posting guides that you've clearly taken from posts elsewhere on the web or even here on xda, passing them off as your own and brazenly pleading for people to hit your "thanks" button is taking the piss.
You've posted guides on rooting, forcing OTA updates, and now installing flash player.
All of these were available elsewhere first, none of the work is your own, and nowhere have you acknowledged the original source of your guides.
Its called plagiarism....either stop posting, reference the original source, stop pimping for thanks or I'll report you to the mods, ok?

WOW....I try to help people and this is what I get, being accused of "plagiarism" First of all I don't copy others post's and secondly how dare you come onto a thread I created for the better good and to help others and you come on here and attempt to give it a bad name? I worked hard on my posts I try to make them as understanding and as easy to read as possible. My OTA update post I created that because JB had only just come out and not many people knew how to get it, I checked there was NO thread as to how to update it there might be now but when I posted there wasn't. Same with my root guide it contains links to files I put together no-body else did, I did. And as for the post on Adobe Flash yes that might have been more known of but it still is a useful piece of information to know. Whats wrong with asking for thanks if you have done something to help others? It doesn't cost nothing and it is just a simple click, it helps to build ones reputation. Please do know you facts next time. Go search I even dare you and find posts that have the same information I put up but before I posted them. MyPhone.gr an online Greek mobile support forum has used several of my posts. Did they give me credit? No they didn't. Do I care? No I don't as long as it helps others I don't care if others use my posts. Please don't come onto my posts again with no beneficial information and accuse me of this and that. I will have you reported.
Good day to you,

Thanks for notifying me the guide you post isn't a tutorial whereas the one I posted is and I have no idea how to move a thread
Sincerely,

Alan,
I dare Pal.
You post other people's ideas and work and claim it for your own. You should at least reference where you got your information from as its clearly not your own.
The least you're guilty of is being too "unimaginative" to Google and to see that (amazingly coincidentally) there are already almost identical posts already on XDA or other forums (posted before yours) containing your guides.
The worst you're guilty of is claiming the credit for other people's work.
So what's it to be, incompetence or dishonesty?
ps. I welcome the chance to exchange some date-stamped links with the mod. The evidence won't lie > this one posted on 15 July is almost identical to the post you're claiming the credit for yesterday the 25th http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774336

Thank u.
Maybe he is just new and little bit 2 "thanks" hungry, but he definitely needs 2 focus on using search button...

Greg, I wouldn't mind if he just said "hey guys this isn't my work, I spotted it elsewhere, thanks are due too xxxxx" but he just passes stuff off as his own. Its so blatant and he's very pushy on the "thank me"s. I spotted his other threads before and ignored them, but this one is just too blatant and too much, I had to say something. Very obvious after a bit of googling

[21 Nov 2011][Video Tutorial]HTC HD2: How To Install Ice Cream Sandwich - Android 4.0

Hey guys, made a video tutorial on how to install ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich)
In the video i show you how to install tytungs NexusHD2 ICS ROM. I know other roms may use slightly different methods but you can modify my tutorial to work on your rom e.g. if the rom your installing tells you that you need a 250mb partition, then flash a 250mb partition instead of the 200mb one that i use in the video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpuuwvZQRPI
also made a walkthrough/demo of tytungs rom
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcdeaWB-lWM
No offense, but is this really necessary? And in the development subforum? After this long in the HD2's lifecycle im sure just about everyone knows how to flash a rom, as this isn't any different to install than any other android rom. Regardless, props for trying to help people out.
video tutorials are the pits... pictorials are where it's at.
reasoning? You can't update a video, you just have to post a brand new one, and either delete the old one or put a link for the new one in the old one, this is not conducent to clear understanding.

Agreed. This is pretty pointless.
There are plenty of guides already and this isnt really specific to ICS anyway, The steps are basically same for all roms.

the thing is some people actually don't know how to do it, i agree that most people should, but i get messaged all the time on my youtube channel asking how to flash stuff or asking me to help them with problems they are having flashing roms. and it may be pointless to you but if it helps a few people then its not pointless.

Problem is people don't search anymore.
Everything about flashing can be found at the right places, shouldn't be so hard!
If you can't find it, then you're not smart enough to flash it anyway.....
It's no rocket science!
Hmmm. I think this thread although made with good intentions is unnecessary and confusing. The tiltle suggests that there's some special method of flashing ics. Clearly there isn't and there are guides tutorials all over the place (including stickies) for flashing everything.

But if these "few" don't have the mental capacity to look at sticky topics or use search then they shouldn't be attempted to flash their phone in first place.
Thans for trying to be helpfull. But really this topic is pointless.
Its standard procedure not different from any other rom. And there is no point in making tutorial for every ROM. Only difference is in recovery size, cache...etc.
This is way backward and redundant, shouldn't be in dev thread, better place is in Q&A.
No offense but pls close this thread...

Agreed, not sure what the OP was thinking tbh. Is he/she/somebody else going to create a video guide for every rom even though steps are same?
Well at least, tytung's work has been featured on many websites, partially thanks to that video (it's a known fact that blogs prefer to add a video to a post).

Yes but that has got nothing to do with posting the said video in a dev thread. This rom does not need any special installation and is no different any other install and does not need to be in a dev forum.

IMO the only thing wrong with this thread is that it could cause some confusion as people may think that ICS uses a different flashing method. The thread placement is, as far as I'm concerned, fine

One click rooting method in less than 2 minutes

Root your phone without unlocking the bootloader. How? A new application called UnlockRoot does it all for you! Literally, all you need to do is download the UnlockRoot.exe, run it and enjoy your new rooted device. I can confirm that it is 100% working and took about 2 minutes from start to finish.
All you have to do is connect to your computer, enable USB debugging which is accessible through Settings>applications>devlopment>USB debugging
open UnlockRoot.exe and click root, after that it should take the comp. 1 min tounlock then 1 min to reboot then voila you have it rooted! You will then see the superuser app inside your app drawer. I recommend you to download busybox and titanium backup to have full control on your device. I've just rooted my xperia play and my wife's arc s using method. Both of them are running v2.3.4 so this should work on lower versions.
If there will be an instance wherein your device didn't reboot automatically, manually restart your device.

I checked out the site and it doesnt say compatible with Xperia PLAY or any SE phones for that matter. Plus I am already rooted and unlocked bootloader. The site looks a little questionable like maybe the software could be virus filled. I dont know though. Only way to find out would be to try it, and for that I have no reason to. IT show support for the Kindle Fire. Anyone try it?

First of all that is not my site and i'm not a spammer. I only posted this method in two different forums, the other one is in the android general hacking tips. The only reason why i mentioned the site is because i'm having problems uploading the unlockroot.exe launcher in this thread. As you can see,i'm only a new member and i don't usually start threads. I'm just trying to help because i had a lot of frustrations using other rooting methods. I have a descent job and i'm not gonna benefit in spamming so don't accuse me. I just felt very excited to share this method as this worked like a charm for my xperia play. I'm not forcing you to try this so ban me if you feel like doing so.

I noticed that too but trust me,it worked for my xperia play and my wife's arc s. Both of them are running the latest android v2.3.4 that's why i'm very surprised that it worked. Other rooting methods didn't work for that version so i resorted to doomlord's method but i'm having problems installing the adb drivers as i'm using windows7. I'm so happy using this method because it's very safe,no need to unlock your bootloader. Best regards!

No, offense, but if you post directly to their home site, it makes it seem a lot more legit than just posting a link to your download account.

Sorry bro but i already did that when i started this thread. I just edited my post because that d31boy guy is accussing me of being a spammer and just promoting that site.
When I see a brand new poster posting a link to relatively unknown website for use of an unknown exe file, it's hard not to be suspicious. I mean, you obviously know the benefits of root and you know your way around this site. The site has absolutely no mention of how the root is applied (which isn't your fault provided you don't have an affiliation to the site ). It's a pretty big leap of faith.
However, I may have jumped in a bit too quick on this one. It would have been better just to report the post and allow a mod to make a more informed decision. For that, I apologise.
All this method is, is the zergRush method with a different name...
Here's what I did (quick run thought of what i did, attached screenshot for reference)
Downloaded it from the OP's post (http://unlockroot.com was running at 2000BYTES/SEC)
Installed it on my XP partition
rebooted, went to my linux partition
Mounted XP Partition
went to \Program Files\Unlockroot\tools\
Copied rootutility to /home/myusername/
adb shell rm -r /data/local/tmp
adb shell mkdir /data/local/tmp
adb push rootutility /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/rootutility
adb shell /data/local/rootutility

[Q] Zips Creamed Glacier..need help

Sorry, Noob here..my 1st post, actually.
I installed zip's creamed glacier 3.11 after using 3.10 for a few days. My problem only is that I backup everything to my pc before I install any rom and once I installed 3.11 the option to switch to storage doesn't work. Sooo...I ended up reverting back to 3.10 so I could reload all my music, pics, etc...
My question is, was this supposed to be fixed and it was just me that was the problem or is this a problem for anyone else?
definitely a noob LOL, youd have much better luck posting in zips thread... technically, thats where you SHOULD be posting..
i dont use zips so i cant help you but yea.. ask in his thread for results gl
yes, a noob
...exactly why I can't post on his thread...you need at least 10 posts... quite ridiculous if you ask me.. How am I supposed to post on a thread if I have to start one on my own just because I'm new to the site?

Download Multi Mount app or
use adb push method to copy files to your sd card
depending upon your recovery - you may have options there too. i use clockwordmod as my recovery - you can mount the usb from the cwm recovery, copy over your files and then update without having to restart, etc. (you can even back it up from cwm)

I understand the PSA is warning against flashing with the official LPY update from Samsung. I don't think Samsung have withdrawn the update or acknowledged any risk.
If your kid gets hit by a ferrari i am sure that ferrari will not withdraw their car, nor admit that they are dangerous..
But just ignore all the warnings and be a happy camper
The battery savings are worth the risk for me. But that's just me.

It would appear that the advice from xda-developers is that it is safe to flash the official Samsung German LPY update and a guide is provided here:
http://www.xda-developers.com/tag/samsung-galaxy-note/
Perhaps someone could explain why there appears to be a conflict between the PSA and the xda-developers.
Maybe because that article is ten days old ???
And considering all the work done this week,
10 days is like a man's life....
I recommend the ParanoidAndroid because it's on a safe kernel. I found a guide on the same website you provided.

How the hell do you translate that into "safe to flash" - Both of the last two articles make references to the dangers of Samsung ICS kernels.

[PRO] guide to update to ICS for noobs

Hey guys. First off, I am not from the xperia community so don't flame me if I dont know where to post this. There isn't a xperia pro thread and I saw something about the pro in the Arc thread so I decided to post this here. I am just helping out a friend. So here it is. He asked me how to update the Pro to stock ICS. With some back and forth between us, I think I have given him the answer. Please tell me if this guide ( well, its not really a guide just links to the guide) is good, or if we have to do something else. Thank You.
HERE IT IS:
Ok...well lets sort things out.
I see where you got the file from: http://xperiadev.wordpress.com/flashing/xperia-ftf-firmwares/ which is the mirrored link from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1682185
But, if you clicked on the source in the page you sent me, you'll go http://www.XPERIA.cz/ which eventually would get you to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1651463 ( this I think is where there is an update.zip as someone mentioned about it)
The ftf file needs Flashtool - http://xperiadev.wordpress.com/guidelines-xperia/flashtool-fastboot/ to be flashed.
And done.
I got all of that from the link you sent me. For the flashtool method, I think the reason it say you MAY void warranty is because the amount of customization that program has.
I keep seeing all this talk about Emma, so on Sony's website I found this PDF ( in attachments)
DUDE, IF YOU MAKE SENSE OF ALL OF THIS YOU ARE GOOD.
FROM SONY, therefore official:
Now from big daddy themselves, http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/35239 That site give good information. Follow that site on how to use flashtool. And see, you could also root, but don't. Not yet. This site is from Sony and thing, so remember to read everything. They mentioned taking out your sim and sd which I say is smart. The only thing is that they mentioned something about Sony Update Service -http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/update-service/ "your wish if you want to stay on it but i suggest you to repair your phone software using SUS. It will reinstall the original ICS software in your mobile For that download SUS and follow the onscreen instructions SONY UPDATE SERVICE"
So yeah read everything I have here and lets go,
How I will do it? Well, I would ignore everything else and follow Sony's method. Its the same thing, but seeing how they explained how to do it, it'll be easier.
How To Update Your Xperia to Android 4.0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crcwr9BAtjU
Follow this video. It is really good. Lol, as a side note, I knew this guy was trini the time I heard him.
Anything else, just ask. So remember, read everything. But I say watch the video before going to Sony's guide.
The video is very good, so if you have any advance question leave him a question in the comment section in his video and he could help you. Not now, but when you wanna root, make an xda account on xda developers. You can ask questions, create a thread and give input there.
PS. The reason I didn't know about the ftf file is because it is only for Sony devices and I never had experienced with them.
OK, so remember, I am an HTC Amaze user not an xperia user so I'm a noob in Sony's phone, per-se.
Sent from my HTC Amaze 4G using xda app-developers app
