this Q is not meant to be question,,
common sense is enough
might as well give it to the service center, rather than try to fix it yourself and screw it up.
its very difficult to obtain a genuine display screen.
im sure u can survive a couple of days without your phone

My wife dropped her phone, the lcd screen went completely black but the phone would still respond to swipes, volume buttons etc, everything worked BUT the screen. I insisted on fixing my wife's phone myself but she wanted to be hard headed and take it elsewhere. Long story short, the guy told her he couldnt fix her phone because it wasnt the screen that was dead, it was the LOGIC board. I am thinking the guy didnt know how to repair the S5 properly so he gave that excuse. MY thinking is, if the logic board was dead, it wouldnt boot nor respond to touches ( I can hear the camera take pictures when I press the button where it was located on the screen.) So now I am doing the repair myself and I just wanted to get some clarification on the logic board not being dead due to obvious reasons stated above.

Were you able to get the device to work? I have a similar situation and didn't know if the board is actually bad or just the LCD.
Thanks
Hello.
I have a galaxy s5 with water damage, the screen doesnt work at all, its completly black no sign of at least a blinking once in a while on the screen, but the phone Works normally, when i turn it on u can hear the sound and vibration, also i tested with sim card and i can even receive calls, so everything is working as it should except the screen.
My question is, if i buy an lcd screen+digitizer to replace the current faulty one, will this work?I try to be sure if this will work cuz i dont want to spend on buying a new lcd screen and then see that this didnt worked.
I have already opened the phone to check the current's lcd status, which is kinda really bad from the water dmg, but the rest looks ok.
Any Info on this would be really helpful
Try Vysor it's a Chrome extension to handle your phone in your pc.
Since you are able to watch your phone screen on your pc that should give an idea about the damage and if it's worth fixing or not.
What happen anyway? I just recently bought S5 coz of water resistant feature.
You could try diagnostic software, or have in-built Samsung *#0*# to assest your hardware, but you need to connect and mirror your S5 to TV or by other means for you to see your S5 display.

Thx for your asnwer on this, unfortunalety this extension requires USB debugging enabled, which i dont have it enabled. Honestly i didnt knew about this extension so thank you for sharing this.
The phone just dropped into the water and stayed for 1-2 seconds before i took it out right away, but as many others got confused about this, there is a difference between water resistant and water proof, its a big mislead from samsung advertising this phone as "its able to stay in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes". thats what confused many and they damaged their phones. On my part i didnt wanted to test it at all, it was an accident :/. But seems i might be able to make it work again with a NEW lcd, i just wanted to be sure before buying the lcd.
I was swimming with my phone, taking pictures underwater during summer and it's still fine today. And there's whole bunch of videos on YouTube prooving that as well.
Try to send it to repair if you still got warranty.
Hi Xperts,
Have Samsung A8 whose screen was replaced 6 months back. However, the screen was not fit properly (not at level with the metallic case) and I had complained to Samsung Service Centre guys multiple times. Finally fed up of visits, I used the phone for last 3 months as it was. Recently, it has developed a unique issue.
If the screen ( from top right corner) is firmly pushed in the case, it gives black screen or flickering screen with Horizontal colored lines. However, if the screen is not firmly set in the case, it works fine. Service centre guys told me that the screen needs to be replaced by paying Rs 8500 again. Thats ridiculous since they are not accepting that they did a shabby job fixing the screen earlier. Moreover, the screen works fine as long as it is not pushed in the case too hard. Can u suggest what could be the probable issue? Trying to see if I can get this repaired outside SAmsung service centre in Delhi. Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,
Sameer
Hello folks,
i have a very strange thing with the display of the new S7 edge from my girlfriend. And after reading arround 4 hours in the forum, i´ve decided to open a thread and asking for help.
I will try to explain what happend. The phone ist brand new and arrived today. After unboxing we running the first start process and during this i realized that the display had a "dead zone". In this zone it is nearly impossible to type or click someting. The rest of the screen works as intened.
After the start process the Nougat update runs and the issue is still there. While scrolling it looks like a lag, but there is no lag only these wired deadzone.
Can someone give a hint what this can be or is this a hardware issue?
I have 2 vids from the issue, but im not allowed yet to posted it here.
Thanks in advance so far.
You have dead pixels, which is not uncommon.
It is a screen issue which can be repaired by replacing the screen under warranty.
You just need to take it back to where you got an show the problem, they will either repair or replace.
I think he was refering to dead zone on digitizer. It doesn't register touch on some areas.
Type *#0*# in dialer and u will be prompted with test app, U have the display option there. Tap on it and U will figure out the rest. If it doesn't draw on that area of the screen, the digitizer isn't working and take the phone to samsung if it's under warranty.
