Hi! I have a problem with my green lens defy. Today i installed quarx's cm10 nightly 30.12 (from 4.09 wich worked just fine) and it won't boot. I properly installed the .zip after wiping data/ cache/ dalvik cache, then cleared the cache again and reboot. When i start my phone the motorola logo appears, the led turns blue and then, when it was supposed to turn green, the led turns red and the screen black. After a few seconds, the phone automatically reboots.
The initial software was android 2.1, i flashed a fixed version of 2.2 nordic, then cm7, then cm 10 (04.09 nightly).
What should i do to make the latest releases work on my phone?

Flash full froyo sbf, when root it, install sndunit 2.3, copy all files in sdcard - 1.defy full wipe ext4 script, 2.latest quarx 12.31 nightly, 3.gapps jb minimal. Install full wipe ext4 - it also wipes system - to be sure that your partitions is clean. Flash 12/31 build. Flash minimal gapps jb. Reboot. Optional: if you want to see proper booting procedure, take it to the dark room. You shoul see that: 1.m logo, 2.blue bootmenu led, 3. red led with BLACK screen, 4. screen will be blank, 5. cm logo will appear. Good luck. PS: Red led means that build is booting via 2ndboot.

Thank you, I have the same problem, except that my phone boot but then often crashes and reboots, making it unusable.
I'll now try this procedure as well and let you know.

This automatically reboot the first time is normal. The led turns red instead of green because of custom kernel, so it's also normal behavior. Just give it some time to boot at first, I guess. Patience is the key word here

I was unfamiliar with the led turning red, on previous versions (cm7, cm10 04.09) it was turning green. Patience was not the problem here, do you think i would have opened a thread after one unexpected reboot? )

Thanks a lot, man! That really worked. After a few reflashes and errors appearing on every step of the way (it even failed once in RSD Lite at about 50% when flashing froyo), i managed to do a clean series of flashing, wiping etc and now cm10 31.12 is working just fine.

I extracted a zip which contained Gen 1 to Gen 2 update and CM7.1. I turned it on with menu and v+ held. Green text came on and after it went to the boot screen of a blue android with no animation and it has been like this for over 10 minutes. Can you please help me
I have also tried turning it on by menu and v-. I done wipe data/ factory reset but no luck.
Is this phone Gen1 from the stock ?. Well ... take out / in battery press power and
than hold just Vol- key. If this is not working take out your SD card and place it in
a PC reader to install a Gen2 to Gen1 TPT to get to the start point again.
it does take a while for the first boot, but you should at least see the animation in less than 10 minutes. try again & make sure you leave it for long enough.
if you can wipe data/factory reset then you can get into clockworkmod & you've successfully converted it to gen2, so you can flash another rom, try flashing the latest nightly version of cm7 from here: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=blade
and google apps from here: http://goo-inside.me/gapps
Hi,
I am using cynogenmod 7.1.0 RC 1.5 -jordan
I am stuck in Google logo why playing with recovery.
I read that I need to flash with sbf in boot to get back to normal
I have a problem since I am in 2.3.5 how can flash
with JRDNEM_U3_3.4.3-36-1.7.sbf
This isn't the above sbf is 2.3.4 ?? or I am missing something ?

You are stuck in bootloop since you didn't do a clean wipe before flashing the SBF.
Press and hold Vol- and Power button. When you get to the android with yellow exclamation mark, press Vol- and Vol+ simultaneously and then wipe data/cache.
Done!
If I was getting a dime every time I have given this solution, I'd be driving a Ferrari by now

You can't. 2.3.5 is BL6 (I believe) and you want to go back to a BL4 sbf - no way.
did all you have said .
cleared cache and clear data still not booting beyond google logo
what to do now ?
"I have pressed stock recovery when I end up like this"
one more thing blue light appears and than all the below touch button flash once..
Since I can't go back and flash above sbf.
with what can I flash ??
Questions go in the Q&A section

2.3.5 is Gingerbread kernel based and CM 7.1 - Froyo-based (as far as I can remember). Since you see the blue light, this means you have access to the boot menu and recovery mode, so just flash a GB kerne-based ROM and your phone will be fine. You can flash MS2Ginger by Walter79, for example, or you can flash Quarx's CM9 ICS builds (follow my tutorial in Defy General section)
Struck at the google logo. Nothing works after that. Tried with rsd but battery went down and unable to load Sbf.
Please help out

I too have this problem few weeks ago when I try about 6 ROMs.
I remember I forgot to wipe data and dalvik at the time of installing WIUI ROM and I have different recovery play with.
So just do one ... 1. In the recovery section go to the custom recovery and try wipe cache, and dalvik and them reboot.
2. If above step doesnt work them at the time when mobile starts .. then you see blue light glowing for some seconds ,,, when you see it press " volume down button ". you see again a stock recovery menu. In that do wipe cache and dalvik and then reboot.
In the 2nd method at the time of recovery if you see cant mount cache before wiping then may be you have to do RSD Lite procedure.
RSD lite and SBF :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1093352
it a simple procedure. Just follow steps and you come with your official foryo 2.2.2
After that you can again install custom ROM.
Because it happens to me also. My phone shows me that there is no space in my mobile i.e phone memory is full.
So so RSD lite procedure and again back to froyo and then again install 4.1.1. jelly bean and now everything work good.

While it said, the installation automatically sets boot to 2ndinit, i had to do that manually. After switching on the phone, the led first goes to blue before red. Press volume down then, enter boot and select default boot to 2ndinit, and reboot. It should work this way but on my green lens defy it goes to the motorola logo for some time and after that comes the reboot. At least not blank screen.:good: But having it plugged to a computer, it says MB526, so something does work, but then something goes wrong...

I am waiting for the red led, but after some ten minutes i am getting bored... a progress indicator would be great, because now i think, it just hanged.
Mine have exactly problem like this too.
Please help.
I have Defy MB525 Green Lens . I'm not sure which bootloader do I have. But my base SBF is CEE Froyo 2.2. I was performing upgrade from CM7 WhiteRabbit 1.7 to CM10 2nd-boot 21 Oct.
What should I do?
Thank you

Hey, I managed to boot up the 2nd boot built successfully.
1. Wipe Data
2. Flash Froyo signed kernel from http://defy.wdscript.fr/kernel/
3. Flash CM10-20121018-NIGHTLY-mb526.zip
4. Flash update_for_18.10.zip
5. Flash Google Apps
6. Wipe Data again for sure
7. Reboot
Done!

Hi guy,
does any one know how to back to original defy wtih sbf files? because my defy stop at Android logo. In addition, I think my problem at MIUI defy V5 because after I installed V5. I dont like it, so I use RLDs to recover my defy with SBF.
Environment and duplicate steps
MB525 (green camera)
1 - Reboot the phone when you see the blue LED volume press the button below to enter the bootmenu.
2 - Now we enter the Custom recovery
Custom recovery:
A - Wipe data
B - Wipe cache
C - install the rom and Reboot (MIUI V5 Defy/Defy+ 17.5.2013 Quarx Based on 11.5.2013 /Miui Defy/Defy V5 Optimization)
3 - Use one or two hour, then I dont like MIUI v5, so I go to wipe date and cache again under recovery mode, then defy stop at Moto's logo.
4 - I used JRDNEM_U3_3.4.3-36-1.7_CHINESE_SIGN...to reflash by RSD lite.
5 - The Defy stop at Android logo. ( I dont have any idea now. because usually reflash SBF is work for me.)
Can you take any screenshot? I cant imagine what android logo are you thinking .....

Thank you Yzeroy,
Android logo is second picture when you power on defy. (ex: first picture is Moto logo. second logo is Android logo)
Ok, as you said you came from MIUI v5 ( whitch is CM10) it uses EXT4 as primary partition format for data and cache ... solution si simple and easy ....
1. Turn off you mobile ....
2. Boot up Defy with POWER button and VOLUME down button pressed together
3. DO factory reset and reboot
Now it should boot
haha, I fixed this problem now, and I know the root cause. anyway, thank you very much
the root cause:
should be need to wipe date and cache again.

Hello,
no matter what I flash (even stock), after I enter my SIM-Pin, the screen just turns black, but I see the power-menu when I hold the button and the statusbar with blinking wallpaper when pressing back-button.
Any help?

Maybe need more information.
Are you on stock or rooted on costum rom? If so what rom, kernel etc
Thanks, but as stated before:
It doesn't matter, went back to full stock, but same problem...
I wanted to flash new rom in the morning and it kept saying system-partition is busy.

Idk, I had the same problem where I would clean flash everything and install a new fully stock OOS ROM and it used to take me to the security thing and I input my PIN and it just used to go black and reboot the system, and sometimes not boot at all.
I then either used this <https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3761904&d=1464187934> or I changed the file system to Ext4.
I'd rather you try the zip out first. It'll work. I'm 98% sure I used it. Although to save my butt I take zero responsibility of your actions lol.
same as mine
mine is also becoming black screen today, yesterday i was on reading mode and i saw some marks on the corner red, then today totally black. try to flash or reboot it 50 times but still the same.
i flash using msm download woke up abut the screen is blinking then stopped again
Connect to PC with fastboot
fastboot format system
fastboot format cache
Reboot into recovery and flash a new ROM.
???
Profit!
