Hey everyone I just picked this new leather case at my local Best Buy. I saw it online and it was already on back order but checked the local store and they had them. It fits really well and I have been waiting for a good leather case with multiple viewing angles. Just thought I would share.
Any Pictures?
love it
Picked up one myself and love it. Well worth 40 bucks
Here are some pictures.

It's Beautiful Widgets app with honeyclock clock skin and Oxygen HD weather skin. It works very well on my A500!
Thanks
I picked up one myself. I love it, its exactly what I wanted. My only complaint is its a little heavier then I had hoped for.
I just bought the case at my local Best Buy. So far I like it but it's kinda thick though.
I got the last one at my Best Buy. I like, the only thing that bothers me is that the front facing camera gets covered sometimes, but I just insert my stylus on that flap on the top right corner so its right under the power button and it keeps the camera in the clear.
It looks a lot better than the one that Acer made. I wish I could return the one I bought at Staples and get that one.
Isn't it covering up part of the volume down button? From the pics it looks like it is.. Can someone confirm?

Yes sir covering up the most importnant one. Volume - for recovery. But if you push on it still works. Just covers a portion of it. Still accessible love this case so far just bought it last night.
Gonna go look at it today. Looks awfully thick compared to the acer one... other than that, it looks really nice.
Are there cut-outs for the speakers?
Edit: Got it. Love it. I found that I can just press the leather strap at the top for volume down. it does slightly obscure the front camera, but it's not like I ever USE it. No one want's to see me anyway. And if I did use it.. I can just pull that strap behind the tab temporarily.
Case looks good but i am having a feeling it will add alot of bulk to the tablet
I bought one and love it. It does add bulk, but it adds protection. The case could probably protect the tablet from pretty decent drop.

I have some real nice photo's of the strap hangs behind when the case is open. (a little sarcasm there).
When the case is open, and the strap is dangling behind the tablet, it hangs EXACTLY in front of the rear facing camera. Makes it kind of odd to take picures.. have to pull the strap up and hook it over the top corner to keep it out of the way.
meh.. i guess that's not too difficult. The stand function is much more stable than the acer oem case was. I still love this.

Yeah, I returned the Acer one back to Staples a couple days after I bought it. Not only was it cheap feeling and poorly fitting, but it either shed or attracted an insane amount of dust/lint. Every time I opened it my screen was practically frosted.
So now I have this Targus case the OP bought. It's definitely protective and high quality and the built in stand is great, but it's huge. I know it is supposed to resemble a portfolio so I'm not surprised at the size. At the moment, there really isn't anything better from a reliable manufacturer, so I'll probably switch to this from my usual In-Case neoprene slipper case. I'd love a rigid, snap on style case with screen cover like their Magazine case for the iPad. Keeping my fingers crossed
based on all the positive feedback I purchase the truss case today. It is a bit bulky, but I do not mind the heft, because it gives me a good piece of mind knowing the a500 is protected. I wonder how long the elastic on the closing strap will last with it being pulled and turned around all the time. Overall, it seems to be a great case.
When open place the strap over the top. It's out of the way and keeps the tab in his case

Hi All,
With the Atrix due to hit the UK soonish, I have a question about the build quality.
Now we all know Motorola make solid phones. Top quality build quality.
However...
Numerous reviews highlight the fact that for such a 'high end' phone, the all-body-plasticy-feeling just doesn't cut it. Other reviews suggest it is 'hardened plastic' and that it's not really an issue.
So what do you guys think? Has anyone dropped their Atrix? How did it survive?
Are cracks on the plastic body common?
For comparison, I currently use a HTC Legend, which is a 'one piece' body cut from a single block of aluminium, it's solid as a rock and awesome. I'm wondering how the Atrix would compare...
definitely not comparable to the phone you're using. while i dont mind the plastic back, it is a bit flimsy. however, motorola has released "rugged" battery covers which replace the stock battery cover and also cover the sides of the phone like a case as well, and it is harder thicker plastic with a rubberized outside. i'll be picking one of these up soon hopefully and when i do, i'll post something here.
The Battery cover is pathetic, an the mechanism to open too.
Sorry for my pathetic english.

Santiago - bummer not what I was hoping to hear...
The build quality is good IMO. It's definitely not rugged though. The main thing about the battery cover is that it's slippery. I almost lost grip several times just removing the Atrix from my pocket (yes hands are clean). An Incipio case fixes that problem .
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=rugged+atrix&x=0&y=0
and this place has the green one (as well as the blue and pink)
http://www.redtagcellular.com/produ...ard-Rubberized-Battery-Door-Cover,-Green.html
they end up costing about the same after shipping.
the stock battery cover really isn't that bad, definitely not a deal breaker
I have no problem with the plastic feel at all, but the lock button drives me nuts!
First of all it's too recessed, and second plenty of times when I press the unlock button phone still doesn't register.
I finally got tired and installed "No lock" just so I can unlock my phone by using the volume rockers.
IMO this is the worse lock button/switch I've ever seen on a phone which is a shame because I love the rest of it.
I'm also guessing that I'm the only one that has a problem with the lock switch since I haven't seen anyone else here really talk about it...
To me the phone is inbetween solid as a rock and satisfactory. Its heavier than most phones Ive used which makes it feel solid. But when you remove the battery cover it makes the phone feel cheap but that is done to get the phone as slim as possible.
The gorilla glass seems to be a lot stronger than what was used on the iphone 4 and doesnt scratch easily. Ive dropped my phone multiple times in its Commuter case and never had an issue. But never have I tested that without a case. IMO every smartphone should be wrapped in a case.

+1, a case is a must.
would rather not have a broken phone just due to dropping it. think of shelling the $30 or so for a good case as a one-payment insurance policy.

Build quality is fine IMO. If u are one to use a case...the build shouldn't really matter. I use a tpu case, my Stride is solid

Build quality is solid and good for a plastic device. The plastic is hard and doesn't creak, though the back is somewhat flimsy. You have to lower your expectations if you're coming from an all metal device though. This obviously can't compare physically to something that's made from machined aluminium or something.
i didnt like using it until i retrained my print by swiping up instead of down, like the tutorial shows.
HTC will always have topnotch build quality....Atrix is very solid for a plastic backing. Its more solid than the Cappy

I use a cheap $4 TPU case from eBay and that makes the phone 10X better, IMO. The phone gets bulkier (of course), but it's def worth it.
As an added bonus, it makes swiping my fingerprint easier.
EDIT: Exactly what I use: http://cgi.ebay.com/TPU-Gel-SOFT-CA...815105?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item19c4325441
$2.75 for making my phone feel awesome. BTW, no, I don't sell that case. Search ebay for "Atrix TPU" and find one you like.

I actually really like the design of the battery cover. It's extremely quick to remove if needed, and the same for putting it back on. Does allow for dust to get in more easily, but also a snap to clean out if needed.
Feels just like my iPhone 3GS did for form factor, but I would say the iPhone was a wee bit more slippery due to the high gloss case finish.
Overall design and build quality are fine imo.
Many thanks for the comments thus far

Thing is, in the Android world, HTC has gained a decent reputation for build quality. But overall, (including pre-Android days) Motorola really were (are?) kings of the build quality game. Hence why comments around build quality are somewhat surprising.
It seems like most of you have cases then? I absolutely hate having a case for any phone I own, it takes away from the design lines of the phone, no to mention the weight, size, aesthetics, etc.
Maybe the question should be: do you feel the build quality is at such a poor level that you feel you *need* a case - because so many of you seem to have one!!

I typically do not like using a case. I think the build quality on the phone is great as others have mentioned previously. It certainly does not "need" a case in imho.
Go for it.

nah your not the only one. this was one of the main reasons why i sold the phone. hitting the home button required too much effort because it was so recessed.
I am coming from a Nexus One and was a little skeptical of the build quality of the Atrix. I went ahead and got the Atrix on release date, have never put a case on it, and really do like the build of it. The back cover wraps around all the corners of the phone and covers the whole back, so if you where to scratch it up you can just replace it and it will be good as new.

I dropped my tablet yesterday while it was inside a laptop slipcase onto concrete. Luckily, I got away with a small chip in the corner instead of full on case warping like I've been hearing. Anyway, I figure it's about time I look into a nice case with stand support. What do you guys recommend?

Don't buy the official Acer folio. I did, even after reading the crappy reviews (didn't want to wait for something else), and regret it. Crappy quality, the fit loosens so the tab tends to slide out, it covers the microphone, etc.

try this one (got it from Amazon)
rooCASE Slim-Fit (Black) Folio Case Cover with Multi Adjustable Viewing Angles for Acer Iconia Tab A500 10.1-Inch Android Tablet Wi-Fi $26.98
Just got my tpdgear leather case in today. Its great so far. All the ports are easy to access. There is no hinderance. Speakers are tucked away until you prop up the unit. When its closed, it feels like a hefty notepad. The flap is secured with an elastic bad. It feels like an executive notepad when closed tbh. In landscape mode, it has three angles. Good for typing and viewing videos. My only grip is that it extra bulk when in portrait but it can't be help with all these folio style cases.
I've uses the hard plastic version on my friend"s xoom and I like tdpgears much more. Feels better, softer and not eggshell like. I assume its better if ever dropped because its softer. Got it for 30 on eBay.

Just unboxed my rooCASE/blueREX slim.
To anyone considering the Acer case, GET THIS INSTEAD.
Looks nicer, feels nicer, and the cover actually stays closed. And cheaper.
Due to the original Acer case having a more wrap around fit (rooCASE is sort of a clip-on. See pics and you will understand), I think it might give better edge protection against drops, but if you are worried about that, get the non-slim version.
I just wanted to make a quick post to show some pictures of the new case that I got in today. I just couldn't find a whole lot of post about cases and none about this one specifically.
I'll use it for a few days to go into further detail about day to day use.
First impressions are great due to the overall look and feel of the case.
It has an awesome texture that feels like very fine sandpaper that's been used and is now smooth if that makes any sense. It also fits perfectly with a very durable and tight fit. It doesn't feel like its going to fall off or wear and lose form but only time will tell.
It also has an open top and bottom which I love simply because I can use my Audio Technica headphones again without having to take my case off every time I want to listen to music. I would love to have a closed top and bottom that also fits the headohone jack but that wishful thinking as I've yet to come across one that does.
The color is great but not the same as the picture on Amazon. It's much darker in person which isn't a bad thing just not what I expected. Even still I'm glad that I got to get a colorful case as I missed out on the Cyber Monday Moto Maker deal and had to settle for a woven white TMO Moto X. Not complaining, just kind of bummed I didn't get my custom paint job. This case is a nice alternative.
I also like that the Anker branding on the back isn't tacky and huge. Most case makers need to take a note and not slap their ugly logo or lame name all over the case and if they want too then at least make it small like Anker did. Keep it simple.
That's all I can really say at this point but will update later after a few days of use.
Here's the link in case you want to snag on for yourself:

Yeah the color looks nothing like yours. I have a case just like it but mine is from bear motion. It had more colors to choose from. I bought a gray and red/brown. I will probably get a green one soon. Very nice cases.

I actually just got them yesterday, so unsure how they will hold up. The blue looks great, I will probably purchase one in that color too. Well as long as my wife lets me. lol
These are available on ebay with no branding. I've got a black one it's nice. There's also a frosted clear case, with same form factor, which is the best case ever. Love how slim these are, and how they don't interfere with front of phone at all. Do wish they covered top and bottom though.
Anyone else notice this or is it just me? I need to get a cover for it and that will probably help a lot. It's the shape of the edges, its like they are designed to mess up my fingers. The slick back makes it harder to grip and therefore I have to hold it tighter than I would say my old kindle, thus making the ergonomics worse.

Well IMO I like the way they integrated the actual cover into the tablet itself, it makes a good stand for watching videos and stuff or playing games if you have a gamepad. As for benefits...hmm, protecting the screen may be one. I haven't seen a scratch and I've owned it for a month and a half now (my nexus 7 got hairline scratches in the first week -_-). The only problem is ergonomics, if you hold it incorrectly it makes it uncomfortable to hold after long periods of use. Overall I think its worth the buy.

Adding a decal skin to the face and back have helped immensely. Ofc, there's nothing out there that's a custom fit for the Tegra Note, so I just used a the cheapest Nexus 7 skin I could find and it's an incredibly ill fit, but it's an improvement. This tablet is really heavy as ****. I wonder who the genius engineer is that wanted a big magnet on the back cover.

Maybe you won't experience stiffness (tendonitis?) in the fingers. I didn't start to really notice this was going to be a big issue until probably a month into owning it. I'm sure there are other factors involved other than just the tablet, but I can say that I've never experienced tendonitis in my fingers before.
As far as photos, my skin looks like crap. It's all off center. If you're still interested I can post later when I get a new skin and cut it up & apply properly. I think the skin on the glass border shifts around a bit.

I think I understand where you are coming from from the fingers side... However i dont really think NVIDIA though the case through properly lol....Only for watching movies and drawing etc.. (Hands free sort of thing.... Although I play on it everyday xD)
OK my short review from having the LG G4 for 6 days now! Just as background, I luckily got the phone through a workmate i know in South Korea so the one i have is the South Korean model. Also, the South Korean version gives you something that is a bloody lifesaver and just so useful and you wish you'd always had one: an extra battery. More on that later.
So I have been using the Nexus 6 since launch and love it. To me at least it's been great – big screen, big development on XDA (I love custom roms/kernels and flashing in general) and over all a phone that i have loved. The only issues i have had really are: the screen is ok but could be better, the camera is ok and could be better and it is heavy and hefty so I use it one-handed but only just. It's a monster!
So last few months have been looking for something not quite as big with a better camera and better screen. I tried both the S6 and S6 Edge and sold them within a few days. Mostly because i think they are just too small and poky or something. S6 Edge was too sharp for me.
Along comes the G4! And if you don't want to read the boring detail below then in short: I love it and haven't really seen any faults at all.
Boring Detail:
Battery:
Here's a tricky one as i have always had decent battery on all phones i get. And all i do is read the same thing over and again on battery threads everywhere: 'i get only 2 hours Screen on Time help!' and then 'i get 7 hours Screen on Time and i'm amazing!'. The problem is the same: every person's usage pattern and apps and mobile reception is different so this all accounts for differing Screen on Time. So – FOR ME – i am getting consistently around 5 to 5.5 hours Screen on Time which is perfectly fine. So i reckon on MOST of the current flag ships you'd be getting pretty similar SOT.
However the one big bloody glaring thing about the South Korean model is that extra battery and that right there should solve pretty much ALL battery issues. So I just have the extra battery in the charging case attached to a USB cable on my computer. If I have gotten low on a day where i have the used phone a lot then 38 seconds later i have swapped batteries for the new 100% one! How good is that! Do yourself a favour and get a spare battery! No doubt they will be available shortly.
Two things that reviews are singling out as ‘cons’ which I think is just silly.
Wireless charging. I love wireless charging and until you use it a lot you don’t realise how convenient it is. I also have two Tylt Vu chargers and they are expensive so i want a device that uses wireless charging! Ok so the G4 has wireless charging CAPABILITY meaning that you need a different back than the one that comes with it and it will work.
Already LG has said that the G4 circle case will have that. So all I will be doing is waiting for the inevitable Shenzen rip off sticker that you stick inside your case that gives me wireless charging. I will give it 4 weeks max before they are on Ebay for $5.
Quick charging. There’s this boring debate that the G4 did not include Quick Charging 2.0 even though Qualcom have it in their chip. Big deal! What you do get is the 1.8 Quick Charge which isn’t quite as good but is still perfectly acceptable! In my testing it charges a bit over 1% per minute. Which is just fine.
Feel:
Sorry about the pretentious term ‘feel’ but it’s the best way of describing a major kick ass thing this phone has! It is just the BEST weight, feel and hold of any phone i’ve owned. It’s not light, it’s not heavy. It’s not small and it’s not phablety big. It is juuuuuuuust right. Dunno what it exactly is – maybe the slight bend? But it’s great.
Leather. I would never in a squillion years think i would own a leather phone or that the leather would work. But it does. Looks good, feels great, is great. Photos do not do it justice. I got the black weather which i love but if i was to buy it again the brown/tan i think could be the pick. If you get the plastic to save a few bucks then, um, don’t!
Camera:
Not going to go into detail because every review already has and i am not a manual camera person. I am Mr Point and Shoot. Suffice to say it takes very good photos. Had it over the weekend at Adelaide with relatives and photos turned out great.
Lag/Stutter/UI Blah:
Ok so on EVERY phone i own i remove the stock launcher and install an aftermarket one because guess why? They’re better. Don’t understand why people cry about the OEM launcher when the aftermarket ones are installed within 16 seconds and are better anyway.
Stutter/lag – again this is another topic that i don’t understand. I really haven’t had a phone that suffered at all from this. I ALWAYS change the animation three options to 0.5 in Developer Options and this often is more than enough. Don’t need to be rooted and takes 14 seconds – why wouldn’t you do it? In general though, i have not had stutter or lag in this phone at all.
The Knock Code to turn on screen. Sorry but every phone that doesn’t have this should get that as a ‘con’. It is just soooo convenient. Love it.
Notification shade works well. Lots of options, lots of shortcuts to choose.
Notification light – a no brainer and dunno why the Nexus 6 didn’t have it and i had to install a custom ROM to get it. It works and works fine.
Ability to change nav bar buttons around and add a couple more. Love this as i always like my back button on the right not the left.
These little customisations are what really makes the UI i think. So handy.
Display:
Great. Bright and similar when i had the S6 as a stand out. Reviews have covered it pretty well too – is an excellent colourful display. LG got it right.
Sound:
Decent! I just don’t use my phone to listen to stuff except for headphones but is loud and ok. Not as good as HTC but good for a phone.
Weird big bloody LCD density:
Here’s a weird thing which no review has mentioned which is the only thing that really annoyed me: the density is 620! Meaning that things are huge! Everything looked like a huge fonted behemoth! And without root i wasn’t able to use the easy way of changing the density via build.prop and eventually had to do it via hooking it to the PC and using Android SDK tools and change it to 540.
Overall:
Found a phone that for me at least satisfied most of what i want in a phone very well. And i haven’t even missed using a custom rom because you can’t root it yet! Never thought i’d say that. So once everyone has it in a month then hopefully development will mean it is even better!
Oh and get the effin leather purlease!!
Thank you for this nice review! Really appreciate it
That was a bloody useful review. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks. I'm on a GN4 but as usual itching for my 6 month change...
Q how is the speakerphone? GN4 is excellent. Is it loud? I was a little disappointed by the g3.
The.pixel density issue is interesting. I loved the g3, but for some reason I found it difficult to read text. Even when I changed the size. Partly it's my middle age eyesight but it's not an issue i suffer from with the galaxy note series or even s5. Could never figure out why I found the g3 difficult to read. Perhaps it's that pixel density.

Yes the speaker is definitely loud. It is on the back of the phone though and is just one speaker. I wouldn't say quality is great but definitely loud.
Yes so weird about the LCD density! But yeah if you like big text then all good.
Great review, we are all hopeful we get root, bootloader unlock and Roms as well.
After installing the alternative home launcher, have you had any issues with the Knock On or Knock Off feature?

Nope knock on/off works great still with alternative launcher.
I have read in only 1 review the leather is kind of poorly attached to the plastic back. How nice is the leather attached? Does it wrap around the edges and conceal any plastic back? Clean install?

Seriously it's great. Photos don't do it justice though. It's hard leather but looks and feels really sturdy and just matches the phone.
It doesn't wrap around all the edges though.

So what does it do? I must wrap all the way around the edges of the plastic back it is attached it? if it does not, it would peel up. I am talking about wrapping around all of the edges of the plastic back so NO plastic back is seen along the edges. Not wrapping around the entire phones back

This is great news thank you for confirming this, appears that owners of the G3 and G2 were forced to use 3rd party apps to enable one or both of those features when using an alternative home launcher. Im assuming you are using Nova Launcher, I have also always installed that stable application on top of whatever manufacturer I buy.
What is something that has surprised you the most about the G4?
Any feature or something unique from that phone that reviewers or users have not thought of bringing up?

Surprised is definitely me loving the leather when I thought it would be too garish.
The only thing reviewers haven't brought up was that annoying LCD density!

Ok yeah.... as I had expected and hoped.. it does wrap around the edges of the battery door. So, you do not see the leather end and then some plastic of the back battery door. And, agreed, and as expected, it does not wrap leather up around the edges of the phone, just the battery door - so it is a nice clean finish.

Can you expand a bit on how you addressed the density? I know you said "hooking it to the PC and using Android SDK tools and change it to 540.". I would modify in build.prop as you mentioned, but no root so no way so I am not so sure what you mean here how you accomplished this tweak.

Great thanks.. IF the opportunity arises, it would be cool to see a before and after photo of your text size density.
Can the G4 turn Chrome into a free floating window?
Great review, very informative.
I passed on the G3 after really liking the G2 mostly due to the locked BL. I hope LG provides the ability to unlock it this time around like Sony and HTC do.
Or someone here cracks it much faster than it happened on the G3 which took what seemed like forever.

Thanks for the link. Do the dock and lock screen icons work on stock launcher using this method. On the G3 they didn't scale correctly?
What buttons can you change/add to the nav bar? Can you add a menu button?
Is there any sign of the lollipop memory leak?
