Hi i have very slow wifi on my u8800. I use Aurora ICS 4.03 Version 1.6. I have wipe when I install the ROM. I tried to download wifianalyser from market and it isent finished after 10 min (500k file). If I send a 1 mb file with wifi file explore it takes 5-10 min. Anybody know what the problem is?
Having the same problem..
Tried to flash an older stock .35 kernel ROM, and then Aurora ICS, but did not help.. Wonder what the problem is.. Doe's not seem like other people have wifi issues..
Running Aurora ICS 1.11
Yeap, mine too extremely slow to a point that it says that the connection has timed out. Lets hope its an easy fix for dzo because I can understand the man works hard to keep the updates rolling day after day.
Testing wifi at my parents house, on a d-link DIR-615, and it works like a charm..
Wonder why it wont work on the other ones i have tried..
bcus our wifi card is a cheap piece of sheat
it doesnt work on all modems and even if it works its not fast at all
Slow wifi
Hi, is there any solution to the slow wifi problem yet? Also, my wifi doesnt always disconnect so its doesnt auto switch to 3G/HSPA when I leave the hostspot area. Its almost as if it stays conected even if the hotspot is not broadcasting. I read in on the forum somewhere there are files you can try restore too check if its better but I cant seem to find the post now.
Thanks

Cheers. This lil patch helped me out. Wifi is running now, was about 200k before, now it is about 18.000k!
I made the thread here because it's not only a KQB rom problem, it's also happening on KQ7.
Now, i don't think it's a problem with our routers since on other roms it's working properly. It can't be a problem from our routers because the only setting responsible for this it's the DHCP Lease Time, but since the Wi-Fi is dropping randomly and not after a fixed time, it's not a "feature". For me it dropped after 5 minutes of connection. Then after 1 hour, then again 10 minutes, or 10 hours. So it's random.
Also the problem it's not the modem or wifi binaries, since i tried with KQ1 modem and binaries and the problem was the same.
So the last thing, i think it's a problem with the ROM itself, something that Samsung modified in KQ7 it's also present in KQB and it causes this problem.
We need a developer (skywalker, please? ) to look on this and maybe he can identify where it comes from.
Also we could try contacting Samsung, but I personally think that would be pointless.
A question for CM7 developer, skywalker. Can you make a patch or something for us to have the wlan or whatever from Cyanogenmod ? modem, binaries, and everything that relates and have a connection with the wifi/wlan. Since that's from Google and not Samsung, i think it will fix it.
P.S: Kernel is not the problem, i had this problem on KQ7 with stock and feacore nonOC kernel, and on KQB with stock and SkyHigh 1.4c kernel.
For me no dropouts since KQB
Hmm, my phone is simlocked, and when i install every rom i don't take out the sim card.
Could these 2 be the problem ? the fact that the phone is simlocked ?
since not every user experiences this problem (for me this problem also does not exist), it is impossible to say that this problem is rom related
there has to be other values which interferes the wlan connection
so you have to collect more informations about the phones which suffer from this bug
Can't do it alone if nobody helps me...
One if the reasons I'm still running KQ1.
Also tried the WiFi fix and KQ1 binaries, but still WiFi drops on KQ7 using the stock kernel and Feacore 1.4.
I'm running on a N-only, 2.4Ghz, 40 MHz, AES, WPA2-PSK, 300Mbps link on a TP-link WR1043ND.
Haven't tried KQB yet because of the other issues that rom has.
I have the same problem...since 2.3.5 stock rom
also i tried custom roms but without succes...maybe a experienced dev will help us
So any developer could look into this, please ?
I had wifi drops with KQ7 (broodrom) but they were solved using every fix broodplank provided to us: the browser fix, KQ1 modem and wifi binaries.

I'm on KQ7 and never had any wifi issues with any router I connect to (speedport w721v, linksys wrt54gl, devolo AV wireless n). For all those wifi networks, encryption is WPA2 personal and adresses are distributed by DHCP.
I can say the following: I have no dropouts on my home router (Asus N56U) which is working in 802.11n only (WPA2, DHCP) but I have dropouts at work (some old router with 802.11b/g, DHCP). I think it could be connected with this (but I am not sure as it could be just an issue of an exact router).
I have read a version that the phone just drops wireless connection for energy saving purpose (and that can be true as 802.11n should be more energy efficient)
I have also read that guys from 4pda.ru copied system files from KQ1 (some system libraries for wireless lan) and dropouts have disappeared.

Lol I was actually the one who released the KQ1 Wifi Binaries ^^, not that it matters but still, look in my rom topic
I installed KQ1 modem with Odin, then booted into recovery, mounted system and flashed KQ1 binaries from broodplank.
I still have dropouts.
I don't think it's the router, since when it randomly drops, the wifi button in status bar remains ENABLED but the connection is no more.

Can you track if the connection fails every ... seconds? Because if it's the same amount of seconds each time it's because of "wifi.supplicant_scan_interval"
Nope, i said it a couple of times already that it's pretty random. Can be 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour or even 5 minutes.
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval it's set to 180. What does it mean anyway ? and what's the value ? seconds ?

Ok then it's someone else, but what?. the command means that the wifi will scan every 180 sec for new connections, sometimes it happens (which is a bug) that after you're connected to a wlan, you will disconnect after the exact amount of seconds matching the value.
I have no idea what could be the problem. Anyway it's not a fixed time, it's random.
That's why i asked the help of a developer. Maybe he can notice something wrong in the rom regarding wifi.
So, i had same problem with wifi but i solved it. Model of my router:TP-LINK WR543G. In KQ1 everything was okay, but in KQ7 and KQB wifi stay connected only for about 1-2 mins, then dropped and i had to reconnect it manually in settings. KQ1 binaries and patches not helped. So i change DHCP lease time to max ( in my router, 2880 ), then switched wifi brodcasting channel to 13 ( anyone in my neighborhood are not in this channel ), changed security option to WPA2-PSK and encryption to AES and turned off "group key update peroid". That helped! Before that i was no able to use wifi cuz it dropps, but after i am still connected for about week, and everything works correctly
So it's a "feature" from Samsung in KQ1 and KQB.
The problem is that i couldn't find the right settings in my router, so the problem remains. Now that we know that it's a change in the ROM, we need someone to identify the change and change it back on how it was on KQ1 for instance.
Do you guys have wifi dropout during screen on or screen off? Because I have only dropout during screen off, leaving it in some minutes (i don't know how long) and then wifi is disconnected. I have already set wifi policy to never.
I'll try to disable wpa2 regroup key renewal...
as the title says, my wifi acts weird on both AOKP roms that i've tried (stephen spear's AOKP pub, and the official AOKP mr1 build 2). wifi will stay connected, but the internet will just drop. i could be in the middle of downloading something and it will just stop downloading and i'll lose internet connection even though i'll still be connected to the wifi network. i can't recall if it did this on stock 4.2.1, but it's definitely done it on stephen spear's AOKP pub build and the official AOKP mr1 build 2. i even tried franco's latest kernel and it still does it.
does this happen to anyone else, where it stays connected to the network but loses internet connectivity?
Massive 4.2 problem. There's a Google bug report thread with about 1, 000, 000 people moaning.
Reboot is only thing that works for me.

This happens to me on one public Wi-Fi router I use. What I see is that android does not handle long breaks in data transmission caused by congestion, network delays, etc. Of course I see it the most on big downloads. The download will stall and will not resume even though other apps can access online content. This happens with this access point across multiple devices I have.

well shoot, guess i'll have to read some more on 4.2 problems! that makes sense then, i've only used 4.2 on my n7 and the problem only exists on my n7 since my two sgs3's have 4.1.2. thanks for replies guys, i'm glad to know i'm not the only person that experiences this!
I hope this information I posted will be useful:

I have a N7 32G and an ASUS RT-N66U and had been having disconnection of my Wifi during use. Sometimes, turning on and off Wifi works but at spots in my house that's a bit further from the router, it will not connect. A few weeks back, rebooting my router helped for a few days and same problem occurred again. Then I tried static IP, and that helped for a few days. The latest test I did was to increase the "Network Key Rotation Interval" on the N66U from the default of 3600 to 7200. Crossing my fingers and hoping that this will finally solve my disconnection problem. My Wifi is set to 2.4GHz band, Wpa2-personal AES.

Temporary fix:
I have the same problem and the temporary fix is wifi advanced settings - advanced - and turn wifi "always on" to "nerver", reboot your device in recovery and clear cache , reboot and go back to advanced on wifi and switch back to always on. It will work fine untill you shut down or reboot your device, in that case you'll have to repeat the steps.
Hope it helps. We should see an update from Google soon.

If you are talking about the CM10.1 that just had the wifi fixed then this issue needs to be reported to the developer. The developer needs to fix this issue.

but how to report? I can't able to post any comment on Android development
I just read your first post more carefully.
The wifi was fixed by dzo. He fixed the wifi the same way he fixed wifi in Aurora ICS. Your wifi problem is also in Aurora.
The best you can do is to flash the ROM (v5 with wifi) again (do a clean install). If it still doesn't fix that problem, then tell me and I will report the problem to developer.
Thanks.

Okay, I went back to Aurora V5U21 and flashed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24412002&postcount=3379
the patched WLAN configuration. Everything seems work great except I set the WiFi always on but when screen off still WiFi will off, but everytime it off it will autoconnect itself without reopen the WiFi.
And also I installed a clean CM10.1 V5, and used like 1 or 2hour then the WiFi icon remain blue but without updown arrow then awhile become grey and won't auto reconnect anymore, just stay grey there until I reopen WiFi. Is not a big problem but sometimes I open WiFi wait for Whatsapp or other social apps. I don't know when it disconnect.

OK, I will report that for you to the developer.
Same here
I too experience wifi not comnnecting after sleep mode... and When connected to USB mode.. the transfer rate is around 170 kbps... Anyone hav this problem??
I have sent a message to the developer. Now, I am not sure if he will fix this problem or not. I think he will fix it because a lot of people on the development thread are talking about this issue as well.
Since we are talking about CM10.1 wifi issues, I'll state mine too.
I installed CM10.1 v7 on my U8800, everything looked ok, apart from the wifi. I could see all networks around me but the phone couldn't connect to anyone.
The same issue was present in aurora 5v20 but flashing the alt wpa supplicant fixes the problem.
I tried using the same file in CM10.1, the wifi connected but only my home's router was visible ( I should be able to see at least 5 more routers) I could not see nor connect to any other network.
Anyone know why does this happen?

I am currently on CM10.1 v9 and found out that if I enable wifi modes b + g on my router the phone connects. With g mode only no luck. I don't know if that helps you, but it is something.
I've not yet received my OP5. I'm in China.
A lot of people here is having really severe wifi disconnection problems. No more wifi data but wifi is still connected, have to reconnet wifi to have data.
I cannot post link yet. But there are all kinds of report on the Chinese official OP forum.
I'm just wondering if any of you guys are having the same problems?
I'll test the phone once I receive it.
Yes another issue, it's done it twice on me in the last 1w hrs, the wifi icon completely disappeared as if it switched off, I'm noticing some worrying issues out the box.
That should have said last 12hrs.
For me the problem is different. WiFi continues on, it's like it's properly connected, however I can't access anything on the web. I have to disconnect WiFi, use mobile data, and connect WiFi again. Then it works for 2 minutes, and stops accessing any websites again...
So, the wifi only works for about two minutes. I quit and now I'm only using mobile data...
It happens with all access points and wifis I've tried.
Same problem here. WiFi connection is always on, but after 5 minutes after connecting there is no more data send.

Okay I'm glad I'm not just imagining it. I'm having the exact same problem. I thought it was my home network at first but good to know it's the phone. I wonder how long it's going to take for a fix?
Try turning off smart network switch in wifi settings, I had the issue, but when I turned that off I had no issues.
Thanks. Will try. I hope that solves it.

Hi, I've had major problems within my 5 Ghz Wifi: The transfer rate was suuuper slow (0.15 kb/s and less) and after a while down to nothing.
But with switching to 2.4 Ghz everything works fine. So just go to wifi settings -> advanced and select 2.4 ghz only. That solves my problems for now. Hope a future update solves the 5 ghz issues.
I've had no problems with wifi on my OnePlus 5.

OnePlus haven't dispatched an update yet to fix this and other bugs...
Sad...
smart network is off but not work here.
i have the same problem with wifi. now i turned off smart wifi switch and i will try.
but i have the same problem with 4g. There is field, but i can't do anything, i can't surf on internet, like i haven't connections. Switch off data and turned on it and it work.
strange. very strange
same issue here. I've removed all files with 'cne' via recursive search in /system and commented out the entry in build.prop. seems to be a little better but still need some time to confirm
