Goodbye my beloved x10 - XPERIA X10 General

Today is a very dark day! A doomsday in retrospect as I have by no fault of my own dropped my X10i down the toilet! It doesn't turn on and I don't even get a light. I
Have had it since 2010 and not a scratch on it but all is lost due to the monster in the loo!
I have had many good memories and have met a lot of friends but my insurance have assured me that I would not get another x10i due to Sony erriccson not existing so I must say goodbye to the x10
I would like to thank oodie for his awesome miui, wolfbreak for his gaming rom and free xperia team and all other devs for there awesome work and all the fixes which has enabled the x10 to still be living on
however mine is not I wish the x10i as many updates and a long life.

Dont give up just yet.. You should've not attempted to turn it on immediately after soaking but you might still try putting it in a pack of rice (I know it came from the loo and putting it in some rice is not a good idea) for a week to soak up the moisture and then try booting it up..

well for me it happen when my friends push me to the pool of 6 foot deep the phone drown and manage to get it back. luck that i know how to swim:victory: for 5 days the phone was in a bowl of rice.

It was already on when it went in and it took half an hour to find it looks like there's liquid between the digitizer and won't even charge I think its definitely dead

I dropped my first x10 down the toilet too, it must be a common problem, it didn't work either so I rang the insurance up for a new one but it had dried out and started working by the time it'd been delivered. I still got the new one because I didn't really fancy a phone that'd been down the toilet though.
The next phone I lost walking my dog in the snow, so I rang up the insurance company to get a new one and, by some sort of miracle, I found it again about 2 weeks later, so I took it home, dried it out because the snow had melted by then and it still worked!
So you never know, all hope might not be lost.

It's never goodbye, it's just until we meet again.
Xperia X10 Disassembly Guide
I've pulled my XPERIA X10i apart to repair( I do have correct tools) a 'stuck' microSIM and it's SIM card adapter and it's not to hard and gives better access to dry out parts.
This should NOT be attempted if you have no experience in disassembling and reassembly of a cell phone and/or the phone is under warranty or has insurance.
How to Save a Wet Cell Phone

Thank you so much to you all for your advice but its definitely caput! Its been out for a day now and it still has water between the screen and digitiser and as it was there for half an hour so its a lost cause! The worst thing is I kept it immaculate condition it no scuffs scratches and my Mrs actually called it my second woman as i looked after it better than her and after 3 years it was still like new. Anyway I am not leaving xda I have a nexus 7 and I will soon have a new android 'wife' I just hope it will keep me as happy as my x10 did
However if the insurance offer a cash settlement I might go for another x10

First things to do when u accidentally bath your phone is pull out the battery, do not turn it on. Until it dries out.

AW: Goodbye my beloved x10
build it into the single parts. there are many instructions on this on youtube. then you can dry the screen and let it be for a week or better more in rice and afterwards build it together again.
Then it could work again.

Just dropped phone in toilet!

It was submerge for about 3 seconds... but the worst part is that there was excriment in the toilet, so the feces got into the cracks and the cover.
What should I do? I heard putting it in pasta? Does it have to be uncooked? Because I just boiled the last of mine.
Thanks for any help/ideas

Agreed and then use a cotton swap to try and get as much of the poo out of the cracks and crevices.
Well I had some ****ty Chinese food so its less poo, and more liquid ****. Not sure if I'll ever be able to get smell out.

DO NOT PUT ON RICE!
I dropped mine one week ago, put in rice and mine still died. Buy a T5 and OPEN IT ASAP you can and clean it with Isopropyl alcohol...
OR CORROSION WILL MAKE YOUR PHONE DIE.
Now, i'm without phone, spend $800 dollars on it and it makes me happy just for 1 mouth... and i CANT buy this fuc*** phone again, i was with money on my bed for 1 year to buy a good phone... i'm from brazil and here we dont have much money like americans that can buy the phone for 0.1 cent....
After you clean it, you can put on rice... but CLEAN IT FIRST... search my posts and see the result of my drop on toilet... and mine was just water and uric acid.
Ummm...what the were you so urgently doing on your phone while over a toilet full of boo-boo?! LoL! (Nevermind, don't wanna know.)

Phone Fails!

I thought it would be fun to share some stories about phone fails! whether that be development that went wrong or accidents or embarrassing stories involving your phone. I'll start...
I used to be in the Army and one day while on exercise in Scotland, I was running and tripped. I slid for about 10 metres on my front with everyone laughing at me. I didnt realise until i got back to my room that my phone had been in my chest pocket and was now smashed to smithereens .. That weekend i went to buy a new phone, i needed one because i was going on exercise again for 3 days. I decided on the old Sony with the sliding shutter on the back (i forget the model number). it was a great little phone. I spent the whole night in my trench watching videos on my new phone, so happy. The next day we were going back to camp so we packed our stuff, filled in our trenches again and headed off. It was only when I was unpacking my kit back at camp that I realised my phone had fallen out of my pocket in my trench, I had buried it under six feet of dirt and the next day i was shopping for a phone (for the second time in a week!) epic fail
i think it would be great if others could share their experiences here! i'd love to know im not the only idiot in the G3 forum!
Oh no.
I remember the times when I was extremelly adicted to xda (not that i am not). I used to download each and every rom and would flash it just too see something new.
I remember the time when i flashed some stock rom. I left the computer while the odin fladh thing was completeing. When i came back, i saw my little brother had disconnected the usb eventhough the flash process wasnt complete.
I was SO scared cause it had a bootloader and if you interrupt the flash you brick your phone. It hadn't been a month since i had the phone and i imagined what would be my father's reaction
Moreover it would be hard to explain him what had really happened as he doesnt know anything of this.
I secretly went to samsung centre and those idiots said my mother board had a problem. I hardly beileved this so i came back to xda.
Finally i found an unbricking program which worked flawlessly.
But yeah, lesson learnt. Now i always stay near the phone until i see the "pass"screen.

Had the trustworthy Nokia 6233 before this awesome G3!
Anyways once had gone for a picnic to a nearby beach. We hadn't planned on getting into the water; just have a good lunch, play a little and head back home. But well the obvious happened and we did get into the water. I handed my 6233 to a friend of mine who was just sitting on a rock nearby (not in the water though) Had a lot of fun, with absolutely no concern for the world! That's when my sister pointed out that the friend who I'd given my mobile to, was also in the water!!
Oh, shattered, completely. Took the phone, opened it up, removed the battery and kept it for drying for 2 days. Alas it didn't boot ever again
But as they say everything happens for a reason. Went out and got G3 and like they say the rest is history

Sony SAT returns my phone.....they broke a lot of things...

After one month sony sat Stella in Madrid returns my xperia Arc by mail. They have repaired the crack near the sensor, but broken a lot of things:
- Dust in the screen under the cover, and glue marks.

http://imageshack.us/a/img5/3789/mg1041g.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img20/9369/mg1042g.jpg
- Earspeaker sound distorted
- I can´t see one of the two leds of the keys.
http://imageshack.us/a/img20/6620/mg1044z.jpg
- A bad tightened screw don´t let me close the battery cover properly.

Probably i will buy a new phone, very upset with my arc and sony

Yes,return it back to sony ,shame on the technician who worked on it !!

nice. that just shows how many soppurt they got for our old devices.
i think i´ll stay away from sony from now. they´re producing more devices as they can handle to do good software updates. even in our updated 1.13 ICS release the notification led is not working and our device is over 2 years old now.

SMASHED SCREEN!!! doh

Right, I got me s4 on release day in UK (well 27th noth 26th), all was good until tonight, I just got me s3 back from a mate today who put a new front glass on it (broke in my pocket a couple a months ago but was usable, cost me £12 for glass and £20 to get fitted)
Sat down on sofa tonight and heard a cracking noise, took my s4 outta me pocket and the bottom 3/4 of the screen was black. Samsung phones build quality is s****, don't get me wrong I'm the biggest Samsung fan there is, it's the only tv or phones in my house but to break in my pocket after 2 weeks. NOT ON.
The good news is I contacted O2 uk straight away and they have a new phone on the way since its insided the 28 days from purchase. You can guess I've ordered a few cases to protect it but if its gonna break with a bit of stress in your pocket no case will save it.
I know your bound to be thinking "this mad man must haved a screw driver or sum other sharp instrument in his pockets" but I don't, just my wallet and maybe a few loose coins.
Anyone else have any issues like me or am I the only one.
Cheers,
Glynn

Thank god it happened within the first 28 days, at least now I know how vulnerable it is to fat b**tards and can get the biggest rubberised case I can find. Sort of defeats the purpose of having a slim sleek phone but I don't wani be landed with a £2 or £300 bill to fix it the second time round

You are not the first one to mention your screen cracked simply from having the phone in your pocket. A few pages back you find this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2260083
Note they mention it's the LCD itself that shattered, not the Gorilla Glass. At this point I could not buy an S4 without constantly worrying about my device. I will see what phones the late summer/fall will bring.
Too much surface glass on this device for a pocket. That 5" display and a small bezel is a fragile combination.

IMHO.
I'm one of the others who's LCD cracked while phone was in pocket, but three said they would charge me just to look at it, then charge me again as is physical damage and was fine for the first week!
I've now sent it back to Samsung, who have said they will charge me to fix it, still waiting on the quote!
So your very lucky O2 are shipping you a new phone.
As probably 80% of phone owners carry their phones in their pockets, it's very worrying that Samsung seem to have made a phone that can easily break if carried that way!

Quick update I phoned Samsung this morning was told their service center has informed them that my phone is fine! I guess they had a quick look saw the glass wasn't cracked and decided its fine without even turning it on or looking at it from different angles! I'll find out more on Monday when I the service center is open

That's quite odd
Was there anything else in the pocket? Or just the phone?
Not doubting what you're saying, just trying to think of what could have caused it and what to try and avoid when I get mine
This is kind of worrisome since I'm planning on getting an S4 soon and always keep my phone in my pocket.
