Hello fellow xda members. I was wondering if it's safe to overclock the, fifth companion core? Thanks in advance .

I think some kernels already do this. Not so much overclock it, but raise the speed that it will run at on its own before the other core(s) take over.

It is clocked at 500 MHz stock. Could I increase it to 700?
I wouldn't recommend something I've not tried myself. What were you going to use to overclock it?
I'd try it myself, but defo don't raise a 500mhz chip to 700 in one go, I'd start with 550 maybe then even go up 25 at a time after that, and DO NOT SET ON BOOT!!!
Doing this may save the 'big' cores kicking in when only doing light duties, like web browsing etc..
If you install trickster mood it will let you see what each core is doing. Let me know what app, or whatever you were going to use and I'd investigate too..

I have Franco R42, I mostly do Web browsing, but all the cores goes to GHz or lower. 500 MHz is not close to usable.

Isn't the LP core only used for (booting and) suspend state operations? (That is, screen off and no wake locks held anywhere)
If that is indeed the case, what would the point of this be? So the tablet emerges from suspend faster...?
" NVIDIA's innovative Variable SMP architecture (PDF 919 KB) enables four performance cores to be used for max burst, when needed, with each core independently and automatically enabled and disabled based on workload. The single battery-saver core (or companion core) handles low-power tasks like active standby, music, and video, and is transparent to the OS and applications." I have read that it should run when browsing etc

FYI LP core is disabled in Franco's kernel so even if you are changing the value in TricksterMod or his app: it isn't doing anything.
Really? Oh.. Thanks for the heads up, .

I forgot to mention it but try M-Kernel if you want the LP overclocked. Metallice overclocks it to 666mhz. Link is in my sig.
I tried, I had pretty bad battery life with it.

So guys after a lot of days testing and after i have installed some Apps and using heavy multitasking i must say this GS III has limits on heavy usage.
The reason is the limit of RAM.. yes 1 GB still is not good as we could think..if you are going to install big apps and big games.
I have found this using the web browser with some flashplayer videos without using full screen just the window.. after few minutes the video has stopped playing just listen to the audio..and the gsIII start becoming hot ..sometimes it even crashed and came back to homescreen realoading widget and so on...and i'm not using TouchWiz Natur UX (heavy launcher on usage of RAM) but the lighter and faster Nova Launcher.. i will post some screens and info to warn of this problem i found on GS III
Those are apps installed

Wait, you mentioned installed big games or apps posing a problem for 1gig o ram but then you switch topics to flash videos in the browser? Are these heavy apps running in the background as well at the same time?

Same experience here. Flash vids freezing, black screen, briwsing quiting to home screen, music player quiting in background, longerwebpages not loading fully and the dreaded homescreen restarts. The experience comes up short compared to last years sgs2 and note on gingerbread.
It sounds more like Flash player is the problem or possibly the browser. Try another browser.
Well that doesn't sound promising. Seems like the phone works wonderful at first, but degrades quickly

You guys just figure this out now? No offence intended but only 1GB of ram was obvious to me that this issue was going to occur. Of the 1GB 1/3 is taken for the system and an almost another 1/3 by the video card your then left with barley over a 3rd for yourself. Come June 20th ill be very happy to get the 2GB NA model. Like I said no offence but I saw this coming.

Mate, no offence, i'm not expert with android or any other developer stuffs but i will certainly disagree about pointing out the RAM to be the problem.
I have both SGS2 and SGS3 and as of the moment i can confidently say that when it comes to multi-tasking, my SGS2 performs better than the latter. How did i come up to it?
-->In my SGS2, I can simultaneously run my GPS on, run Sygic Navigation, play music using Poweamp, while watching Avatar HD(2GB) using the Stick it Pop up video player by MBFG, and then leave all running in background and even watch video using the Floating browser without having any problem, not to mention the live wallpaper i'm using and all the widgets running as well. And take note, both SGS2 and SGS3 have the same amount of RAM.
Right now, I'm also quite disappointed with my S3 as it locks up every now and then with just a simple usage.
My theory or say, just a guess is that, it is related with the Kernel or worst, the ROM itself. Let's just wait for the hard-working devs here to find a workaround for this matter.

I think most android devices now a days have the first adopters as true beta testers. Even the mighty iphone had its share of problems.
I'm sure an update will be on the horizon.

Your only making a fuss about it because the variant had 2gigs of ram. ICS handles all your process and kills task automatically.

Right, but how much does your gnex stock google OS use vs the GS3? You probably have a ton more free ram out of the box than the GS3 does...i guess we know why they put 2 gigs into the new (north america/japan) ones...
Also, does using a different launcher get rid of all that memory? I would think twiz is still running somewhere, just not the launcher itself, so it's still eating up ram... so once you flash a CM/AOKP, they should have this figured out...
I personally don't play much beyond angry birds / words w friends and that type of stuff, so I don't see this being an issue for me, esp with 2 gigs, but I feel your frustration, that would piss me off, spending that kinda money and having those issues.
Well US version was not even an option for many of us in USA. I wanted unlimited data and that's possible on international version only. And I have no issues with ram. Everything works perfectly smoothly for me.

The gnex is using a different soc so it's not going to be the same as the SGS3.
Honestly, we are early adopters and I'm sure Samsung is having most of us be to real beta testers so they can report bugs and fix them.

Deleted oops wrong thread.
The only reason Samsung added 2gigs of ram was to separate the competition also using the same dual-cores(one-x) . This also is used for marketing and final purchasing decisions for noobs.

It seems that stock rom goes smooth for the first months after buying the phone or wiping, but as you get a handful of apps installed soon you'll get LOTS of lag, especially on UIs, even when overclocked at 2 GHz on performance governor. Currently got 60 mbs left on internal memory and usually got 100 mbs of 'free' memory on average (cached memory fills it almost fully). Anyone?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Use Link2SD to free up internal storage. Also, stop unnecessary services from starting on boot with Autostarts. Voila

Tried that, and that. Even supercharged it. The problem is that the UIs often drop below, say 20 fps, like it's struggling to do something. For example, the Go Launcher's app drawer almost literally struggles when sliding your finger, and when taking a photo it may take up to 20 seconds to load it up, even when the microsd card I use is a class ten and I've made the sdcard cache speed tweak thingy. It only runs smooth when I don't have many apps installed, currently 9 4x4 pages of apps (about 136 apps)
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Maybe it's just your phone. Mine's running just fine, and I've installed plenty of apps.
Also, I highly advise against running at 2GHz

Really? I'm on stock with 280 apps and an alt UI with no tweaks and it seems my entire YouTube channel thinks my Xperia Play's on drugs for being so smooth.
I have been looking at the few available ROMs but figured I'd ask those who have already flashed them.
The N10 sits at 1gb of usage after a fresh boot leavjng 400-500gb free for everything else. This is normally more than enough...but I like to hook it up to my TV and play games with six axis. This automatically shoots the usage up to 1.3-1.4gb of memory, sometimes leaving me with 50mb free...causing crashes.
Just curious if any app has lowered the ram usage on startup? I disabled everything I could and only use one home screen and minimal widgets so ive done all I can :-/.

I'm using pa3.56 with stock kenel. No complaints, well worth the money. I even stopped using it on the comp. Not as many features as it does tho. The touch interface is really nice to work with and makes it so much easier in my opinion.
As far as the app itself, no slow downs, stutters, hiccups or force closes. Best used with actual headphones not the ear buds or apple. I'm just using a pair of $20 dollar Sony studio headphones with no complaints.

I'll flash a kernel tomorrow if no one else gets to it. I used to flash them but kinda got pointless considering I'm not power hungry with my n7 lol. Any particular kernel you want me to try? I already have Franco and bricked.

Try m-kernel, once i finish moving into my new place and get settled with my finances i really want to buy fl studio and play around with it, i remember making some sweet stuff a few years back on PC, I'm excited to see what they have brought to the table with a mobile app.

Well, it wasn't horrible, but not to keep with the kernel. Going back to stock.
I noticed the app did take longer to load, maybe by a few seconds. When I was dragging tracks over to loop longer I noticed it doubled the track a few times. I experienced a few hiccups in time where I couldn't keep the beat playing piano.
Over all, the app is great and can't wait for the update where you can add your own stuff like the guitar. But the developer is right about kernels causing an issue. I can vouch custom ROMs don't at least.

Anyone able to play this on their N10? It causes mine to freeze and reboot. I am on Vanir, but tried it on Buttered Manta and Dalingrin's rooted stock to no avail. It seems like I'm not the only one with the problem when looking at reviews on Play, but I did find a few blog comments where people claim it runs great on the N10. So, if anyone knows the secret to getting this working, please share.

Hi, I am on Stock ROM 4.3 with KTmanta kernel. My governor is "pegasusq", scheduler is "Sio", Max CPU frequency capped at 1300 Mhz. CPU undervolted, starting at 710 mV. GPU settings are Un-Tweaked. With these settings, Dead Trigger 2 runs "Butter Smooth", both with Low and High detail. I don't play games really, but the initial impression about DT-2 is that the Graphics are simply amazing, even better than NOVA! I JUST LOVE MY NEXUS 10
