Nexus 4 screen lifting from the bottom - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The screen on my Nexus 4 is starting to lift at the bottom. Starting to look like I have a giant bubble all along the bottom edge. I have no screen protectors installed. Looks like this was caused by the rubber edge of a hard case rubbing against the bottom edge of the screen. Anyone else having this issue. I guess it is still under warranty and I should contact Google to get it fixed. Very dissapointed in the build quality of the phone. I have unlocked and rooted the phone. Should I restore it to its original condition before sending it back to Google?

post pics !

It should be covered for a year

[Q] OMG what is this a rub mark on my screen?

I woke up today to find this rub mark on my galaxy tab 7.7, it stretches from one side of the glass to almost the other! When i rub it with a cloth it goes away, but then it comes back in about 30mins. Does anyone know how to get rid of this or do I have to return my product. Its not the screen as the picture will indicate the mark covers the top right side of the bezel.

I do not know if I am helping but is there a screen protector on your tab? If there is, it might be your screen protector's problem. Hopefully this helps.
No screen protector
Picture isn't very clear or big.
Samsung tablets have been prone to "oil slick" problems, which are a manufacturer's defect.
Example of "oil slick:" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orEJGB9r7OE WARNING: Loud noises on video.
When I get home from work I'll be able to snap a better picture of the mark.
Ok, here's an updated picture.
[update] again, let me reiterate: when i wipe down the marks they go away, but in time they return
Seems to be an issue with the glass (or better the manufacturing) as it also goes under the bezel. I would return it for guarantee.
try cleaning it with a mild soapy water if not have it replaced.
Yea it looks like the glass is detaching from the panel only in that area. Either the adhesive there isn't enough to hold it down or there could be a curvature in that area causing it to lift up. When you press it down the adhesive takes for a bit but eventually detaches again. Either way that's a manufacturing defect so you should definitely return it. It could eventually spread to the rest of the screen in time as it weakens the adhesive around the affected area.
yes you are right, I woke up this morning and what did I find but more lines, I called expansys.co.kr and they initially told me I would have to pay a fee for the lcd to be fixed, but since I told the rep its more a problem with the glass the rep told me she would get back to me later today about this issue.
thanks everyone for your input, I will update this thread when I get more info
If you look at a breakdown of the Tab 7.7 the battery is located on thats side. I had a problem once with my iphone that when it heated up the screen protector strated to warp with the heat. On cooldown and a wipe it would appear better.
This looks very similar to what I experienced it may be worth trying a different brand incase the glue used reacts more than normal to heat.
Also the treatment used on the screen is designed to resist fingerprints so it may also prevent the glue from adhering.
I use screen cleaner on my screen before fitting screen protectors. It may help.

Inner metal bezel scratched and huge gap

I just got my note 4 from t-mobile shipped yesterday oct 13. The pictures shows it all. Not only do i have a gap that is only at the top and right side of the phone (which i can live with), the top right hand corner shows that the inner bezel scratched possible from applying that screen. I can live with the gap but not those scratches as the white phone bezel make it more noticeable. Sucks to get the runt of the new note 4s...
i wouldn't call that a "huge" gap, you can probably just slip a piece of paper in, but not anything thicker, same info posted by androidauthority and unbox therapy. how did you scratch it with a SP anyway? glass SP?
It just seems like the paint that used on the metal came off in those spots. As for the gap, it's no bigger than any other note 4, but I do agree that dust and other particles will get stuck in there over time.
same small gap on my phone but then it disappeared after i put on a case. Even without the case it doesn't really bother me that much because i didn't even notice it
You can scratch it if your removing bubbles
I don't think you have a gap issue at all. I'd be a ticked about the scratches though.
Those aren't scratches. Those are the antennas

trust me those are scratches from the paint peeling off the metal. Probably for poor installation.
This phone also had very loose volume rocker buttons.
Also the gap is way bigger than any of the 4 phones that shipped. ( had a total of 6 so...)
Ended up returning this one and one with a dead pixel/dust ball under the screen.
Got my two replacements from t-mobile. all is good.
Oh my bad. I was looking at the last picture you uploaded where it shows the cut out at the top left of the phone

How does your S6 edge look like after weeks of usage?

How does your S6 edge look like after weeks of usage? Does it have scratches or other sign of usage? Do you use it 'naked' or protected with a cover? Please post pics of your phone condition.
Thanks.
I bought my 2nd hand S6 Edge.
There are 2 tiny scratch on screen.
(The previous owner use it without screen protector and use with official clear cover case.)
I use it naked. Had a tiny scratch on the back, but I attached a d-brand back so no visible scratches anymore. The front and sides look like new. I git a few tiny scratches on the home button. They are only visible when the light hits it directly.

Mint condition, no scratches or scuffs, no case as i don't like them but i do have a dbrand skin as you can see ?
After months of usage, the only difference in appearance is the earpiece has superficial scratches. Also the screen protector has begun to peel off
I dropped my phone a few times already. I have this gel-like case (Ringke) and it's still scratchless. It dropped twice face down. But the Home button, geez. On the FIRST WEEk, yes, FIRST WEEK, it already accumulated a lot of scratches even though I wasn't a Home button guy even on previous phones.
After a couple of months of ownership with no case, I noticed a small scratch on the home button. There's also small scuffs on the edge all around the metal band. Overall, not bad
Unfortunately main looks like a tank that is because cannot stand the battery life of my phone so i decided to buy a this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331562403221 . Now am relatively happy because it save my phone couple of times (landing on concrete)though no scratches what so ever.
home button scratches

Phone is still Mint I used the all over clear skin from Skinomi and a Spigen tough case.
The clear skin still looks perfect the case has started to look a bit scuffed the rubber edge is OK it's the plastic back

Mine is fine, had Ghost Armor installed the day I got it on both front and back and been switching between my puregear clear case and UAG frost case.
Iv had mine in a spigen neo hybrid case since the day it was released with screen protector back and front.
Only damage I have noticed is the fingerprint scanner has small scratches all over it and the flash cover next to the camera scratches very easily!!
I've had full screen protector on and nothing else and it's fine no marks at all I do use a pouch to carry it in, was thinking of getting dbrand skin for the rear but I love the gold/platinum

scratches on screen even though I've been super careful.
I've never had a phone that scratches this easily.
even with the faint scratches, one on birth front and rear glass, this has definitely held up much better than previous Corning Gorilla glass versions i've had from previous phones.
I went naked for the first week. both the screen protectors I tried later on annoyed me and so I ditched them. I went through several protectors for the rear and sides. here are how they have faired...

Well I would have posted about how my phone has held up, except I am on my 4th S6 Edge in 5 months. First one fell victim to a water/rain catastrophe, so did an insurance claim, second one had a wonky home button so did a warranty exchange, third one had a malfunctioning recent apps soft key so did a warranty exchange.
Between spending money on Skinomi skins for each and 2-3 hours setting up each phone, I am having the worst run with smartphones ever.
Mine has a nice, large shattered portion on the left of the screen, near the volume buttons. Also has a few other cracks... Love the phone nonetheless.
Faint scratches on the screen then dropped it landed on the corner lucky on a dent
After only four months of use, I had to send mine away for repair due to screen burnin. Worst screen burnin I have ever seen. Sorry, didn't take any pictures of it at the time to show now. Got it back now with a brand new screen.
Where was the burn in? I'm having it on the bar at the top of the screen where all the info is..my wife has it to with her edge

Quality problems with the plastic part between screen and chamfered edges

Hi,
I have my 6P now for two weeks, and for the looks I'm rocking it only with a screen protector and a white carbon dbrand skin.
So I am pretty careful with the phone.
The problem is that the phone already shows signs of wear, to be more specific:
It already has notches in the plastic between the screen and the camfered edges.
The plastic seems to be very soft. The only possible scenario where I can imagine to picked up the notches is while having it in a car holder(also made out of plastic).
Does anybody else has the same problem?
Can you post a picture of this issue?
wish i could help but like above pics would help as don't know what it could be. Been naked and then to dbrands and have no issues
I can confirm these issues. I'm on my 4th RMA because of this issue. My first device has a chip on the plastic piece by the power button, second device had what looked to be the mate finish wore off and a dead pixel on the display, the third device had the same thing and a strong pink hue on the bottom of the display, and now I'm waiting on my 4th RMA. By the way if this one is messed up I'm going to stick it out with my first device because the display on this device is perfect! You can also see a big difference in the display from the RMA units. The panel looks black when off like my GS6 but the RMA's I've had looked dark grey when off and not black. The plastic piece that sits between the display and metal seems to be an issue Google is tracking so hopefully it gets fixed. I have a white 64gb 6P if that helps. I did have pics of all the issues because I had to send them to Google for proof but I erased them. Sorry

I have this issue with mine. That plastic strip that goes around the screen got rip or broke in my Nexus 6P is flimsy and is coming off. I had my phone from launch week 1. Does warranty cover this? Is some minimum but for my OCD this issue is killing me.

The plastic part on my phone came from Google with dents and scuffs in it.
I have this issue also.
The plastic is quite fragile. My damage was caused by the Google nexus 6P case...
Have pics but cant post em because first post.
The black rubber like piece between the glass and case is coming off on my Nexus 6P. I've had the phone in the Genuine Official Nexus 6P Leather Folio Case Flip Cover since almost day one, so I'm a bit surprised after about 2years of use Build Number N2G470.
My answer was simple to this. Wanted a black and silver nexus 6p and when I removed the back to change it I noticed how flimsy the plastic was and was dented and cracked in places. So I took a razor blade when the phone was back together and removed the plastic all from around the edges and it now looks slot better. I did try and buy a mid frame before doing this as my LCD was perfect. But couldn't find one. Much better look now and the phone now looks brand new again and my ocd is at bay. Lol.

Doesn't that plastic filler strip (between glass and aluminum chassis) act as a retaining ring to hold in the glass? I have not taken my phone apart, but that thin black plastic piece has broken in several places (with sections missing). I assumed it acts like a snap ring in the groove to retain the glass screen. Am I wrong? Is it just a for aesthetic purposes?
Does anyone know if Google recognizes this as a defect and fixes it for free? Or.... can I remove the remaining pieces and use the phone without it?
It doesn't hold the screen in. It's designed to act as a buffer between the glass and the frame to help stop the glass crack or smash if you drop it. It's actually part of the mid frame attached to the glass. Mine did what yours did, hence when I put the new housing on, I trimmed it down with a razor blade level with the rear housing and it made it look so much better, while still doing good the job of helping stop the glass from cracking when dropped. To be honest, once a case was on the phone you couldn't tell anyway, also Google doesn't see it as a defect, just part of wear and tear. I tried a defect claim and they said no as it was damage I had caused, even though mine happened from taking it in and out of my spigen case on a few occasions. Hope that helps.

Also, you need to slide a slim pry tool between that plastic and the metal frame to remove the back. It's not in a ridge its part of the midframe of the phone.

Any idea what's going on along the edge of my screen?

Over the last couple days my G2 has slowly been developing a light colored edge around the top and now the bottom of the screen, At first I thought it was scuffs, but it's actually under the glass. It's not light bleed either because it shows with the G2 powered off. It started out only on the top left and has now expanded. My guess is that the lcd is detaching from the digitizer, however, the glass is not lifting from the housing at all. I replaced the screen with frame back in December (LG made OEM part) and it's still under warranty from etradesupply. I'll likely send it in for replacement, but was curious if anyone has seen this before.
Hardware fault, send it back asap.
