I think there is something wrong with my digitizer. I'll be using the phone and the screen will act as if its being continuesly pressed somewhere else so it won't scroll and I can't hit icons until I turn it off and on again. Not soft reset. It happens almost everything time I use it. It has happened several times while writing this. Any ideas? Something under digitizer?

Take it back!
Not an option. I bought it privately.

OK, so you bought it privately and returning is not an option, so how about some more information. Has the phone been rooted? What ROM are you running? Have you tried a full wipe to see if that solves the problem?
I have had the phone for a couple months it just started doing this. I'm running liberated fr007. Rooted. Have not tried hard reset.

I thing I'm having the same problem.
My touchscreen get crazy completely randomly, sometimes I'm typing an sms and its almost imposible to write, cause it just get stuck even on the "P" letter or on the emoticons thing of the keyboard.
Sometimes I just can't switch between my homescreens (its like the thing refuses to work), what I do is switch off and on the screen (the slide to unlock works, but not the homescreens) and after several attempts it comes back to normal.
But it all started when I installed the latest version (6.1.1) of CyanogenMod.
Did anyone get a solution?
I don't want to roll back to a previous version or try another ROM.
Thanks!
Try to fix superuser permissions idk id probably just try to reinstall after clean swipe and restore everything with my backup pro. Also check the temp of the phone high temps around 100 mess up the touchscreen responding.
Signatures are fancy.
sorry... but im kind of a noob
How do I check the permisions?
What should I look for?
Thanks!

i would try doing a complete wipe and installing it again. if you've been using your phone with no errors previously, then the issues shouldn't be with your hardware but perhaps with a bad install of the current rom.

I've done that before.
But it looks like there's a new nightly version of CM... I'll give it a shot, hopefully this is gonna fix it

would love to know your outcome on this - as it is happening on my phone as well
running a FR008 - was running perfectly until early this morning - then the same behavior that you were getting.
Hi all,
My MS2 has been randomly restarting and was wondering if it (or Android in general) has a way to see what happened directly before the restart, or more helpfully, what actually caused it to restart?
It hasn't restarted on me while I use it, but seems to restart when it's just sitting around and hasn't been used for a while (ranges from 10 mins or a couple hours) - I know it restarts only by the vibrator going off a little as it boots back up.
The phone is running the stock ROM, and I don't recall installing any new apps recently that may be causing it (such as system apps or anything etc, but NFI really).
Any and all help much appreciated!
Edit: "vBulletin Message Sorry, search is temporarily unavailable. Please try again in 20-30 minutes." in before flames.
So I'm not going to read through pages and pages of posts to find one specific issue which may/may not have been asked etc.
mine restarts 4 out of 5 times i reboot, its really annoying
still dont know the cause, does it with both stock and argen2stone, so it seems like hardware
normally it boots properly when its cold
dont know if this has any relevance... but yeah
weird. im using stock 2.2 AsiaRetail firmware and i have never experienced such a problem - random reboots. perhaps you have some sort of very buggy software that you installed, or perhaps you tampered with something after rooting your phone (if you did)? in any case this is very odd, as it should not just reboot out of the blues. do check each and every downloaded software to see if that is the cause.
I don't have the same problem with UK 2.2.2 running on it.
But random restarts do exist when I was using Argen2Stone 1.8, so I don't think this is hardware problem?

actually, my phone was being pretty stubborn when i tried to root it. had to do a few battery pulls cos it never finished rooting, just kept spinning and spinning. Ive done factory restores with sbf's too, didnt seem to fix it?
I had reboots, but only very few. Not worth mentioning but it occured when I restarted the phone once. It seems to be faulty software.

what do u mean by stubborn when you tried rooting it? if your phone is still rooted, try unrooting it and see if the problem still exists

u should have used one click when z4 didnt work. i tried z4 several times, and when it just didnt root i tried one click instead. btw it really is no hassle unrooting. just click unroot on z4 if that does solve the problem, try re-rooting it, but use one click instead. i believe ur set has the RageAgainstTheCage loophole sealed too

Yeah I suspect it might be a downloaded app (hoping so anyway) but I dont want to have to uninstall everything or try a trial'n'error uninstallation process as that will take forever.
I was hoping someone would know if there are logs that show kernel panics or last processes run prior to the reboot...

I was experiencing some stuck and random reboots when I was using 2.2 with my class 10 sd card, so I decided to try the 2.2.2 sbf, and it kept the same behavior, them i saw the thread about problems with high speed cards, and since i saw it i'm using the original card and experiencing no more stuck or reboots.

try using lookout security (free)...just to see if any apps you have downloaded are contain malwares. i also heard such reboots can be caused by external wifi scanning/searching apps.
Thanks I might try lookout and see what it says...is itself trustworthy tho?
Also I dont use wifi and have it disabled.
Can anyone else offer any further suggestions?

bump...anyone know if MS2 has kernel logs or sth to help me narrow down these random restarts?
I didn't meet with random restart problem at all. using uk 2.2. only once it restarts again and again, and that turned out to be caused by my battery.
sometimes when my tombstone is too hot (above 48℃), it will shut down automaticly to cool down itself. and my battery reports a wrong value of current temperature to system sometimes, then cool down mode will be startup and shut down my phone.

Type dmesg and logcat on terminal.
Also, download live dmesg and live logcat from market, they are bootanimations with live logs apearing on the screen. Pro version suports both at the same time.

Firstly congrats. If you're seeing this post, you might have already done so or are trying to flash some custom ROM, which is absolutely ok.
Rather its fun and satisfaction that you keep your device up to date if not possible through official means. Also for some good changes.
Unfortunately, its not completely flawless. There might be some issues which are covered in the further updates of the ROMs.
Among oother small problems, one major problem I faceed when I flashed a custom ROM (actually three) is that the Android Market failed miserably when I initiated it. There were horrible search results. Also the categories were not showing the apps which would otherwise be placed under them.
Fortunately, the Android Market site was open for me which was the last option for me to go on with.
The only solution I could find to this problem was a bit of patience and some really basic info about market.
I tried to re install all the applications that were previously being shown as installed already. Though they showwed "Installed" status but you can install them again.
After a lapse of almost three days, I tried to access the Market app and it was actually accessible with all the search functionalities and EVERYTHING running smooth.
A thing I would like to advise on is try not to wipe out all the data (the 4 wipe out options while flashing) from your device. It might, might help you not to lose data and possibly, the Android Market too.
Have fun.
I've been on a custom rom for greater than a month now and have not experienced any market issues. The only problem that I've ever had was wifi stopped connecting for me. But it was an easy fix. Sorry you've had problems... Perhaps something else is to blame?

Please let me know how did you fixed this issue?
I really need to know because i have the same issue.

My Nexus 4 has been constantly crashing once I got the 4.2.2 update. Sometimes it would crash after a while in my pocket, sometimes it will crash just sitting there on the table. I have no clue what is going on as I've never dropped it, no water, no damage to it at all. Does anyone else have this problem? Should I try to get a replacement? Thanks for the help guys
Did you try rebooting your phone or factory reset, because if it happened after you updated to 4.2.2 it's software problem not a hardware problem

Yes, I tried that, but it didn't help. I don't know whether or not it happened because of the update because it's just started crashing this past week. The phone's crashed at least 5 times in the last week. I said it started after the 4.2.2 update because it's never crashed while on 4.2.1 but I was able to run 4.2.2 up til now without crashes.
Re-flash the factory image.

I've done that to no avail. I'll continue to use it for another week or so, and if I experience anymore crashes, I may call up Google for an RMA
Same here, I never had any crashes on 4.2/4.2.1 now (since 4.2.2 update) I frequently have crashes/locks...
Non-rooted, everything stock, rev 10, phone bought day one.
What sorry of crashes are you having? Doors it just randomly reboot, does it lock up, or something else?

After the update to 4.2.2, my (rather extreme) UV stopped being stable and i began to have crashes very often. Do you have it UVed at all? If not, maybe try OV a bit???
Good luck

If you did re-flash factory image and it's still crashing than that's a good reason for RMA, hopefully you've owened the phone for less than 14 days because if you owened it for more than 14 days they will redirect you to LG and thier repair process sucks
I'd say quality flash back to stock is your best option.
I know you've done that. But have you done the manual method via fastboot?
All else RMA time... LG repair process isn't that bad. Just take pictures of you packing your device up for proof

Nexus 4 crashing all the time
Hi,
Got my N4 yesterday. Booted it up, it updated itself to 4.2.2, loaded up my saved apps, started playing with it. Opened Chrome, the thing crashed and restarted. Ok, started playing again, went into settings, the thing crashed again. This went on and on yesterday. Chrome, Twitter, settings, Currents, whatever. Crash, crash, crash.
So, today I restored factory settings. Tried using it without any 3rd party apps. It crashed when I was in chrome. Then it crashed when I was in settings. So it's not about 3rd party apps, I thought. So I then installed Twitter and indeed it crashed.
So I don't know what to do now. I got this shipped to my parents in the UK but I'm in Ireland. Maybe it's got UK GSM settings? Maybe it's hardware? Maybe I should try rooting it and trying another ROM?
Any help / advice greatly appreciated.

I've been noticing this problem increase over the past few months. It started when I used navigation over longer trips like an hour. The phone would all of a sudden stop responding and then just restart. I noticed its really hot when this happens so I figure it's overheating. Recently it even happens on short trips.
I'm using triforce rom 3.1 which uses agat's kernel. I have not noticed any other restart or crashing issues aside from when I use navigation. I find it important to mention that this all occurs even if the phone is not plugged in or charging.
Has anyone else noticed something like this?
I thought about taking it to sprint since i have tep, but I figure they will either just tell me it's my fault since it's a custom rom or just offer to format the phone like they do with every other problem.
Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks for the tip. I'll have to find one that still works with my older version of the rom. If nothing else, I may just wait until I have a little more time and use a new or different rom all together and see if that makes a difference.

I just wanted to follow up and see if anyone had more suggestions or a specific kernel to try. I tried 3 different ones with the following results:
KT-SGS4-JB4.2-TW-SPR-02.20.2014 - No navigation reboots, started rebooting randomly otherwise
AGAT_GS4_v0.5.1 - Still reboots/overheats during navigation
AGAT_GS4_v0.5.2 - Still reboots/overheats during navigation
Stock. I've never had good luck on custom kernels going back to the S2 (the same devs as currently).
Really, my devices have always ran worse and with significant issues, including the one you are describing.
If that's not an option, play with the governor settings, remove any overclock, and try other ROMs.
