[Q] Dual Boot GB-ICS - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

I'm trying to use my GB ROM like the daily use OS and use for beta-test the ICS Roms for my U8800-51 (they're all unstable, like low wifi, low sound, etc.)
I tried with Bootmanager with no luck.. When i pick "Boot Rom" the device have to reboot, then start the ROM, but this never happens.
I'm open for ideas
Thanks.

The phone is incapable of dual booting. Only some devices have it.

No,The Ideos X5 series (u8800,u8800-51 and u8800pro) can turn to a multiboot device. I found how can we do this but I haven't enough time for translate the guide to English. I did a guide but it's Turkish;

my opinion
Tested it and i must say i was not impressed at all.If this is what ICS has to offer i must say i am disappointed. So i cant understand why all the fuss about it.i guess the final version will impress me.
sweet. It's working here on U8800. it's smooth enough for first release great work. thanks
Just so you know, Camera is listed twice in the Not Working section in the forst post

stuck at huawei logo.

i followed this stepto port miui v4 to u8800

and i used miui v4 from desire z and cm9 from u8800 but when i put all together i can install it from recovery without errors but when phone boots up stuck at huawei logo.
other roms(aurora,miui,...) works good so i think you might know where i failed?

because they are meant for cm try ones from swedish snow or the rom itself it is based on stock 2.3.5
Moved to General. Please post in the correct forum.
Cheers.
i installed SwedishSnow RLS7, but there is no sim working. No signal, not connected radio. When i switch to airplane mode ON, it becomes inactive and i cannot swich it off. When i recovered via cwm back to official 2.3.5 and tried to recover the boot from SS (because of unlocked kernel), it freezes at ZTE logo. So the official does not work with SS kernel. I am so unhappy

Currently in the GB stock rom the IMEI is present. Pigfish says Gen2 - sold with Froyo, thats true. I only want to use an oc kernel, not whole custom rom, because they are not fully localized. This phone uses my wife and she likes our native language. I use a huawei u8800pro and the speed difference is huge. I hope that 100 mhz up helps her a little bit.

[Q][U8800-51]what kind of custom roms could we use?

Dear Seniors,
I am New to the forum and using an ATT impulse 4g (u8800-51).
Just follow this thread to get the Aurora ICS. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889305
But I still have several questions about U8800-51
1. Now my phone is already in ICS, what kind of rom could I flash, U8800 or U8800 pro. Now my phone model show as U8800 pro after getting AURORA. I guess I should flash U8800pro roms but I am not sure.
2.How could I flash custom rom in ICS? just use CMW other phones? I did found a thread here about how to flash custom roms but it is for froyo ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601992 ).
3.My phone still could NOT use USB Mass storage or Even MTP with Aurora. I download the dirvers ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566393 ) but still don't know how to do.
I appreciate your time reading this and if your could point me at the right direction or even give me a link to the answers, it would be very helpful~~~
Thank you:laugh:

Hi laofan, i have a u8800-51 (sold in Brazil) with frozenpika10 v.1.6.0 (v. 1.6.1 is wifi broken for my model, so i stay in 1.6.0) - JB and its ok for now. The wifi is unstable, I don´t use 3G, so i don´t know about your use.
Answer for your questions:
1 - Only U8800pro rom is compatible.
2 - Yes, only use CWM. CWM Recovery 6.0.1.5 by Ivan
3 - Usb mass storage is ok in 1.6.0.

Hello,
I just bought the U8800-51 (Impulse 4G) for my wife and was wondering exactly the same as laofan.
You just install frozenpika10 v1.6.0 as per the instructions on ROM's post or you need to do something else for the celular radio to work? Frozenpika ROM does not say anywhere if it's compatible with U8800-51.

[Q] best roms

hi,
i want to ask who is the more stable roms for Ideos X5? (not the pro)
i want a stable and fast rom, and if it is possible not take all the battery.
for fast rom it is better to stay in android 2.3? or i can have and good results with 4.x?
the 4.x roms need more memory from the 2.3?
Thanks for any answer
You have here all you want, please take some time and read, all depend what do you want from your mobile, if you want play, or any navigate

Based on each version of Android:
Gingerbread - CM 7 ezet's rom
Ice Cream Sandwich- Aurora dzo's or AuroraSP (tweaked of Aurora)
Jelly Bean - CM 10 blefish's rom

in the past i have try this:
CyanogenMod 7.2 for Ideos X5 (u8800) by exet
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527745
and it is working but i want to try and newer roms.
So today i have try the AuroraSP.
I have recovery 5.0.2.8 (and i have try with 5.0.2.7)
I have make full wipe (data, cache, dalvik)
I have install AuroraSP V4R
but then in the boot screen i have see only the huawei logo. The rom not start.
I have do something wrong?
there is a problem to switch from ezet CM72 to auroraSP?
i have try to go and to Aurora ICS 4.0.4 v5 but the problem remain.

thanks for this, i have use ezet's CM 7.2 and it is good.
I have see that you have use AuroraSP (in your signature).
How about speed and battery about ezetCM7 and AuroraSP? it is similar or not?
Also you have any idea what is wrong in my previous post?
thanks a lot
Hello, first of all you should install official 2.3 gingerbread from Huawei and root it. After that you should be able to install aurora without problem.
There is a thread on the developer section on how to install and root official Rom.

Speed is better on Aurora that's for sure and about battery i don't remember well i don't have CM7 and haven't tried anymore more than 1 year but drains a little more if you use 2G and turn off Wifi and then you can save battery.
If must have GB on your phone after that you should install any other custom roms since from CM7 to CM 10 and of course Aurora too. Remember when update from different kernel please format system, data and cache with together all 3 wipes.
