Display to external monitor? - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Since our port is USB C and I have an HDMI and VGA adapter in hand, I have tried connecting the phone to an external monitor.
But, nothing works. Is there anyway we can get an external monitor working?

You can't because A1 don't support mhl, as far as I know it required the phone to have usb 3.1 to support usb c to vga/hdmi output. But you can use chormecast if you want to use wireless method.

Edit: Nope, check the Xiaomi official page:

Wasnt MHL a old standard? The USB-C should have a HDMI Alt feature. You should try connecting a device with native HDMI input, without VGA or other adapters.

[Q]Output to VGA

So, let's be honest....90 % of all beamers require a VGA input (only a few work with dvi-d or usb) Now, the transformer offers the mini hdmi output....how to resolve it as I would like to use my device for presentations...
1)buy a mini HDMI to HDMI cable and then a HDMI to VGA converter (expensive)
2)buy a USB to VGA adapter, which will not work as the tablet itself has no USB interface and if it had one, it would probably not work with Android...
Any other solutions?
Regards,
Tom
i'm responding under the assumption that beamer = projector, so yea, #1 is your only option.
although i question the your whole 90% statistics. most new projectors come with hdmi and dvi now.
but for a mini-hdmi-to-hdmi-to-vga setup, checkout monoprice.com. it'll probobaly run you 10-15 bucks.
I don't need a signature.
Mini-HDMI to HDMI adapter -> HDMI to DVI cable -> DVI to VGA adapter
I think thats the best combo you can get, lets you reuse the HDMI to DVI for something else if you need to and the DVI to VGA adapter is always useful too.

[Q] A500 to Computer monitor not working

I have a...
micro-hdmi -> hdmi cable,
adaptator F/F Hdmi
then Cable HDMI to DVI
because the monitor only has dvi and vga so i had do it this way.
But when i plug in the micro hdmi on the tablet it recognizes its plugged in but nothing shows on the monitor, its just black - but the tablet recognizes its plugged in via micro hdmi
This works on a hd tv just wont kick my monitor on
Anyone else had this problem or can help me?
Thanks,
Collin
Sounds like it's the monitor. If you're connecting to a DVI on it then it maybe that the tablet needs some sort of communication back
from the monitor that is only possible through an HDMI... since it's 'smarter' than a DVI. Probably...
Try using just the microHDMI adapter to a HDMI to DVI cable. All in one... you know HDMI on one end and a DVI on the other. So you end up with just 2 cables/pieces. Good luck!

[Q] Keyboard/Mouse

Hi.
I haven't yet tried to use a keyboard/mouse on a tablet before. Is this something USB otg can facilitate if I plug one in?
Does Android support keyboard/mouse in the first place?
Yes it does, and as far as I know, it always has. Even on your phone, if you connect a regular bluetooth mouse or keyboard, they should work out of the box.
Edit: clarification: most phones don't have OTG capabilities, so that's why I mentioned bluetooth, as it's the only way to have those peripherals connected. Devices which support OTG should work with regular USB peripherals.
I wonder if the N10 will somehow create a new market for micro-usb components, so people won't need a OTG cable.

[Q] Question about SlimPort

So the Nexus 4 doesn't have USB OTG support. That sucks. I'm fairly certain the answer on the following question will be "no", but I've still got hope.
With SlimPort, you can connect your Nexus 4 to a HDMI monitor, similar to MHL. It also charges your device. In my amazing Dell ST2220T touch monitor (well, the touch isn't so amazing, but the screen quality is), there are four USB ports. When I connect my Nexus 4 to my monitor with SlimPort, would I be able to plug in a keyboard and mouse in the USB ports on my monitor?
If not, I could use bluetooth (if you can connect multiple devices at least, both mouse and keyboard) or use the touch functionality on my monitor, but I'm not sure that works because it's a seperate cable.
It would be really cool to use the N4 as a sort of mini computer. Like Ubuntu had in mind. I can connect it to my speakers, to my monitor, I'm only hoping that I won't have to buy bluetooth accessoires. I prefer to use my wired accessoires, or if that isn't possible the touch functionality of my monitor, but I'm fairly both won't be possible.
the usb on your monitor would have a upstream connector that goes into your pc, so it won't work with phone,
you have to use bluetooth keyboard and mouse

So even if the N4 had USB Host support, I still wouldn't be able to use a wired keyboard and mouse together with the SlimPort, right? I doubt there's some adapter that can do both.
The slimport controller acts as a switch, it either routes usb or displayport signals though the data pins, the usb lanes are not connected while it's in use.
While displayport does contain aux pins for handling additional stuff such as usb (hypothetically?), those pins do not exist in our setup.

Moto G6 Plus HDMI via USB type-C

Could anyone, please, let me know if there is a way to use the USB type-C connector to cast video to a HDMI input? I have a Moto G6 Plus connected to a EKSA ET9-H HUB which has HDMI and VGA outputs, but none of them delivers video signal to my TV.
Thanks in advanced.

You would need to have USB 3.1 Gen 2 phone to support such an output/input, whereas Moto G6 Plus has USB 2.0 only over USB-C connector to offer. Better duplicate your screen via chromecast-like device. If you need input you would need some kind of supported video-grabber over USB OTG I suppose.
Thanks. A very clear answer.
