I have 2 issues with my Nexus 4. The first one seems to be pretty straight forward. The rear speaker is defective and distorts. The second issue I am having just confuses me. I have searched and searched and can't seem to find anyone with this issue. I am honestly not even sure what it is. Some sort of notification sound randomly going off. Check the video to see what I am talking about. Anyone else with this issue?
Just a quick note the phone has never been dropped, ect.
The sound you are hearing is the NFC chime. You have an RFID card in your wallet.
That sound is your N4 reading an NFC chip in one of the cards in your wallet. No idea about your speaker issue, mine doesn't seem to distort but I rarely have it at max volume.
Thanks a bunch. I will turn it off and see if it goes away. Seems strange though since my Galaxy Nexus has never done it.
RMA it

Anyone experience any issues with Nexus 10 and its mic? I tested google voice and video chat with couple different people and they all had hard time hearing me. I had to talk louder than usual or even almost scream for them to hear me. They're reporting it always sounds muffled or the audio cuts off.
The video feed is coming in fine and I know my network connection isn't an issue. Wondering if anyone else is having similar issue and whether I should contact Google for a replacement.
Thanks!
Edit: Seems like I was able to figure out the issue. I removed the back panel and tested it and the audio is coming through fine. It seems the cover isn't aligned properly over the mic hole. I contacted Google and am getting it replaced.

So does it work now? My friend has just got one and whenever he calls me on Google Hanouts, his audio works for a few seconds, then gets muffled and choppy - I can't understand him at all......
So I'm now on my second Nexus 7 (2013). The first was a standard 32gb Wifi model and now I'm using the 32gb LTE model. I didn't swap out my first one w/ this issue because I knew I was going to exchange it for the LTE model as soon as it was available. But now it's still a problem on the new one. I've read elsewhere that there's a buzzing/whining sound on the speakers at low volume but that's not what I'm experiencing.
If I plug my N7 into a set of speakers to play music (from Google Music or wherever), if nothing is playing, there is a very high pitched whine and buzzing sound. It only happens when there isn't a sound being played. If something is playing, it completely goes away. As soon as that song is done, it starts buzzing/whining again. Has anyone else experienced this? It happened on both of my tablets so I'm thinking hardware, but there doesn't seem to be any complaints on XDA...maybe I'm the only one who uses my tablet in this manner? I don't know.
TIA.
Actually... It happens on my PC, laptop, phone and tablet.
Just got my Oneplus Two yesterday and I'm really exciting over the phone.
Applied the tempered glass screen protector and started using the phone.
Some minor annoyance like echo-ing when using speaker mode which I'm fine with it since it can be fixed later on via a software patch.
But after some more playing, to my dismay, it seems like I might have a faulty set. (I don't see anyone complaining about it)
For me, when I plug in my JHAudio earphones and the phone is doing absolutely nothing, it is silent, as it should be. As soon as I swipe the phone, or there is any activity on the screen, there is this buzzing noise that is present until the activity stops. For example, when I swipe the phone, as the display is transitioning, there is this noise, after the transition has stopped, it returns back being relatively silent.
This is especially prominent when I'm opening a game with no background music. I can ear the buzzing / distortion-like sound present. Even when there is sound, I can still hear the buzzing. It seems like there is some interference present on.
Anyone else having similar issues?
I have experienced a similar issue when plugging the phone into my aux port in my car. I would get a really loud distorted audio sound when using Google play music the first couple of times I plugged in my phone, but I haven't experienced any distortions since. I have a feeling this is related to my other speaker phone problem.
Whenever I activate speaker phone during voice calls, I hear heavy distortion.

What did you do to get rid of it? The noise sounds like it is interference occurring.
I'm starting to regret getting the OP2. Should have waited longer and got the 5x or 6p
NFC was nearly a deal breaker and this. This "noise" .
The worse part is that I bought the set via a local distributor using the invite (it seems like there is some cooperation between oneplus and Lazada) so there is no "Order No." in my oneplus account and I can't create a ticket for it. Don't even know how to RMA it.
Also noticing this - it seems bizarre, but yes, something like opening the drawer or swiping across homescreens causes a tiny short static/interference noise when using headphones. Given the reports of OP customer service, I will probably put up with it rather than send the thing back, but doesn't mean a fix wouldn't be great if anyone finds one
Bumping this thread since it's completely related to my issue.
When nothing is moving on the screen, there is no buzzing/distortion/static noticable but the moment I touch my screen (or put my phone in or out of sleep mode) I hear this noise.
Keep in mind that it's not really loud so I only hear it when I am using my phone when it's completely quiet. (It's extremely annoying when watching the news or a movie at night).
EDIT: just decided that i'm returning the phone. Even after the invitation system you get a faulty phone. I really liked the phone but this experience just put me over the edge.
With my Oneplus X I have the same issue. It is highly annoying and I just submitted a ticket on this issue.
I was wondering if every phone has this problem (and that most people don't pay attention to it) or whether it is only in a subset of phones. If that's the case I might consider to RMA it.
Are there other people WITHOUT this problem?

Hi!
Did you figure out how to get rid of the static noise? I got it too and have tried everything to get rid of it but nothing worked

i had that problem too, if you go to sound and notification and then click other sounds, you can disable all these things like dial pad tones, touch sounds, etc, after i disabled those i didnt hear the static noise when moving around the home screen or then opening apps, however, i still hear the static noise when im watching a youtube video at a low volume at night or then listening to music, i havent figured out how to get rid of that problem
This is just an idea: did anybody try this with earbuds lacking a microphone (or buttons).
I tried some large high fidelity headphones and I did not hear anything, while I do hear it with my earbuds. This difference could be due to impedance differences, but it might also be the microphone which is attached to my earbuds.
Hi.
Anyone else noticing that the external speaker for S7 Edge giving out a slight robotic to certain voices?
I notice this while watching series on it, or youtube videos.
Already attempted to restart the phone in safe mode, but still the same.
I got the equalizer on standard. No other enabled options for the sound effects.
Since I got my device a few days ago, I might return it as this is really strange. My Note 3 didn't do anything like this.
Anyone at all?
i know exactly what you mean, i've noticed it too
it sounds like someone put an audio effect on it
as far as my knowledge goes, that's normal though, not hard to get used to honestly
Pitty that a phone of such price and being a flagship having such a "failed" external speaker.
Hello,
I recently got a Nexus 6P from a friend who took it for a thirty minute swim. He told me that if I could fix it, I could have it. After some work, I got it running at about 90%. The only issue is with audio. Absolutely no audio will play at all, unless its through Bluetooth. The headphone jack, and both speakers however, don't work. Whats weird is that apps behave strangely. Google Music skips songs endlessly. YouTube gives an odd error. The camera works. but when I switch to video, it says "cannot connect to camera". Audio recording gives a weird error. You get the idea
I've found other posts about similar issues, like this. https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/help/nexus-6p-audio-playback-error-app-t3476592 but his solution did not help.
It seems to me that the issue is somewhere in a loop between the camera, speakers, and microphones. The camera wouldn't affect most audio, so its not a likely cause. I have replaced the top speaker, but cannot find a 3.5mm jack replacement. I think the microphone is most likely the issue, but I'm not 100% sure.
If anyone has any ideas, I'm defiantly open to them, especially if you've ever worked on fixing one of these. I'd love to upgrade from my Nexus 6 (which I actually got from the same friend after he destroyed the screen on it...I'm looking forward to getting his Google Pixel once he breaks it next year  )
Thanks so much for any help!
Lucky the phone even turns on let alone apps not behaving properly lol. You could replace all the little components just plug and play. Might even fix the Google music issue but what's the point. Just a ticking time bomb once electronic gets submerged in water. ?

Not necessarily. If electricity had shorted something then the phone is pretty much screwed. It's been a few weeks since it happened and it's been running for about two with no new issues. The big issue with water is corrosion. But if it's cleaned off, the phone works like nothing ever happened.
Most of the components are on the main board, so unfortunately aren't able to be replaced, like the microphone. The ones that are, all seem to work just fine.
If I can get this issue figured out, the phone should work just fine!
No audio on Nexus 6p video record.

I had this problem and after searching I found a solution! Download Cinema FV-5 free or pro. From there you can go to settings---general and choose external mic, this immediately fixed my problem and audio no is crisp and clear. Do it's obviously a software issue in stock camera app. Love my Nexus 6p and am thrilled to shoot video with audio now.
I have the very same issue, but instead having my nexus 6p dived into water - I have had let know a akku change job from a "pro". Ever since I have no audio at all!
Even the same behavior with the video (camera) and the Google musik (keep skiping songs)....
Any ideas?

Sadly, I can't even run this app. It keeps no response.
