Need get some feedback from y'all about which of the cloud synch utilities you guys prefer, and why, so I can figure out which one is for me.
I'm looking for a way to keep certain files current between my phone, laptop and desktop such as business docs (word, excel, powerpoint), appointments, contacts, and so on.
One thing that probably knocks DropBox out of contention is that the file locations for certain things (like photos) are going to be in different paths on different machines. For example, on my phone, the folder is on the card, on my laptop it's in 'My Pictures' and I also keep some images specific to clients in different places, so they don't co-mingle with my personal stuff.

I use dropbox - I like the cross-platform nature of it and (although i haven't done it yet) the ability to put stuff in public folders. I don't know about any of the others. I've looked briefly into Ubuntu One (?) but I prefer dropbox.
i'm using dropbox. never try sugarsync. my friend who tried both prefer sugarsync because it provide bigger space.
I have used both on different computers around the house. I currently use droppedboxx, which is an unfinished but still usable windows mobile version of dropbox.
It is my experience that you get more data storage with sugarsync.
I like DropBox better because I can stream my videos vs. having to DL them with SugarSync.
Dropbox all the way. Expecially if you buy extra space
Since we are going to be limited on the amount of internal space I'm curious... what type of cloud storage do you use and why?
Personally I have a box.com account because I was able to get it when it they were offering 50g free for signing up. But I know 50g won't last forever so...
What do you recommend?
Dropbox mostly. I like how well it integrates into Windows and how easy it is to share files. And so far the 7GB I have has been enough.
Might try using Google Drive a bit more.

I think my 30GB dropbox will do me nicely. Also had a box acc. with 50GB, but didnt like their 100mb upload limit.
Between Dropbox and Drive I've got 10 GB of cloud storage, free. You can up Drive storage to 25 GB for $2.49 a month.
I've got 25GB on Skydrive, 3.6GB on Dropbox and not even touched Google Drive barely. I just spread things around between them, good to have the choice.
Main one is dropbox just so easy to use though the others pretty much do things the same way now. Tend to also use it to transfer small files to my phone/tab.
Google drive I mainly use for syncing backups from Titanium backup, don't like the way you can't just download a file somewhere sensible on android without hunting through folders for where it put it.
Sugar sync mainly on PC it syncs a few specific folders for backup, photos standalone apps I never forget where I got them from etc.
Box have an account not really used it for anything.
Sky drive not really used yet
Asus sync, have the old unlimited storage plan £20ish a year thats no longer available to new customers. It has backup of most of my PC, has a stupidly slow upload speed been backing up my computer for over a year.
No need to restrict yourself to one.

I thought I was supposed to have 25 gigs also. I sighned up b4 they announced they were lowering the limit to 7 gigs. But this morning I got a notice that I'm nearing my 7 gig limit!
I use them all, and none of them work worth a **** for streaming videos.

I downloaded a trial of Just Cloud. A pop up came when the trial was over. I followed the link to an offer for 50% off. I decided against continuing when they offered 70% off and I jumped 250 GB of storage for $27 a year. The only down side if the app won't work for my Nexus, just my phone.
I have Box, SugarSync, Drive and Drop box. I need to pare this down a bit I think
I use MegaCloud. A free account gives you 8GB for files, and 8GB for backup. It's easy to earn more free GB's too, and they have a free app in the Play Store to easily transfer your stuff back and forth to the N7. If you need more storage, they also have paid accounts.

I suggest anyone to get the Pogoplug from walmart for $50 its an in house cloud device just hook up external HDD whatever size and it even has a slot for SD cards on the side. Then you can read anything off it from all devices you want to reach it. I Hare 16 Google accounts, so I get 80gb of storage on Google drive, plus 25gb on sky drive, 5gb on drop box, and another 7gb on sugar sync

I got Box, SkyDrive, Dropbox, and Drive.
and i access all of them conveniently with ES File Explorer. full copy paste download options, except, of course, Box got 100mb filesize limit. silly Box.
i use GDrive as pictures as they have unlimited pic and video storage and my RAZR does all the shooting. everything with camera i upload using desktop Picasa. unlimited. storage.
sure it has some 5Gb of misc storage too or something.
DropBox is nice for quick document multi-location work as it syncs best between desktop and phone. but 3.75Gb only (click the link on my sig! ) also use Public folder for sharing public pics for forums n whatnot... and pretty much sharing public stuff.
SkyDrive i got 25Gb and that's where i store most of my office docs and misc files.
Box i got 50Gb but with the filesize limit i use it only for Titanium Backup and a couple Android stuff (fastboot and ROM and stuff). i use GSplitter to split/unify the files.

Dropbox + ES File Explorer + MX Player. Streamed xvid avi just fine for me. need to try SkyDrive i suppose...
edit: just tried Skydrive. it doesn't support AVI. but Box.net works just fine. And Drive too. maybe ill put my movies in Drive.... hmmm....
edit: spoke too soon. Box uploaded and stream just fine. But Drive won't stream. it uploads and it looks like its playing, but i only got black screen. oh well, i can always go to G+ app and open my videos there.
Ok, so I got stuck with an 8gb model. (I got an extremely good condition one used with box/unused accessories for $285 so I won't complain too much.
The 8gb never appealed to me. Not because I need so much space, but I hate the idea of using the cloud *when* carriers are charging so much just to get 2gb-4gb of bandwith.
Well anyway, for that reasons I am using an Unlimited T-Mobile plan, and am wondering....what tips does everyone have for using the cloud to keep using all the features you want (games, music, pictures, etc.) while keeping storage available on the device?
I never used a lot of space, but I at least would always put a lot of music on my SD card and let things clutter up because I had a 32gb SD card.
So what are you guys doing?
I'm going to use Pandora/Play Music streaming for my music fix....
anybody have a good way of uploading pictures you take/deleting them automatically?

So do you think I can use Foldersync to sync with Box?
I have always had Dropbox, but I use that primarily for work and don't want to put personal stuff on it.
I have a Box account (already with 50gb from signing up way long ago) but they make you pay for syncing...

You definitly can, I tested it just to be sure. Maybe they used to charge you for syncing, I dont know, but they don't anymore. You can see what features you can use on the free plan right here: https://www.box.com/pricing/
If you want to use an alternative cloud service you can also use Google Drive or any of the other Cloudsync supported services. Box is good, use two gmail accounts with your nexus and get 100gb. Drop box is good also. I generally have around 2gbs available. I keep all things that I use most often on internal storage. Everything else on cloud/s. The 8gbs isn't that big of a deal, just makes you a little more aware of what space you have.
To keep your photo and video storage to a minimum, you can use Google+ Instant Upload. Once your photos and videos are uploaded, you can delete them from your device.
Foldersync and Box did the trick. I have 50gb on box, so I set up my picture/video folders to sync with Box then delete the content off the device after sync.
if you are keeping a stock backup, use twrp as you can compress a backup file.
leave google+ instant upload or similar on.

By default, yes. But with one of the recent updates, you now have the option of uploading at full resolution.

Good shout, didn't know about the upgraded space! Just logged in on Android app and got myself some free space, nice one!
I'd still consider drop-box if i were you. If you have camera upload enabled, even if you delete a photo after you've taken it, when you get home or connect to WiFi, the deleted photos still get uploaded. It's kinda of strange, but its always done it on my Gnex, and same thing happens on my N4, so it cant be just me.
But if you really want to keep your drop-box account for work that's fine.
To get more drop-box storage, ask any of your friends that have a fairly new HTC or Samsung device if you can log in with your drop-box account, it will give you bonus storage.
Just wondering how y'all best utilize cloud storage on your device? This will be my first phone without expandable memory so, if possible, I'd like to set things up so the phone places pictures and other media automatically in the cloud rather than on my device... if that's even possible.
Anyway, just curious how yall have things set up to best utilize the cloud.
FWIW, I have a 50gig box account... so plenty of storage room (in addition to the 64 on the phone). Just need to figure out how to best utilize it!
I have used Dropbox and Copy for backup, but they both seemed to have bugs that prevented syncing from time to time; not to mention they are only free for the first few gigs. Now I use Google Photos for photo/video and it's amazing. MUCH better than either Dropbox or Copy if not only for the stability, but also the insane search features.
For other files I will probably end up using OTG or Pushbullet (small)/Google Drive (large) just to bounce files around between devices.
My last two devices both had micro SD support (LG G3 and Moto XPE). Was able to store all my files for my phone (ROMs/music/backups/pictures/etc) on micro SD safe from wipes, resets, whatever. Just wondering what y'all use (cloud storage) or to where on the device to store important files like that for quick access.
Are there any cloud based storage services that twrp can see? I think it can see Google drive files, but not sure. I'm not familiar with what all locations get wiped or are safe from wipes.
Not a noob as I've been unlocking rooting for years, but far from an expert at it as well. I read and follow guides and educate myself as best I can and try to refrain from asking redundant stuff or just start flashing like a madman idiot and breaking things.
Still trying to grasp the whole systemless root setup with avoiding modifying system files. Can get a little tricky I tell ya. Lol

Coming from LG G4 with 32gb internal and 64gb as card i was worried but all my music I uploaded to google music (see how that goes on the underground) and I am using Google photos so all photos and videos are backed up either mobile or WiFi or both then in google photos it has an option to clear up device and it wipes all videos and photos from device which it backed up. Would never use these services usually but kind of have no choice really.
My only my concern is with the photos and videos as I create photo books and also videos of each month of the family and not tried downloading the vids and photos from the web version of photos app yet.
It maybe that I plug the phone in the computer and do it the old fasion way lol

Basically, you have:
1. Local storage - I chose 64gb, enough for me.
2. Cloud - personally I use dropbox. They start you off with 2gb and free up to 20gb. Other places may give you more 'free storage,' but come with limits - like Box gives you 50gb free, but max file size is like 250mb...
3. If you REALLY needed extended storage on the go, you can get an OTG cable and use a flash drive, if needed.

Well, I use Google for photos and music, but mainly talking about files I use for root and my ROMs. I just started using Dropbox, but in an emergency needing to access files in twrp, I can use my leaf bridge I guess. Only thing is its not usb-c so I will need to buy an adapter.

When I purchased my HTC M9 last April it came with two years of 100gb of Google Drive, so I still have that along with my 128gb 6p.
I came from a 32GB Galaxy S6 to the 64GB 6P so i have more then enough.
For cloud i used to use DropBox till my 50GB of space expired and it lowered me down to 8GB.
So now i use Google Drive since i got a free TB for buying a chromebook.
Also if you can hit 200 points on Google Maps Local Guide you get another TB

Really don't like dripbox. Find it clunky. Honestly google photos unlimited storage with photos up to 16mp and 1080p vids and google drive gives you free storage for files. Pdfs I store locally and music I use play music. With a google phone it all just works seemlesly.
I was first worried about the missing external SDCard, but so far I'm doing well with the 64gb internal storage. Since you can't trust external providers with your personal data, I recommend owncloud. Sure it's a little more complicated to install and configure correctly but you're in full control of your data and the access.

I would love the 64gb version but I managed to pick up a 32gb one for 280 so can't really com plain too much.
