HI all,
I have encountered a problem that my phone cannot be charged to fully 100%. I turn off the phone and charged until full (the batter bar is not moving anymore) around 2.5 hours. Then, i unplug my phone and turn it on. I found out that only 98% of the battery at the glance...So what is the problem?
Need help seriously. Thanks
Maybe reset battery stats in recovery..

Unless your using a kernel with BLX it won't charge over that, no phone in reality charges above 96%

Mine charges to 99% most of the time then I unplug the cable, plug it back in and it goes to 100%.
Sometimes I unplug it at 99% and it then goes to 100% battery, totally stock rom none rooted.
Mine only just started to charge to 99% this morning. Have been getting 'Charged' usually. Hopefully it's not a sign of the battery slowly dying.

That does absolutely nothing. Also I didn't mean to thank you sorry.

It has nothing to do with the battery slowly dying.

So what does that mean by 99%? For some reason it was able to fully charge last night.

[Q] Wifi Tether: Subject to $15 T-Mobile Charge?
Curious about this. Currently I'm connected to my laptop for the past 15 min just fine; no alert came up that said I had to get the $15 fee that T-Mobile charges for the "privilege" of tethering on my current plan. Does that mean that an unlocked phone isn't subject to T-Mobile's tampering?
If so, is this the only value for rooting right now? I don't see any other need for root with this phone except if it fools T-Mobile.
Thanks in advance for your answers.
I know there are numerous threads about battery life, but this one isn't about the life itself really.
I can charge my phone to 100%, but when I unplug it, the battery indicator shows 97% right away. I plug it back in, rinse and repeat, and get the same issue. I even tried charging with the phone off.
Ha anyone had luck with using a full 100%?

I see that some people don't get to 100% during the actual charge process, but haven't seen my issue yet. I'll keep looking. So many of these threads...thanks.
Just trying to figure out whether it's worth going back for another phone or battery. What would you do?
Id keep it, there was an article posted in one of the threads stating why phones do this...the N1 did a similar thing where after it charged going from 100-96 percent went really quickly
i would equate it when you buy a 16 gig SD card and it shows as 15.6 gigs
Same thing here... pretty sure it's happening to most people.

Mine did this until I calibrated the battery. Charged it to 100%, then drained it all the way. Charged it back up to 100%, and now not only does the battery last longer, but the percentage seems to go down in a more linear fashion.

Same here, I've done this two nights in a row, but no change.
Thank you for the links, guys. Pretty insightful actually. I've got it charging right now at 99%. As soon as it hits 100%, I'll take it off and see if it drops instantly. I'm guessing it shouldn't as it JUST hit 100%. But we shall see..
Thanks again!
Same issue here afetr the caliberation and all
I really wouldnt worry about it guys, not like magical unicorns are eating your percentages
Well...I mean, it's not something anybody is "worried" about, but it does suck because I use my phone heavily as I'm in the IT field ... so every percentage counts. After I just unplugged, it went to 99% which my N1 did as well. I'm fine with 99%, but 97% seemed a bit low.
Full charge oddity
When the phone has been switched off and charging the phone shows the fully charged icon on screen when charging appears to be done. Battery Indicator Pro displays only a 95% charge when the phone is switched on. The same happens when the phone is on and being usb charged. When 100% charge is shown and the usb cable is removed the charge is then shown as 95%. This does not happen on my other devices running 2.2. They will show 100% or 99%. A device design or 2.3 bug?

The epic 4g has this problem. I think its something with samsung. You have to unplug it, plug it back in, let it charge to full again and rinse repeat until its really at 100%
Then reset your battery stats in cwm

As noted in the stickied FAQ and further discussed in the link provided by nxt (Beat me to it!), this is by design folks.

Q: I unplugged my phone, and my battery dropped from 100% to 95% immediately, or it won't/takes along time to charge past 99%, what gives?
This is by design. Your phone will slow down and eventually stop pulling charge at or slightly greater than ~95% regardless of what your battery indicator says. This is to extend the overall life of the battery, as constant 100% to 0% charge/discharge cycles will cause it to fail prematurely. If you're interested in really pushing it to 100%, you can use a technique that is called "bump charging" and is better detailed here: http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/12...battery-drain/

Weird battery reading
My Nexus S was at about 16% when I put it on the charger then I did a quick reboot and it said it was at 52%. I unplugged it, powered off, pulled the battery, then rebooted and it read 28%. Even that is hard to believe after less then 5 minutes of charging. Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes, that has been reported by a number of people. It has happened to me as well when rebooting while charging. Nothing is wrong with your battery though, it just must be a battery stats bug.
Good to know. Thank you for the prompt reply

Well, i got the phone today for christmas. When i powered it up and plugged it into the charger it waas 86% on the phone. I charged it to 100% then tried it for 10 minutes and i noticed that it went down to around 86%.. And i was like WTF so i powered it in again and now its still in there..
I thought that the reason for this is that its a new batter and never been fully charged so it have to be charged for several hours on 100% for it to be fully loaded.. Is this true or what can cause this problem??
Thanks alot in advance!
Miikalsen
Let the battery discharge all the way before charging it up again.
It takes a while for a new battery to settle in.
By the way, nice Christmas present!

Most of us Nexus 4 owners are aware the battery life isn't great, but OK at most. Mine seems to get stuck on 13% then suddenly drop to 1% then die, and when I turn it back on, it will be on 2%, and stay like that for a good hour of moderate/light usage. then fully die. There obviously isn't something right here. is anyone else noticed this problem or something similar? If not, please try this. I hope I ain't the only one with this strange battery!
something similar happened to me yesterday. The battery drained very quickly to 1% and then lasted for nearly 30 minutes of intense usage. I guess the issue is related to the battery calibration.

Glad I am not the only one. must be a way to fix it with an app surely!
Regarding the battery . Have you guys notice any weird behavior when the phone is plugged into USB source? Xplodwild tweeted out the other day that when the phone reaches 100% it begins discharging even when plugged in to USB. Doesn't happen when using AC source.

USB source obviously doesn't provide sufficient power to keep at 100% or it could be a fault that it doesn't lock the power on when it hits 100% so it just stops completely providing power. Very interesting though.

That's how every phone works. If it didn't stop charging at 100% the battery would overheat.

Actually phones normally lock it at 100% so it stays at 100% constantly when plugged in

Is the battery draining that fast till last only for 30min?
Hello,
I noticed some crazy things happening to my N4 during charging yesterday.
It was at about 20% and I had a few hours to charge it before going out for the night. I charged it to about 50% and then stepped out of the house.
After I came home at night, I plugged it in like I do before I go to bed. I woke up after 5-6 hours to use the bathroom and checked my phone. It was stuck at 76% charging. I knew something was wrong because it shouldn't of taken 5-6 hours to get to 76%. I opened my battery settings and noticed something very weird happening.
The indicator was saying "76% Charging" and then "76% Not Charging" and it was alternating between the 2 really fast. It was as if I was taking the plug out of the wall and putting it back in REALLY fast. I checked the outlet and it was fine, it was plugged in just fine (I've been using the same outlet fine for a week)
I restarted the phone and suddenly the battery jumped to 86%. WTF?
I kept it charging and went back to sleep. Woke up few hours later and it got stuck at 76% again! And it sat there bouncing back and forth like before.
I restarted the phone a FINAL time and then finally it fully charged to 100%.
WTF is going on?
Seems like your battery indicator might have been messing up, reboots fix this

Yeah sounds like it but really odd how it got stuck at 76%.
When it hit 86% it just stayed consistently charging but the % wasn't increasing. Looking at the battery graph from last night it seemed to be at 86% for at least a few hours.

I would leave it charging for such a period that it would be at 100% if it was at all normal.
Then reset battery stats, let it fully discharge through use, recharge, and see how it goes.

NP. I'm trying to get data on Li-Po batteries that doesn't originate from an RC plane/car/heli website, turns out it's really, really hard
Hey, this morning I was about to put my phone on charge from the wall outlet. It was at 13% and when I put it in it just jumped all the way to 100%. I unplugged and re-plugged and it said it was already charged. So I restarted my device and find my charge is at 1%, then I let it charge and came back to a 100% charge. My question is why did this happen? Is something wrong with my battery? Software glitch?
rom/kernel ?
Try charging it while powered off with another charger than stock

Stock Rom r72 Franco Kernel(Well r71 at the time). Now it works since I charged it when it hit 1%. My question is did the battery just drain? Since it went from 13% to 100% in like 1 sec then fell to 1% upon restart. I just want to know if this was a random glitch or if I have a battery or hardware problem.
It's a known bug, this has been said by several developers
