every single nexus device.
But we dont actually own every one, so the rest depend on random people to post.

But what benefit does this give me?
Nothing, just a suggestion
Find a less fortunate kid and give it them if you don't have your own kids or a nephew or niece... Or use it with multirom and have downloading all kind of Roms they have tons
Sent 4rm my Nexus 7 2013... It feels and looks so sexy...
Just give it to somebody you know who would use it if you don't need the money. I gave mine to my mom since she babysits my kids all the time for free.
Will give mine to my parents as well...
I say you mount it in your car for GPS/music. I don't give anything away to anyone for free ever. Except family

Try to impress a date and bring it with you on a boat, only to fall into the water (happened to me.)
But seriously,
1. Ebay if you want to sell it fast, tho you probably won't get as much as you want for it, plus ebay and paypal fees sting.
2. Craigslist if you want to risk getting robbed.
3. Give to niece/nephew if you have them as a christmas present.
4. Keep it and wait 20 years until it becomes a collectors item, then sell it for bookoo bucks!!
5. Learn to develop games/apps with it.
6. Use it as a coaster.
Is developing something you couldn't do with the new one?

I only suggest using the old one to dev on just in case something goes completely wrong and it gets ruined. I don't know much about android development, so I don't know if its even possible to brick the N7, but just as a cautionary measure, I would rather use an older device than a brand new one JUST IN CASE.
In the same boat as you, have no clue about development, was just curious. But now that I too have an old nexus lying around maybe I'll look into it!

Oh, it's possible. Believe you me, you can do it. It's just a bit harder to kill a Nexus device in most situations.
I can confirm it makes a great coaster. I'm starting to lose interest in flashing new ROMs every few months, but I may repurpose my Nexus 7 into a HUD unit of sorts to mount over my desk.
