Hi all, can't seem to find the answer anywhere, whats the situation with Google Wallet in the UK for Nexus 4?
From what I can tell it seems like it is available for other devices but not the Nex 4, is that right?

I've yet to see it as available for any stock unrooted device in the UK.
Yeah, as is often the way I found my answer shortly after posting. Is not available at all yet in the UK but Googles UK URL misleadingly uses the Google Wallet page from the USA site.
Hope it comes soon, think I'd use it quite a lot.

Using a UK debit card? Or just the usual pre paid that is now dead?

Finally! Just received reply from ALK that Australia / NZ maps are finally avaliable for purchase. Checked CoPilot Central and can see a Australiasia link now.
http://www.alk.eu.com/buynow/cart.asp?Action=AddItem&SKU=CP8-DIG-AUNZ-WEB
Edit: weird, the maps don't appear when logged into Central. it does show up if you're not logged in though.
Purchasing Copilot 8
How do you buy Copilot 8?
I contacted them and they said not sold in Au.
Maps are no good without CP
You click on that link I posted. That's the one the Copilot support person gave me when I asked the same question.
Oddly enough it seems you can't actually purchase via Central (yet)... as I said earlier the "Australiasia" map option disappears from the Copilot Store section as soon as you log in. Purchasing through the link I posted does indeed work however; I just bought and activiated my Copilot for Australia maps successfully last night
Just watch out for the key issue. I purchased the Au maps on Monday and found that the key was accepted by CoPilot but every time I closed it and re-opened I had to re-enter the key. Contacted support and they said that the key I had was the wrong one (for upgrades only) so they generated me a new one. Just be aware of that...
Do the maps cover the whole of AUS, not just the major centres?
Can you please check and see if places like Broome, Darwin and Karratha, Jabiru are in the AUS maps?
Finally!

For the locations you listed: yes, yes, yes and yes. I tested by punching in the locations into the route planner (starting with Broome). Total trip time from Broome => Jabiru via Darwin and Karratha was ~7100km, 101hrs

Thanks Mate.
I haven't used CP yet. The HD2 I purchased came with Garmin pre-installed with full AU maps and works perfect. I would like to read some feedback on CP though

Hi Lexx, Yes I checked for Broome and there was a listing of all the hotels that I know about in Broome. Seemed to know a bit about the place.

Great work AussieBum! I wasn't going to register mine until they'd officially released the maps. I'm usually a TomTom guy but I really quite like the way CoPilot looks/works on the HD2.
$100 for the upgrade version?
It's great that you're grabbing the Australian maps. If it was $30 (as i think they were offering for the UK) I might consider it, but $100 seems a bit steep... especially when my copy of CoPilot 7 (from my old TyTN II) works just fine.
Might try version 8 when I head to the UK next.
Updating the maps would be good though... was kinda annoying to have to use google maps to search for the Merthyr Bowls Club last weekend. Having the HD2's car kit system go for CoPilot 7 rather than 8 (as it does by default) would be good too.
Don't know if any of you are grinning like I am when you see a specialist GPS unit advertised that has a smaller screen than our phone
Still waiting for the Wm version software update which was supposed to come out at the same time as the new maps. Still waiting for the other lives services to come on-line such as live traffic updates
Does it work in the UK? Can't see how to use it?
Anyone got it working??
I doubt its running yet as Motorola Milestone still doesn't have it. Having said that, someone has managed to get it working on the Milestone using instructions from this site: http://jkkmobile.blogspot.com/2009/12/how-to-google-navigation-turn-by-turn.html
I bet you could use the same instructions to get it working on the N1
If google map works anywhere in the world, would'nt this navigation feature be just the same? So, out of the box, it will not work outside US?

I have tried this and it works on the Google Nexus One shipped to the UK. The only problem I have so far is that where | assume it shows the name of the street I am currently on it states "Unnamed Road". Apart from that, it seems to work although I have yet to try it properly as we have a lot of snow about and icy roads! When you zoom in, even the street-view works.
I can't imagine why Google have not enabled it for outside the USA with some sort of "beta" warning.
I have upgraded from a Hero and whilst I miss some of the HTC custom widgets, the Nexus has a beautiful display, the voice recognition is magic and an "official" navigator would be the icing on the cake for me.
apparantly there is some sort of licensing issue - google have an agreement with the people who provide map data in US but have struck the same deal overseas. They said last August that they would work on it...
There is a workaround that works for now (a previous loophole was closed by googles servers), albeit in a more limited capacity
Hello, I was wondering if there are any updates in regards to activating Google Wallet's NFC capabilities in the LG G2.
For a phone that has been released for a while it's a little surprising that there are little to no updates for this feature.
Any updates or news would be much appreciated.

Youd think for a company that works with google theyd have it by now but unfortunatly there is no news on it :/ google wallet isnt that big yet anyhow pretty much everybody and their mothers dont know what it is when i explain it to them, i dont think enough people use it to be updated on every device keep an eye out tho! but for now no luck
currently, i think the only way is to root your phone and flash a rom. an aosp rom allows google wallet to work. the stock rom does not.

Fair enough. However since the Sprint version of the G2 supports Google Wallet and the Sprint system dump has been uploaded isn't it possible to make it so Tap and Pay can work on other variants?
according to kitkat leaks, the new version of google wallet will not require a secure element. so it could possibly run on any phone

Hey guys.
Ive got a S5 and I am wanting to get contact-less payments working on it. Being from Australia Google Wallet naturally does not work and there are only 2 banks that have recently starting doing their own HCE.
So whats the best way to get Google Wallet (or other type of host card emulation) to work over here?
Thanks heaps everyone!

I believe Westpac and CBA have their "own" payment system, however, Google Wallet will not work here. I did read some obscure article about 8-12 weeks ago that Google are planning on introducing it here. But that's all I've heard.

There are threads about Google wallet fixes e.g. to make it work in Canada and some custom ROMs incorporate patched Google wallets as well. You can do a forum search for details.
.
I'm currently enrolled in the Android Beta program and running the most current Android version.
I also have the most recent Play Services version.
I have an unlocked 6P, purchased from the Google store in the US, but am now living overseas in Qatar.
I've read that Google Assistant will be available for my phone, but only to users in the US, UK, and Germany at first. Does anyone know 1.) If that will apply to my phone, and 2.) If so, is there any way to shortcut the geographical issue and receive the update like I was in the US?
Thanks for your help.

Hi... Try reading this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/how-to-force-enable-google-assistant-t3567560
There are also plenty of other threads over XDA or internet to force assistant. I think the downside is that you'll have to root your phone (at least temporarily to edit build.prop) to reach your goal.
Someone may correct me if I'm wrong. Good luck.

Yeah I was thinking rooting might be the next step....I used to root like crazy back in the Galaxy S2 days, but since Moto X and now 6P, I've been trying to embrace barebones stock Android.
Thanks for the tip.
