Hi guys,
I'd gladly post this on the CM7 RC's thread over at the dev forum but I have yet to accumulate 10 posts.
Lately I've been experiencing weird battery % issues in CM7RC2 and now CM7RC4, that the charging would be stuck at a certain percentage even if I charged it overnight. It never goes to full, until I pulled the battery and rebooted.
Is something wrong with my battery?

Are you using an official battery or a third-party battery?
I'm using the official one
I'd try charging the battery to full then wiping battery stats from within Clockwork Recovery.

I would definitely try this.. I had the same problem and it worked for me.. after you reset the stats, drain the battery again till the phone dies, fully charge again, and wipe again

First, doing the battery drain is effective in calibrating the battery meter but is still probably a bad idea because by doing it you are decreasing how much charge the battery can hold (i.e., a full charge will not last as long). It might not be super noticeable, and doing it once in a blue moon is likely not a big deal, but don't do it often or you'll just end up having to replace your battery. Deleting battery stats should be enough to correct the OP's problem, and allowing your phone to recalibrate under normal use is fine but takes longer.
That said, I do the battery drain anyway, but I would definitely suggest not doing it more than once every 6+ months. Wiping battery stats often is not necessary at all, unless of course you are actually having a problem like the OP is.
Second, you definitely should not clear battery stats AFTER performing a battery drain and recharge. The whole point of doing the battery drain is to let the phone gather new information about the battery since you just wiped the battery stats. If you wipe them again after doing that, the battery drain was useless.
I have CM7.1 on my MT4G. Over the past week or so, my battery has been dying after 2-3 minutes of use. I'll get a full charge, take it off the charger, use any app(Angry Birds, Gtalk, text messaging...) and the phone will shut itself off after just a couple minutes of use. When I turn it back on, it says 2%-3%. It then shuts itself off again, I plug it in and turn it on...says anything from 3% to 90%.
I've always ran the battery down and charged to full. Is my battery kaput? Is there a way to fix this?

Most likely.. take out the battery and inspect for leaks(might be very small discharge you might not see it clearly leak can and will damage your phone)..let it die completely, and let it stay off, charge it till the green light comes on, reboot into recovery, clear battery stats, reboot and see how long it last, also change your brightness, and other settings that might be consuming battery use..if none of these helps.. just buy another battery.
Sounds like your battery is screwed. Just buy a oem battery or get a mugen power 1650mAh

My issues aren't quite that bad, but after I upgraded to CM7.1 from 7.0, by battery has been terrible. 15-20m of phone calls over BT takes ~20% of the battery. 15m on Angry Birds chewed up ~40% of the battery. I downloaded the latest nightly (252) and will see what happens.
Try a dif battery and see if it does the same thing. So you can rule things out

Mines also been horrible since I went from CM 7.0 to CM 7.1. Not sure whats up but it dies in like 6 hours on standby. the battery use app shows that most of the battery usage is by "Cell Standby". So effectively, doing 'nothing' is eating up the battery?

I guess I'm not having the problem you guys are having with battery drain. Granted I didnt use my phone that heavily, but still sitting at 60% after 10 hours. But if your battery is dead after 3 minutes something is seriously wrong, I agree and try a new battery.

You need to calibrate the battery after changing ROM's. Download a battery calibrator from the market. (Don't pay for one. There are like 10 free ones)
Charge the phone fully overnight. Calibrate it in the morning.
Give it a few days to gather new battery data, and then enjoy getting a full day's use from the phone.
Update
So, it's gonna have to be the battery. Recalibrated, no good. Tried a few different ROMs from CM7 nightlies to MIUI, no good.
Waiting for the new battery to get here to be sure.

hello there, i got 2 mytouch 4g both running the same rom (virtuous unity 2.39) one of them has eaten 2 batteries that i bought thinking that the batteries were somehow broken or damaged... i came across this thread, read the reply recomending battery calibrator when i reached for my phone (that i left sitting on my drawer waiting for a new batt AGAIN) to give it a try and to my surprise it was still on and i has been on for 2 days 11hours and the fricking battery was at 97% before that it started to turn off-discharge so i put the thing on airplane mode and there it was till now... dunno why or what but i think it has something to do with the radio/network... hope we find a cure for this

I have the galaxy s4 for almost 2months and now it has an annoying bug -
I have more than 50% battery and sometimes it get stucked (freezed) and restart itself, and he is failing to reboot until I plug him to the charger.
When he boots up it says that it has 0% battery, even though it had more than a half before it happened
What should I do?

i had same problem. your battery is dead. buy a new stock battery and solve this problem

Battery Is fully charged. As soos as I unplugged it. The warning appeared. Battery Critically low. Wtf. Phone is less than 2months old.
This only happened twice. Then I let the battery drain completely and recharged it completely. Now it seems fine.
Samsung.....no words.... :thumbdown: :banghead:
I had a friend who had the same issue, recovery showed a correct value.
Anyway, I took off the back cover and the battery was swolen, he got it replaced under his carrier's warranty the next day.

To recalibrate the battery go to the dial pad, and input x#0228# and a battery status screen will pop up, giving you some information about your battery and such, tap the Quick start, the screen should go off, then come back on might have to wait few secs. and you will notice your battery % might of changed. try doing it a few time until the % stops changing and give you a "real" battery %, then fully charge the battery. should fix any glitches with the battery being read incorrectly. if it doesn't work might mean your battery had it!
From my experience my battery was on 60% after few hours of use, then I recalibrated it and it went down to 20%, fully charged it now my battery lasting a lot longer than before
At least do a battery pull. Don't bother with apps and scripts that wipe battery stats. Do a pull, inspect for leakage, swollen , or damaged areas.

My battery is draining heavily.... And i wanna calibrate my battery as it was before so that i can get 7 hours sot!!! Plz guide me .....Thanks

You cannot calibrate your battery. All information about calibrating is outdated and doesn't apply to new phones.
Maybe your battery cant keep a charge anymore.I had this problem with my old nexus 4. Reseting battery stats is total bull because android does this automatically when you charge your phone above 90%. Best way to recalibrate is to let you battery discharge till 0% and let is shutdown automatically.After this charge it to 100% in one run and your battery is calibrated again. Dont do this to often because its bad for your battery lifetime.

I got a Note 4 a few days ago and it has battery issues.
I got it second hand online from a guy I don't know. I'm from Romania, I think the phone is from the UK, it's Verizon branded. The model is SM-N910V and the Android version is 6.0.1. It's not rooted. I noticed this V version isn't very common.
The battery that came with it was pretty poor, it would drain in a few hours with minimal usage and the worst problem is the phone would suddenly shut down at about 30-35% battery life. Then it would go into a booting loop, without being able to actually boot until I plugged it in.
I bought a new genuine battery from a popular online store here (F64), battery life is better, but still with just wifi, it went to 50% in about 2 hours of browsing. Without wifi or data (very little), it lasted for a day and a half. But the phone suddenly shut down at 8% battery life, again going into a booting loop, without being able to actually boot until I plugged it in. I'd also like to mention, when the new battery came, it only had 4% battery life left (I heard they should come about half charged, is that true?) and also there were a few reviews from people who had to try multiple batteries from this store until they got lucky with a good one. Both the old and the new batteries look identical, I don't see any signs of counterfeit.
Should I return the battery and try a new one? Is there a chance there's something wrong with the device itself?

Return the battery.
The seller store the battery in a very poor way.
Lithium should be kept at around 40% charged if you store it for a long time (more than 1 month)
I have 5 batteries with me, 3 of them are considered broken (70 - 60% left)
The last 2 are still in very good condition, around 98 - 99%
About your device, you will need around a few days of charge cycle with a good battery.

I just charged it to 100% slowly from my PC, will use it normally and see how much the battery lasts and if it shuts down again. As I went through forums, some people say I need to do battery calibration. If it's still bad, I'll return it.

Try to get a battery direct from Samsung. Failing that buy a PowerBear or Anker. Do a factory reset and calibrate your battery by fully charging it, then running it down to 0% (if it shuts down, keep turning back on until it won't turn on). Then charge fully back to 100% again - DO NOT USE FAST CHARGE.

I will look for a store somewhere. I don't think I can find those two brands here.
I did a factory reset when I bought it a few days ago, but that was with the old battery. Will do the factory reset after I drain it to 0% later today.
I don't have a 'fast charge' charger, and I have it disabled in settings.

What I said before is for all phone that uses Lithium Battery.
Lithium Battery must be kept in a storage at around 40 - 80% charged & must avoid hot places if you don't use it for a long time.
Draining Lithium Battery to 0% will deteriorate the battery faster so it's a big NO.
Calibration is done on the phone not the battery.
Delete "batterystats.bin" to calibrate the battery gauge.
Calibration is useless if the battery is bad (you received it at 0% it means that the storage condition is bad thus the battery is bad.
Charging from PC is a BIG NO as USB port on PC only provide around 500mAh & usually it's unstable.
The charging rate is too low & it could deteriorate the battery faster too.
And the last....I think factory reset doesn't necessary reset the batterystats.bin, so you have to delete it manually if you are rooted or follow this link if you are not rooted.

I had a similar problems, and I have received my new battery yesterday which has been charged in 51% so I drained it to 1%-0% without unexpected shutting downs, I have charged it again and so far it seems to be ok

Hi, I didn't return the new battery after all, I think it 'calibrated' itself after the first charge. Also it goes from 100% to 1% and shuts down properly now.
I did two tests on full battery:
- barely using it, no wifi, data etc, just a few short calls (probably 30 mins of OST) and it lasted almost 6 days
- stress test, wifi and data on, gps with maps and waze on, maximum brightness and and a very long youtube video playing constantly (screen on) and it lasted about 5 hours and 30 mins
In normal use it lasts me about 2 days, but it slightly worries me that if I keep mobile data on all the time it only lasts until the end of the first day.
Would this be considered a good battery life for the Note4?
