Tasker question. - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there an event I can use to turn notifications off when my magnetic case is closed? Right now I have it set to do so when the screen is off but there are times that the screen could be off without the case being closed.

[Q] Is there a Power Button alternative ?

Hey everyone. I've been reading a lot on here and I just want to say that I appreciate all the help, advice, and tips everyone has put out ! I have a small question of my own here today.
Is there a way to turn the screen on of the Nexus 4 without using the power button ? Maybe a gesture that you can do on the screen ? flip the screen over ? I'm open to any idea ! If possible, I would like to hear of something that has been actually tested on a nexus 4 as I don't want to screw up my phone in any way. I'm sure I'm not the only one that is worried about wearing out their phone's power button !
Thanks all !
Sweep 2 wake.
There are at least a couple of kernels that support it. I believe Faux123's kernel does. Check original development.
touch control... an app by bponury... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2101488
Use either sweep2wake or volume wake.

Try Auto Screen On. Works really well!

I use intellicover and it works awesome. Uses your proximity sensor and you can just move your hand over it to wake the phone up. Only problem is it is on all the time, so if I'm playing a game and move my hand over the proximity sensor, it shuts the screen off. Really easy to disable though.

TOUCH CONTROL is awesome, all gesture controls. Pick the start and end area of your gesture to turn your screen on or set it to double tap to wake.
To turn display off swipe left to right or right to left across dock area. Nice thing about using gestures over using proximity sensor is in and out of pocket wont wake your display and if your holding your phone with say one hand its pretty tough an awkward to extend your thumb across your screen in order to wave past your sensor, where as gesture can all be done using just one hand and one finger.
touch control is awesome, but consume lot of battery. one day I test the power consumption, turn on 3G data only, non wifi or GPS signal, pull off the plug at 00:00, when I wake up at 7:00, the power remain 81%. I only install two apps, facebook and whatsapp. :crying:
Touch control app on my phone doesn't use hardly any power at all. It isn't in the list of apps under battery and isn't even causing any wakelocks that I can see, and i'm still getting my usual 3-5 hours screen on (depending what i'm doing) and over 20 hours standby.
I seriously recommend this app.
The sweep2wake thing in faux's kernel take two swipes every time to turn my phone on so I use the app.

Screen Wake Speed With Smart Cover - Increase Wake Speed??

Hi,
I have the MOKO slim case, just wondering if im able to increase the speed in which the screen wakes when I open the case?
Been looking and there are some mods to edit the proximity sensor but I believe its another sensor id need to modify.
Any ideas chaps?
I want to have less of a wait turning the screen on when I pull back the cover
Thanks
N
I don't know about you but my tab is awake the second I lift up the cover an inch away... By the time it is fully open it is well awake
mine kinda takes a little while too, but i dont really mind it. I have the moko too and by the time i get the flap behind the tablet its on
Sometimes it will lag if you closed it on a different orientation then your opening it. (Portrait/landscape)

Touch screen to wake

Hey guys, I noticed on the latest twrp recovery I can touch the screen to wake it.......
Is there a app that implements this in the os?

At the moment...nope.

Looking for something like this myself, nexus is going mounted in car so I wont have access to the power button
So far i've seen shake to wake apps (obviously no good for a car)
proximity wake apps (nexus doesnt have a sensor)
and magnet to wake (would need to keep a little magnet in the car)
I've seen some kernals that enable touch screen to wake for other devices, anyone know of any that have it for the nexus or any other possible options for in car use.
screen always on looks like the only option at the moment. alternatively some fiddly wiring in a new button to the dash

CM10.1 + smart cover sensor

Maybe 25% of the time, my tablet doesn't wake up when I open the cover... I have one of these Poetic covers that triggers the magnetic "smart" cover sensor. It seems to always sleep when I close it but sometimes it either doesn't wake or it takes 15-30 seconds to wake.
Are there any settings in CM10.1 to govern the responsiveness of this sensor? Or can I configure it to simply not wake the device?

Other have found you must open and close and open again to make it work properly.

Yes, I found that as well. Would rather simply disable the "wake when open" behavior and wake it with the button (always works), and let it just sleep when closed.

Quickwindow Tweak (Screen off When Closed)

Hi
I have an official G2 Quickwindow case for my G2. I'm really impressed and happy with it. But there is this annoying feature that I would like to disable.
When the screen cover is flipped closed while the screen is on,the phone goes to'quickwindow' mode. I know it's an in built feature but I would prefer the screen turning off when the cover is flipped close.
Disabling the quickwindow case under 'accessories' will not cut it as I want the screen to turn on when the case is opened and the quickwindow mode activated when the screen is gestured on while cover is closed.
I'm free to any options. Do help me if you can! Thanks! ?
Cheers
