Hey!
I can't stand the keyboard with the stock ROM so would like to replace it with the Xperia one from my Xperia P (ICS) which I think is almost perfect.
So I copied the (textinput-tng) apk from my phone over to the N7 and installed it, and all looks well; can configure the keyboard, etc.
Problem is, every time the keyboard tries to start up, it FC's
Does anyone know of any hack that'll get the keyboard working, or is it some unreconcilable differences between ICS and JB (or maybe some Sony propriety code)?
Cheers!
n.b. N7 is unlocked, rooted, on stock ROM with Clemsyn's elite kernel.

Installed the app via the apk so didn't think I'd have to change the permissions, but when I checked the file in data/app, the permissions were the same as the other files -wr-r--r--

This is a flashable zip i made of all leaked stuffs from ICS
Zip was uploaded by my LG P500 average speed 30/kbs
http://www.multiupload.com/H2HGADOYGK
Zip does not haveICS Launcher Included!
The market launcher is not inside this neither is the official ,
Zip has been flashed and tested and it works, you do not need to wipe anything, but if you want to that's ok.

Good evening guys, (in Italy it's half past six p.m.) i tried the old GingerXperia v22 ROM, it's really good, it works perfectly on alfs 08 with no bugs and pretty xperia style. But two things i want to change: the MMS app, is in english, and i want put the stock gingerbread MMS app wich is italian; and the Camera, it's miui style, pretty, but it has a bug in video recording, and i want replace it with the stock camera app.
it's an odexed ROM, how to do this? just change the apps in the zip file to flash?
Good question, i use prime HD rom but i like radio apk from antchojan rom.
Enviado desde mi E15i usando Tapatalk
changing the apps wont work...radio and camera are service apps which keep on running...this should work:-
1.change the app
2.copy permissions from that rom
3.HAVNT TRIED IT BUT SHOULD WORK
(correct me if im wrong,anyone??)
hit thanks if this works...
If you have backups of the apps that you want in your ROM then what you could do is delete the original system apps and replace them with the one you want and set permissions as:
XXO
XOO
XOO

I'm on stock ROM with tablet mode enabled (changed DPI in build.prop) and this is my home screen. I really like the app launcher being the discrete little icon in the top corner but I have no idea how to change settings to get that there on another ROM. I've loaded several different ROMs but always end up restoring my backup just for that launcher!
Can anybody tell me what that is and how to configure it on other ROMs?
That's the stock launcher in tablet mode.

I knew the answer would be simple. Thank you! So if I want that on another ROM I can just extract Launcher2.apk from this one and install elsewhere? Or do I need other files too?

Just put the other rom into tablet mode via dpi and it'll do it automatically. Or use paranoid android and select everything to be tablet without changing DPI.

I had tried that on Paranoid but was still left with the phone launcher. I'm going to play around a bit tonight though. I've got 3 or 4 ROMs downloaded and I'll see which one I can make work. Thanks again.
Well, after long hours of testing lots of different "phone.apk" apps (about 30 from random posts) for the 120 DPI resolution I found the one working with the CM9 Lastkiss ROM, this one doesn't give you:
* Force closes
* Microphone problems
* Random turning on and off data
* Contacts.apk force closes

Everything is working fine.
The downloads are attached in the post, one is for you to put on "system/app" and set permissions to
Phone.apk
1.- Go to "system/app" and rename your "phone.apk" to "phone.apk.bak"
2.- Copy to "system/app"
3.- Set permissions to:
rrxx
rxxx
rxxx
4.- Reboot your phone.

Well the link someone provided here worked at 140 DPI, there was no FC. But Mic wasn't wroking.
The link attached in this thread keeps FC!!
I just like 140 too much. Will be switching to AOKP which released today, Hephappy build is awesome but I wanted 140 DPI.

Sorry, I can't upload anything ATM because I don't have an internet connection :/
But all of them are on XDA-Developers, just type the name of the theme on google and add "xda developers"
ie: "cm9_xperia_mdpi.apk xda developers"
That should bring the thread.

Are you rooted?
If yes, then placing the apk in /system/app MIGHT do it.
It's been a while since I've had to do this, so my memory is a bit hazy on if that's all you have to do.

I've done that and still no luck.
Even if I put the original back where it needs to be I'm still missing the original Samsun keyboard.
Feel like I'm missing a step or doing something wrong.
I'm using es file explorer, Root explorer enabled and changed permissions after copying to system/apps.
Any other advice, am I missing a step?
