Hey guys.
I've got an issue start is seriously starting to destroy my first Android-experience.
On several occasions when messing around with e.g. the clock app, my phone just restarts. I can at some point live with that kind of instability although I don't understand why I have to...
However, what will soon be an agonizing karate death for the little Wildfire is the fact that it, usually in the night, often restarts too. I've never tried it with the alarm turned on so I don't know if the alarm will ring while it's asking for the SIM pass. Just started working after holidays with a new phone in my possession, and luckily I accidently just found out it restarted again... But if it turns out I'm gonna sleep the day away because of this, I will definitely have had it with a piece of software - that sort of seems beta to me...
Hope you can help me out, peace

Sounds like a defective phone to be honest.
Android normally doesn't restart on its own without an app telling it to do so.
Mine just runs fine for days.
Infact my current uptime is 163 hours.
I have the same issue.
The phone have done five restarts in the last two weeks.
Three of the times this happened I was listening to music. The other two times happened when I was browsing the menus.
Dear Friends as skye said I too doubt the phone is defective .. so best thing is to get a replacement while its new...
My W. restarts several times a day. Today it was 7 times until now. W. in factory setting with geocaching app a a some more basic apps I had used on previous Samsung Galaxy Spica with no problems. Seems to be common Wildfire problem, but I can t google no working solution.
same aplies to my phone..
I never had a problem.
My previous HTC touch cruise (windows mobile) developed the same problem, after 2 and a half years.
It's definitely hardware. You should look at warranty service
same to me,
in the evening mostly
also some times when trying to listen to music or when I'm using ebuddy
Wow, quite a few ppl getting restarts on their phone. O.O
My phone works just fine, no problem though.
Mine did a lot of time, but no more than once per day. Always when I was not using it, specially during night. The battery was always full.

Same issue here. I have a suspicion on applanet market, because after installing this app my phone has started to restarting.
Okay, if your phone isn't stock already run an RUU . Then take it to a repair center.

dunno if this will apply to any of you guys but if i overclock my phone past 700 it reboots like mad. i had to drop it to around 670 i think. i also read a post somewhere on here, or over at cyanogenmod,(cant remember ) that someone was getting random reboots every time he got a 3g connection :/
I'm running cm7 n39 and my phone won't receive phone calls or text messages. If anyone tries to call me they are automatically forwarded to my voicemail. I don't have any call forwarding settings enabled and I'm getting worried. I can call and text people but I'm not receiving calls or texts. My data works perfectly so I don't really understand. I'm using Go dailer if that matters. I've already reflashed the ROM and Kernel as well as wiped the dalvik cache. What should I do?
Update: I fixed it. I had made an error when I did the GPS fix for CM7. I had accidental changed one of the cdma radio settings. I switched it back and now everything works fine again.

I don't follow CM7 much but their nightlies is part of the reason I don't enjoy their roms. What is the point in a FINAL if they continue to come out with nightlies?
Gps is still broken, wifi get's stuck "on" even when not connected causing battery drain, phone won't go to sleep. Hats off to them for being so popular but man do they have some buggy stuff in every single release.

Now that I think about it, when I first started using CM7, I had issues with not being able to connect to data after disabling 4G... idk if it was a new kernel or a new nightly that fixed it.

GPS issue definitely here. Also my phone's wifi stays stuck on "on" and completely murders the battery and lately the phone won't sleep and i'll have to reboot.... blah. I think i'll be going back to MIUI, the only reason I switched to CM7 was because of working 4G
Is it me, or is anyone else experiencing random restarts after a phone call or using an app sometimes?
probably get better response if you post it in thread
I've been getting random restarts too =[...i noticed it only happens when my wifi isn't connected and I'm using my data connection...what sucks is my data is slow as hell now too =[
It started happening when i flashed Virtuous Fusion...its a good ROM but i preferred MIUI so when i flashed back I started having problems.

Okay. And yeah same here, i downloaded Virtous too Maybe ill try wiping everything again and start the process over again and see if it fixes the problem.
they said maybe a full wipe will fix the problem. I tried it ,but I'm still getting random reboots. (i turned off data so it will stop randomly rebooting)

I know this is a pretty well known problem but was wondering if anyone has found a solution. I had this problem on CM7 and have switched to OMFGB and still have the same problem. Occasionally my radio will die and I will not have mobile data for a period of time. I am currently on OMFGB 7/16 with the glitch kernel. It happens enough to become an annoyance so has anyone found a solution or have any suggestions? Thanks.

in the OP of the CM7 thread in development, jt says this may happen and a battery pull should fix it
edit: I guess this is only if the radio completely dies, it seems like your issue is just losing 3G/data and is a known bug that I don't know a fix for
tapatalked from my stock VZ Fascinate
i could be wrong but my understanding is that any rom built off of the ec09 leak will lose data sync and not be able to send or receive until battery pull. I dont think i had the issue with MIUI.

CM7 and MIUI are not built off the EC09 leak, they are built from straight AOSP source.
AFAIK some phones (like mine) loose data completely when flashing on MTD builds like CM7 or Miui. All I had to do was an esn swap, so basically activate a different phone on my line and then re-activate my Fascinate. Problem solved in about 10 minutes.
If it's data problems you're having, this thread is your new best friend:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1051543
I had the same 3g issue and an ESN swap worked perfectly for me as well. There's plenty of explanations and such in here on what it is and how to easily do it. IINachtmahrII kind of alluded to that.
The old data issue which is solved by doing the ESN swap is not the same thing as the issues CM7 is having. That issue back when official ED01 Froyo hit was a complete 3G data loss and the ESN swap took care of it. CM7 seems to have a couple issues with data. Be very careful doing a battery pull on CM7. Myself and several others have had a soft bricked device from doing a battery pull on CM7. I am pretty sure the OP is talking about how it seems to work one minute and then stops for a few minutes and eventually comes back. I get it too. Happens on WiFi also.
I haven't noticed my 3G icon disappear but I noticed it turns white which apparently means it lost its connection to Google. Does your icon disappear completely?

I believe you are correct about the meaning of the OP. I also experienced the intermittent loss of 3g and wifi while on cm7.

I too lose 3g occasionally, I found that if you turn airplane mode on,then off 3g returns.

I was having the exact same problem, but I assumed it was the EC09 baseband and flashed back to EC01. It seems to have solved itself or atleast become less severe in my case though
Turning airplane mode on and off has seemed to I work. I may try switching radios because I'm on ec09. Has anyone had this problem on ec01 or ed01? Thanks for the replies.

Have this problem on ED01 and ED04.
I have a reoccurring issue with multiple roms. Using SS8/9 and now Shooter. I only randomly will get text messaged from any sender. I recently unrooted my phone back to factory 2.2 stock then upgraded to 2.3 and had no issues. So my problem only happens when I am running a custom rom. I should normally get alot of messages through the day as I work for a IT company that gets paged for critical issues in a hospital. Luckily I have a pager as well so I still get the messages. So far today, my pager has not stopped going off and I have yet to get a single text on my phone. I do not have google voice as I removed that a month ago on SS8 hoping to resolve the issue. Any help is appreciated.
Currently running Team Nocturnals Shooter with dodgekernel 1.6 (with and without oc)
Edit: i just flashed to stock rooted and started getting messages instantly... no clue why custom roms dont work for me
Ill look around, I thought there was an app available on the market that helped with this issue... Sprint's network is notorious for borking the delivery of sms and mms... You arent the first person to post the issue... If I find the app I'll link it for you.
Edit: I couldnt find the app... But this issue you are having is definitely a sprint network issue...

Not really...There's some network settings in the build.prop of every rom...He said the issue doen't happen on non-rooted roms.

Try a non sense rom, you probably won't have that issue anymore. If you do you probably need to update your radio after you root.

Well it is a known issue on the Sprint Network. Has been for a while, actually Srint Confirmed it several times. I really don't think switching to a Non-Sense Rom would solve the issue. Because it's still a custom Rom. I would try updating the PRL / Profile. Also the Radio as you suggested. But I don't think it's a Sense thing.

I'm just offering him a suggestion to try a non-sense rom and compare if he gets the same results or not. It's not a custom rom issue because I'm running CyanogenMod7 and I've never had that issue...

You can also try calling Sprint. Have them reset your Messaging, and Data. Just make sure your on a Sense Rom if you call, just in case they ask you to access ESPT. Also, goes without saying do not tell them your rooted, or let them remote access your phone.
Ghostly sms will be your best friend man, it's a memory issue inside of Sense for "some" users so give that app a shot, hell I run it on my inspire because I'm aware of the memory issues HTC and Sense have
