It slipped out of my (very dry) hands three times yesterday, nothing happened! Very proud of her actually. Simple case on it.
It might scratch, yes. Need to be careful. Small scratch at the front, had one on the gn too.
Best phone I ever owned, go for it!

thanks bro for reply. does this phone have usb on the go?)in some forums it says not.and does it have screen problems like we have on gnex?

There's nothing the phone can't handle mate. Temple Run 2 on max quality, no problem. Haven't heard of any issues for others either. Which games do you mean? I can try one.
Battery is also great compared to the gn, even the gsm gn that I had.

It would get warm, but not too warm because the thermal throttling prevents the heat from getting too ridiculous by ramping down CPU speed which in turn shows up as stutter in intensive games.
Run custom kernels to get through this problem. =)

On stock it'll get hot. However, with custom kernel I lowered the GPU's clock, lowered max freq and lowered the voltaged via faux clock and now it rarely exceeds the 30-40C range. Also some of the games I listed are very basic(rayman, temple run, etc) and don't require much power, heck you can play a lot of these on a galaxy S1.

Of course, it's just that some games get very boring/repetitive. Dead Trigger for instance doesn't have a large variation in levels, which is also an issue with contact killer.

MY EPIC CAN PLAY TEGRA 2 games now

I was surfing the internet and realized someone on xda made a program called "chainfire 3d"....here is the market link....https://market.android.com/details?id=eu.chainfire.cf3d&feature=search_result
the program allows you to change your drivers to nvidia drives and im now able to play samurai II vengeance (which is only meant for tegra 2 phones)....here is the instructions to get the driver to work...http://forum.mobilism.org/viewtopic.php?f=399&t=199488
The game runs perfectly on my phone and I haven't noticed any side effects yet..
p.s. the programs allows to even use the qualcomm drivers as well
EDIT....make sure journaling is on...here is the link for journaling......http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1071723
thanks @063_XOBX for the heads up for having journaling on before....have a nandroid backuop before applying this as well
p.s. some roms already have journaling on, so make sure to check on that before you flash the "journaling on" zip
O.O thanks for sharing! I'm going to try this out later.

Fruit Ninja THD is pretty nice, but not enough changes other than having multiplayer (it's splitscreen, not online)
I'm trying Samurai II: Vengeance right now. I'll report back after. So far it seems good.
@whosdaman: download the Tegra Zone app off the market.
Where do you get the Tegra Games?
Alright, I've had enough time to test out Samurai II: Vengeance and the verdict is it's good. It's not amazing, but it's very smooth, seems like an interesting story, and time consuming. However, it is the classic "Hit, hit, slice, roll" controls that can seem repetitive if that's not your style. Otherwise, for a gamer like myself I think it's worth it.
Fruit Ninja THD isn't worth the upgrade, but if you've never tried Fruit Ninja before, get THD immediately!

Holy crap does it work flawlessly. That is kinda pathetic for the Tegra 2 that our phones can play their games effortlessly with a hacked opengl driver. I thought the games would at least be chugging a little bit, but they are perfect. At least Samurai II: Vengeance is.
About to try Monster Madness.
Edit: Monster Madness does not work.

Agreed! Although, this shouldn't be shocking. The reason why these games are meant for dual-core is because of the CPU usage these games use, and their ability to drain the battery pretty quickly if you play for a decent amount of time. Our phones do run the games well, however it does take up a lot of CPU usage, which is why Dual-core is more efficient since it can balance the memory between each processor without stressing either one.
But, does that really matter if you're home or at work next to a charger trying to find a way to pass some time? Of course not. Which is why this is amazing.
Chainfire is a god. Almost makes me want to find out what phone he has and switch to that. He just singlehandedly saved Android a HUGE amount of fragmentation. Seeing developers make games and apps that could only run on a specific hardware setup was worrying to me more than any other sort of fragmentation.

Did the news get around about a guy named butcher pete?
i figured everything out...i started over by restoring my nandroid backup...im running urbanlegend rom and i think it already has journaling on (im not sure and I don't know how to check if its on or not)...everything I flashed the zip for the "journaling on", my phone bootlooped...so i restored my old backup and just ran the app and everything works perfectly now...the chainfire app will works now and i am currently playing samurai ( a bit repetitive but a great game)
[email protected] i think this chainfire guy might have solved the android gaming issue also (hopefully)...being able to play games for different processers is awesome and i hope our galaxy s can keep up with the new processers and games that come out next year
the lack of a nvidia chipset is the only bump that is stopping me from getting a Galx2

[Q] Best Game/App for Graphics Demo?

So my new SGS2 has ALL this graphical horsepower...is there anything that actually takes advantage of it? I haven't found any reviews of mobile games that really talk about graphics, so I thought I'd ask the xda users what you guys would suggest...
Galaxy on Fire 2 THD
Grave Defense HD is pretty awesome on GS II
Reptide GP. Galaxy on Fire 2. Or that Samurai game. All these are Tegra 2 optimized games, so they look great.
Non tegra games... Modern Combat 2, Grave defence HD, Battlehart...
I also impres my friends with old games running on emulators, like Zelda, Super Smash Bros, Final Fantasy, etc

Maybe I'm doing something wrong but when I go to the android market and try to install a tegra game in my sgs2, it says the mobile is incompatible and doesn't allow the installation process to go through.

SGS ultra hot during Dungeon Defenders

Hi guys,
I'm just wondering, my phone gets ultra hot when i'm running hd games or dungeon defenders.
It's so hot that it's barely comfortable holding the phone.
touching the screen on the left keypad (which is the top left of the phone - near the cameras) is near impossible and borderline scalding and blistering.
Are you guys experiencing this on your phone?
I have similar during "Medieval Castle Defense", especially if I have brightness turned up.
Since I have rooted my phone and locked its upper clock to 800MHz this has decreased a lot, its now getting only hand warm. Performance is still good - no lags, no hangs, and if I need more power, I can just "unlock the lock".
So I guess while using very graphic intense applications while having brightness not drecreased, this is normal.
Thing is, I don't have brightness up that high. I usually keep it in the low region. And by low, I mean in the 10-20% region.
I'm surprised that the phone cooks up a lot during intensive gaming. a bit worried that it might fry itself during gaming..

Yes, this the only and first game that I have found makes the phone exceptionally hot, in particular near camera area, even some of the heavy graphical gameloft games only make the device warm, must be something wrong with the game I would say, removing the game

From the tear down, the problem lies with the processor. or mainboard.
What's your settings?
Rooted/unrooted?
Rom?
I'm running stock unrooted 2.3.3 and i'm having this problem.
I did notice that it doesn't get heated all the time. Hot yes, but not all the time. It does mean that it might not be safe to run background apps while heavy gaming.
Im geeting the same problem with guns'n'glory and robo defense. I have brightness at 50% but the phone becomes a fire risk after about 30 minutes of play.

Not sure.
What is your phone setup?
i'm running unrooted stock rom I9100XWKF-1
What are you running on?
I have read somewhere that KE-2 version does not overheat.
Cannot confirm that though.
I have Asphalt 6 a racing game which isn't playable with my silicone cover around it. It will eventually lag and will stop. Without the cover i have no problems. Also having this problem with the gangster game from gameloft.
Guys, the actual problem on the phone is heat dissipation. It's very thin and made of plastic. So,all the heat the processor generates goes directly to its environment.I don't think it's going to get burnt or something, but it makes everyone feel uncomfortable.
The best solution available for those who don't want to sacrifice any performance is rooting and undervolting. Most phones should be able to handle 1200MHz at 1200mV.This saves you from a good amount of overheating.Tegrak Ultimate or custom kernels allow for undervolting for those who haven't bothered yet.
I for one am overclocked too,but don't experience any overheating that often.Only when I go up to 1.6GHz my phone overheats a lot,but still, not as much as when it was stock.
I havent had any game really warm up my phone, this game makes the phone just a tad bit warm like angry birds.

I can coming from KE2 - same issue with RoboDefense. I did factory reset the phone and I think it solved the issue mostly. I tested it only briefly so cannot confirm 100% as I uninstalled the ancient RoboDef version I had short after that and installed a new one from market. Phone did got warm, not burning though as it used to.
I did the factory reset because I suspected something's draining the battery and couldn't tell what (factory reset solved this as well) so I think it has something to do with combination of some processes which are running concurrently.
I am currently running the KE2 kernel and I am here to report that I have heating issues when playing HD games also. The heat really bothers me or shall I say worry me a lot? I'm looking to root my phone and underclock it so it won't get that hot.

So we may say that Exynos is done for 1.6. and underclocked and this pisses our little dual-core gem off ))
But i'll give it a try. Actually most of the time phones get hot ehen they're intensly used for connection. I never had CPU overheating any of my phones till now. I gues Samsung's own softcraps screws their hi-tech device. A slimmed modified undervolted-kerneled ROM without Samsung's softcrap will do the job...
By the way..t hanks for the heads up man...
try underclocking to 800mhz, performance shouldnt suffer too much, and the phone wont get as hot.

Well,it's not guarranteed this will also work on other's devices.Keep in mind that every CPU is unique, for many reasons that I won't discuss here, you probably already know. Many things are in play here though. Some people have even experienced overheating more than normal when undervolting.Things are reaaaally ****ed up.It's probably that with changes in voltages, resistances also change inside the chip. That MAY be causing it,just taking a wild guess here,so take my word with more than one pinch of salt.

Define "running badly". Display corruption? Tearing? Banding? Lag? Fuzzy?
The only thing I've had is fuzziness. Some apps don't scale well to our extremely high resolution.
