NTT DoCoMo has officially released pricing for the Sony Xperia Z (SO-02E), due to launch in Japan on 9 February 2013. The price looks equivalent to that mooted in other parts of the world, coming in at 77,280 Yen (£545, €645, $860). Guys what do you think abot the price? Are they nominal or steep given the specs??!!

Well said, i think its gonna blow up a deep hole in our pocket for sure. Whatever Sony does perfect, they seem to mess up and lose out in the pricing factor (as they did in SL, Xperia ion, arc S) and such. They ll eventually take months to revise the price too, where in that mean time others may catch up!
It's been announced at $749 in australia (basically $750 US)... australia normally gets pretty bad pricing on phones, so there's hope it might not be too bad for the rest of the world.

Let's hope for the best
im from sydney and i spoke to the company thats offering the handset for $749 but they said thats obviously subject to change and that i might be condiderably cheaper than that i remember paying $520 for the xperia s when it first was released in oz so going by that why would it be that much more expensive i doubt it would be more than $700

Japanese list prices are meaningless because they are 100% subsidy phones.
Only available through the carrier, and even if you outright purchase the handset (vs installment plan) you get a large immediate subsidy kickback.
Yes, one way or the other, they ll bump up the price!

You don't need to post a new thread every time a price is released as there's a thread about prices already here.

I'm a bit skeptical. Like the links shows anywhere between October 2008 in Germany and March 2009 for the rest of the world.

Just being frustrated and living in Australia.

Sigh... was hoping today's announcement by SE would have something about the X1, but apparently not...

Too bad I don't live in UK, Germany, or Sweden.

Hi,
Xperia's price has been confirmed!!!
http://www.tracyandmatt.co.uk/blogs/index.php/2008/10/03/sony-ericsson-xperia-x1-andash-release-d-1
Price at Clove is: £515.83 = $715 - 750.
Best Regards.
quite cheap, mind u that Touch Pro is around USD 945 here
I heard some rumors the with contract in UK it might go as low as 299. So if T-mobile us picks this up (*prays*) it should only be around $399-499.

Eeerrghhh, I really doubt it... I'll be crossing my fingers for you, but I don't see any US carrier taking this subsidized.
I was just in an ATT store this morning.. and the guy told me they had a conference meeting... in that meeting this information was passed on: Xperia phone will not be one added as subsidized phone.. however they will sell it.. at a date undisclosed.. but it will be full unlocked price they say. so im assuming 800-900 is what we're looking at.
Hey guys,
I 've thought that it'd be useful If we discuss here the launch dates of our new tablet around the world and the approx. prices If possible?
Great thread idea. I can't wait to see updates on release info, particularly for a wifi-only model if one becomes available. Right now, it's all conjecture, right?
I wonder when and where first.
Also which carrier is going to handle this.
Do I want wifi only?
So many questions...
Vodafone Portugal just announced that it will launch the 10.1 in March, with a price tag of 699€.
This should be the 3G version.
http://translate.google.com/transla...gura_lancamento_do_novo_tablet_d_1132024.html
960 dollars... holy crap! I hope the price drops in the US.
If my external hard driver works on the USB and transferring/editing files is cake, then I'm in.

Holy... I am pretty sure it'll be a bit cheaper in the US. Has to be!
Usually in Portugal there's no contract with the operator.
So you buy it for 699€ locked to that network, but your not forced to stay for 2 years and you can choose a cheap plan.
Or you can just use it as a wifi-only.
But 699€ for a tablet i think is to much. Maybe with the presentation of the ipad2 the price will be cut off. i hope so
We have to stay tuned with Vodafone Portugal
Looks like it will be released in March in the UK with a price tag of around £549
If it is that much my first thought is" wow how much" but when you get over the shock and see whats under the HUD and what it can do then it just makes me think to hell with the price i need one
I wonder why these tablets are so expensive. Don't they understand that it is t too much for most of the customers? They are even more expensive than the apple products.and they weren't the cheapest ones either. A laptop can do more than a tablet for a lower price.
I really wish that they would just give more options like Apple did with their iPad launch.

No. It doesn't support AWS and it doesn't support Band IV LTE. The ZL will at least to the LTE side of things. With T-Mobile you have to be pretty careful as their network is quite different to most.

The ZR (sold as the A domestically) has so dominated Docomo's summer sales so far (and outselling the S4 2 to 1) that the Z has entirely disappeared from the current offerings on their website:
http://www.nttdocomo.co.jp/product/smart_phone/index.html
At the moment you can still order one but after the stock they have is gone I wouldn't expect any more (same thing happened to Galaxy Nexus on Docomo - very early discontinuation).

That's terrible!
Contract phones is an awful concept. Imagine you would have to sign an internet contract when buying a PC. Or having to sign a contract with an electricity supplier when buying a washing machine. That would be insane, right?
Here in Belgium, simlocks are illegal and selling phones together with a contract too. Unfortunately, in 2009, the Court of Justice of the E.U. ruled that the ban of contract phones was contrary to E.U. law, so now they're selling them too over here (without a simlock nevertheless), but most people still buy a contractless phone anyway.

At release € 649, now € 549.
But our subscriptions aren't very expensive. I'm with the best (and also most expensive) mobile operator of the country and I currently use a prepaid plan which includes 2 GB of data (incl. 4G), 10000 SMS messages and 10 MB data roaming (cumulative to 100 MB) per month for every reload of minimum € 20. Calling is € 0.25 / min, so you can call 80 min with € 20. This plan is mainly for people who use a lot of data. There are other plans for people who call more.

Lucky me. Here in Malaysia, most phone sold are unlocked as 80% of the population use prepaid. Also here Sony are the cheapest around. XZ come out at around €520 and XZL at €400 (same price as N4) now I can get XZ for €380 and XV at €219(HK unit). And even with contract, none of the carrier here bother locking the phone, controlling any software or loading any crapware.
And my Prepaid give me 2Gig of data (they capped ur speed afterwards. 4G coverage is still limited but at least 80% of area got 42mbps), 3 Facebook credit, sometime they give u free KFC chicken, 100 minutes call to any local number, unlimited free call to the same Operator, 100mb of kakautalk and wechat and 30Sms for RM48 (€11.48). Afterwards per minutes is RM0.18 (€0.04).

Docomo supposedly had 1 million of each handset ready in advance according to an insider. No availability problems anywhere I've seen. I can confirm that at the shop there was much more activity around the XAs on display.
FWIW, the XA is positioned a lot higher for Japan - the developing-market ZR version is only 8GB but the version sold in Japan has 32GB internal. The waterproofing is a lot more important feature in the japan market, and the physical size hits the sweet spot for japanese hands it seems. (The S4 is just about the widest handset I could possibly use, the XA feels a lot better to me, but ultimately chose to go with S4 for unlocked bootloader)
I suspect the Z is withdrawn because a new model is about to take it's place - could even be an uprated Z as already leaked

The Xperia A is pretty much it until at least the end of August at the very earliest. Japan carriers do strict quarterly unveils of their whole product line and its been only a month since the summer lines were announced. Never anything in between.

We have Xperia Z model C6603 in Belgium, which has LTE, so it's more expensive.

currently its 550 CHF aka 450 Euros.
and i currently pay 30CHF per month (25 Euros) for 2gb Data (4g ... well at least would if there would be any antennas -.- not yet...) and everything else exclusiv. and thats one of the cheaper contracts! you might get a 1gb+1000sms+100minutes for 29.- if you're under 26years... but thats it. everything else is around 40-80chf
I bought mine last May for Php23400, corresponds to 408.96 euros @ Php57.22/1 EUR
at launch it was about Php30000 or 559.26 EUR, of course there's no contract when I bought it
