[Q] HTC HD2 nand android problems - HD2 General

Hello!!
I have a dft nand rom running on my htc but now i wanted to get my htc back to stock, with the Windows mobile 6.5.. I know how to do it, the problem is,, in order to install the dft nand android i had to install the radio, MAGLDR, and the HSPL, and now i need to sync my device to my computer to get it back to stock, I tried the htc sync but it didn't work and by turning on my htc pressing the down volume and the power button it should go to the HSPL but it won't, it has disappeared from my device...
And to install the HSPL again i need to sync my htc to my computer, but i can't..
I would appreciate any kind of help.
Thanks

No syncing is required as far as I know. Boot into the bootloader (vol down+power) then flash the RUU (make sure you hold down both buttons until the bootloader appears). Since you say you can't do that (although you may have just been letting go of the buttons too early) just flash a newer Android ROM. The DFT one is extremely old and was really more of a proof of concept ROM than one which people regularly use.

Can you post a link of a more recent rom?
thanks

I am not using a DFT rom.. i was turning on my htc and i saw that i'm using a Desire_DL from DL Super Init

vol down+power is to go to the HSPL and that i can't do because my HSPL, i don't know why but, it's not there anymore.
Then you have the flash bootloader just by holding the power button..
And i have to install the stock rom with the active sync so i can erase all the MAGLDR and stuff and have my htc as i bought it..
I am having to much trouble with this android thing on my HD2

That doesn't change the fact that it's an old ROM, flash a newer one.

Lol you need to read the guide in my sig which talks about the terms used for the HD2, volume down + power is to enter the bootloader, you can't 'enter HSPL', it's just something you have to flash.

First of all, i'm not being lazy, you said to install a recent rom, i'm sorry i don't know which are the new ones and the old ones...
Second,.. when you press volume down + power you will get to the HSPL which is an image splited in 4 parts, red, green, blue and white..
That screen its what you get by installing the HSPL and that is the thing missing in my htc, that it use to have but somehow it disappeared and i can't install it again because i can't sync my phone with the computer
The bootloader, you just hold the power button to enter it..
its the MAGLDR
At least in my phone when i hold just the power button it says there "Boot menu", among other things, like boot ad sd, boot ad nand, usb flasher..
So many "boot" words, it must be the bootloader i guess..
The volume down + power is to automatically sync your phone with the computer

I refuse to help you any more. You ARE being lazy, each ROM has a date next to it. You don't know what you're talking about yet you refuse to listen to me (trust me, I know a lot more than you on this subject) and you're not even making any sort of effort. Good luck sorting things out, but I just cba with you any more.

As Nigel said, each ROM has a date which indicates the last time it was updated.
That is the bootloader screen, either SPL or HSPL. And it can't be "missing". Because if you don't have that, your device wouldn't even boot. You just didn't-know-how-to/couldn't get to it, but it's there.
Again, that screen can't disappear. You may be having issues with your volume rockers. As a matter of fact, your phone is bricked if you don't have that, as I stated earlier.
MAGLDR is indeed a bootloader, but it's not the device's main bootloader.
Wow, just wow. Not because there are many "boot"s, it's a bootloader. The main bootloader of the device is the H/SPL (volume down + end)
i.e. the main bootloader.
Click here for more information about HSPL and MAGLDR.

My volume rockers are working good.. First i thought they were not working well but i checked several times and they seem good.
When i press volume down + power it just goes to the MAGLDR and i know that it shouldn't go.. So i guess my HSPL disappeared somehow..
And i know that in order to install it again, the device must be sync with the computer, but i downloaded the htc sync and it doesn't recognize my phone.
Or as you said "that screen can't disappear" is there any other way to enter it?

... but ... seriously? After all what I had said, you still insist that you don't have HSPL and you need to install it?
Dude, without H/SPL, MAGLDR WILL NOT BOOT.
If you want to go to the bootloader, you must press and HOLD the volume down and boot WHILE STILL holding the volume down.

If you mean the bootloader then call it the bootloader, stop calling it 'the HSPL'. Try this solution from walts
walts said:
Hold Volume Down. Press and hold Reset until you see the BootLoader screen. Reset is the hidden button under the battery cover, lower left side below the SD card slot. You need a plastic or wooden stylus (toothpick will work). DON'T use a pencil, the graphite can get into the button and short it.
I just did it to be sure. It works.

I don't know if it is there or not.. i press volume down and power button and it just doesn't go to that colorful screen.. I've did it before, to get my htc back to stock with the windows mobile rom.
but now it doens't work,. it's like i am not pressing the volume down... if i hold volume down and hold power button it goes to the MAGLDR (Where we have a bunch of options) and if i hold volume down and just press power button (Without holding) it just loads the rom... it's like i am not pressing the volume down, but it is working, i can up and down the volume and i can go up and down through the option in the MAGLDR menu..
So, i don't know
But thanks

Hello all,
I was trying to get android booting from NAND instead of the SD card, I got a rom with 576ram (recommended) and installed MAGLDR 1.11. Now i cant seem to do anything with the phone, its not bricked as par say, it will show the loading screen and then not move and i can access the bootloader with voldwn+powerbutton but nothing else is happening, I cant load new roms nothing. Im pretty lost here and really need some help of how i can get my phone back onto a winmo6.5 rom so i can remember not to try it again
I posted this in this thread as it does relate to an android situation.

Find Task29.exe with no radio. It's on this site somewhere. You will see some with radios attached to them, so don't use those. Just the plain old no radio version. It will wipe your phones internal memory and you will basically be starting from scratch. Nothing will be on your phone after a Task29. Then go into bootloader. How to enter boot loader after Task29- Once Task29 hits 96% (looks just like you are flashing a rom), hold volume down and power from 96% until it gets to 100% and the tri color bootloader screen pops up. It should say "USB" at the bottom after bootloader comes up if you are plugged into your computer. Then Flash MAGLDR 1.11 again. Then flash your NAND build.
You aren't bricked if you phone powers on.
What operating system is on your PC?
Well it does boot and if you have hspl you did a good job. So if you have magdlr you now need to install Android. Read a guide plzzz!
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
OS on PC is....#sigh# windows vista ultimate
For task 29 do I have to have the phone connected via usb, because its not recognising it when its even in bootloader
task29.exe didnt work
Don't do task 29,you will just complicate your life even more than now. I don't think you know what you are doing.
You may brick your phone in the end do you have HSPL?

1st try entering the BOOTLOADER, by pressing the volume down power button simultaneously..!!!
Instead of TASK 29, try FLASHAHOLIC which will perform your TASK 29 & help you flash a WinMO 6.5 ROM as well..!!!
PS: - You can even flash custom ROM's, stock ROM's not compulsory..!!!

Well then re-install Active SYNC or try on a diff PC with Latest Active SYNC..!!!
If you can access your boot-loader your device ain't bricked..!!!
Just boot your phone with VolDown and enter USB mode, reflash MAGLDR 1.11, once this has completed reboot your phone and hold down the power button, you will then see the MAGLDR menu.
Then just follow instructions on how to install an nand rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893948
it might just be the magldr or NAND ROM not flashed properly. If you can get to Tri-Color bootloader you are fine.
Found out the problem, thanks for all of your help guys, it was the fact i didnt have hspl2 installed....newb points to me
I have exactly the same problem only difference with my problem is when hold vol down and power buttons all I get is the tri coloured screen and nothing else no bootloader menu appears at all.
What can I do? Is my phn dead???

That's exactly what is supposed to happen if you hold the vol down button while switching on. To get to the magldr menu you need to hold the power button in until it boots to the menu (no vol down button )
You guys are awesome!
I've been avoiding dealing with this phone for a while. This post came up first on google search. Held power and volume (mag 1.11 was on it) and upgraded it to 1.13 and now I'm golden! Thanks guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Flash Problems

First off I'm a noob so sorry if this has been posted before but I could not find it. I flashed MAGLDR 1.2 few weeks ago and then flashed M-deejay's Gingerbread NAND and everthing worked great. Then MAGLDR 1.3 came out so I thought I would upgrade it at this point, now nothing will flash on my phone. When I try to reflash any rom/magldr (anything) it can not establish a connection to my phone. I have a US Tmobile HD2, I can use Win 6.5 and SD Android but can not flash anything to my ROM at all. I hope that any of this makes sense. Thanks
Did you put the phone into bootloader mode?
(Power off, hold down the volume down button and briefly press the power button - keep holding volume down)
And run the flasher as administrator

Yes, but even when you flash MAGLDR you have to be in win with activesync, I did that too.

I do that too, When I try to flash something it goes all the way to the upgrade button then I press next and it shows the update bar @ 0% and stays there for several mins then goes to a recovery screen. This happens with any flash even something simple like a boot screen flash.

Eerhm, when starting the phone in Bootloader modus, there's no need for activesync anymore.
Start the phone in bootloader mode, and make sure activesync is NOT active on your pc.
Do you still have 2.08.hspl and the required 2.08.50 (or higher) radio? As suggested boot into bootloader and connect to pc. Does "usb" show up on screen?

Potentially Unrecoverably HD2 Stuck In MAGLDR

Hi All,
For the past few months I've been running a DFT NAND build of Android. Yesterday, the phone was running extremely slowly with some odd behavior in the Android menus. When I restarted the phone, loading got as far as the DFT splash screen but then nothing else would happen.
I have since used MAGLDR (1.11) to attempt to boot a fresh Android image from SD card but this hasn't worked. Have managed to use the USB Loader to attempt to flash another NAND build (both Android and WP7) but even though the download process completed, this still didn't work and am stuck in MAGLDR now.
Have read through the forums here and have tried most (if not all) of the suggestions, however nothing seems to be working.
Can anyone offer anymore advice?
Thanks,
Kev
As MAGLDR gets removed if you flash a stock winmo rom I suggest you to try that!
Before you install the winmo rom you can also use Task29 to completely wipe the nand.
good luck
Thanks,
I shall give that a try this evening.
Kev
Unfortunately none of the suggestions have worked. I'm unable to flash a stock WM6.5 ROM as the RUU doesn't detect the phone.
The device does show up in Windows as a Microsoft USB Sync device, however.
Task 29 does not work either due to the same problem.
I've attempted to flash a new Android ROM release but when the phone reboots, it gets stuck on the green HTC logo screen and won't proceed any further.
I don't seem to be able to get MAGLDR 1.13 on the phone either, as DAF.exe complains about some "Config load failed" error.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Kev
*sigh*
you need to read up on "how to flash stock rom from sd card". no need for RUU i believe; sd card method involves copying a file extracted from the stock RUU and placing it in the root of your sd card and letting bootloader detect and flash the file. search for a tutorial or see the stickies.
once you've done that, make a special note about the part that says you need to boot into bootloader (hold down volume down + turn on phone + keep holding volume down until a 4-color screen appears). i suspect you are not doing this step, this is why windows, mtty, etc are unable to detect the device.
if you have already done the above, ignore my post
*sigh* too.
I've already tried flashing from the SD card but I have the same problem. I get to a green HTC loading screen and nothing else happens. I just get stuck in a reboot to MAGLDR and try again loop.
I've read through plenty of posts on flashing custom ROM's and troubleshooting but nothing has helped.
I don't get a 4 colour screen when holding down VOL-DOWN and the power button, the phone just goes into MAGLDR.
Kev
Just to add to that, Windows DOES detect the device but the RUU doesn't. Only the DAF applications find and can talk to the device.
follow me
1. is the battery have enough jiuce? what HSPL you use? hope its HSPL3 2.08HSPL
2. bootloader . . . .
Thanks for your post.
Plenty of juice in the battery.
I believe it is HSPL 2.08 (well, whichever allowed me to get Android on the thing in the first place)
Bootloader what?
Kev
getting into boot loader (4-color screen) is the key to the whole flash with sd card method.
keep trying. read on how to enter bootloader.
i can remember a few ways.
DEVICE IS ON
1. if phone is already on, hold down volume down (keep it pressed HARD)...don't let go of it!
2. push the little reset button under the battery cover. don't let go of the volume down button!
3. don't let go of the volume down button until the 4-color screen appears.
DEVICE IS OFF
1. remove the battery. reinsert it after a few seconds.
2. hold down volume down (keep it pressed HARD)...don't let go of it!
3. tap the end call button and don't let go of the volume down button until the 4-color screen appears.
remember, entering bootloader is the key.
EDIT: it is better to ensure you have sufficient battery. however, flashing via bootloader SKIPS the battery level checks.

you are not even familiar with bootloader, ??? makes me wonder
I'm very familiar with a bootloader, your "bootloader..." comment confused me.
Task 29 was unsuccessful. I've read in a number of posts that you can use Task 29 and start from scratch back at the original bootloader (rather than MAGLDR) but this obviously isn't the case.
Holding down the VOL-DOWN key does nothing other than get me to MAGLDR, which is what happens even if I don't hold any keys down.
I fully understand that the key is entering the bootloader, nothing seems to let me get there.

you got a bricked device,
you might get some help if you post your querry in the

I'm of the same opinion; it is virtually bricked.
The stupid thing is that if I select Android Flasher from MAGLDR, I'm able to flash a different version of Android to NAND but it just won't boot.
Will try a different forum.

Well, my forensic analysis has come up with the following technical and somewhat difficult solution to your present problem: "Click the search button"
Now I know it may sound intimidating, but I tested that feature out for you and came up with this:

matt
Shut down completely your phone (remove batter for 15 sec too)
Place battery back and now hold volume down button.
Still hold volume down button and switch on your phone.
You get 3 color screen.
Now attach your usb cable and connect it to PC
Find on this forum your phone stock win mobile rom (link to officila roms thread)
Run stock win 6.5 rom exe (this is sample name: RUU_Leo_S_HTC_WWE_EastEurope_3.14.479.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship.exe)
Follow instructions on your PC screen. On final your phone reboots.
Enjoy your stock phone.

when you get ready to power back on you have to hold volume down and keep holding it while is booting and it should switched to the tricolored screen, plug the usb cable and it should say usb at the bottom when it connects, and if you have hardspl which I know you have after running android, you can use any custom winmo6.5 rom it doesn't have to be an official rom.
can i flash wm6.5 rom into magdlr usb flasher?
No, flash from bootloader.

Are you holding it at the bottom of the button and not in the middle or top, ie as if you are turning the volume down?
I don't think you can flash WM6.5 with flasher. You have to restore from recovery screen by remove battery and restore.

Does the vol down button work normally in the Android rom or when moving around in magldr. To be sure, remove the battery and leave it out for 10 minutes then put the battery back, leave the cover off and try again.
I have heard of one or two users who have also had a problem where the vol down button stopped working. If that is the case there is no way back AFAIK.

volume botton is perfectly working it work around in magdlr mode actually i flashed my hd2 into android rom right now flashing is done without problems, but its not boot normarly it boot only in splash screen....

but the main problem is i cant enter into bootloader mode
I use this tool for Task29 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=917807
Once you run Task29 though it will wipe the NAND memory and magldr and if you can't get back to bootloader mode then you will be stuck on the splashscreen.
Hi,
I'm also having problems, but in my case the progress bar on my phone when installing the new ROM stops at 0% and will stay there indefinably. On my computer a connection problem will be raised.
The same happens with task29.
I've also tried decompressing ROM Utility, putted leoimg.nbh on my 2GB fat32 formatted sdcard, hold down the volume key.
I will get a new screen with "Loading..." on it, but it freezes there.
So, I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
Any help will be appreciated.

HD2 stuck in bootloader after WinMo downgrade

I purchased an HD2 off eBay to replace one with a cracked screen. The seller had been running Android and had attempted to downgrade to Winmo 6.5 (no idea why) and now the phone is stuck in bootloader. I figured it was an easy fix to get it back to running Android from NAND, but so far I'm not having any luck.
The screen shows:
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE
0x05
CotullaHSPL 0x30
It looks like MAGLDR isn't functioning as I can't install CWM (USB init failed error). When I plug in the phone the "USB" message shows up and I get the sound in Windows indicating a USB connection.
I've tried a number of different flashes but all complete much too fast and upon reboot I'm still in the bootloader.
Any ideas?
Install HSPL first.
Is HSPL not installed already? It says "SPL-2.08.HSPL" on the bootloader screen.
You don't flash cwm from that screen. You flash magldr and winmo roms and radios from that screen, then when you restart magldr should appear, assuming your radio is compatible. If not, flash radio 2.15.50 and if it still doesn't start you have problems. Don't touch the spl, you are correct, 2.08.hspl is fine.
First post was SPL-2.08.JSPL, I was thinking is something wrong with SPL.
I've attempted to install MAGLDR a few times and it completes in about 30 seconds instead of the 10 minutes indicated. After rebooting I'm still looking at the bootloader.
EDIT: Just to be clear, I want to get back to Android, not Winmo
Try to flash radio like Samuel said.
I flashed to radio 2.15.50.14, which appeared to work, and still stuck in bootloader.
I have the same radio and it works.
Clean Install MAGLDR:
1. Task 29
2. Flash Radio(2.15 Recommended)
3. MAGLDR 1.13
4. ClockworkMod Recovery
5. Flash rom
If you haven't success could be a hardware problem.
Reinstall winmo and if everything works retry an android fresh install.
This sequence appears to work up to the MAGLDR flash, which flicks straight from 0% to 100% completion. After reboot I'm in the tricolour bootloader screen (even if I hold down power button + down volume).
Just to check I'm flashing correctly, I've downloaded DFT_LEO_MAGLDR113_DAF and I unrar then run ROMUpdateUtility. Is this correct?
When the boatloader loads up, it flashes once as if trying to load something else (MAGLDR I assume) and the text at the top refreshes - don't know if this is relevant
I had a similar problem after my repair. Look into my topic to see if you have he same problem!

Stock rom is running agian.
This is what I did:
1. Put USB in Telephone.
2. Go to red/blue/green flash screen using Volume Down.
3. Flashed using official HTC Rom Updater on PC.
4. Restart Device.
I have however, been scammed.
Remember those 'touchscreen-lines' that run diagonal on your touchscreen if you watch very closely?
They are not present on my device.
This is fishy.
Review on google:
Wich is Dutch for:
Damn, really wished I've went to Vodafone. They are expensive, but at least they are honest.

Don't mind the scam-part. It's just part of my topic and problem.

Nothing unusall there. Its the way you get into the bootloader. To get into magdlr: turn of your device then hold down POWER button (power button only) till magldr menu shows up.

I'll give this a go. On boot, the phone enters the tricolour bootloader screen without me doing anything

hmm that strange. seems like your volume down button is pressed or stuck constantly. did you try to clean its contacts?

i have never opened my hd2 that far, so i dont really know, sorry. I guess you will need a screwdriver but i would look for some tutorials on google on how to open it correctly/safely.
So the only way I should be seeing the tricolour bootloader screen is by holding the down volume button? And if I'm not it means it must be stuck?
I guess the only thing to do is pull it apart then!

yes, volume down to enter tricolor bootloader.
if its stuck? not sure 100%, but very very likely.
I have this same problem. Anyone find a fix for it? Or is it hardware?
