Anyone managed this successfully? I changed the build.prop to 160dpi, how tablet then refuses to boot. Reflashed 4.2.2, miss my lower dpi!
On stock rom by the way.

Have you tried using a utility like this to make the changes?

Yeah, tried root toolbox pro and build.prop editor, they dont seem to gain access to the file to change it. Have you had any luck with it?
Give it a try..

OK, in case anyone else runs into this, remember to change the permissions back to 644 after you have made your changes!

I managed to change my dpi to 160 with no issues. I actually prefer it on 177.

I tried to root a galaxy tab p1010 running the irish 2.3.6 with z4root. it seemed to work for a minute and I was able to access r/w with root explorer, but now the tablet is running incredibly slowly and I have no root. any suggestions on how I can fix this (root would be nice but it doesn't really matter) are greatly appreciated. thanks in advance
i've tried uninstalling z4root, re-installing z4root and trying to root again, and trying to close everything that's currently running. nothing seems to help
Best bet is to bring back to factory through kies if you can't through setting. Never had any joy with zroot since froyo.

I haven't had a chance to update yet. I'll have to do that once I have fixed everything up. do you think that updating would undo whatever z4 did?
Yes, now rooting after will be an issue as have nit had time to this myself but it is so far quite stable

I'm on stock ROM with tablet mode enabled (changed DPI in build.prop) and this is my home screen. I really like the app launcher being the discrete little icon in the top corner but I have no idea how to change settings to get that there on another ROM. I've loaded several different ROMs but always end up restoring my backup just for that launcher!
Can anybody tell me what that is and how to configure it on other ROMs?
That's the stock launcher in tablet mode.

I knew the answer would be simple. Thank you! So if I want that on another ROM I can just extract Launcher2.apk from this one and install elsewhere? Or do I need other files too?

Just put the other rom into tablet mode via dpi and it'll do it automatically. Or use paranoid android and select everything to be tablet without changing DPI.

I had tried that on Paranoid but was still left with the phone launcher. I'm going to play around a bit tonight though. I've got 3 or 4 ROMs downloaded and I'll see which one I can make work. Thanks again.
Hey!
I can't stand the keyboard with the stock ROM so would like to replace it with the Xperia one from my Xperia P (ICS) which I think is almost perfect.
So I copied the (textinput-tng) apk from my phone over to the N7 and installed it, and all looks well; can configure the keyboard, etc.
Problem is, every time the keyboard tries to start up, it FC's
Does anyone know of any hack that'll get the keyboard working, or is it some unreconcilable differences between ICS and JB (or maybe some Sony propriety code)?
Cheers!
n.b. N7 is unlocked, rooted, on stock ROM with Clemsyn's elite kernel.

Installed the app via the apk so didn't think I'd have to change the permissions, but when I checked the file in data/app, the permissions were the same as the other files -wr-r--r--

Wait you set your DPI to 0? No wonder it bootlooped...
I'm going to try 240 or so, that's what I had on my Note 2. All you have to do is modify build.prop, I used a DPI changer on the play store though as I had issues with my root explorer changing it.
I tried texdroider dpi app from playstore, I changed it to 360 and when I rebooted I never came back. Had to do the flash back to stock process.

Same here, the only value that didn't get a bootloop is 380 DPI, anyone has any clues to this behavior ?

lol if you are root just xposed installer and app settings, then change dpi per app the way you like.
That way you can leave stock untouched

I use Font Installer on my VZW G2, and it works fine. Using the Comic font as we speak. Not sure why you're having issues with it. Using rooted Clean Rom if it matters.
