Getting ready for brickbats, I send in this query.
I have an HD2. I want to try Android OS on it. However, the information in the forums is quite overwhelming for someone like me, who only knows the front end of the phone. I have searched the forums for methods and which version to use, but end up getting lost.
All I know till now is that I need to download the Android file and save it on the phone and then run it. But which version(there are so many!)? What are things that work, and do not work? What all do I need to do for a functional phone after I port it?
My apologies if the answer to this has already been posted somewhere; please point me to it and I shall be grateful.
Please help!
R
Sorry mate, but all the answers to your questions are in the threads in the development section.
Just pick one and read the first post (realistically, read the first few pages). That gives you all the info you need on running Android.
Just go from ROM to ROM and read what's already been written about them, in order to decide which to use.
Thank you John! I will do that!

This is a simply guide as to how to get Adobe flash running on Nexus S 4.1.1
Note: As many of you are aware as of Jelly Bean Adobe flash is no longer officially supported
1> Download Adobe Flash Player for Android from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?mjodwbaka3tj8gd
2> Copy the .apk file to the SD card of your Nexus S device
3> Install it using a File Manager of your choice
4> Open Browser
5> Go to the Browser settings and un-check the option for Flash Player
You will now have the latest version of Flash unofficially on your Nexus S
Note: This tutorial should work with any other Android device running Jelly Bean

posting guides that you've clearly taken from posts elsewhere on the web or even here on xda, passing them off as your own and brazenly pleading for people to hit your "thanks" button is taking the piss.
You've posted guides on rooting, forcing OTA updates, and now installing flash player.
All of these were available elsewhere first, none of the work is your own, and nowhere have you acknowledged the original source of your guides.
Its called plagiarism....either stop posting, reference the original source, stop pimping for thanks or I'll report you to the mods, ok?

WOW....I try to help people and this is what I get, being accused of "plagiarism" First of all I don't copy others post's and secondly how dare you come onto a thread I created for the better good and to help others and you come on here and attempt to give it a bad name? I worked hard on my posts I try to make them as understanding and as easy to read as possible. My OTA update post I created that because JB had only just come out and not many people knew how to get it, I checked there was NO thread as to how to update it there might be now but when I posted there wasn't. Same with my root guide it contains links to files I put together no-body else did, I did. And as for the post on Adobe Flash yes that might have been more known of but it still is a useful piece of information to know. Whats wrong with asking for thanks if you have done something to help others? It doesn't cost nothing and it is just a simple click, it helps to build ones reputation. Please do know you facts next time. Go search I even dare you and find posts that have the same information I put up but before I posted them. MyPhone.gr an online Greek mobile support forum has used several of my posts. Did they give me credit? No they didn't. Do I care? No I don't as long as it helps others I don't care if others use my posts. Please don't come onto my posts again with no beneficial information and accuse me of this and that. I will have you reported.
Good day to you,
AlanS181824

Alan,
I dare Pal.
You post other people's ideas and work and claim it for your own. You should at least reference where you got your information from as its clearly not your own.
The least you're guilty of is being too "unimaginative" to Google and to see that (amazingly coincidentally) there are already almost identical posts already on XDA or other forums (posted before yours) containing your guides.
The worst you're guilty of is claiming the credit for other people's work.
So what's it to be, incompetence or dishonesty?
ps. I welcome the chance to exchange some date-stamped links with the mod. The evidence won't lie > this one posted on 15 July is almost identical to the post you're claiming the credit for yesterday the 25th http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774336

Thank u.
Maybe he is just new and little bit 2 "thanks" hungry, but he definitely needs 2 focus on using search button...
Greg, I wouldn't mind if he just said "hey guys this isn't my work, I spotted it elsewhere, thanks are due too xxxxx" but he just passes stuff off as his own. Its so blatant and he's very pushy on the "thank me"s. I spotted his other threads before and ignored them, but this one is just too blatant and too much, I had to say something. Very obvious after a bit of googling

I'm new as a posted to XDA but I'v ebeen making kernels for the Nexus S for a good while now. I've managed to take the GIT of android 4.2 and get to to compile with the crespo source from the cyanogenmod jellybean GIT repo with some minor modifications.
I currently have a GT9020A (fido canada network) and I'm currently running android 4.2 on it with my custom kernel.
Kernel Changes
-Overclocking enabled to 1.3 ghz as that's the highest I could get my phone to go stable
-added VR i/o scheduler as default
-added smartassv2 as default governor
-removed fsync for performance (francisco kernel)
I upgraded this os from a stock android 4.1.2 firmware all I needed to do is wipe cache no factor reset
I don't currently have a working installation of APPS and the image is not rooted. Like I said I'm new to this.
Since I haven't posted on the forums before I can't post a link to the firmware I made. Can anyone help me with this?

I guess the issue is that I haven't currently made 10 posts on xda-developers therefore I'm not allowed to post external links guess I'll have to be patient and post regularly so I can actually get the links out there.
Contact the user darkargon here on xda. Or on irc.freenode.net #andromirror. He hosts builds/roms for free and with great support.
Can we PM? I want to build for sgs1 i9000 which should be similar to your device.
I have fully synced android-4.2_rc1 and cyanogenmod jellybean git repo as you did but now I'm stuck.

I don't think the problem is hosting, as others have seemed to assume. I think he can't post the link without having 10 posts
I would to try that ROM as well. It easy to see 10 posts.

the option doesn't exist in the 4.2 stock source because google isn't making one for the crespo. I added crespo to the source from CM10
you can add it by extracting this file to the root of your 4.2 source

I have an HTC Glacier/MyTouch 4G that I bought with Pac Man ROM 4.2.2 installed and fully functioning. I would like to update it to the latest build but I'm confused about a couple of things and I can't find the answers so hopefully someone here can either point me in the direction of a guide or is willing to take pity on my soul and answer my questions here. {{Deep breath....} Here we go...
I understand the steps required to upgrade the ROM. What I don't understand is which actual files (not G apps) I'm supposed to download when I get to the page which lists all of the files. For instance, when I follow the link to "Download PAC ROM here", I get to a page with a long list of folders with random names.
How do I know which folder to select and once inside the folder, which files do I download? I assume that page is the nightlies? But all of the folders have one of two dates. I'm confused and would have asked this question in the Forum at their site but clicking any other page on the site takes me to a log in page and a popup message about adblocker which just keeps reloading endlessly.
I really appreciate someone helping me out, and I'll be happy to pay you for your time via PayPal if you'll walk me through acquiring the necessary files. The actual act of upgrading I think I can handle.
Thanks for your time!

4.3 or whatever the most stable, latest version is. The problem I'm having is figuring out which folder to select after I get to the downloads page at the Pac Rom site. I can not find the answer to this anywhere. What am I missing? Thanks for the assistance.

[NOTE]Hi. Ive been looking around the thread and I cant find an appropriate one so I just created one. Please let me know if there is redundancy that i have missed.[/NOTE]
This thread came from an acknowledgement that the Developer Preview still has some benefits especially to those who have been itching for major updates (like me hehe). The primary purpose is to maintain important files, and to share/talk about new features and stuffs, also some advantages.
Unfortunately, there is no one maintaining it yet. Especially for those who have missed the Preview sign up almost a year ago, having a link to try it out would be nice. Midgetmob's very comprehensive links dont have it yet.
Recently we've found out that Preview update 2 was released, FEATURING ANDROID N!!! Sweet right? Unfortunately, if you are not on the Developers Preview OS, you wont receive the OTA update.
SO please ANYONE, if you have the original file for the Developer's Preview for US-LTE, RoW-LTE, and WIFI versions, kindly share here The ones provided at the Vulkan Preview Thread no longer works. :/
Thanks in advance!

I'm not really encouraging well-principled people to break NDA but it won't matter when people can sign up here at XDA with a different username and just send a link to their uploaded file, right?
I might still miss out on the big picture though..
OK guys, in the other thread I've just been educated about the level of integrity here at XDA and I get it.
Since I've also applied for the Developer Preview, I will just ask Nvidia to resend the original link
I found my email from them, but when I attempted to reply it got sent back to me. It seems it's no longer working.
