I just recieved a USB adapter that I bought from eBay ( http://www.ebay.ca/itm/200864679193?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 )
I have tried connecting a few USBs but none of them are working. It just says USB Connector connected. When i connected a logitech controller it gave me an error message that it was a high powered device. Not sure if there is something wrong with the adapter or if I need to instal additional drivers/apps to help with the mounting, or maybe change a few settings.
Can anyone verify if they can mount USBs on JB?

Nvm, I got it to work. Found a clue on a different seller's ebay page.
All you need to do is connect the cable to your device and restart it. Once it restarts, take off the cable and connect the desired USB device and connect the cable back.
Also, make sure your USB is formatted as FAT32.
This is what I found on the web:
" By default the Android device supports the FAT32 format only. If your flash drive is in NTFS
format, it will be seen as a blank drive.
For the first time to use the OTG cable, please connect the cable with your phone and restart the
phone. (Before you use USB devices to connect your phone, please firstly connect the USB
devices with the cable, then connect your phone.)
When you need to change USB devices, please unplug the OTG cable from mobile phone firstly,
then change USB devices, and plug in your phone."

hi guys
i am new to this so apprecaite your help.have been using my xda exec for about a firthinte brilliantly.however since yesterday ,when i plug the usb cable to pda nothing is happening,fone is not being recognized by pc.i tried different cables and diferent pc's to no avail.the pda does not even charge via usb cable.
however it charges normally via wall charger.
do you think I bust the connector,could it be fixed?
hi heres what you can do to see it your usb still works
1. have a storage card sd/mmc if you dont have one borrow one
2. download softtick 2 from http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YPH5DW4I or wm5storage you choose
3. connect your pda with softick installed
4.press the usb option and the sd card should display as a normal flash drive
5.if the computer recognizes it and picks it up as a flash drive then you definatly know it works properly
6. if it doesn't then you can hard reset your pda
7:if that still dont work then consult a techniian or a guru to help you open it

Hope someone can help me out here.
I am having problem with connecting the USB cable for file transfers. It was working before until tonight. I keep getting this "initialising..." on the mobile screen when the USB cable is plugged in and it keeps flashing on the screen without establishing a proper connection with the computer. Kies has already been installed on the pc. Does anyone know why it's doing this? I'm unable to transfer files now and it's a problem for me.
On another note, is it possible at all to transfer files using the USB cable without installing Kies?

Yes. Go to USB settings and select mass storage. Your GS will connect as an external drive.

hi, i recently bought this tablet. the usb (full size port) used to mount usb drives, sd cards in cameras etc and the files could be seen on the device. of late, it seems the port does not mount any device, but provides power to it(thumb drive light flashes, phone charges). the file manager( file manager hd) shows "directory empty" when i connect a usb drive and choose it. please provide me with a solution. i tried rooting and un rooting the device but the problem presists. i tried enabling and disabling usb debugging but got no results. please help.
Try grabbing USB Mount All from the market. That should fix your issues.

Try using "USB Mount All v.1.3" available on the Marketplace. However your device will lneed to be rooted to use it.
may i know as to what is a usb mount? the iconia a500 already has a full size usb port.

seems I have the same problem.
My acer wont recognise any of my drives but it will power them.
I've tried usb mount all but it doesn't help.
I'm running the virtuous 1.4rom
Any help appreciated.
I am running streakdroid 1.91 and USB only works to charge the Streak.
Nothing else happens --- I get no USB Mass storage icon and my computer does nothing when I attach either the USB cable or the home dock via USB.
Fastboot USB detect also does NOT work -- it just hangs.......
Other than charge the computer, USB does nothing!
Any ideas? Please?

Have you checked to make sure you don't have an unrecognized device in your device manager? Most of the time the problem is simply drivers, could possibly be the cable, and hopefully it's not a hardware problem
usbdisk - enables auto mounting of usb drives using host mode - also mounts ntfs drives but breaks usb to pc mounting of streaks sd card.
last time i got that issue was when i flash a new rom with the above option.hope this helps.relook into your install.txt while flashing.
I had a similar problem and I was using one of the Dell ROM's. I was never able to fix it and spent about a frustrating hour on the phone with Dell Support (them telling me that there was a problem with three different computers and suggesting that I didn't understand how to plug in a USB cable). They eventually replaced the hardware.
I've tried a couple of different micro usb OTG cables (from my Note 4) with the usb-c adapter I use with one of my chargers but I can't connect. The menu comes up asking what I want to do with the USB, I've tried MTP once or setting it as always but still nothing. With an NTFS pendrive it came up that the drive was faulty and I needed to reformat, so I figured, ok, it's not gonna work with the drive formatted in that way. But I then tried the micro sd card that was formerly in my V20 and is still formatted to FAT32 and all that happens is it connects and then ejects the drive. When I look on ES File Explorer, a drive shows up but I can't access it. The usb message continually comes up, moments after whatever I select.
I've tried reading up on this issue and the first thing people suggest is to change the otg cable (or go for a dedicated usb-c) but I've rarely seen that as a solution for this issue.
My H910 is fully stock, no root and running nougat.
