[Q] HTC HD2 ROM FLASH Problem - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hello there,
I have a HD2 with MAGLDR 1.13 and a 2.3.5 Android ROM (don't know what is). I cant seem to find any rom with the DAF.exe for use in the USB Flasher mode (nº 4) (following the Newbs Tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893948 - Point 3. FLASHING A NEW NAND ANDROID ROM OVER A PREVIOUS ONE).
I want to put a newer ROM on the phone. Can you tell what I need to do, please? Basic steps/tutorial link?
Thank you so much.

that thread you linked to will tell you all you need to know
99.9 percent of the roms now are flashed thru CWM and there is a link for it right at the top of his thread
in fact i dont know of any new roms that use the daf.exe anymore

Actually you should follow the guide in my sig, which is basically an updated version of the one you linked

errr, , , , when you select 8 AD recovery, , does cwm load? if it does, then yes you do, if it doesnt, no you dont.

You can't check the partition size in CWM as far as I know, just flash CWM again with the correct partition size and carry on with the installation procedure.

AD SD Booting not working :(

Hello,
I have installed Magldr 1.3 + NANRDOID MDJ 2.6 ..
I am unable to go to the boot from ad sd option ... As in if i have to update any .zip file .. and I choose the option for ad sd boot .. it will get stuck in GO GO GO screen ..
Please help me ..
I have used task 29 and installed everything again ..
NOTE : I have installed a new sd card and updated the recover_250 file also.
Thanks ...
Have you installed a CWM 1.3 partition? You need to flash a partition from here to provide you with CWM Recovery. I know you say you have a recover_250 file, but is it the latest version?
To go to CWM you need to select the AD Recovery option not Boot AD SD.

If you are using magldr 1.13 with cwm 1.3 partitions you no longer go to Boot AD SD. To enter CWM you need to go to AD Recovery on magldr menu.
I had the same problem.
but now i have another problem which recovery should i take? 150 250 400???

This depends on what ROM you want to install using CWM. A large ROM like a Desire HD build requires more then a light ROM with only the essentials baked in. If you really aren't sure what to flash just check the guide accompanied with the ROM.
does this mean that I have to install CWM every time i want to install another ROM??

Technically, no. Not unless the partition layouts for the different ROM's you are trying are different and in turn they require you to run DAF (which re-partitions your NAND storage).
If they are the same then your partition layout won't be changed and your recovery partition, which is where CWM resides, won't be affected at all when switching ROM's.
but i could also install the biggest one(400) and everything would work because I can't have a too small partition???
could that work??

[Q] how to install TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 nand

can anyone help me installing this, i have installed other rom before but i don't understand how to do whit this one.
i got MAGLDR on my phone and then i gonna download this verison http://www.multiupload.com/11VO5R7EM4
Right?
and load in to usb loader in MAGLDR and then what, how do i use the files in the zip i have download? use costumruu ? or how
You have to flash clockworkmod (short CWM).
With cwm you can flash zips to your nand and also make backups:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=987531
Code:
For MAGLDR 1.13, booting from NAND:
Download the file attached and named "magldr_recovery_3.0.2.5.zip"
Download a partition layout incl. recovery from [URL="http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898913"]this thread[/URL] which fits your ROM you want to use best and unzip it into "C:\recovery" for example
Copy over "magldr_recovery.img" from inside the zip archive into this folder "C:\recovery", delete existing "recovery-raw.img" and rename "magldr_recovery_3.0.2.5.img" to "recovery-raw.img"
Flash the recovery and partition layout using "DAF.exe" as usual and described in the thread of raiderx or the ROM provider
Boot Recovery with menu point "8. AD Recovery"
You're done

I take it u want to install TyphooN_CM7_v3.1.3 rom?...Then simply visit the ROM's thread for clear instructions on how to successfully flash it...Its quite straight-forward.
Clean Install MAGLDR:
1. Task 29 (Just for measure)
2. Flash Radio(2.15 Recommended if u haven't alrd done so)
3. MAGLDR 1.13
4. MAGLDR 130MB System/4MB Cache (ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.2.4)
5. Install TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 .zip with CWM (boot in2 MAGLDR, select AD Recovery > Select Zip to install from SD card, Flash.)
i succeed install the rom. but now i am stuck on the Typhoon loading screen

You might have done something wrong along the way...Wat steps did take to flash the ROM? ...d kernel included in the ROM usually doesn't give problems as its been tested before release...did u flash another?
Yes i flashed hyperdroid and it worked, so i don't understand why it's getting stuck on boot with typhoon
Try the steps mentioned above by " voncrane " , make sure u do a task29 before everything and when u enter the recovery wipe full data / it should work if u follow the steps .

[Q] Can someone help me... please..

I'm here with one week old HTC HD2 (TMOUS) unlocked version (from BestBuy). I bought this to install Android. But after reading/searching hours and hours about installing instructions, I'm kinda confused now. I can install but don't know which one to begin and what goes after... pretty much the order of installation.
Currently, I have,
Windows Mobile 6.5 stock ROM
RAM 567MB
Flash memory size 1024MB
ROM version 3.14.531.1(04666) WWE
Radio version 2.15.50.14 (do I need to reflash radio?)
Manila version 2.5.20181424.0
Do I need to re-flash Radio?
I prefer to install cLK bootloader after reading 'senior member T-Macgnolia's' tutorial. Can someone kindly tell me, what to install and in which order?
How do I find cLK versions of HD2 Android ROM's? Any suggestions for better ROM?
Hi!!!
I don't use clk, I prefer magldr, but this is a guide to use clk:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901305
hope it'll help you, otherwise someone else can help you better than me.
Your radio version I think is correct, I use it too, like all other people I think...
You find clk version of HD2 rom's generally in first posts of thread about NAND rom in HD2 Android NAND Development:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=928
Roms: if you want a Sense rom, this is the best in my hopinion, very fast and smooth for a sense rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1250703
I actually use this, has some problems (bluetooth, camera) but I like it very very much...
Otherwise, if you prefer non-sense rom, this is the best in my hopinion:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933951
Your radio is correct, but you should flash HSPL before you flash custom WM ROMS or android builds. Ensure you flash the correct version of HSPL for your TMOUS. And as for the better builds, you should try them out yourself. It really depends on what you want.Sense,CM7,MIUI,MAGLDR,CLK...

Try reading the guides in the sitckies of the NAND Android forum, especially MSkip's tutorial on how to flash NAND Android with Clockwork Mod.
Your radio is correct.
Install HardSPL (HSPL) 2.08 first.
Then install MAGLDR (I would recommend this as it's easier than CLK from what I've read.)
Select your ROM (don't flash yet)
In the OP of the ROM there will be guides as to which CWM partition you need etc, just download the right partition size and flash it. One of the reasons I recommend MSkip's tutorial is that all of the files are at the bottom of the post.
Flash the ROM via CWM.
Seeing as in the OP you said you understand how to flash the things, you should understand that I hope. Good Luck.
Thanks Ty5982, I followed one guide and installed cyanogenmod 7 ROM. What I did was
HSPL 2.08
(didn't touch radio since it's correct)
MAGLDR Bootloader 1.13
ClockworkMod Recovery v1.3 (made v1.3 150MB partition)
then went to 8. AD Recovery and installed ROM on the SD card using ClockworkMod Recovery.
As you said now I'm really interested about PYRAMID ROM since it has SENSE. Can you please tell me where to start with now?
Do I have to remove 'ClockworkMod Recovery'? or do I need to install RECOVERY 2.4?

Thanks for the instructions (hit the button ) and I greatly appreciate it. When I change FLASH file, how important is that numbers and how it change the behavior of my ROM?
I'm asking because I saw your first reply and went to SENSE 3.0 PYRAMID V 6.0 ROM and installed it. But original thread instruct to change " system ya 160M " and yours 180M.
Some how I managed to install it and first it was okay but I noticed ROM is kind of slow and Wi-Fi didn't work.
Any help with that issue??? (anyway I'm gonna re-flash it with your instructions)

Dont worry man, once you install CWM, you will be able to install a NAND rom of your choice on the internal memory of your phone. The rom you install will have everything eg. kernels, scripts. Basically all you need to do is install CWM then install a rom of your choice. Here is a guide to do install clockworkmod(CWM)
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile...kmod-recovery-on-android-htc-hd2-with-magldr/
and here is how to install a rom using clockworkmod
1. turn off you phone
2. turn it on while keeping the power button pressed (dont let go until you see the MAGLDR menu)
3. Go to option 8 "AD recovery"
4. You will boot into clockworkmod
5. Go to mounts and storage
6. Mount the sd card(connect your phone to the pc via usb cable, and then select this option)
7. Place your downloaded rom .zip file on the sd card, root level
8. unmount your fone.
9. Go to "install zip from sd card option"
10. then select "choose zip from sd card"
11. Select the rom.
12. The rom will be installed on your fones internal memory.
13. When it is done, just reboot your phone.
14. ENJOY
NOTE: Remember to choose the correct partition size when selecting which clockworkmod to install. there are 150mb, 250mb and 400mb partitions available. The procedure to install them is the same.
Hope it helps.

Yeah, follow ^his guide. In case you get lost and want more detail, follow this guide. It also includes things such as partitioning the SD if needed.
When he talks about partition sizes, you need to look at the first post of the ROM you want to flash, and see what it says. Then use either the HD2 NAND Toolkit to flash that size, or do the following:
1. Download a CWM file (e.g. the ones at the bottom of the guide I posted)
2. Open the folder
3. Find flash.cfg (not flash.cfg.txt) and open it with notepad
4. Change the system value to the one stated in the OP
5. Save the file
6. Go to USB Flasher in MAGLDR
7. Connect phone to PC
8. Run Daf.exe in the CWM folder
9. Boot into CWM and follow the steps by adil1508 or the guide I posted to flash a ROM.

I genuinely cannot make it any simpler than this guide. When it says flash the correct partition size, use the HD2 NAND Toolkit to flash a 175mb partition.

Every single rom stuck at its logo.

Hey guys, i got here a hd2 with HSPL 2.08, aMAGLDR V1.13 build: 1st feb. 2011 and CWM Recovery v3.0.0.5. The problem is - few hours ago i had some old android version, so i decided to upgrade. I downloaded a few rom's and none of them worked. The version of the old android was 2(point) something, gingerbread. I tryed to install : touchwiz, Slimroms_LeoV7.2, Sea_JB V.2B, NexusHD2-JellyBean-CM10.1_V2.3 and one more Jelly Bean. None of them worked! Every single one of them got stuck by the logo of the rom. What am i doing wrong? Please help me, guys!

The EU model. (i'm not sure i understood your second question right) My memory stick is FAT32 partition, 8GB, idk wich class. And i'm trying to install the Nand version. I'm sorry for not writing those stuff earlyer.

You most probably need to reflash recovery with a new partition table, because the old system partition is too small. For EU model I suggest you to use DataOnExt instead of NAND, but you will have to repartition your card.

That daf you used is not a CWM, that's a ROM that doesn't require clockworkmod. Just use the NAND Toolkit and flash CWM from there.
Thank you! I'm installing it now. I'm fallowing the guid of this video - Install NativeSD Rom's with 4ExtRecovery HTC HD2 4.2.2 Jellybean or ICS FIXED
