Can someone please point me in the direction to where it is said Ubuntu will have development for the galaxy nexus first?
Sure. The galaxy nexus probably has the most development options for it. Was the galaxy nexus not first... If not close to one of the first phones to run 4.2
I dunno. I'm nothing more then a noob..
But I'm tired of hearing if Ubuntu will be coming to your phone.
Let's be honest. Ubuntu will probably be as easy to port to your device as cyanogen.
this is just my own theory.
Let me know what you think. But try not to get too pissed off at my ignorance Haha.

Wow... Thanks.. You must be a hell of a good and smart developer .. Now I feel stupid because when I try to port cyanogen to a device it seems to be so f... hard that i usually give up on it and do something else that is fun like programming things .. I mean i develop software the whole day at work with Qt/C++/C# and get paid for it and that don't seem to be so easy either , it f.. My brain sometimes..
The cyanogen people do it for free, heck the people that will port Ubuntu will do it for free... Don't say its easy , it never is easy...
I should get a new job I guess..

It depends on the phone really. Which phones have proprietary drivers like HTC.its been a hell of a time just getting good jellybean ports to work good on the rezound. So it really depends on the phone I think.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
Looks like Canonical copy/pasted/edited CyanogenMod code. Doing the same would be a quick way to start porting to your device. http://phablet.ubuntu.com/gitweb

I mean really, epic win for motorola's marketing team
Motorola can suck it. Did we all forget they are trying to keep there phones from being unlocked? Also, cant you unlock the iPhone and get flash that way?
Lastly, most of us unlock our phones so we can get the extra featuers the devs left out or the carriers locked us from. Personaly the iPhone is just as capable if not better and doing some of the stuff our phones do. Not only that but it paved the way for Android. I never owned an I phone my rep on PPCGeeks is far above my posts so I am not a fan boy flagging you blind fools. Just stating the obvious. Ill probably never own an iPhone. Something about apple I just cant get it. They market these devices that all do the same thing. An iPod touch is an iPhone without the phone. Why would you need both and many people do by both. Whatever, not that you guys are idiots but there are just to many idiots spending money on something as dumb as an iProduct. Steve Jobs easily owns the pawns that by his crap.
Dang I am just contradictive today.
two things i love about iphone - games and battery life
other wise i prefer everything else about the evo
but to increase battery life i'm getting a second battery tomorrow - another thing iphone can't do haha
also i am an apple fan myself but not a fanboy of anything

my view on this matter is "no product is better then the other, just one happens to have features you like better then the other"
Ok so I was thinking, if froyo isn't being released for the epic, but the samsung tablet is coming out with 2.2 would it be possible to just take the kernel and everything necessary to run 2.2 on the epic. And maybe write some other scripts and things to make it work? Or is that just too impossible? If so I think I might be able to stop by the sprint store that my buddy manages and use their equipment to pull some things.
Apologies for posting in the wrong section if I did.

I think that Samsung has promised Froyo on all Galaxy s variants to date. The problem is that we will likely be the last to get it.:-(
The real question is Gingerbread. I suspect that the sheer volume of Galaxy S subscribers globally will get it, but because we don't have the numbers, we may not.

Then that will just be another mark against samsung and in a since sprint. Would be enough to insure most never buy samsung again and might even push people onto diffrent carriers for their phones

They only promised Froyo, unless you have sources that we don't have. Gingerbread is still uncertain.
It looks like the community may have to do it. It shouldn't shock anyone really. Either we won't get or when we get it, it will be so late that the next version of Android will be out.

Let's face it once google announced the ics as the next version of android why do some people still want gb when ics can be leaked and used on our phones. Google needs to be the one doing the updates not the carriers and phone makers. Google should open a beta and prebeta builds to all who want them.

For someone who's been around since the 70's you seem to not understand the development life cycle of a product to be expecting such an asinine thing to happen.
Using win7 (retail) to win8 (alpha) argument proves your failure to grasp that.
BTW, i love how decad3nce pwned your last post. LOL

Because to us Gingerbread is the most important release ever! Gingerbread was made with Hummingbird in mind..ICS is a huge improvement for dual core phones..while we definitely get some new features, you would not notice such huge performance increases as you do with Gingerbread.
Locked. OP, check your pm's.
No complaints, just a place to sing the praises of the awesomeness that is CM9.
I for one love CM9. Sure, there's some things that could be improved, but this rom is just amazing. I especially love that ICS is working on a phone that Samsung was just to lazy to work on. We get the benefits of Matias Duarte's amazing talent combined with the real-world-minded approach to porting of the ABSOLUTELY AMAZING AND FABULOUS CM9 developer team.
And perhaps the best thing: This is a work in progress, so that means regular updates with continued improvements.
What could be better?
So, to everyone involved, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Also 1st !
It is not that Samsung was too lazy it was that it would require them to give up their proprietary BML partition or restructure it which if done by OTA would stand to great a risk of bricking the phone, especially one over a year and a half old.
Beta 0 is very fast and snappy. Thank you CM9 team.

all thanks to the awesome people of CM9 team!

but with iphone users. haha
Time to give this thread a bump.
Beta2 rocks. I look at some of the other threads about what the future of CM9 should be, and I can't help but thinking,"NOOOOO! DON'T MESS WITH IIIIITTTTT!"
I think I'm going to stick with Beta2 until I see some overwhelmingly compelling reason to update again.
Just sayin'.

I'm also loving beta 2! As much as I would like to get a Gnex, this dedicated support has turned my epic into the poor mans Gnex. :-]

Don't ask. It haven't even been released yet.
Don't come here to whine about it. Wait until the Ubuntu rom has actually been released and just wait for any interest from devs in your phone forum. If there is no interest then either give up on hope for Ubuntu or start developing yourself.
PS. There's not a chance in hell you'll get Ubuntu running on a p350. Get a gnex for that
U can't ask anywhere at the moment what u could do is off handedly mention it in another thread like u just say
"hey u guys saw that new OS ubuntu for phones lol it'd be cool if someone ported to our device wonder if any1 is thinking about it?"

Really bad meme reference in a really bad occasion . That meme is 90s Problems. Anyways, you can't really ask around for a port because it's not really released already AND there's no source for it, you can probably phrase your question something like this.. "Anyone planning on porting Ubuntu Mobile to the ____ device once it's released?"
