I ve decided to play some games on my N4 but noticed very big battery consumption. I ve played 2 races in NFS MW and battery went down from 36 to 18... I am on CM10.1 with cm kernel. Tried faux one and huge drain as well.
How does your N4 behave during games?

It's a demanding game. There's not really anything weird about this. I always turn on airplane mode whenever I play a demanding game like NFS MW. Just turn off mobile data, Wi-Fi, GPS, etc, and your battery should last longer while playing games.
Is your battery drain when not playing games normal?
Yes its fine while not playing. Just gelt a bit dissapointed with the results after gaming. Well if thats normal, then i have to live with it

Try to play a demanding game on your laptop. See how fast your battery drains then . It's normal.

Now playing 2 races and draining 18% doesn't seem so bad anymore does it?
If you use faux and his app try:
1. Eco mode and under clock(1.134ghz), Under volt
2. GPU 200
3. Turn off data, lower brightness
Those are settings I use got NFS.

How long can you play games on nexus 4 without having your phone burned up?
and on hd games?
Depends on the game, but I played NOVA 3 for around a half hour and my phone barely got warm (I think 32C or 33C)
I don't really pay much attention to it though, as it never becomes an issue for me
I played NFS MW about 3 hours nonstop and got heated at the peak level ...

lol, you want to see some real heat. the other day i was in my car listening to pandora via blutooth and playing a game on the phone, after 15 mins the phone was pretty hot. hottest ive ever felt it in a month of using it. phone didnt appear to slow down though.

Wait... What?
I played Nova 3 for 15 minutes and my CPU temp got as high as 57°C.
P.S. That was with stock kernel.

is there any battery savers that keeps you battery from draining so fast when playing games? Some games I play kill my batteries fast even though I'm plugged into my charger when playing.

A battery saver isn't going to help. Whatever game you are playing is causing the tablet to run full tilt and short of forcing an under clock I don't think you are going to win the power war.

Not going to happen. You can turn your brightness down, but apart from dropping your CPU/GPU's maximum frequency (which can cause your games to slow down, and then we'd get complaints about that), a game is basically going to be the most taxing thing a tablet can do. You can turn off your Wi-Fi/Bluetooth radios if you're not using them, though.

High intensity games will drain the battery faster, that's just physics unfortunately. High CPU load and screen use needs more electricity
Instead of an app, you can turn down your brightness to the lowest comfortable minimum, that alone will save a lot. Also turn off wifi as some games pull down ads which would use more battery.
If you don't want to lose performance, Undervolt CPU and GPU, Turn off unnecessary sensors (WiFi, Bluetooth), and turn screen brightness down. You could audio use Greenify but that's bout going to help much when you're gaming. And also try different kernels.
Other than that, there's not much you can do to save battery and not lose performance.
ok thanks

charge finishes faster then it charges? well you're obviously doing something that's making your phone overheat.

thats normal. not even close to overheating, especially while being plugged in. thats even cool compared how warm you can get playing some really intensive games and being plugged in.
When playing games like Shadowgun online, or streaming live TV through TWC the back camera area gets pretty hot, what's going on? Is that normal or should I be worried?
It is normal.
Just curious but how is your battery life while playing shadowgun

It is where the processor is located. It will get pretty hot after a bunch of use.

Hey guys! So after I bought my n4, I thought of testing the battery. After playing for about 1 and a half hours, watching a 45 minute movie and browsing the Web for about one hour or maybe two, it finally died. What do you think of it?

very normal.
battery life will all depend on your setup(rom/kernel/apps), your phone signal, and your personal use. most people see between 2.5 and 4.5 hours, while a few see quite a bit more, 4-7 hours

Yeah its very normal...While consuming heavy multimedia, your n4 is sure to be dead within 3-4 hours...
I played GTA 3 with lowest resolution and it drained 10% of my battery in 20 min!
Guess what would hav happened if i maxed out the performance!!!
