You need to provide more info for help. Usb stick size? Stick speed? Usb hub, or just the straigh otg ? Are you makimg sure your using the 13.04 inage, and not the 12.10? What is the name of the image your trying to flash?
When posting questions, provide as much as info as possible. People are helping for free. Dont make us work for it. Having said that, provide the info and I will be more than happy to help as much as possible.

2 different sticks, one 4gb one 16gb, have no idea what speed they are or how to find that out. Both straight otg. Yes, using the current image, file name is
raring-preinstalled-desktop-armhf+nexus7.img
Sorry for not providing pertinent info, wasn't aware of what was required for help.

If it is not mounting, it is possible that the image download is corrupted. You may need to download again.
Installing to and booting from slower usb devices is also far from ideal. The type that the dev bought to use was a16 Gb that cost $75. Definitely not a basic stick that can be bought from wal mart. Unless you have a high end usb stick or an external hdd with its own power source, your experience will be extremely slow, and possibly almost unusable. If you do use a fast device, I recommend formatting it to ext4, and stay away from ntfs and fat32 all together.

I'll try ext4 tonight and download the img again, thanks!

With so many great games out that are very large, what is the best way to keep storage? I just cycle through them and uninstall them when done. Pretty much play one large game at a time. Is there a better way/way to increase storage?
Thanks

I've been curious about this also. But havent been able to completely figure it out by reading on the internet. Could you explain?
Does this mean that with USB OTG and NExus 7 Media importer, you could for example:
Plug and 16 GB USB Memory stick into your nexus, and your nexus would then have 16GB extra storage? Or does USB OTG only view whats already on the USB, so you'd put music/videos onto the USB stick, then it shows you that but doesnt read the storage?
I hope this makes sense
Thanks !
I'm rooted using the OTG-usb and stickmount. I have added music, videos, and pictures to a connected thumbdrive or sdcard and they show up and play just fine using the Nexus apps.
Root and Stickmount seems most popular method (many threads on XDA), or you could try this app if not rooted.
Nexus media importer is the way to go if ur not rooted. Works perfectly no problems whatsoever.

I've converted my Optimus G into a Nexus 4 and am wondering if anyone has tried to use MultiROM with their handset. Apparently it functions for the Nexus 7 with what limited knowledge I have in reading up on it. The reason I ask is because I'd ultimately like to run stock Android on some form along with Ubuntu Phone which has released is developer version to our phone recently, and this can be accomplished on the Nexus 7.
Should I even bother asking at this point I don't know, but figured its worth a shot as I love flashing roms whenever is convenient. I don't believe that Boot Manager in the play store is yet supported for the Nexus 4 at this point and if it were I doubt it would allow for ubuntu phone.

Because Optimus G is G+4, but Nexus 4 is just 4
It has ran just fine until the last month or so. Using an early cm 10.1 room with capacitive buttons and 8gb sd recognition. Lately my phone will randomly power off for no apparent reason so I will look to refresh my handset soon.
The Optimus G is considered a more reliable phone over the Nexus 4 from what I've read. It also allows for storage beyond 16gb since the att version includes that on board and allows external storage also. There is a HD ask to allow for 16gb internal recognized which I have not yet performed. No issues with my phone but rare overheating which I remedy by turning off my phone for it to cool down for a few mins at best.

Does any one know any Idea? that can help me get more space?
I don't want powerd hub. I need something Small fits into my pockets?
Is there any Small Wiless hdd or something like that?
Please hep!
Well, you either buy the rumored 32 GB Nexus that is supposed to come out next month, maybe, or you could use cloud storage for your stuff, like dropbox.
you could also check this out. works for the galaxy nexus, nexus 7, and nexus 10, so I'm sure it'll work for the nexus 4 as well

Ah I see well this is a better explanation than the NO. I just didn't read well enough. Well tough luck, buddy. You're out of options then
Here is a better explanation of NO
the micro SD kickstarter you just linked is a small OTG device. Meaning it won't work with our nexus 4

Guys what about this one?
http://www.amazon.com/PQI-6W21-0000...9862&sr=8-10&keywords=PQI+Air+Drive:confused:
Again not feasible as it would not have any power required.
Those cards are designed for the likes of cameras where you don't have to plug into your PC to transfer files off it. As there is no SD slot on the nexus 4. You would require another device with an SD slot to power it

I was wondering if there is any thing like this
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1389517282&pf_rd_i=507846
But much smaller? so I can take it handy in my pocket
Morning all, Only got my nexus a month ago after being die hard Blackberry for a number of years, due to being usless with touch screens.
I work as an engineer in the printing industry and would love to be able to interact with our machines via USB.
We can use comands called "prescribe" on our machines, they will understand said comands if sent in a .txt file.
I have busy box, im all rooted. also have manny linux tools installed.
So I am looking for a command to ether send my .txt files from my phone via USB.
If I could enter sytax direct into terminal and then use a command to send as a .txt would be even better.
Any help would be much appreciated !
Shameless bump

you would need the usb OTG kernel and an external power adapter for the otg cable. If you have that I'm sure your linux magic tricks would make it work
The Nexus 4 doesn't support USB OTG (or any other Host Mode) as I understand.

It does. You need to supply the power yourself externally and a custom kernel.

I found it. I read it before. I don't want to root it ouya knows it needs more storage a firmware update would do the trick.

Then you have to wait for them to include this feature. But belive me this will take quite some time.

You wouldn't think so when storage is such a huge thing and the ouya really has no storage with the HD version of a bards tale at 4gd.

They've made it pretty clear it's not their priority. If you're not willing to get your hands dirty, that's pretty much the long and short of it right now.
Im also concerned about storage space but you will not get any official link2sd support anytime soon. So root or stick with it. Thats just the way it is.

I just seen on the Ouya forums where they said that USB Storage is "coming REAL REAL soon".
Nice.
I hope so.

Well, for what it's worth Bards Tale does support external storage. Just have a writable drive attached to the Ouya when you start BT for the first time and when it goes to download it's 4G of data it asks if you want it on the internal or external. I know it works because that's how I've got it installed. Just plugged in a FAT formatted drive and when I installed BT it offered to use it so I let it.
All i want is to be able to run apps and games straightly from the external USB... I have been reading alot and as far as I understand you can just read what's in the obb folder if you mount obb on your USB stick/drive with mount -o /sdcard/android/obb or whatever it was.
Where are all the apps installed on your internal sdcard and is it possible to do a similar mount to that too?
