I'm close to my 14 days return period at bb and suddenly I noticed that the glass screen on my Iconia is separating a bit noticeable enough for my fingers to feel it when I touch that section. It is the area at the docking connector side, the screen is raised a bit higher than the side metal bezel. When I pushed it down hard it flushed back in but raised again after some time. I never noticed it before and I've been really using it daily for more than a week now and only until yesterday I saw this. I feel really bad because I really love my Iconia and was really planning to keep it. I had the same issue with my HTC EVO, but I held on to it because I've read in the EVO forum that others have even worst screen separation and mine wasn't as bad. So I'm wondering if most Iconias have this issue so I don't need to return it anymore. I've checked the display unit at bb and it has same screen lifting around that section near the docking connector.

Same issue here. I noticed it the other day. I have a week left on my 14 day return period. Honestly it is not that big of a problem to me. I cannot push it back down, I just figured it was made that way. I noticed the demo unit at my local best buy was the same way. I do not think it is a deal breaker to me.
Yeah mine is like that too :\
MMm - no trouble here yet. Then again I was a first generation nook owner who never had a button crack, and those were hard to find ;-)
I take mine to and from work every day and use it at least 2 hours a day not counting weekend software development time where it's my test platform, so you could call mine pretty high wear and tear.
So it seems like it is common to have that slight lift on the screen and hopefully will not get worst than it is. I will just keep it and not replace with another one, who knows the replacement might even be worst or have dust like the others were complaining. I've put too much time setting this up and I really love it even with all the criticism it gets from other users.
I feel a slight raise on mine - but far from calling it an issue.
There's some dust particles getting under there now...think Staples would accept a return for that? Still in my 14 days. It's annoying.
Staples told me they would take it back for any reason in 14 days... even if you just decided you didn't like it.

Oh no, I hate dust inside the screen. Was your screen raised really high or just a bit?
Sent from my A500 using Tapatalk
lol. There shouldn't be any question at all....take it back.
I'm not returning mine but this is irritating for sure
I believe it is designed that way, just as there is the gap between the glass and frame on the opposite side (where the microphone is placed in the center).
I for one find the A500 a great piece of hardware, and this doesn't bother me a bit... I actually hadn't noticed until you mentioned it here ;-)

Raised here as well
Looks like an intentional raise to me though. The sides are flush and begin to raise about 1.5 inches in from the side of the tablet toward the center until it reaches it's highest point dead center to the dock port. Then back down by the same amount.
If it is not intentional it sure is a nicely implemented defect.
If I run my finger along the edge of the screen I can feel the glass being raised ever so slightly, fractions of a millimeter, towards the middle, above the dock connector.
Though as I look closer and use a metal ruler I find that it's not the glass that is raised but rather the bezel that is lowered slightly in the middle, above the connector.
All of them I have seen are like that, don't think its a defect at all.
It looks like it is easy for dust to get in past the microsd slot area as you can see the back of the screen through the cracks. I would be careful outside and in dusty areas. I am going to look for a sleeve that covers it or something...it should be sealed better than this.
I haven't had any dust yet, (hopefully never) and my screen is raised. (or the bezel is lowered)
I'm getting that too now. It's definately raised. I checked when the OP first posted this and it was not like this. Now I can press on the glass just above and slightly to the right of the dock connector and the screen goes down flatter. The raised area is not quite centered. I've had this tablet 3 days shy of 1 month.

So my n7 from the play store has been pretty awesome. Checked the screen test app and I have no dead pixels. My battery is fine.
But reading the forums makes me paranoid. I could sworn when I first got it, the left side was depressed more so the silver outlining felt raised. Now the bezel and silver lining seem to be level. There`s no creakiness when I put pressure on the side though. Am I just being paranoid?

Same here, I picked mine up at staples and opened it up right there knowing about the problems. It was fine for about a week, then
the middle of the left side started to raise a little. didn't bother me too much until today, wife was playing with it and she noticed it.
Trust me, she don't notice anything!! after I looked, it got a little worse so I have til Monday to bring it back.
Initially my screen was basically level with the bezel, maybe a small portion of the left middle side of the screen raising just above the bezel. It wasn't that noticeable. After a week though, it has gotten worse. Not "screen falling off worse," but a much larger amount of the screen is above the bezel now in the left middle area.
So i was doing a final check before i go ahead and unlock bootloader and start flashing since unlocking voids your warranty with google.
upon inspections, i found out that when i PUSH on the lower left corner on the phone, it creaks PRETTY loudly, it almost sounded like im clicking on my mouse....
Anyone else got this!??!?!
look at the frame of your phone. mine wasn't flush where the chrome and rubber frames met, and had to rma it
no, everything look uniform. Same color and all. it just clicks when i push out.
Also not when i plug in my charger and wiggle it a bit. it makes some noise....i know its not my charging cord cuz i use like 3 different ones.
Thanks,
You can relock the bootloader that's a non issue. I have the creaking clicking sound too but on the left side above the volume rocker. I was going to exchange it but went to the T-Mobile store and the sales reps N4 and the display unit do the same thing. No unevenness in the bezel to case on any of them either. I decided there are worse problems in the world.

i dont have this issue, phone really feel solid!
Have the same thing on the left side of the USB port looks flush but I can push it in a little and it makes a noise doesn't seem to be doing any hard and it doesn't look off so I'm fine with it

I have the same creaking in the bottom left corner, right below the speaker. It creaks if I squeeze the two ends of the glass, or if I squeeze the bezel in that area. I'm slightly nervous that this may contribute to the back glass cracking, but I think that's probably being overly paranoid. I actually ordered a torx T5 screwdriver to see if loosening and tightening the screw in that area makes a difference. I'll post back here once I get the screwdriver and try it out.

Please do. I'm a sufferer as well and just thought a few minutes ago if tightening the screws could help. Because if that's all it is, then... BALLIN'.
But seriously, even if it doesn't help, I think I'll be able to live with it. I mean I don't normally squeeze the bottom of the phone like that.
Patently waiting for a reply
I should have the screwdriver by Wednesday, according to USPS. I will update everyone once I get it.

I have tried the Torx screwdriver for this issue. It doesn't do anything. My first Nexus was really bad with this problem, picking it up would cause a creak...you could even push the bezel at the bottom left corner and it would feel "mushy", as there was some slight give. I got an RMA and the replacement unit arrived yesterday. Same issue, but not as bad as the first one...there's no give on the bezel, but squeezing that left corner can produce a creak. Looking at the teardown on iFixit, I don't see what would cause this other than glue from the back or pressure on the speaker unit.
oh damn, that issue is worst than mines. Good luck on it bro
mines is just pushing in on the corner...i can pretty much live with it since i have my bumper on 24/7 but im thinking about getting a rma.
what do you guys think? rma or no?

If that's the only issue, and it's not that bad, I wouldn't rma it. The chances of getting one with something else wrong make it not worth it in my view.

yea, besides the corner issue, i have the buzzing from the earpiece as well..but other than that. everything else is perfect.
thanks
The creaking in the lower left of my N4 seems to have gotten worse. It's not a huge deal, especially since I normally keep my N4 in a TPU case, but it is annoying. Anyone else notice the same thing? I'm tempted to put a very small amount of crazy glue near where the glass and plastic meet in that corner (ever since a tiny amount of crazy glue completely fixed the screen lift problem with my N7, it's been on my mind for various fixes).
I have the same thing on the upper left corner just above the volume button. Again this is on the plastic surround. If I hold in landscape for example the area my left thumb goes lands right there and it creaks hell. However it won't do it again unless I press slightly on the glass in the same area and it clicks.
These all sound like clips or something not clicking into place.
My volume rocker was loose from day one, now the power button is getting loose the more I use it.
Poor BQ IMO.
I need to stay out of these forums you guys are making me paranoid looking for things I shouldn't. like squeezing my phone and doing all sorts of strange things lmao

Haha. Don't go too crazy. The creaking, at least in my case, is a minor annoyance. It's not a big deal. I've learned a long time ago that there's no such thing as a perfect phone.

Are you talking about cracking with the speaker or with the glass.

I have some creaking in two spots on the sides. One is located above the volume rockers (which is pretty loose) and the other is on the same side but towards the bottom of the phone. If everything else is working perfectly on your phone, I don't think it's worth an RMA. Slap on a bumper and you'll never notice the creaking. Plus, it doesn't hamper any functionality on the phone so it's a minor issue imo.

i have noticed mine creaking as well. mine is on the back where the lg logo is, on the side where the power button is by. if i put any pressure back there it creaks. i was worried it might be lose but i figured they might all do that. lol

i had the annoying creaking on my phone too. i tried fixing it by opening the back panel and checking it but there is nothing that i could do to make it stop so i just slapped a bumper on it and called it done.
My phone creaks mercilessly at the bottom where the USB port is, on either side, but even more noticeably on the right side. Like others have said, the bumper will "fix" the issue, but it's not really an ideal solution IMO. I've wondered if tightening the screws at the bottom would help/fix the issue but I don't have a T4 screwdriver :-/

Is there a solution of that creaky noise at the bottom near the USB-Port? Btw. where does it come from this creaky noise? Hollow space?

I figure it's not worth an RMA. The replacement may be the same. Anytime I apply some pressure I hear some "sticky / glue" sound. It's just not worth RMA'ing if my device is working as it should.

Mine has a slightly different issue. If I press on the back glass in roughly the middle of the phone (maybe below/left of center, slightly), the glass deforms a bit (you can see it in the reflection) and the phone makes a light "pop" sound.
I think it's the edge of the bezel deforming slightly on the left side. I can see it move slightly (the black plastic side comes out a fraction of a fraction of a centimeter from the silver part).
have the same problem. I will replace it if the problem becomes worse. but as of now it's only creaking. I have speaker problems and will replace it soon.

Good Day
My gf's white I9500 has a tiny bubble (or what seems like one) under the screen of her phone.
It is not showing on the pictures I take so I will try my best to explain it to you.
The phone was purchased on Saturday 14th September and she noticed it on Tuesday evening. There is NO screen protector on the phone.
So it's located towards the top and slightly left hand side of the phone screen.
It's quite small probably 1-2mm
When I press it, it seems to disappear but reappears shortly. When I blow on to the screen to create steam as if I am going to clean it, everywhere around the bubble streams up except the actual bubble. When I run my nail across the screen I feel maybe a slight bump.
In my opinion I feel the last coat on the glass was a thin film which was not put on properly due to dust or an air pocket.
Has anybody seen this or have an idea of what it is and what has caused it?
Samsung should clearly cover it because it seems like a defect

Take it back from where she bought it and ask for replacement. They will check it and if is a manufacturing defect (which 100% is), she will get a new one.
Ask for replacement if that tiny bubble really bothers her.

hey milan188, did you got your gf's phone replaced under warranty?
I noticed the same issue about one week after I bought my phone.
But on my device, the bubbles appear and disappear without a trace. I couldn't establish a pattern or a reason. See the attached picture.
those seem on surface of the screen so maybe the screen protector causes them ... especially if they aren't permanently there ...

I forgot to say I removed the screen protector and the bubbles are still there, unchanged. It's something wrong with the samsung amoled + gorilla glass combo.
Today is expanded, see the picture
LE: later it went away, slowly. This time it responded to pressing on the glass of the screen, the more I pressed, the more it dissipated away slowly.
It's like the glass hasn't been applied properly from the factory. But why is it appearing randomly? Why do the air bubbles come back?

Get Samsung to repair it. They come and go most likely cause of pressure? Most of the time I guess this bubbles appear is cause the loca is being spread away but when pressure is pressed against it the bubbles go away? I'm not sure but just warranty service it and get it over with.
