Hi everyone,
My phone isn't showing up as USB device when connected to computer. I have tried installing latest CM 10 quarx's ROM but no success (I transferred new ROM through wifi - Dropspot app). Could this be a hardware problem or something else?
I have already tried using a different cable and restarted my phone(many times) and computer (once).
Any help will be appreciated!
Please helps. I have even tried with CM10 05.12.12 build(I am sure usb mount was working with this build) but no change.

I too faced a similar problem,. try connecting to different computer to check., IF its working in other computers.,
Then remove all mobile related drivers from Windows Device manager(Show hidden devices).,
The problem would be solved
[APP] USB Mass Storage for Ice Cream Sandwich & Jelly Bean
This app works for me when i was having this problem. Also try re-installing drivers. :fingers-crossed:
Thanks everyone for replying but I have already tried what you guys have suggested. Still looking for a solution..

This is a known issue with SwiftDroid 2.0 M4
Well check you have all the drivers installed correctly first reboot, unplug the cable and plug again.
I had the same issue but I fixed it by installing all drivers and when it says new hardware just pick auto install
install all necessary drivers and it will work with M4 -> i tried today about 10times and it works
get drivers here: ht*p://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035853&highlight=drivers
Any another way to use same without installing drivers?

The download link in that forum is stale. Is there a alternate place to download the drivers. Thanks for the help.

Actually the drivers were working fine initially. That how I was able to upgrade my phone from stock ROM to swiftdroid. If I go back to Eclair versions (data2sys versions), it works again. But If I go to gingerbread version ( both Murik and yours data2sys version), it stops working.
Seems like no one else is seeing this problem. So it must be something stupid that I am doing.

Then is the rom that is not compatible with your sdcard i guess, which sdcard are you using?. Im not sure if running a script will solve the problem i saw a script somewhere but i dont remeber where, if someone here master in linux knows it, please post it!

Thanks everyone. Actually I have decided to go back to 2.1 due to battery issues. In 2.1, my SD card works fine anyway. SO its no longer an issue for me.
Maybe I will come back to 2.3.x soon. You all are doing amazing job. Thanks.
I'm on windows vista and fastboot, adb and USB mass storage seem to be working fine.
I had the exact same problem until recently .
The isssue is driver related - drivers for 2.1 and 2.3 aren't all the same .
Fixed it by uninstaling all LG drivers using device menager ( right click on my computer ) , and after that instaling this driver pack mediafire.com/?59v94x0694pdxj7 ( it contains all drivers needed ) . All i did after is pluged in my phone and it autoinstaled a few more drivers and after MASS storage worked just fine .
P.S same goes if any1 has device not found using ADB bridge ...
OS win7 32bit
I hope this helps if you have any questions feel free to ask

Hi experts,
Thanx to the experts on this forum, I managed to flash HyperDroid 2.3.4 NAND ROM on my HD2. Its working fine.
But, when I connect my HD2 to my Vista laptop via USB, my laptop cannot find the required drivers to connect . I am not interested in syncing ... just able to transfer files between PC and sdcard on HD2.
I tried to search this forum for an answer ... but, could'nt fine one.
Also, any recommendations for a good anti-virus for my HD2 will be appreciated.
Thanx.
cheers,

You have to manually install them over the device manager.

how long have you been using android? because the simple answer is in notification area if you already haven't tried, drag notification bar down and turn usb storage on
i might be wrong but i dont think i needed driver update and what not when i flashed HyperDroid. uh.. have you tried all the ports on your laptop? i found that sometimes this seems to fix problems like this. im taking by what you said this is your 1st Android ROM you tried? if not then was it working before and if so then you could always try another ROM as well to see if it would fix the problem.
Thanx j4n87 ... I downloaded the Android USB driver from the HTC developer site, and installed it on my Vista laptop via device manager. It works. I can transfer files between my Android HD2 and Vista laptop.
cheers,

When you say that it's not connecting, could you specify in which mode? E.g. USB Flasher in MAGLDR, USB Mass Storage in Android, USB Mass Storage in MAGLDR, bootloader etc.
it will not connect when im at my home screen. i have turned off usb debugging on the phone. im not sure wat mode its in when im just at the home screen sorry.
thanks josh
extract it in your dektop.
Connect your Android-powered device to your computer's USB port.
Right-click on Computer from your desktop or Windows Explorer, and select Manage.
Select Devices in the left pane.
Locate and expand Other device in the right pane.
Right-click the device name (such as HTC HD2) and select Update Driver Software. This will launch the Hardware Update Wizard.
Select Browse my computer for driver software and click Next.
Click Browse and locate the USB driver folder. (Google USB Driver, we have already extracted it )
Click Next to install the driver.

Well still check if it connects in USB Flasher mode in MAGLDR. If it does, then you should be all set to flash a newer version of Android. Just follow this guide. Before doing so, download the ROM directly on to your phone's SD from the browser and move the ROM to the root of the SD card. Also make sure to make a full backup of your ROM in CWM and of your data in Titanium Backup. On the guide you should probably skip the step which involves partitioning the SD card with an SD-EXT as this will delete the contents of your SD card.

...What? This makes no sense.
I also have this problem: after connecting android 4.1.2 to windows 7 x64 pc - nothing happends. I tried installing 4 different roms (all released in december 2012), but if I remember correctly my previous android (4.0.4) and the one before (2.something) had the same problem. I also tried 4 defrent pc.
I installed Google USB Drivers in Android SDK Manager but couldn't add them to unknown devise (it said that there are no drivers in the 'usb_drivers' folder. Also tried drivers mentioned in this thread but with the same result.
Tried turning off and on USB Debuging and plenty other options as suggested in posts I found. I also don't have any option to chose while connecting android via USB cable (only turning USB storage on and off - while on pc does see it, but only as an SD card).
Thank you for your answer,
Paul

I think you need gt540 drivers.. download a software PDAnet , it will automatically find the usb driver..
You need to delete 2 files from some windows folder to make it work.

I know it's a really common and simple problem but I google it several time and I can't figure out how to solve this.
When I plug the device onto the PC it begin to charge, but I can't browse the folder inside the N4 cause it's not seen by the PC itself.
the N4 has stock rom android 4.3 with stock kernel, unlocked bootloader and root permission.
I tried to:
-use different cables
-use different usb ports (2.0-3-0)
-enable USB debugging
-install MTP driver from microsoft site
-install ADB driver from google nexus toolkit
-put it in PTP mode
-install other driver suggested by another toolkit
when I was on 4.2.2 all worked fine, but since I installed CM 10.1 and android 4.3 I can't see the folder such as music or download.
Someone can help me? this thing is really annoying

I'm having the same issue here and can't get my device to be recognized by various computers. This was after flashing CM 10.2 (Android 4.3) and the problem still persists in CM 11.0 (Android 4.4).
Prior to that the device connected normally as it showed up on device manager and my PC making the USB connect sound.
Is this potentially hardware problem as well?
Thanks in advance.

It won't fix it. I have the same problem since I installed 4.4 (tried many different roms). Usb Debugging + p2p is the only working solution for me.
I tested on Xp/7/8 even with different drivers. But well, I would just use Airdroid.
I have the same problem!

Hi badboy47, have tried different USB wires and even different computers. With regards to the N4 drivers, I can't even see the device in device manager when plugged into my PC. Or did you mean uninstalling the universal ADB drivers?
Thanks!
