I have some problems with the battery of my N10. Very ofen the percentage don't go down while using. Then, when i reboot, the battery drops e.g. from 90% to 50%. So it seens the percentage is just not updated...
The other strange issue is that the N10 often shuts down when i disconnect it from the charger. When i turn it on again is says (still) fully charged.
Is there a calibration or something to reset to fix this or is my device broken?

I have the exact same problem. I have even tried installing GSam battery monitor because the stock battery would sometime never leave 100%. GSam will also stay at 100% sometimes until the tablet shuts down from a dead battery. My N10 will also sometimes shut down when I plug in the charger when it does still have power left.
+1 on the above two. I wonder if this is a hardware defect or software issue.

If you are rooted you could wipe battery stats. Worth a try.
Rom Toolbox Lite has this option under rom management -> wipe options -> wipe battery stats

The Wipe Battery stats feature has been removed from TWRP.
I don't have any of the above mentioned problems but I have noticed other quirks about the battery/charging operation.

It's an hardware issue. Get a replacement device asap.

Same issue, tablet turns off both when I put on the charger and take off. This is my third nexus and I was so excited because it didn't have light bleed. The first one was terrible and they sent a replacement. That was about half as bad light bleed from two corners instead of four. Google is really slow with refunds and still has a pending charge for the replacement which they received on the 14th of December. My replacement I decided to return for a refund. They received that on the 17th , still nothing from that either. This third one was purchased at Walmart so I can at least get a refund.

One day i was found that my magic isn't charged fully - charging level is stuck at same % (say 66%) although charger was plugged in during all the night.
Beginning from this moment the phone doesn't detect battery level correctly and don't charging up to 100% nor when it is on nor when it is off. For example it can show me one value but after reboot shows differently another value (for example was 46% but after rebooting is 8%, or in some cases battery level can be even more, than before i performing reboot - say was 22% but after rebooting is 78%).
I'd tried wipe, erase system partition and re-flash rom, flash another roms - all without any luck. So i decided that my battery is died. But when i got a brand new battery (from another just bought magic), i got the same issue as in case of my battery. Also another magic works perfect with my battery.
It appears that problem in the phone itself? Anybody got the same issue?

That is what i waa going to say, but I'm sure it doesnt matter what level your battery is when you do this aslong as it doesnt die during the process. Anyways you could have a faulty phone reading the levels wrong if changing roms and doing this doesnt work.

I found several similar cases on this forum but no one answer that actually explain what and why it happens.
In my case i got this issue after performing battery calibration procedure. Maybe is just coincidence, i don't know.

Yep, of course i tried do this from recovery and manually deleting battery stats file - both with no luck. Also during rom flashing battery stats also was erased.
Tried un-root my phone by flashing Android 1.5 from MT3G - issue isn't disappear. After a week maximum detected battery level is falling down and i can't get even 40% of charge. Now, two weeks later, maximum charging level is only few %. Damn it

First time i installed it i noticed it help A LOT with battery consumption.. from 12 midnight till 10 am from the other day it went from 99 to 97... that is.. like a miracle. then i did something stupid.. i used "battery calibrator" and it ruined it. Today it wen from 12 to 10 am in the morning with 99 to 60 then 49 (typical battery jump)...
I repeat, it's in the night, were wifi is off, refresh is off and nothing (that's what i'm planning to discover) is running or updating.
I attach some screens.
1) first install of the new rom. you can see it sleeps like a baby.... plain.
2).. goes down.. and down... even though i'm not using it.
any comments, help or suggestions? thanks in advanced!

Make your phone recalibrate the battery. Follow the following steps:
1 Use the phone till you have 10% or less battery left.
2 Wipe battery stats from 2ndinit recovery.
3 Boot into CM10.
4 Charge your battery to 100%.
Doing this will make the phone generate a new battery stats file and should solve your problems.

i'll try that. but already done it when installed the last build for the second time. i do wipe cache / dalvik / batt stats then flash ROM and all over again with the wipes.

If you've uninstalled your battery calibrator app or if you've not used it after the wipe, then you shouldn't have any abnormal battery drain...
If wiping battery stats doesn't work, then most people recommend reflashing the ROM, but you've already done that, so you shouldn't have the battery drain now.
Just put your phone to sleep for a few hours, and let's see what happens after doing that.
This is what i did after seeing the sudden drop the other night:
- let it drain normal till the day finishes (at midnight, that's when i did the following)
- charged the battery to 100% and turn off phone.
- pull battery., connect charger to wall and recovery.
- install ROM without battery on. Wipe cache, dalvik, stats batt, install rom, wipe cache, dalvik and statts (again)
- boot into cm10, turn off screen and went to sleep.
- THIS morning, i saw it drained me up to 60 all night.
...
so as you can see.. i've already seen that after reflashing nothing has happened.
no, i didn't use again the calibrator.

I'm not 100% sure, but as far as I remember, the battery stats gets generated while CHARGING a drained battery.
That's why you should drain the battery, wipe stats and THEN charge it to 100%. As it charges, the battery sensor detects levels (15, 30, 60 and such I think) and generates the battery stats based on these readings.
Afterwards, based on these stats, it generates a reading of battery drain, as the battery sensor itself senses only certain levels.
So, drain, wipe and THEN charge. Do this and let me know if the problem still persists.

hmmm! never tried that!.. i was just charging it and it's in 90.. so i'll let it drain and tell you later thanks for that suggestion.

Just read and engrave to your memory folks! Battery calibration never ever had a positive effect on the battery life and the battery usage shown in the android in-built "Battery Use"-app... and by the way, the stats are reset every time you unplug your nearly fully charged phone from the cable.
Hey, rather than blaming your battery stats I'd search for a process running all the time. Looks like something is keeping the phone awake.
The battery calibration IS A MYTH, as explained here, so don't waste your time wiping the values in Recovery. If you don't find any hyper-active processes with the following procedure, the drops might be related to a worn battery (I don't know how old your phone/battery is).
Open a terminal console and type:
$ top -n 1|head
(if you don't have Hacker's Keyboard installed and selected as Input Method you might need to copy and paste the line above, off course without the dollar sign).
Look at the processes listed as output and paste them here.

You had it coming since you are using Swipe... It's chewing up your CPU, and consequently your battery. Search the site. Off the top of my head I think it was a common issue.

There's an interesting lesson to be learned here: if no deep sleep can be achieved, don't blame the ROM, and look for a stubborn process which refuses to stop when the kernel tell is to.
I'm finding that sometimes when I plug in the tablet to charge even if they battery is almost full, as soon as I plug it in it will think the battery is at 0% and start shutting down.
When I power it on and look at the battery stats it shows that the battery went to zero and then goes back up to were it was before the shutdown.
Also another issue is that the battery status will say its not charging even though it's not plugged in and the level never goes down even after a reboot. I find to fix it I need to go into a custom recovery and reset the battery stats for it to return to normal for a few hours.
I'm running on the stock image.
Its annoying, but I'm hoping that the next update will fix this.
Can't say I've ever experienced such an issue, on any device. If your looking for a fix, perhaps reflashing the factory image completely might help (I don't understand the battery stats file too much, but I would think a reflash would probably replace that file, and fix the problem).

I thought I was the only one with these problems. Never had these issues on my Galaxy Nexus. Now on the N10 I have the first problem you mentioned + battery % not moving until I reboot the unit (Random). Very annoying...I called Google Play support and after doing some test told me that they'll send my a new unit.
Note: I've flashed the Google image and I still had the issue (seems less frequent)...Sometimes I can have the % correctly refreshed and sometimes it stops after a few minutes.

I have the same issue and my replacement is on it's way.
So I called support and I'm getting a replacement device.
I've been searching everywhere, thanks to this thread now I know I'm not the only one having these exact same issues. Looks like I'll be making a call to Google Support
Probably a software issue to be addressed in a later update.

So far not happened on my replacement device. Went from 70% to almost 10%. Still testing. Also wakeup time is normal. I think it was hardware related.
EDIT: on my 3rd day and this new device always correctly reports battery life. Definitely hardware.

Yes my replacement unit is perfect. On my fourth day now and no issues whatsoever. My first unit was doing it day 1.

I got my replacement unit 4 days ago and the problem is definitely gone! On my first device it also happened since day one.
My Nexus 10 just started doing this after a reboot last night, I guess I'll have to ring support and get a replacement.
I'm running a custom kernel, recovery and unlocked bootloader. Do I have to flash back to complete stock before I send it in?

I'm not sure if I have this issue, but my N10 is definitely acting strange.. I put it in my bag this morning on 42% charge and when I took it out in the afternoon it was dead (I thought I might have hit it to something and damaged it), but when I plugged it in it started to charge after a few minutes from 0%. Then it rebooted after like 5 minutes without me touching it and it's charging for now. The battery stats don't show a drop to 0%, the graph ends at 42..
I've had this device for around 3 months now and never encountered this issue before, so I'm not sure if it's really a hardware issue, but I'd be quite disappointed if I had to get a replacement as this one is a really good one in terms of the other common issues (bleed, throttling, creak).
Does anyone else have a massive battery drain in Kit Kat? I can charge my Nexus to 100% and in an hour or two it's completely dead with blinking red light. I tried restarting to bootloader when it was at 5% but it was still on for like a half hour. Once I restarted my phone, my battery read 0%. I'm thinking it may be time to change the battery if no one else is having this problem.
I suggest you to reset the battery stat from the recovery. The probability that this works are low but is better then nothing.
How do I do that from recovery?
Edit: phone was charged to 98%, rebooted into recovery to see if I could wipe stats in TWRP, rebooted again, phone reads 28%, 3 minutes later it read 66%.

To wipe battery stats in TWRP:
boot into TWRP recovery
/advanced/File Manager/
folder /data/system/
click batterystats.bin
click Delete
reboot system
If you can't see the folder, you need to mount the data folder.

You should have the wipe battery stat under advanced in your recovery.
The right step to follow are:
1. charging the battery FULLY
2. wipe Battery Stats
3. don't charge the device until the battery still turns off your device because it empty
4. now again FULLY charge without interruption

Yeah I figured. Thought it was a KitKat bug at first but then it started getting ridiculous. Phone was at 70%, started taking a photosphere, phone shut off, and when I turned it back on it was at 3%.
No its not. Bought it off Craigslist. Just gonna order a battery off eBay for $18 and replace it myself, see if that fixes anything.

Everytime I restarted the phone, it would read a different percent.
I ended up running the phone on full brightness, with like everything turned on to drain the battery all the way down.
& Everytime it would shut off cause it had no battery left, just restart it and keep draining it until when you reboot the phone it no longer turns on(because the battery if fully drained of course).
That's when it is really dead.
Then just charge it to 100%, and keep it charging for about 20 extra minutes once it hits 100%, and now it's back to normal!

So yesterday it was so dead that it gave me the red blinking light, should I charge it when that happens again and should I leave it off while charging it or turn it on and not touch it?

I am currently having WakeLock problems, but I do not beleive this was the cause.
I was able to restart it after it died about 4-6 times, till it was fully dead.
Then I charged the phone, and kept it off the whole time.
I installed wakelock detector to make sure that wasn't the problem. I had this problem on the stock rom even before I rooted. So the problem hasn't persisted since?

Anyway, i thought this is probably due to faulty battery. I purchased another one and now this one doesn't reboot at random times but seems like the phone keeps reading the battery percentage wrong, sometimes it doesn't charge over certain percent, just gets stuck at 77% or 63% or any percentage really. If I remove the battery and plug it back in, it shows a completely different percentage everytime. I have tried wiping battery stats, do a full discharge/charge, nothing seems to help. battery displaying different percentage after u remove it and put it back in is normal i have 3 note4s all do the same (up to 10 percentage change, it either increases or decreases) but the other issues like getting stuck on a certain percentage are not normal make sure u have the genuine battery and try stock rom.

yeah, i said I wiped battery stats, which is basically recalibration

the only way to fix this replace your battery by new one
i tried all options (Format ROM - Wipe battery status - Getting back to stock ROM - Unroot - re Celebrate apps - Changing recovery-Removing battery from device for while sleeping - charge without fast charge - charge via USB)
i asked myself after that all of this headache doesn't worth 20$, i replaced the battery with new one and its working fine now

i tried all options (Format ROM - Wipe battery status - Getting back to stock ROM - Unroot - re Celebrate apps - Changing recovery-Removing battery from device for while sleeping - charge without fast charge - charge via USB)
i asked myself after that all of this headache doesn't worth 20$, i replaced the battery with new one and its working fine now

yeah, i replaced battery as well but it's still the same issue. old one at least charged fully but would randomly reboot on me, the new one doesn't reboot but drains extra fast and doesn't always charge fully. can't believe both batteries are faulty
I am sorry for summoning this old post but did you find any solution to your problem? I have exactly the same experience with my note 4.

Power down and then out-and-in same battery and my stuck-at78%... was 100% when started.
if you having problems with auto restarting.... download the app " WAKE LOCK" and put it on Partial Wake Lock setting... your restarts will be a thing of the past.
