For whatever reason, my Nexus 7 does not show up in the "owned devices" section of the Google Play Web store.
I see my Galaxy Nexus and my Galaxy Tab 10.1, but for the past 2 days, my Nexus 7 hasn't shown up. (see attached image)
I've done the following:
- rebooted nexus 7 several times
- removed my google account from my nexus 7 and put it back
- wiped data/cache for play market app on nexus 7
- signed out and back in to google on multiple computers
Things to know:
- I am using the same Gmail account
- I have installed apps I've previously purchased on the device through the Nexus 7 Play Store
- I've purchased apps & music through the Nexus 7, been charged and everything
- It's been activated since Tuesday 6/19/12, so it's not a "give it time" thing
Here's an interesting example:
I purchased Paperland Live Wallpaper through Nexus 7. It installed on my Nexus 7. I went to the Play Store on the Web and Paperland only showed as purchased, because it only shows my two devices (Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy Tab 10.1), despite being purchased/installed through Nexus 7.
Help?
Are you sure you used the same Gmail account?
Also can you remotely install apps from the Play website to your Nexus 7?

Try this: On your Nexus 7 do a Clear Data on the Play Store app.

Did that too. Several times. No luck.
I'm having the same issue on my galaxy nexus. Any fixes?
Have you tried the following.
Log I to your play account on line. Click"my orders & settings"at the bottom of the page. On the next page click the settings tab at the top. Make sure you device is ticked to show in menus.

This happened to me as well and i tried everything you tried but without luck.
I had to make a factory reset, after that it worked.
Hope that helps.
Same here
I got my Nexus 7 last evening and I still cannot see the device in the web play store almost 20h later.
Fix that worked for me
Hey I had the same problem. It happened after I force stopped and cleared the data from the Google Services Framework in an attempt to receive the 4.1.2 update. Worked on my Gnex for 4.1, but removed my Nexus 7 from owned devices on the Play Store. Tried a bunch of things, but what ended up working was force stopping the Google Play Services app, then clearing the data. After that I launched the Play store again on my Nexus 7, then loaded the website on my laptop and low and behold, the tablet was back.
Now before this, I had done the same thing to the Play Store app itself with no luck. If the Google Play Services reset doesn't work however, maybe try it in concert with a Play Store reset as well. Hope this helps!
I had the same problem.
On my Nexus 7 I went inot the Google Play Store app
I click on the 3 dots in the upper right corner for the drop down list
I clicked on Accounts
I clicked on the Gmail account that I wanted to use (It was already selected)
I clicked the OK button
I went to the Google Play Website
And it showed up now.
I hope this helps someone.

By doing I factory reset it solved my problem! Annoying but it worked for me.
I had the same problem with a Nexus 4. Device did not show up on play website. What I tried:
- Cleared framework services data, play store data and download manager data.
- removed google account from device and reconnected it.
I read somewhere that you should go to "my orders & settings" on the play website, click on settings and change the nicknames of the "unknown devices" to something different (e.g. different numbers). When I did that, suddenly my Nexus appeared in play store. Maybe worth a try.
Hello guys,
So today when I tried to run the play store app, it opens and gets stuck at loading and nothing happens afterwards, internet is working fine on all other apps and play store was working fine all the time till this happened today
So I was wondering if anyone of you have experienced this and might have a fix?

im having the same problem.
wipe data, dalvik cache, recovery deleted cache partition
Delete google account then added it back.
play store works on cellular network but not wifi.
This problem came all of a sudden. i wasn't doing anything except i was in china but i still has the problem now im back.
anyone has a fix for it?
edit: i can download some selective app like instagram, worms, but not 90% of other apps via wifi
My nexus 7 just came in the mail and I'm running into error 497 on the play store while trying to update chrome, Google keyboard, and talk back. A few seconds after choosing update it'll give me this error but I've been able to download everything else with no trouble. I already tried a factory reset with no luck.. So I'm hoping someone can help me find a solution.
Is it possible that this could have anything to do with my Google account or maybe WiFi?
Edit: From searching around on the web I have found a solution that works for me. Download tunnelbear vpn from the market, make a free account, and then turn it on and connect to the US. You should now be able to download any of the apps that were giving this error. Alternatively, you can tether your phones mobile connection if data limits aren't a concern. Every other solution I have found has not worked for me including factory reset, clearing Play store data, etc, etc, but these two have. Hopefully this helps anyone else running into these issues out.
Edit : oh you did a factory reset...
Hmm dunno

Alright, so I've tried everything from clearing play store data, Google services data, wiping cache/dalvik and so on to no avail.
However, I was able to update and download apps that were giving me the error by using my phone as a wireless hotspot.. So maybe it's a problem with my internet provider. Anybody else with Comcast having this issue?

I just now experienced this same issue, and I also have Comcast. My Galaxy Nexus was able to update some apps without issue on 4G, and when I went to update my apps on the Nexus 7 it updated all but Facebook Messenger and Google Japanese keyboard support. Got error 497, cleared my cache/data/force stopped Google Play, tried again, same thing. Cleared out some other things that may have made it even worse (Google Play Services, which appears to have completely messed up my list of Installed/All apps in the Play store, oops) but still no go. Tethered the Nexus 7 to my Galaxy Nexus via Mobile hotspot, and it was able to update, but on wifi it fails. This just started happening today, and I've had my Nexus 7 for about two weeks. Not sure what's going on, and your post was one of the first things that came up when I googled it. I see a factory reset didn't help you. I really don't want to have to resort to that, but it appears it wouldn't have helped me anyway. I'm stumped.

Hi:
I have Comcast and am not having this issue. Keep us posted on your progress.
Best,
Tom
I have tried the standard google search results fix: force quit and wipe cache/ data for Google Play Store and Google Services Framework, reboot
I have tried installing the Google Play Store to the latest update using the apk.
I've tried pushing the update to the device using the online Google Play Store.
I've tried wiping the system caches.
I've reset and formatted it back to factory settings.
I've tried using different google accounts.
I tried using my wifi (custom setup of dd-wrt) as well as resetting dd-wrt back to the default settings. (Charter)
I tried tethering with my cellphone. (Sprint)
I tried a complete fastboot erase and re-flash of system, bootloader, recovery, etc.
Nothing seems to work. Next step is taking it back and trying a new one, unless someone else can think of something that I missed.
My Facebook messenger fails to update, says package file is invalid, not sure if that's my end or theirs, I'd just wait and see if the update eventually pushes through. Maybe just let it be And see if Google knows of the issue and eventually it'll update...

None of this things worked for me either except for tethering with my phone. So this leads me to believe it's a problem on Google's end and not the tablet. I would wait a little while for a fix before returning it..

How old are your comcast modem and wifi router? I had an issue where my internets stopped working because the modem was supposedly too old. I got a new modem from amazon (much better one) and now all is well. And i decided to go ahead and update my router. Its ac capable, so if anyone with a moto x or macbook pro air comes over, I will be ready for them

I'm not entirely sure but I think both are fairly new so I don't think that should be the issue. It just seems weird to me that some apps will download while others won't.

I think I have found a work around. Going to the play store on the web and pushing the app to your tablet seems to work for apps that are giving me this error. However I'm not sure if the web version will push updates or not so that could still be an issue.
Edit: try updating to the newest play store 4.3.10 that is floating around on the web. The issue seems to be resolved now, crossing my fingers.

Honestly, it was becoming really inconsistent.
After updating the Play Store using the apk, I was, again inconsistently, able to get some apps to download and install that were not previously doing so, but only after I cleared Play Store and Frameworks caches and reboot and even then only one would work before I had to clear caches all over again.
Updating the apk also changed the error I was getting for Google services (maps, music, chrome) to "Package file is invalid."

Well that is definitely not good then. I've had no issues since updating the play store but it's too early to say for sure. If I were you I would call Google support to see if they have any useful advice.

Error 492; 497; and "bad package" are all errors that I had been getting with my first device and then with my replacement.
Finally did enough searching to learn it was likely a Comcast DNS issue.
I tried everything from my office internet and it worked fine. I suspect it's why my earlier device started to go wonky because updates didn't update properly or something got corrupted.
Had this issue updating I forget what at work, it would stop at 1.38MB. Which is weird cause didn't have issues with other apps that same moment. Did a google search and tried a different wireless connection... Was able to update.
Two days after, updates apps at work, no problem. Maybe just a hiccup.

Just got my new Nexus 7 tablet , so happy!! Problem is that almost every other app I try to download from play store tells me "package invalid"..this happened after OTA to 4.3, Netflix, Instagram, Dropbox, are some of the apps I get that message. I tried clearing data in Play store and Google Framework..and even a factory restore..Nothing works..could this be an issue with 4.3?
I had same when the 4.3 happened...I started researching but then the next morning it had fixed itself. Leave it on for a while and plugged in...the same may happen with you. You'll love the N7...best tablet of all.
Same thing was happening to me. A fix I found was to download Hideman VPN from the Play Store and use Canadian server with it. It's not the most elegant solution but it's working until I can come up with something else.
Just wondering, did this start happening after you flashed CM10.2?

Remove your Google acct then re-add it, always fixes for me.
Just got a new nexus 7 to go along with my nexus 4. Seem to be having an issue with Google now on the nexus 4 since getting the 7 and logging in with the same gmail account. My nexus 4 seems to keep losing location when opening google now. If I open maps and re locate myself Google now works again with travel card etc.
Anyone running both devices and got any tips for maintaining Google now on both
I've never seen that but I have turned off location reporting on my n7 since its not always with me or doesn't always have internet service

I have both and have never had an issue with both being logged into Google Now. I assume you didn't clear your google services framework recently (trying to get the latest update) because doing that can screw up location reporting.
