So I got a $20 GooglePlay Certificate for Xmas.. - Epic 4G General

So I got a $20 GooglePlay Certificate for Xmas but I have no idea what to use it for, being a rooted user and all. Should I just buy whatever and just have no discretion on the credit? or is there something specific I should use the credit on that can benefit me? I still use my Samsung Epic4g, but I'll be getting a Nexus 7 in about a week or so.
Any suggestions would be thankful.

I would say get Apollo+ by Andrew Neal, but unfortunately it was removed from the Play Store

If I got some free money I would spend it on support developers who usually put most of their well done apps for free or try to get the most useful apps like TitaniumBackup Pro and maybe some games like NFS MS and Sonic Ep2 etc...

Titanium Backup is one that you should definitely buy and will be useful on the Nexus 7. Another I purchased and support is ROM Manager. I picked up Nova Prime for a quarter on Google's anniversary sale.

You can use it towards your N7.

Whatever apps book or music you buy will also be available on the n7 after you sign in to your Google account so shop without discretion.

Should i get it...?

i have some questions before thinking of getting it.
as far as i can see, it is the best bet for 200$, but how does it work? since im not 18 yet, and i couldn't buy all the books and games by my self and stuff.... is there a chance to just install a video player application and play downloaded videos like on rockplayer on android? also what about games. is there any way to just download them from some site and just simply install it or something. Thanks!
There's plenty of free books and games on the app store

I actually preordered, then canceled the deal breaker was no bluetooth.

You'll be able to install from Amazon whatever they deem acceptable to be downloaded. Yes, I have read that sideloading apks will be possible but without a uSD disk you'll need to be able to load via cable from your desktop, wirelessly might be possible or email the apk.
Amongst the deal-breakers (for me) are only 8GB total space. You'll fill that fast with music/videos. Cloud storage is useless without a wifi connection. No microSD (uSD) so no expandability. 512MB of RAM will work but 1GB is almost the norm anymore.
Bottom line, Amazon will sell a bazillion of these $200 tabs but mostly to people who are only focused on price and less on function (their loss). The AF is (IMO) kind of on par as those cheap knock-off tablets many Chinese companies crank out. With the holidays coming more and MUCH better alternatives are coming than the AF. Hold off would be my advice for now.

Bluetooth is the problem for me also. I want to get a tablet, and $200 is tempting, but I would like the option of using a wireless keyboard. On the other hand, I don't want to pay twice as much for a tablet that does have bluetooth.

Anyone know of a very good bank account monitoring software?

I just came to nexus 7 from iPad 1. Had this great app called 'accounts'. Was wondering if anyone knew of a similar app for android.
What it basically does is allow you to enter you daily transactions. It then organizes them automatically with its great budget and forecast features. It also backs up automatically to dropbox
Here's a link of that app:

Thanks in advance.

I used this one a while ago, it sounds like this would meet your requirements:
My Money by N.AMRI
Without any doubt the one I use on all of my devices is EasyMoney.
Works well on both phones and tablets.
There are a number of reasons I prefer this over any of the others but one feature in particular is the 'Bill Reminder' at the foot of the main page which takes you to a date formed 'Upcoming Bills'.
This shows all future bills for the next 3 months.
You can get a 30 day trial here.
I use expense manager.

Mint is okay unless you bank with US Bank or, presumably, any bank that asks security questions periodically as well as remembers the "computer" accessing the account. Mint and US Banks can't seem to get this **** figured out, so therefore Mint is useless with those accounts.
It also categorized credit card transactions very wrong. My Apple Valley Liquor Store purchases (yeah, I like a beer once in a while) it categorized them as "technology purchases" or whatever...I freaked thinking my iTunes account was hacked since it looked like "Apple" to Mint and it truncated the rest of the business name. So, it isn't perfect by any means. Pretty much any Apple Valley anything (in my case) gets marked wrong. It might not affect everyone though.

I use Mint to keep track of all my charge card purchases. It is great for that. Never wanted to hook it to a bank account.

[Q] What to spend my $50 Samsung credit on

It should be noted first that I want to disable all the Samsung Account crap I can from my Note. That said, I do wish to spend as much of my $50 as possible. Will movies or music purchased via the Samsung Store play on a regular computer or my phone?? I don't want something that has to log into Samsung every time to make sure I am authorized to use it. I've got enough of that issue with iTunes, but at least there I can purchase DRM free.
Thoughts on where to spend the $???
I too would like to know what others suggest. I've never used the hub, so I have no idea if things like music are tied to the account or can you download it and use on any device without issues.
ive poked around, ive spend about 20 of it.. not much in there i like, far.. and i mean far less goodies then google play... if ya ask me, they should have gave 25 for the hub, 50 for play
Music is what im buying. You can download straight to an sd card and your purchases are saved to your account for later download or streaming.

Can you copy your music to your computer and play them without issues? I'm guessing they are simple .mp3 files if you can. What bitrate quality are the songs?
Thanks!

I'm sure you can. I got in on that Jayz samsung promo, and all the files were pure mp3 with no DRM.
like everyone else has noticed, the Samsung store is pretty crappy and not much to spend $50 on.

Well I did buy a couple movies I never would have bought on bluray and they are in a proprietary wrapper stored in a hidden folder. I will try some music and see if tgat is any better.

For reference the credit expires in 30 days after issuance if not used and once activated 90 days later (cheap).
So don't sit on it too long! In fact let me register mine now.

Samsung's email tells you that a credit card is required to be on file when using the gift card...I think they are hoping that you end up spending a little extra.
So I can't decide what to waste my $50 credit on.
The book library is majorly lacking.
I'd rather buy an App from the Google Play store (don't want to deal with 2 separate locations.
Music? - Are these even normal Mp3s?
Movies - I dunno I guess I could rent a few.

People here should know that it does expire even if you redeem the code to your account. I'm not happy about that. I went to buy something 3 days after mine expired and i had 0 balance.
I bought a few games and TSF launcher which wasn't up to date. Had to email the dev who game me the latest. I think a lot of the software are not up to date. So if there's a new one I have to email the devs each time

What are you doing with your 50.00 playstore card

Please post any must have paid apps and also what you will be doing with your gift card.
Saving it, spending it, giving it away?

Saving it until I need it. I usually use it to support devs for apps I use that I haven't already bought/donated to.
If you want you can buy a premium key for Titanium Backup as it'll be usefull for you in case you want to move from one device to another!
I've already bought all the premiums for the apps I use. I guess I'll sell it on ebay and make my tax back from the 6p.

I know titanium has been around forever but Is it safe to restore from one rom to the other... Will it cause issues with the system? If they are different. I always read do not restore data from titanium. I have always started fresh when romming. Even though its such a pain... I think I'll purchase some games that I probably wouldn't have purchased otherwise. And see what other apps people come up with

It's safe because you're not restoring a ROM, you're restoring individual apps.
It's always been recommended not to restore the data for those individual apps, though
I was thinking of getting nova launcher prime..

I will most likely be buying more USB C chargers.
I think I can use it to pay Google Music monthly subscription for next 5 months. If it doesn't work, then I can certainly use it for apps and stuff.
I will be using my credit to buy an extra home charger and a usb-c to usb-a converter so when needed I can connect my phone to a flash drive of some sort.

Are you 100% sure? When you go to check out from the "Google Store" (not app section) one of the drop down "Pay With" options is Google Play Balance. Unless the 50 bucks doesn't go into that same bucket of money, I am not sure how they would be able to tell what is my deposited money and their credit money.

Help me spend my $50 Google Play credit??

So I got my 6P on Friday... and an email to activate my $50 Google play credit..... I honestly don't know what to buy? I've had Androids for the last few years and have bought almost everything I need?
I don't play games.... I don't want music, I have a ton of iTunes credit I won.... So all my music and video needs are covered.
Music players and cameras are what I've been looking at. I've tried a few, but would like some input or direction? I also play in a band, so anything music related is always a win/win suggestion?
Any other suggestions?
I've heard of people selling their code on eBay for $45 or so. That might be a good way to recoup some money spent on the phone.

I didn't think of that.....But now I've already activated it.
I just bought Manual Camera and Stellio music player...
Already have PowerAmp and Shuttle+, plus several of the top camera apps. Snap, FV-5, Cameringo, ProShot, A Better Camera......
Here are some apps worth buying: Nova Launcher Prime, 1 nice icon pack, Weather Timeline, a good reddit app, Titanium Backup Pro (if rooted)...
Otherwise you can use it to apply to Google Music or something like Whatsapp subscription.
I'd pay for these apps: Nova Launcher Pro, Textra Ad-Free, Light Flow. And just use the rest to rent movies or buy music.
We only have a year to use this credit, so it'll be hard to spend $50 on just apps alone in a year.

Already have Nova Prime and Weather Timeline, both GREAT!
I keep forgetting that I'm going to root pretty soon, when I seen a ROM I want.... And I just seen a ROM I want......Titanium Pro I will do! Thanks for the input!
I've got even more credit than that which I'm trying to figure out what to do with.
So far I've gotten SMS Backup & Restore Pro, and am eyeing Authenticator Plus which is like Google Authenticator only allows easy secure backups (It's a good app, but I already own the Amazon version that I bought with free coins, and I'm tired of having the Amazon app store because the apps on it are always so outdated.)

I already have YAATA SMS app.... But I might opt in on Textra while I have some money just in case I want to switch some day and I'll already have the ad-free version. I used Textra for a good year before YAATA.
Light Flow is another good one, in case Google doesn't ever let us have control of our light.
