Is it me, or is anyone else experiencing random restarts after a phone call or using an app sometimes?
probably get better response if you post it in thread
I've been getting random restarts too =[...i noticed it only happens when my wifi isn't connected and I'm using my data connection...what sucks is my data is slow as hell now too =[
It started happening when i flashed Virtuous Fusion...its a good ROM but i preferred MIUI so when i flashed back I started having problems.

Okay. And yeah same here, i downloaded Virtous too Maybe ill try wiping everything again and start the process over again and see if it fixes the problem.
they said maybe a full wipe will fix the problem. I tried it ,but I'm still getting random reboots. (i turned off data so it will stop randomly rebooting)

Is anyone else having major data drops? Mine is happening like 3x a day now! Very annoying. It has nothing to do with airplane mode. All of a sudden I will see my 3G signal leave, then there's a small x near my status bars then the x will go away but the 3G signal will not come back unless I reboot. When I reboot, my battery level drops all the way to where I need to connect my charger to keep it on.
This started happening about 5 days ago. Never an issue before that. Started happening after I flashed Trigger v1.5 rom. Went back to Bionix V and it's still happening. Wiped, Wiped, reflashed, wiped, wiped reflashed...still an issue.
Any help is appreciated!
You might try flashing a different modem.
Powered by Axura with a dash of Voodoo
Or you might have a SIM getting ready to crap out on you.

DARKYY'S ROM FOR SGS VIBRANT
Darky made his ROM flashable for ALL SGS series.
Don't just flash this like ANY OTHER ROM.
*WARNING IF YOU DON'T READ THIS WHOLE THREAD YOU WILL SOFT/HARD BRICK*
FIRSTLY, download this: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.darkyrom.darkyconfig
It's called the "DARKYROM CONFIGURATOR" its in the market.
In the App, make sure that these are the settings,
The Modem and Kernel, set them both to NO MODEM, and , SKIP KERNEL
Now download the ROM, and put it in your SD Card.
Go back into Darkyrom config. App.
Now click menu, then SELECT ZIP AND FLASH
It will ask for SuperUser allow it.
It will now boot into Recovery and start Flashing it, it will take a while its a 250MB file.
After flashing is done, it will take a longer-than-usual time to reboot.
It will open.
If you see your PREVIOUS ROM WALLPAPER, SETTINGS ETC...
boot into recovery by using power button, and wipe/factory reset.
Now it should be okay..
-NOTE-
you do NOT have to disable voodoo, well, i didn't and i'm having no problems because of that.
*PROBLEMS*
It Sometimes Randomly reboots, but gives a vibrate as a warning?
It randomly vibrates sometimes... but doesn't always reboot.
Some people may experience all the SD Card Wiped or their music/gallery/etc erased
I will upload some pictures in the second post, through the phone it self.

there's no way around it guys... you're going to get soft reboots when your signal hits about -80dbm
Yeah theres no other problems besides that. I've asked Darkyy to try and help us out, he's probably sleeping right now, so i'll let you guys know.
Keep in mind this is a i9000 ROM

Wiping solves some problems ull face. Trust me.
Nice of you to start a topic.
The RESTART/Vibrate bug you are refering to is the SAME bug that Jellette/Heathen was experiencing when he was trying to port an i9000 ROM in Ragnarok. He tracked the issue to be caused by the signal. Yes, the SIGNAL strength of the network causes the reboot. It happens when this signal reaches a certain value. Then phone goes crazy and reboots. That's about it. There is still no known solutions to this.
HOWEVER, Eugene beleives he found the file and settings which are causing it. I have PMed Darkyy and he will be looking into the issue when he's back from vacation (currently hes heading out for a few days). I believe jellette/Heathen may also be working on the issue once he gets his replacement phone.
I hope this helps. And yes. Darkyy' ROM is FAMOUS. I don't need to say more about it haha. When/if it works, it will be AMAZING.
If other devs want to jump on this to try and fix it, it would be very very appreciated. This ROM is just too good to pass up
Not to mention, ALL themes from the I9000 forums WILL work with this after it is working on our Vibrants. Go take a look at the I9000 forum, there are literally TENS upon TENS of amazing themes for it.
For the email FCs, it was enough to wipe its data in TitaniumBackup. however, I had issues receiving calls till I wiped/factory reset my phone. Very satisfied so far.

how long is the longer than usual? i tried it last night and i guess it got stuck on a bootloop and kept vibrating too in the bootanimation "darky's rom" for about half and hour
I tried 9.2 extreme edition when it first came out. Super fast, I really liked the presentation, pulled out all the stops with animations and transparent elements sprinkled around. Couldn't get over the nagging bugs though, like the capacitive buttons being mapped all wack, didn't have an effective home button, both home and back functioned like the back button. Also the volume was reversed, and I didn't have sound in certain apps. Also had to flash a US modem, you should mention that in your post, I know it say's choose no modem, but you should mention later to flash one that works.
Used it for a few days like that actually, because it was still super slick and useable...even without the home button lol. But I didn't see it randomly reboot even once.

Hey everyone,
I just put the cyanogenmod 7.0.2.1 on my HTC EVO 4G about a month ago. At first it was working fine, now it will just randomly restart not while I'm ever using it, but when it is sitting idle it will just restart at odd times. Has anyone else had this issue?
Everything else with the ROM is working awesome. Please Help.
No issues here, why don't you come up to date and flash the stable 7.0.3.1. Are you running any custom kernels by chance?
Here's the link to 7.0.3.1 just flash over your current rom and wipe dalvik-cache.

Oh thanks, been really busy with work, and hadn't had time to check for any updates. I appreciate the help very much. DL'ing the new ROM now.
Upgrade to the newer version. Maybe it'll help? Definitely clear cache & dalvik when you update.

That's non sense, bricking phones say whaaaaat. I've been running cyanogen roms since the G1 and I've never heard of cm bricking phone's. Don't let this person talk you out of cm lol.
If cm bricks your phone you're (1) an idiot, or (2) shouldn't be rooting your phone in the first place.

I have ran many different roms and CM7 was the ONLY one that caused my phone to reboot many times a day. A quick google search can show you threads about owners who had phones that bricked after running CM7. I never said it was gospel, I just dont need my phone rebooting multiple times during the day and it was way more often when I had wimax connected. CM is a great rom but its not the second coming of Android and not worth my phone rebooting during the day.
And I am running Smooth N Sexy V1.2 A sense ROM that looks like gingerbread.
Reboots
I've been through several ROMs now and the reboot problem appears to be not a ROM issue!
Here is the story. I had started with Baked Snack, very good, but I wanted more battery and to try CM and get away from Sprint messaging update nag.
CM worked great, I updated to 7, until the reboots started to happen during heavy use of Angry birds.
So I restored to early CM 6.x, and reboots continued off and on every few days, getting progressively worse.
So I tried Warm 2.2, same issues.
I went back to CM7 and still trouble.
I went to Fresh and It was fine for a week, and then on Friday, (I noticed that Friday was significant), reboots again.
So after a month of this the reboots are so bad that I can't use the phone. I called Sprint, de-provisioned the EVO, went back to my Palm, and then unrooted and went back to Stock ROM, but with no Cell access.
The phone is stable now. As long as it's off the Sprint Cellular network!!!
All of the reboots were related to cellular activity. Messages coming in, ads being updated, calls coming in, tower switching, roaming, or worse of all, no tower signals at all.
I will post back here if the phone remains stable without cellular. But all of the research I have done on the issue has pointed to cellular access. I am on wifi and all the apps and functions are working without issues so far. I am starting a dialog with HTC to see if there is a hardware problem.
The reboots also caused heat in the general area of the SD card...don't know what else is there but I do know the cellular antennas are on that side of the phone. Leaving the battery out all night, after an off state recharge would help stabilize the phone for a while, including cache wipes and factory resets.
But once the phone had been on for a while, or Friday morning would come, the reboots would continue.
I have been a computer nut for 30+years and I solve issues for a living. I strongly suspect the radio hardware or firmware as the culprit in this reboot issue. Every other account of this has had similar connections to the radio use.
Agreed 100% , I've been rooting since the day it first became available and never bricked my phone or got stuck in a boot loop by just flashing a "rom". If I get reboots its because I either flashed a kernel or a very unstable rom. It makes me laugh that you think "CM7" is causing the reboots. You say its CM7, I say it's idiots who probably don't follow directions.

Any ROM thread in the dev section has reboot posts some have resolutions, some go to another rom and some seem to be hardware issues. Once more sir, I spoke from my own personal experience. Plain and simple CM7 was causing my EVO to reboot, and especially when it was on wimax or multitasking. Even from a clean install without restoring anything except for logging into google on the device. I spent 4 days troubleshooting the issue including trying different versions and nightlies. Oh yea..and before you ask the temps were normal on the device no higher than any other time.
But yet again another know it all here on XDA. Dam i must be dumb as **** to been flashing my phone since the froyo root method was released and never had another ROM give me that type of issue. The ROM is not worth me going back to the stock RUU and swapping hardware to since that seemed to be the the last variable after my troubleshooting. Not a big ****ing deal...my phone didnt agree with CM7 like I have seen a small number of other users out there. You dont see me around ROM threads always *****ing and moaning about issues when resolutions or known issues are posted on the first page or doing any other nonsense that I will guess others on here are doing that you may be referring to.
Obvious you are one of those XDA "experienced pros" that are quick think someone has no idea what they are doing with their phone. Post count doesnt mean everything bro.

I know this is a pretty well known problem but was wondering if anyone has found a solution. I had this problem on CM7 and have switched to OMFGB and still have the same problem. Occasionally my radio will die and I will not have mobile data for a period of time. I am currently on OMFGB 7/16 with the glitch kernel. It happens enough to become an annoyance so has anyone found a solution or have any suggestions? Thanks.

in the OP of the CM7 thread in development, jt says this may happen and a battery pull should fix it
edit: I guess this is only if the radio completely dies, it seems like your issue is just losing 3G/data and is a known bug that I don't know a fix for

i could be wrong but my understanding is that any rom built off of the ec09 leak will lose data sync and not be able to send or receive until battery pull. I dont think i had the issue with MIUI.

CM7 and MIUI are not built off the EC09 leak, they are built from straight AOSP source.
AFAIK some phones (like mine) loose data completely when flashing on MTD builds like CM7 or Miui. All I had to do was an esn swap, so basically activate a different phone on my line and then re-activate my Fascinate. Problem solved in about 10 minutes.
If it's data problems you're having, this thread is your new best friend:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1051543
I had the same 3g issue and an ESN swap worked perfectly for me as well. There's plenty of explanations and such in here on what it is and how to easily do it. IINachtmahrII kind of alluded to that.
The old data issue which is solved by doing the ESN swap is not the same thing as the issues CM7 is having. That issue back when official ED01 Froyo hit was a complete 3G data loss and the ESN swap took care of it. CM7 seems to have a couple issues with data. Be very careful doing a battery pull on CM7. Myself and several others have had a soft bricked device from doing a battery pull on CM7. I am pretty sure the OP is talking about how it seems to work one minute and then stops for a few minutes and eventually comes back. I get it too. Happens on WiFi also.
I haven't noticed my 3G icon disappear but I noticed it turns white which apparently means it lost its connection to Google. Does your icon disappear completely?
