Folio case that opens from right to left? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't think one exists yet..
What I'm looking for should be pretty obvious, most folio cases open from the right side to the left. It just seems that zero manufactures have actually made a leather flip case in this fashion. I've had a fair number of devices, and pretty much all of them had a normal case. I think it would be pretty awkward to go against muscle memory, and I don't want to have to return anything.
So I hope we can find something like this.
Wow, so I literally just found one.
But I do have a concern, if anyone has this case ( http://www.amazon.com/Nillkin-Tree-Texture-Fully-Enclosing-Google/dp/B00APK7OM2/ref=pd_cp_cps_0 ) could you let me know if the volume buttons are hard to press?

here is another one that looks to be better quality I had the nilklin but the leather started coming off on the ends of the cover
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=221188817120&var=520134401285

That one actually looks pretty good. I like how the volume/power buttons are actually cut out, rather then punched out holes.
It's pretty expensive though, I don't think I'd go much higher than $20 for a case.

Man, you should search the forum before posting. There are plenty of leather flip cases, there are even threads comparing each other. The Nilkin case have been mentioned ad infinitum in the forum. Just search Nilkin and you will find them.

Strange, OP says right to left. Nilkin or similar will do just fine.
By the way, I have had my red Nilkin case since December and quality is amazing, especially for the £10 it cost delivered. Volume buttons and power are easy to press, headphones and charger fit fine, it doesn't add much bulk to the phone, and is looks awesome.

Vinyl covers for Archos 70 and 101

Hi guys.
Check this: http://www.decalgirl.com. I know this place from some time already when I bought them for my iPod.
They make vinyl adhesive covers for almost every device in the world, and some of them look really cool, specially the rugged ones. The material (rugged) has very good quality and they send it by regular mail including a key to download the desktop wallpaper that fits EXACTLY with the design, making the customization very good.
Its very easy to place as the adhesive material which is made of can be placed and removed as many times as you need, and it will keep your device away from dirt and scratches. You can even have more than one and switch them when you want, as they're easy to remove and they can be placed again even if several days/weeks have passed.
Yesterday I went to check if they had covers for the Archos 70IT, and found they only have for the 10.1, the 4.3 and the old archos as the 7HT, that's slightly different from 70IT, so they wouldn't fit.
I posted a "Device Suggestion" asking them if they would support the Archos 70IT in a near future, and this is their reply:
We do not have that device currently. What I can do though is have it added to our list of devices to discuss with our development team.
If the device is really being marketed or we get a great response from consumers there may be a great chance we will do it.
We release about 4-5 devices per month so are always looking for devices to bring in.

Maybe if enough of us ask them to make it, they will do... I would love to get covers for the A70IT cause they make it look really cool and customized. Will anyone lend a hand and help me asking them to make it?
Cheers
I am also looking for a well fitting case for my A70IT.
But I don't like the case to cover the display as those of DecalGirl do.

Yawww... no, they don't cover the display XDDD it's just they provide a Desktop Wallpaper that matches EXACTLY with the cover, so they give that impression... but you can choose no to use that wallpaper...
Believe me, I have it for my iPod, the screen is not covered... it's just an optical illusion made by the desktop wallpaper...
However, this aren't cases... they are adhesive vinyl sheets that you stick to your device .. more like skins than cases... they won't protect the device against impacts... just against scratches and dirt...
Oh, how stupid of me.
A wallpaper is a funny idea.
Thanks for this correction and description.
I think I would rather prefer a case than a skin, but if I find your device suggestion I will support it.
Edit: Found the "Suggest a new device" dialog.

Slippy back

OK, so the Omnia 7 is my first Samsung device, always had HTC devices before (and still do).
Why the heck is it so slippy, and difficult to hold? the DesireHD (and HD2 before that and every other phone I've owned) sit quiet happily in my hand, the Omnia tries to commit suicide almost every time I hold it, and heaven help me if my hand is slightly damp!
Anyone got any decent ideas on how to make the thing more usable? is there perhaps an aftermarket battery cover that's OEM looking and slightly rubberised?
+1 - noticed this when I first got my phone but it seems to be some kind of coating that has worn off - at least my phone is far less slippery than it used to be. Tried different covers which worked ok but ended up being unhappy with the extra depth these added to the phone.
try the case mate shell, it's made of plastic so less slippery plus only adds a bit more bulk. i had the same concerns so had to buy it, and have since dropped my phone on its side directly on the pavement, and the case worked great, phone is fine.
I got myself a gelaskin, much better grip.
Got the official Samsung flip case from ebay France. Works great and is pretty slim.

Yeap, the case mate hard case is awesome. That was the first thing that i bought once i got my omnia 7.
GelaSkins FTW
REALLY annoying!
I just bought a case for £2 from Ebay!
yes indeed a very slippery phone, Im using my hd2 pouch until I can find the official case
Yes, it's a bit slick. But I've never had a problem with slippage in day to day useage. I guess it's just down to how you hold it.
Slippy i cant say. But the corved back ends up on the edges making the sides to thin to get a good grip. The problem gets escaleted with the button that is to sencetive. The total result is, you have to use the phone for a while to get used to it, and it sure takes a while. While calling there is no promblem for me, surfing, taking pictures that requers you to tilt and move the phone in your hand is the problem. And its the buttons fault.
cm case-mate offers what looks to be the best solutions. Specially the screen protector that comes with the pack is among the best i have seen. It keeps the glass look thats offerd without any screen protectors. Was also supprised how easy to mount it was.
I bought CM standard black solution, and it cured all the button problems and is now easy to hold. Its a bit ugly thou, but the plus side makes me use it. The overall experience is therefor greatly increased.
If any body tryed the "barely there" version, could you plz explain your view of experience. Does it keep the good look while offering a decient protection?
Also, does anybody experience a difference on responsivness between the back, and the search button? My back button is less sencitive and i find myself having to re press the button. While search button i so responsive i kan just stare at the button =D. Hope its not my device that is faulty.

Both have the same sensitivity for me. It could be that you're using a slightly different angle with your finger/thumb on the buttons if you're holding the phone in one hand.
No, the angle doesnt matter. :-(

Mine had the same problem, th eback button was not sensitive at all and sometimes didnt even work. I sent it back and got a replacement. Glad to say new one is Ok. I think this is a fault with some of these phones.

Atrix Build Quality

Hi All,
With the Atrix due to hit the UK soonish, I have a question about the build quality.
Now we all know Motorola make solid phones. Top quality build quality.
However...
Numerous reviews highlight the fact that for such a 'high end' phone, the all-body-plasticy-feeling just doesn't cut it. Other reviews suggest it is 'hardened plastic' and that it's not really an issue.
So what do you guys think? Has anyone dropped their Atrix? How did it survive?
Are cracks on the plastic body common?
For comparison, I currently use a HTC Legend, which is a 'one piece' body cut from a single block of aluminium, it's solid as a rock and awesome. I'm wondering how the Atrix would compare...
definitely not comparable to the phone you're using. while i dont mind the plastic back, it is a bit flimsy. however, motorola has released "rugged" battery covers which replace the stock battery cover and also cover the sides of the phone like a case as well, and it is harder thicker plastic with a rubberized outside. i'll be picking one of these up soon hopefully and when i do, i'll post something here.
The Battery cover is pathetic, an the mechanism to open too.
Sorry for my pathetic english.

Santiago - bummer not what I was hoping to hear...
The build quality is good IMO. It's definitely not rugged though. The main thing about the battery cover is that it's slippery. I almost lost grip several times just removing the Atrix from my pocket (yes hands are clean). An Incipio case fixes that problem .
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=rugged+atrix&x=0&y=0
and this place has the green one (as well as the blue and pink)
http://www.redtagcellular.com/produ...ard-Rubberized-Battery-Door-Cover,-Green.html
they end up costing about the same after shipping.
the stock battery cover really isn't that bad, definitely not a deal breaker
I have no problem with the plastic feel at all, but the lock button drives me nuts!
First of all it's too recessed, and second plenty of times when I press the unlock button phone still doesn't register.
I finally got tired and installed "No lock" just so I can unlock my phone by using the volume rockers.
IMO this is the worse lock button/switch I've ever seen on a phone which is a shame because I love the rest of it.
I'm also guessing that I'm the only one that has a problem with the lock switch since I haven't seen anyone else here really talk about it...
To me the phone is inbetween solid as a rock and satisfactory. Its heavier than most phones Ive used which makes it feel solid. But when you remove the battery cover it makes the phone feel cheap but that is done to get the phone as slim as possible.
The gorilla glass seems to be a lot stronger than what was used on the iphone 4 and doesnt scratch easily. Ive dropped my phone multiple times in its Commuter case and never had an issue. But never have I tested that without a case. IMO every smartphone should be wrapped in a case.

would rather not have a broken phone just due to dropping it. think of shelling the $30 or so for a good case as a one-payment insurance policy.

Build quality is solid and good for a plastic device. The plastic is hard and doesn't creak, though the back is somewhat flimsy. You have to lower your expectations if you're coming from an all metal device though. This obviously can't compare physically to something that's made from machined aluminium or something.
i didnt like using it until i retrained my print by swiping up instead of down, like the tutorial shows.
HTC will always have topnotch build quality....Atrix is very solid for a plastic backing. Its more solid than the Cappy

I use a cheap $4 TPU case from eBay and that makes the phone 10X better, IMO. The phone gets bulkier (of course), but it's def worth it.
As an added bonus, it makes swiping my fingerprint easier.
EDIT: Exactly what I use: http://cgi.ebay.com/TPU-Gel-SOFT-CA...815105?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item19c4325441
$2.75 for making my phone feel awesome. BTW, no, I don't sell that case. Search ebay for "Atrix TPU" and find one you like.

I actually really like the design of the battery cover. It's extremely quick to remove if needed, and the same for putting it back on. Does allow for dust to get in more easily, but also a snap to clean out if needed.
Feels just like my iPhone 3GS did for form factor, but I would say the iPhone was a wee bit more slippery due to the high gloss case finish.
Overall design and build quality are fine imo.
Many thanks for the comments thus far

Thing is, in the Android world, HTC has gained a decent reputation for build quality. But overall, (including pre-Android days) Motorola really were (are?) kings of the build quality game. Hence why comments around build quality are somewhat surprising.
It seems like most of you have cases then? I absolutely hate having a case for any phone I own, it takes away from the design lines of the phone, no to mention the weight, size, aesthetics, etc.
Maybe the question should be: do you feel the build quality is at such a poor level that you feel you *need* a case - because so many of you seem to have one!!

I typically do not like using a case. I think the build quality on the phone is great as others have mentioned previously. It certainly does not "need" a case in imho.
Go for it.

nah your not the only one. this was one of the main reasons why i sold the phone. hitting the home button required too much effort because it was so recessed.
I am coming from a Nexus One and was a little skeptical of the build quality of the Atrix. I went ahead and got the Atrix on release date, have never put a case on it, and really do like the build of it. The back cover wraps around all the corners of the phone and covers the whole back, so if you where to scratch it up you can just replace it and it will be good as new.

Targus TRUSS Leather case for ICONIA A500

Hey everyone I just picked this new leather case at my local Best Buy. I saw it online and it was already on back order but checked the local store and they had them. It fits really well and I have been waiting for a good leather case with multiple viewing angles. Just thought I would share.

It's Beautiful Widgets app with honeyclock clock skin and Oxygen HD weather skin. It works very well on my A500!
Thanks
I picked up one myself. I love it, its exactly what I wanted. My only complaint is its a little heavier then I had hoped for.
I just bought the case at my local Best Buy. So far I like it but it's kinda thick though.
I got the last one at my Best Buy. I like, the only thing that bothers me is that the front facing camera gets covered sometimes, but I just insert my stylus on that flap on the top right corner so its right under the power button and it keeps the camera in the clear.
It looks a lot better than the one that Acer made. I wish I could return the one I bought at Staples and get that one.
Isn't it covering up part of the volume down button? From the pics it looks like it is.. Can someone confirm?

Yes sir covering up the most importnant one. Volume - for recovery. But if you push on it still works. Just covers a portion of it. Still accessible love this case so far just bought it last night.
Gonna go look at it today. Looks awfully thick compared to the acer one... other than that, it looks really nice.
Are there cut-outs for the speakers?
Edit: Got it. Love it. I found that I can just press the leather strap at the top for volume down. it does slightly obscure the front camera, but it's not like I ever USE it. No one want's to see me anyway. And if I did use it.. I can just pull that strap behind the tab temporarily.
Case looks good but i am having a feeling it will add alot of bulk to the tablet
I bought one and love it. It does add bulk, but it adds protection. The case could probably protect the tablet from pretty decent drop.

I have some real nice photo's of the strap hangs behind when the case is open. (a little sarcasm there).
When the case is open, and the strap is dangling behind the tablet, it hangs EXACTLY in front of the rear facing camera. Makes it kind of odd to take picures.. have to pull the strap up and hook it over the top corner to keep it out of the way.
meh.. i guess that's not too difficult. The stand function is much more stable than the acer oem case was. I still love this.

Yeah, I returned the Acer one back to Staples a couple days after I bought it. Not only was it cheap feeling and poorly fitting, but it either shed or attracted an insane amount of dust/lint. Every time I opened it my screen was practically frosted.
So now I have this Targus case the OP bought. It's definitely protective and high quality and the built in stand is great, but it's huge. I know it is supposed to resemble a portfolio so I'm not surprised at the size. At the moment, there really isn't anything better from a reliable manufacturer, so I'll probably switch to this from my usual In-Case neoprene slipper case. I'd love a rigid, snap on style case with screen cover like their Magazine case for the iPad. Keeping my fingers crossed
based on all the positive feedback I purchase the truss case today. It is a bit bulky, but I do not mind the heft, because it gives me a good piece of mind knowing the a500 is protected. I wonder how long the elastic on the closing strap will last with it being pulled and turned around all the time. Overall, it seems to be a great case.
When open place the strap over the top. It's out of the way and keeps the tab in his case

kind of like those people that buy those cases like otter box,etc that increase the phone size by 3-5 times. i can understand if you work in construction and the like, but most people aren't construction workers.
only good thing about these kind of users is they preserve it for the person that buys them used lol.. they never really get to enjoy the full glorious phone. on my S4 i have a spigen neo hybrid, that's as far as i will go with a case, and i often go through periods where i remove the case just to really enjoy the phone's feel. typically i am pretty careful with my gadgets, but there are MANY dumb careless users like those that put their phone in their back pocket and crack the screen on day 1.

I have an HTC One M7 and while for the most part I don't use a case every once in a while I do just throw one on. It's normally one of those snap on jobs that just covers the back. I don't know if people who use cases more always have a case on? I guess if you want to protect it in case you want to sell it on later?
The thing that worries me most with cameras that stick out is the glass getting scratched
