Custom GPS Antenna THL W7 - Hardware Hacking General

Hello.
I Received a THL W7. it has GPS. the GPS Antenna built in simply does not work and i'd like to have some assistance or help to try to fix my gps issues. so far, i have tries touching a 20CM Long wire to the contacts and it made my GPS work, but i would like to keep it an internal antenna that can still give me a good signal. i am not an antenna designer and from what i've tried, if the antenna goes near the battery or the other antennas (wifi, bluetooth) the signal dies. and if the antenna is outside and away from the phone, i get the best signal possible. how am i supposed to make a good GPS antenna but that is flat and can be hidden behind the cell phone cover?
Thanks for any help.

Are you sure? My THL W7 will lock in 30-38 secs without data. SNR is also around 30++ which seems good enough for navigation. The built-in GPS antenna (glued to the plastic cover) as I can see is already quite large and should be optimal for this purpose.
Are you trying outdoor and under a clear sky?
However, I have a problem with the compass getting stuck at 2 o'clock. Anyone having this prob?

My compass doesn't work. Its entirely random.
Yeah. Outside under clear blue sky doesn't lock. Once I get the wire attached it locks in under 1 minute.
Could you take a photo of your back cover and antenna so I can compare with mine? Thanks.

If it's completely random, you could calibrate it using the preinstalled Super Compass app. Try this method: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sP3d00Hr14o
But mine just gets stuck at 2 o'clock position for a while (2 to 5mins), then it goes completely berserk pointing at random places. No amount of calibration would help. Also, when it's stuck, no amount of calibration would unstuck it.
I'll open up my case after work today and take a pic for you.

Thanks. Mine is identical but I can't get a lock with it. Pure annoyance.

Is the GPS connector sunken in? If you look at your mainboard, at the location where the antenna would be connected to, there should be two gold pins/springs. Make sure the springs are not depressed or sunken in or the connection will not be good. I would use a small screwdriver to pull out the pins if it's true.
The other possibility could be your firmware? Have you tried ygps? Perhaps try the typical cold start test with ygps.

yeah, i used the ygps in the mobileuncle for mtk and the gps does not lock on. the golden connectors do make proper contact with the antenna, when i remove the cover i get better signal than when the antenna is connected/cover is on..... i totally dont understand why it works for you but not for me. my antenna does conduct as well, i tested it with a multimeter...

I also have the same problem, new THL w7 , never able to lock GPS at all...I will check the cover and gold connectors but i dont see , why it would not work with brand new phone.

Hi all,
THL released a new firmware here. Install and provide feedback here. Please try especially if u're having prob with gps.
http://www.thl168.com/Download/detail_96.html

It is risky to upgrade, the ROM file name is ThL.W7.130126.ICS.V13.HD.CN.COM.8P32_MT6577 where CN stands for Chinese, the current ROM version in settings-->about clearly says EN in the name. which is english. If you are english user, this one may turn your phone into chinese language. dont know if it can be changed or not.

its not risky to update at all but be warned that its only english and chinese. all the other languages are removed from the CN version. the EN version can be downloaded from needrom, bjut its the old version. i didnt try this version, but there was another older version and that one did not solve my gps or wifi issues.... i'd have to back up first before trying new version.... and in my case, gps is hardware fault.

Hey guys, i tried the new firmware. Despite the name cn, the firmware is entirely english. All you need to do is to change the language in settings back to eng. It surely feels faster and on antutu getting 6.2k score rather than 5k plus. Gps locks way faster now and compass working again! Just so u know.

your red line is on the antenna's empty spot already, if you cut on the black line the antenna becomes super tiny?

[FIX] i9000 i9001 gps final fix

Before to procede, remember all electrial component can have fault so exist warranty. If you want, procede at your own risk loosing warranty
For this tutorial is raccomanded professional leadfree soldering iron
i solved my gps problem, it is hardware problem, so no settings, gpsaids and no other solution helped me.
Problem is caused by bad gnd conductivity between mainboard and antenna. It is conduced by:
1) CONDUCTIVE GUMMY (suggest me better name if you have ) This kind of rubber was used for old nokia 8210 for connect display to mainboard. It was the mayor fault for nokia 8210.
2) back cover gps antenna: When phone become hot, antenna go back and not good touch with motherboard. Then, when phone isn't hot, gps antenna remains with a kind of "hole"
First try software fix (it not helped me) then try my solution
Solution:
Attention: it will avoid warranty, do it at your own risk, i'm not responsable for any fault.

here is antenna contact not used for my european i9000
Please check by yourself if it touch with your variant antenna,
if it is not used, you can remove and solder where was rubber
Now gps signal is immediate for me
Best regards
Leeno
The first picture is before and the second afterwards?
i moved in this third post the other solution,
it is easyer then solution in first post but i not like it because is not clean
Attention: it will avoid warranty, do it at your own risk, i'm not responsable for any fault.
For solve it i just removed rubber and soldered antenna to gps gnd mainboard like the picture.
Attention: if you use unprotected wire like picture, make sure it touch only gnd, not other components or you can damage phone.
Gnd require hard conductivity so
DO NOT USE VERY THIN WIRE

here is antenna contact not used for my european i9000
Please check by yourself if it touch with your variant antenna
I thought that the other connection was for GPS
What is the reason of this post? This fix is well known. A search might be helpful from time to time. The only useful info in this thread is the fact that you figured out that the other antenna is not used.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=878970
Besides yours there is also another post that does the same thing. Takes you to the first one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1043034
So no need for another one.

No, sorry, you're wrong.
THIS fix were not known at all! The thread you linked just refer to pull up the OTHER contact of the gps antenna, not the RUBBER ONE, which actually is the source of the problem.
So the next time please read carefully before suggesting someone a search.
This thread is VERY USEFUL! This man deserves all the praise and should be acknowledged of the REAL FINAL GPS FIX which turned my phone into what should have been since the first day!
I was skeptical to say the least.
but this time, I have to admit: this solution works INSANELY WELL.
I made my own modded version, though. I removed the third unused antenna contact, and placed it over the conductive rubbed. no soldering involved. pressure keeps the contact in position and enhances the connection between antenna and mobo, similar but more effective than the other older solutions.
btw, I also changed server from europe.ntp.org to xtra1.gpsonextra.net, just like in my old acer liquid which locks really instactly.
connecting now in seconds in my living room (!!!) with 7 to 9 satellites. awesome. never happened before.
you deserve a huge thanks.
I did it this morning. I removed the rubber and soldered a wire between the contacts. I never had such a signal on my i9000, the gps works perfectly.
Huge thanks from here too.

pictures in first post are self explaining.
I did not bother soldering anything. Just removed the unused antenna with some tweezers and placed it on top of the existing conductive rubber (but reversed upside down, though, to keep it level), I used a tiny bit of duct tape to hold it in place and to be sure it does not touch any other contact on the mobo.
I cannot exclude to solder it or use some conductive glue in the future, anyway, it sounds safer.
I can confirm this is THE solution. I am really astonished.

gps.conf in /system/etc, you need a rooted phone the mod this file.
default server in sgs1 is "north-america.pool.ntp.org" which supposedly is not correct for european users. following suggestion here at xda, I changed the line to "europe.pool.ntp.org" months ago, and now after givig a look to gps.conf in the acer liquid to "xtra1.gpsonextra.net" and live happily with that.
I do not think this is the point, anyway. My old acer liquid uses "xtra1.gpsonextra.net" and locks sats in the blink of an eye, ditto for my wife's htc desire which has "pool.ntp.org". Any software related mod could be just placebo.
as far as I know (google search..), hot glue is not conductive. if so, you are not fixing anything. but I might be wrong.

I use hot glue just from side to fix connect in place and check with multimeter all good. In my gps.conf i change from "pool.ntp.org" to "europe.pool.ntp.org" voila first fix time 00:31 and also me not use any help like wifi or mobile data just clean gps. However this fix work...
Hmmm....
I will give it a try soon.

you are welcome to it
Thank you
Thank you very much. I gave it a read and page 96,97 & 98 relate to component level information and is relevant to my question.
Although, I couldn't find a part number for the motherboard as a whole. May be I should provide more information about the problem I'm facing to help narrow things down.
After a pretty(very) bumpy ride, I noticed that the phone had switched off and wasn't coming back on. I assumed that I had damaged the phone. I put it on charge and a few hours later, to my surprise, it came back on. Ever since, I've been facing these problems.
a. Phone consumes battery whilst in switched off mode. I'm talking ~40% drop overnight.
b. 2g works only via 64K SIM cards. Phone disconnects from the network when I set it to 2g when on a 32K SIM.
c. Wi-Fi doesn't work - I get the obtaining IP address error. From the battery usage stats, I can tell that the Wi-Fi unit is drawing power.
Folks at the Samsung service centre suggested that I replace the entire motherboard. It costs ~ £120, which is a little too steep and much to invest on a 2 yr old phone. Spares and peripherals usually carry a nasty mark up, which is why I'm trying to get one from the makers or others who are willing to sell it for lesser.
Edit: Stock ROM fixed the Wi-Fi issue.

Pages 8 to 16 gives the part and code numbers, although, these are not detailed, without them, you will have a hard time trying to buy online...best thing to do is let a technician at your end, check it and let him tell you what parts you need and than you try and purchase them online with part numbers
from what you are saying it could be a simple cracked board ...that may need some reconnection as it is obviously shorting causing power drain even when in OFF mode .
off course technicians can be tricky, so may need to find someone you can trust

You're right. Finding a trustworthy technician can be tricky. Even when I do, they won't offer any kind of assurance. £120 with a guarantee is starting to appear more attractive than £50 with none.
I was lazy. It's listed on page 9. This must be the part number of the motherboard - QMP01 A/S ASSY-PBA MAIN_GT-I9000B,BRAZ (SVC) GH82-04996A
Online search of that part# doesn't help in anyway whatsoever.

Help!!Bootloader problem, Phone wont boot

I had Aurora 4.10+u1a and Paul's kernel. I installed Swapper 2 from market and it messed everything. Now phone don't boot. No recovery no pink screen . Please help
The default partition is the emmc one. Its not suppose to be it. You have to change the 0 to 1. Its directions are in frozenpika in the pro section.

How can i try no pink screen no recovery, nothing is working
If you used partition number as mmcblk0p2, then your device is bricked and currently we have not found a way to unbrick it. mmcblk0p2 holds the main bootloader, but it should be possible to alter the boot sequence or force the phone to enter downloader mode, but as I said, we have not found a way to do this.

I was trying to do this myself, but did not succeed. The six pins under the phone (under the SIM, on the motherboard) are for service terminal. So far I know 2 pins are USB data lines. Check: http://i871.photobucket.com/albums/ab271/fertxter/mainboard.jpg
If we manage to get the pin information for all the six pins, we could find a way to fix the phone in such cases.

Easiest fix without actually reinserting the bootloader is to replace the EMMC chip however that would be hard. I believe the six pins are used to directly communicate with the EMMC chip or control the Qualcomm's QHSUSB_DLOAD function. Unfortunately I don't have the information needed to fix it in your case. If we manage to get a service manual for repairing soft bricks like bootloaders, that would be cool, but since we don't have anything like that now, I can't say what to do :/.

Thanks a lot for reply. I don't think survice guys will figure out what the real problem is. So i'll ask them if they can change eMMC.
Isn't their any way to access eMMC to put bootloader in it.

Yes, you are right one of them is related to C8150, but belong to the original doc, I think is there just for PCB example.
Unfortunately I didn't found the pinout, precious info for JTAG users.

The PCB with the chip ID numbers I have on my Mediafire, so that's not a biggie, if searching for a resistor or a chip.
The biggest mystery right now is those six pins. If you look at the back of U8800, you can see a rubber which can be removed (when opened though). In the manual it's referred to as "test hole rubber". Test points are usually used to check what the phone should do, for example: go to download mode if specific pin is connected to ground. It could actually be some sort of serial connection with host. Are there any other Huawei phones with those pins? U8860 is the closest device to U8800/U8800+.

Well, if you can take your mobile to a repair shop, I am pretty sure they have JTAG. So you just give them your phone and the JTAG pinout, and your phone should be fixable. JTAG can fix pretty much any software issue. Or buy a JTAG box yourself and make a cable and attach it yourself, but the JTAG box is not cheap so that's probably not going to happen.

I see, you have access to bill of material, HD2U880U, HD1U880M pcb's, etc...
Yes, all phones have this kind of pins, they are used by in-circuit test (ict), start-up device, etc ... during production process.
I'm pretty sure that you can find this pinout in the schematic of pcb HD1U880M under ref. TP1801, do you have access to this diagram?
The hole is a little bit strange because in mine is placed one white dot above pins, this prevent correct contact, in yours the white dot is present too?

I had it covered too, but I removed it myself now. The ref number TP1801 is the key, but no documents seem to be talking about it. So if it is ICT, one of the pins should cover EMMC power lines too, right? If we manipulate it, the EMMC is not powered and the phone must go to download mode or try alternate boot methods. I am not experienced in electronics really, but the pin should be connected to ground (or negative) I suppose? With a multimeter, we could check which pin it is, but I have not got access to my phone right now, so I can't do it yet. I understand it should be connected to one of the resistors around the EMMC chip.
It seems to me like the HD1 and HD2 are development models, and they may have got the front camera connected too (30W camera manuals are talking about). Kernel had a workaround for HD1 which did not start the light/proximity sensor, so those may have been the changes.

How I fixed my bad GPS..

Hello guys,
following these steps solved my bad GPS as you can see with the screenshots.
for each GPS test i used "Gps status & toolbox" and i tested gps fix outside, on a balcony.
Starting situation: 6/24 satellites found.. no fix.. sometimes 8-10 satellites and then fix with about 80meters error

the idea is that GPS antenna lies on the detachable module and LG did a mess designing it.
basically, if you take out your module sometimes out, probably you'll result in bad gps behaviour.
here a pic of GPS antenna's contact/hook
i taped it with electric tape in order to test if effectively it was GPS antenna
and, as expected, my gps signal went worst than first.
then i prepared a little square of aluminium foil by folding it about 4 times in order to get a certain amount of thickness
i also prepared a slice of adhesive tape by making a hole on the center
and finally i attached them to GPS antenna contact
after this i tested GPS in the same place and...et voilà!
which is exactly the same performance the phone had on the first weeks!
maybe this fix is not as elegant as possible but my aim is to make gps working before getting mad.. maybe you could simply change the module but i think that responsibility is of the other side of the contact, located on the frame. it's aluminium and maybe for warm and other reasons it loses his shape by making difficult communication between antenna on the module and phone.. take my theory as it is.. and enjoy!

Verification
Can anyone else verify that this is indeed a gps contact on the bottom module? I'm using the Hi-Fi module and it doesnt have a pin like the standard chin piece does.
I believe that this is unfortunately not the gps contact .
I have tried this fix now and it had no effect on me .
But let's wait on the experience of other users .
And thank you for your efforts, albenex!

I've written to ifixit to get their impression. If I look at the teardowns for this phone, there is an antenna inside the bottom module and the lead does connect to the phone's metal back. But then again, there are multiple leads on the motherboard which does the same! As others have noted in other posts, opening the phone and raising these leads has provided positive results as well, so could it be a combination of both?
Will keep everyone posted on what ifixit says.
For me the Fix didn't work at all. I still get no GPS Connection....
GPS is NOT in bottom cover cuz camplus and hifi dont even have that + you would hold antenna in your hand ( doesn't make any sense ) , there are multiple threads overhere and no one even reads them... USE YOUR BRAIN GUYS

no it doesn't hook to the metal back.. it hooks to a while flat *Something* which is electrically conducive (tested with a multimeter)
you can note a black line which i assume is scratch made by detachable module contact when it enters and exits
Let me get this straight, the bottom part does contain a antenna, it is connect by the PCB that you see sticking out within the phone, the wide one is the connection for mic, speaker and charging, whiles the thin long one has 2 copper conductor is for the radio antenna, I have opened the bottom unit, but if people who has the hifi plus or cam plus, the manual does state it contains the anttena for the radio, meanning the GPS antenna is within the phone.
Hope this clears up any misunderstanding.

i tried again isolating the mysterious hook and got not gps signal at all for all day long.
reversing back lead to immediate gps fix.
maybe it's not gps antenna but definitively is a gps-related thing!
i guess gps signal is in such way interfered with that and maybe cleaning up the connecting spot on the white-thing attached to rear case would be a good fix. just try and explore yourselves!
interesting:
i tried some aluminum foil and I got about the same amount of fixed satellites (7) and same first fix time but there were only 16 satellites available instead of 22-28.
Just maybe there are different antennas in our phone, one for gps, one for glonass (russian) and one for bds (chinese) as they all use different frequencies. That by the way would support the fact that those 3 little pins are indeed for the positioning system

yep, surely both things are mixed.. little 3pins and wide white antenna hooked with module.. if you isolate one of them you'll break gps signal
On my G5 H850, I had a few cases where GPS was having a problem getting a position.
In all of these cases I used GPS Status and Toolbox to reset the A-GPS state.
GPS Status and Toolbox, "top left hamburger menu", Manage A-GPS state, Reset.
After doing this GPS Status was able to get a fix quickly.
Following this, the Google maps and navigation worked normally.
The H850 comes with the gps.conf file set up to use NTP_SERVER=europe.pool.ntp.org
If you are rooted you can change the gps config file to use NTP_SERVER to be something in your region. They are just commented out.
This obviously won't help if you have a hardware problem, but some might just have A-GPS issues.

Hi all,
Thanks for this topic, just see it, after receiveing my G5 coming back from french LG'service (SBE by Allo PSM) for this problem
Default was : MKGF - GPS out of order. It takes 9 days to come back
Last time (I hope not) try first this solution
Mine wasn't rooted so warranty worked and pay nothing
See ya
Hello. The gps problem is a hardware issue, not software. I had the same problem, but it's now been gone for over a month and so far gps works like it should. There was a solution for bad gps on this forum, it included opening your device and pulling gps antena contact pins, located on the back of the display a bit up in order to make a better contact between the pins and gps antena contact pads which are placed on the inside of back cover, but people reported it only helped fo a day or two, probably because those fragile pins went back to their previous position, and that means bad connection with the antena pads. Now i took a bit different approach... If those f....ing pins are so fragile that putting the phone back together pushes them back down and gps gets broken again afted a day or two, why now make the antena pads a bit thicker. So i did.... I bought thinnest solder i could get (0.3 or 0.4mm wire diameter) to be able to be super accurate with the solder dosage, and i put a little solder on each pad, making them stick up about 0.1mm, maybe 0.15mm higher. I put the phone back together and voila.... Over a month later and no issues with gps at all. It connects to satelites quicker than my wive's G4 which does it super quick.
If you decide to do it with your device be very careful. Too much solder on the pads can cause a shortage in your device. Better to put less, then test, then put a tiny bit more etc. Than put too much and destroy your G5
Considering this phone is on warranty for most people, just SEND IT BACK! No point in finding weird ways of working around poor design from LG... They replaced the motherboard on mine and GPS locks just fine now. My Z force is still faster, but it's less of a pain than it used to.
Well... Weird or not, it works and about poor quality... I'd rather have a phone that needs a bit of tweaking done, than a device that can set my hands or trousers on fire without a warning

which car player do I have? can I change firmware?

Hi,
I've just brought a Chinese car player from tomtop (w w w . t o m t o p . c o m /p-k7189.html)
I'm trying to figure out which car player is it and if it is possible to install a custom firmware.
The main reason I want to do that is since the data partition is too small and I can't install more than 2-3 apps (so I need to decide if I want spotify or waze )
The box says it is CK-1018 and the user manual reference to ezonetronics (which I already contact but they asked me to contact tomtop instead....)
this is what I see in the info page:
If someone can help me identifying this player it would be awesome.

Everything seems to work reasonable fine for this price! Concerning internal storage I saw that 15GB would be free of the 16GB, didn't bump against a data storage problem, maybe later
Yes the manual is extremely short, maybe after your experiences you can help me with following questions:
1.When I turn on my car, the clock & date are always wrong, I always need to have wifi in my neighbourhood to synchronise.
I had set the date manually, but it keeps resetting, is it because there is no internal battery in this gps or it doesn't take a small amount of power from the car battery when sleeping ?
2.Is there a possibility to light up the buttons on the panel on the left ?
On youtube I saw some people with other gps'es that looked like this one, they could even choose the colour of the buttons in white, blue,...
3.Is the built in wifi 820.11 b/g or n ? (I think maybe a cheap b as my signal wasn't so good from my apartment (2nd floor) to my car parked in front).
4.For the mirrorlink via wifi "iphone" is mentioned, I will probably have to download another mirrorlink app as I don't have an iphone.
5.How would 4G work, with an android compatible stick & simcard in, connected to a free usb port, is an extra app needed ?
6.The radiostations can be stored is mentioned in this auction, I don't see any button to store them ? strange
7.The GPS with brackets is a bit smaller and can fall in my 2DIN, can the brackets be bent a bit that it's more firmly ?
Most brackets have some extra metal that can be bent so that it's more firmly fixed.
8.The steering wheel control, this is something that only works with cables?
Wireless would be nice, cause on the steering wheel this is a bit unhandy with cables.
i just buy the same unit too (i guess).
this is mine.
my experience, dont install car launcher agama. your unit will always hang n heat up.

i guess i can help a few answer.
1. nope. the clock not come from WiFi. its from gps or radio station because mine not is connect to any internet source.
it takes 1 or 2 minute to get the right time.
2. i'm pretty sure u cannot light up those button.
3. the gps signal is ok outside. yours was blocked by your apartment concrete slab.
4. -no idea-
5. -no idea-
6. yes. long press to save the channel.
7. dont place your GPS behind or any near the head unit's heat-sink.

On youtube I saw some people with other gps'es that looked like this one, they could even choose the colour of the buttons in white, blue,...

Yes, you can In factory settings select "key light settings", check "Open light" option and click + or - in brightness (it works too). Back->Save->Done!
Well I just installed everything, gps, .... don't want to go to factory settings now to start all over...
Strange that this wasn't activated by default, but I still doubt that the keys can be lighted up, maybe you have another model
I just saw youtube videos about the best launchers and tried a few, car launcher has a nice interface, but the play/next... seem to be for spotify and not many people have 4g on their car radio.
Tried to tweak the interface, but I don't think it's possible to put a play/next/back button directly on the home screen for the local mp3's.
If I saw good, Carwebguru could do this, just downloaded the APK as I don't seem to find it in the play store anymore.
Still have to get the back camera to work, it's connected with the yellow/red plug into my radio, but I guess I still have to connect the little red cable for power or the wire "back" when you drive backwards.
Don't know if an extra app will be needed for the camera, I saw some sort of app "DVR", maybe it's this one.
So this simply is a no-brand unit ?

Factory settings in menu (code: 8888) - it won't wipe your device. There are advanced options.

* GPS : no-brand Android 8.1 GO cheap €85 unit

It is fake 8.1 GO - in real it is just Android 6.
Decent unit for the price
After trying to get a 2012 Nexus 7 mounted and running the way I wanted it to with headunit reloaded, GPS, backup camera I gave up and bought this.
Is there anyway to update mcu/android/firmware?
It works okay with just google play music/maps but for headunit reloaded on a pixel 3, it stutters constantly when maps is open.
Looking forward to hearing more about this headunit.
Great, the lights work thanks!!!
I was surprised there were so many advanced options, I will have a look if there is something else interesting to tune (but not too much offcourse
The only thing I need to do is to get the camera to work, I attached the 2 red & yellow coax (or whatever) cables to the unit.
But it doesn't work as I forgot to attach that small red cable, probably that's the power.
Also there is a purple wire on the unit "reverse", I still have to see if I can attach this somewhere, that the backcamera starts automatically.
Then opening the housing of my car to put away the 3 meter long cable and drill some holes in my numberplate.
Then testing the USB unit with 4 tire pressure monitor caps to put on the wheels, hope this will work out of the box.
The last thing I have to do i testing the 4G stick that I bought on a free usb-cable, if this works out of the box, for android probably no drivers will be needed I hope
I think i'm going to have usb connections short on this unit

how to change boot logo..i mean the car logo using my own logo..trying using by browsing the custom logo in the logo setting but when reboot it not show my logo..
Rear view cam
Dvr is for the front safety cam. Dash cam...
To connect rear camera:
Yellow chinch to yellow chinch is obvious...
But the red cable sticking out of the cable is s "signal" wire, you must plug it into "reverse" eire on the unit.
On the other end, you connect the signal wire to a plus on the reverse light (so when it lightes up he unit will automaticly switch to reverseing camera screen).
The chinch is a video wire that transmits an image from canera.
Do not connect the power wires for the camera to the ame wire as the signal wire because you'll get image flickering on working engine.

Haha, I bought the same one too and installed it today, my version is with an Android 8.1 GO, that's a light version for mobile devices, a bit higher than yours on the picture.

With #1 : you connected the battery constant power wrong, there are two wires, red and yellow. One need constant power (at all time)and the other with the ignition on (or accessories)
May be i can help with #2
Setting--factory settings 8888--key light settings ...... those buttons light up ,no colors ,only white
#3 :
Turn to desired station manually (example:90.1 ) Then HOLD any of the presets at the bottom, the new frequency number will appear and new location will be stored
# 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,....etc ask the seller

Do you have any idea on how to root this player? I wanna install an older version of Google maps on it but can't because a newer version is already installed as a system app

Same here. I found this https://4pda.ru/forum/lofiversion/index.php?t936535-400.html but it's in Russian and I don't get it even with Google Translate. Hopefully someone can post a step-by-step method based on that
