If I get a micro usb > HDMI adaptor, will it output my display to a TV ?
Extra apps needed ?
It's called MHL. Defy/+ doesn't support it.

Hi, I have an asus TF300TL an I have a hdmi to rca cable to connect to my tv.
At my Tablet don't activate the hdmi out so i need to activate it manually. There are a way to do it on android?
Thx
What kind of an adaptor do I need to connect my nexus 10 to my TV (it's an older TV, not flat screen, not HD. I don't care about losing the HD, just the size.)
Thanks!
Micro HDMI to HDMI, DVI, or maybe even Component (not 100% sure on that). If the TV doesn't have any of that, then you'll likely need an Analog converter to go from HDMI to VGA, Composite, or RCA.

Check your TV. If it has HDMI, you want micro-HDMI to HDMI. If it doesn't have HDMI, but does have DVI, you'll want that.
If it has neither HDMI nor DVI, you'll need a new TV Or an HDMI to analog converter.
Nexus 10 to CRT TV connection
I have a nexus 10 tablet running stock 4.4.2. I bought an hdmi to rca converter from amazon.com and a micro hdmi to hdmi cable so that I could hook up the tablet to my old sharp crt tv. When I plug in the connections I am seeing a stripe coloured screen that says 'no signal ntsc'. when i turn the switch on the converter to pal it says 'no signal pal'. Could you tell me why this is happening and if anything could be done so that I can see the content from my tablet on my tv? Do I need any software/app installed to make this work? The only ports on the tv are the composite rca ones. I know the tv is old but its its 55 inches and in perfect working condition so I really don't want to purchase another so please if there is anything you know that would help I would be more than greatful.
My setup: the microhdmi to hdmi cable plugged into the micro hdmi port on the tablet, then the rca cable connects to the back of the tv and the rca ports on the converter. Should work?? Help me please. Thanks in advance.
According to iFixit the Nexus 4 contains a SlimPort ANX7808 SlimPort Transmitter (HDMI output converter) chip..
Would this mean we do not need a Micro USB Slim Port MHL to HDMI adapter?
Instead a simple micro hdmi to hdmi cable should work right?

No. Micro-HDMI and micro-USB are different connections - similar size but different shapes. You will need a special Slimport HDMI adapter to make HDMI-out work.
Hi,
Does anyone know if Slimport will work if I use a hdmi to vga adaptor/cable on the other end?
As in: Nexus 4>Slimport>HDMI cable>HDMI to VGA adaptor>Monitor.
Thanks
Don't take my word for it, but there is no HDMI to VGA adapter, you'd need a small converter box. Even with that box, I don't know if it will truly work.
What you could do for sure is Nexus 4 > Slimport > HDMI to DVI Adapter > DVI
Ah ok thanks. Searching amazon I see that they have HDMI to VGA in one single cable. do you think that would work?
Slimport to HDMI-VGA adapter didn't work

I tried what you mentioned but didn't work. I thought it was a "power" problem so I connected the power supply cable and didn't work either. I tested slimport and HDMI to DVI adapter separated and both work so I don't know what could be the problem.
I bought this HDMI to VGA adapter: Search for "Black HDMI Input to VGA Adapter Converter For PC Laptop" on Amazon, I cannot post external links yet
Problem might also be Slimport requiring HDCP... but I don't know if that is actually the case.
Since our port is USB C and I have an HDMI and VGA adapter in hand, I have tried connecting the phone to an external monitor.
But, nothing works. Is there anyway we can get an external monitor working?
You can't because A1 don't support mhl, as far as I know it required the phone to have usb 3.1 to support usb c to vga/hdmi output. But you can use chormecast if you want to use wireless method.
Edit: Nope, check the Xiaomi official page:

Wasnt MHL a old standard? The USB-C should have a HDMI Alt feature. You should try connecting a device with native HDMI input, without VGA or other adapters.
