And I was reading that OTG cable is not Supported -_-
16(12)GB is not enogh for me
Does any one know any Idea? that can help me get more space?
I don't want powerd hub. I need something Small fits into my pockets?
Is there any Small Wiless hdd or something like that?
Please hep!

Well, you either buy the rumored 32 GB Nexus that is supposed to come out next month, maybe, or you could use cloud storage for your stuff, like dropbox.

you could also check this out. works for the galaxy nexus, nexus 7, and nexus 10, so I'm sure it'll work for the nexus 4 as well

NO isn't exactly in depth on why this isn't a good option

Ah I see well this is a better explanation than the NO. I just didn't read well enough. Well tough luck, buddy. You're out of options then

Here is a better explanation of NO
the micro SD kickstarter you just linked is a small OTG device. Meaning it won't work with our nexus 4

Guys what about this one?

Again not feasible as it would not have any power required.
Those cards are designed for the likes of cameras where you don't have to plug into your PC to transfer files off it. As there is no SD slot on the nexus 4. You would require another device with an SD slot to power it

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1389517282&pf_rd_i=507846
But much smaller? so I can take it handy in my pocket

I think you're better off putting all media in the cloud, and only apps on the nexus. Then figure out how to use a usb stick during the times you might need your media offline. That was my plan with another tablet anyway, but I never actually needed to use my flash drive... In over a year... Its good to know it can be made available if you do need it though. I did use over 8gb space though, so I bought 16gb nexus. I am gifting the 8gb nexus to someone who uses a kindle fire without running out of room. The device you need depends entirely on your usage and availability of wifi or data tethering.

The first 2 GBs are taken up by Android and the file system. Not much you can do.

Hmm.... I only use nexus 7 for some hd games, surfing, YouTube. All my videos, music are already on my galaxy s2. I think I can live with 8gb

[Q] OTG cable, stick mount, nexus media importer

Can any of the lucky ones who received their nexus try using an otg cable ? Does the phone sense the pendrive or it needs the help of some secondary app such as stickmount, nexus media importer ...
Edit 1: It's not working! External power required though.
Haven't received the nex yet lol
It's not working for anyone at the moment I believe, 4.2 is broken the compability, Chainfire says there's hacks around it but not for a week or two.
Oh ok!

Lots of people have tried; no one has reported success. Take the comment about "hacks around it" with a large grain of salt; there are pretty strong indications, although not quite conclusive yet, I don't think, that the hardware just doesn't support USB host mode (the connector doesn't appear to supply the voltage needed to run a peripheral device).
Maybe if people star it, it'll show Google that people expected/wanted it, and hopefully if it's a software issue, then it'll get fixed faster.

I dont think its a hardware issue. The HTC One X with Sense 4.1 and ICS did not support the OTG cable. After the update to Sense 4+ and JB, One X has started supporting the OTG cable, pendrives upto 32 GB work like a charm. Its most probably a software issue
on the other hand, LG smartphones has never supported usb otg...
at least, none of their optimus line up hasn't yet
the problem may be on LG's fault
anyway, there is already a huge thread about this issue on this forum

Any Reason Why..

A Samsung external HD 500GB with OTG cable and stickmount pro works fine with my Nexus 7 yet on my Galaxy S3 it recognises the phone when OTG cable is plugged in yet I cannot see any of my music or files
Sorry not strictly a Nexus query but I do know that many on here also have a Galaxy S3 too, so might be of some assistance.
Cheers

I'll test it out on my wife's gs3 when she gets home from work and post the results.

I apologize. I forgot to try last night. Perhaps brain will function tonight.
OK, I gave it a try last night and the external hd (WD 750Gb) wasn't even seen by the S3.

Damn, this ain't good, it's so time consuming and tedious having to copy music from the external HDD to the Nexus 7, then upload it to Dropbox or Box then export it to the Galaxy S3, when I had my laptop this took minutes, now it's taking hours, im determined to find a way to get this working

MHL is hardware, not software, so it isn't possible. There has been talk of miracast, which is a wifi display device standard, but it sounds like that needs further research and developent to see if it works on the nexus 7, whether it be a hardware or software problem.

Using MultiROM with Nexus 4?

I've converted my Optimus G into a Nexus 4 and am wondering if anyone has tried to use MultiROM with their handset. Apparently it functions for the Nexus 7 with what limited knowledge I have in reading up on it. The reason I ask is because I'd ultimately like to run stock Android on some form along with Ubuntu Phone which has released is developer version to our phone recently, and this can be accomplished on the Nexus 7.
Should I even bother asking at this point I don't know, but figured its worth a shot as I love flashing roms whenever is convenient. I don't believe that Boot Manager in the play store is yet supported for the Nexus 4 at this point and if it were I doubt it would allow for ubuntu phone.

I don't have an answer for you, but how is your phone running since the conversion?

Because Optimus G is G+4, but Nexus 4 is just 4
It has ran just fine until the last month or so. Using an early cm 10.1 room with capacitive buttons and 8gb sd recognition. Lately my phone will randomly power off for no apparent reason so I will look to refresh my handset soon.
The Optimus G is considered a more reliable phone over the Nexus 4 from what I've read. It also allows for storage beyond 16gb since the att version includes that on board and allows external storage also. There is a HD ask to allow for 16gb internal recognized which I have not yet performed. No issues with my phone but rare overheating which I remedy by turning off my phone for it to cool down for a few mins at best.
