I've been running cm7.2 happily for a while now until jelly bean beckoned. I just put aokp milestone 1 and am immediately bowled over by the beauty of the latest android os. However, whereas I was getting a quadrant benchmark of 2400 with cm 7.2, now I get under 1000! The ui is smooth and buttery but the benchmarks suck. Has anyone else seen this? I'm considering cm10... How does that do on quadrant? Thanks for any information.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda app-developers app
Well to be honest who cares about benchmarks? They've never been an accurate representation of real world performance, and if it feels smooth then it's fine... I guess if a big number makes you feel better then to each his own, but I couldn't imagine going backwards from jelly bean now. CM10 is awesome, it just has a few minor differences to AOKP but it's really smooth so maybe it might bench better... but I don't know since I don't care about that stuff
Just ignore the benchmarks. Jelly Bean on the Fascinate (especially CM10) is faster than both Ice Cream Sandwich and Gingerbread roms.
Thanks guys.... Agree with that... No going back from jelly bean.

Thanks! As a matter of fact I just did that yesterday. Even better and smother and gives close to 1200 score on quadrant. Haven't found a single issue that bothers me! I also do the following for best performance:
1. Minfree memory killer set to optimum
2. Over clock to 1.2hgz
3. CPU governor set to smartassv2 and Zen
All of above with ROM toolbox.
Any other suggestions are welcome.

Need a rom to use! I've tried trigger and it wasn't as customizable. I'm currently using cyanogen. Way more customizable but is slower.... I want to use a rom that can get atlest a 20000 benchmark. With these I've only gotten about 13000 -15000. I still want a gingerbread look or above.

If your into experimenting Eugene is working on an ICS rom. It is still in Alpha but data works you can make calls receive text. Not recommended for daily use as the camera and GPS don't work as of yet, but if you don't mind being on the bleeding edge its an awesome start.
I found a ics miui and I'm gonna test it when I get home.

Thats the same theme I had on MIUI 2 days ago as well, its pretty sweet. I switched over to see what the progress was with the ICS rom but that theme and MIUI is very nice as well
I used to be a big benchmark dude, however ive found overclocking cant make up for bloat. Streamline, day to day use ill take snappy over speed, check cpu spy usage, you rarely use 1200 or 1300. the vibrant cpu is just working with what you loaded.
Right now I'm currently using this miui,I forget the name. Using a ice cream sandwich theme.clocked at 1.6 gigahertz. Getting a benchmark of 1760-20000

+1 Once I found out that you can cheat Quadrant benchmarks about a year ago, I never took much stock in them and have not posted any scores bc I agree with Tibbs, functionality and snappiness are where the payday is at. Anyone can pull a 2500-3000 on Quadrant with a few build.prop and egl edits but if you have constant FC's, then what is the point? I'm using Toxic8 OC'd at 1200 and pull 2100's but I never get FC's and it is a great daily driver.
This is still laughable to me. Still, quadrant was updated to work well with ICS. This is my score with cm7 gingerbread @1.440 ghz. Why am I above a galaxy nexus? Hmm..

My result with CM9 v2.1, T132-ICS-CM9 Kernel and CPU set to 200-1000 MHz, ondemand: 2257.
Of course the NS can't mess with an GN, but i'm still impressed how much performance you can gain with custom-roms and -kernels.
I'm running gingerbread deck and the matrix kernel with an overclock to 1.2...(not live oc) and got a score of sound 2966. Hopefully the official 4G build gets ics performance up a little more. I find it hard to believe my device on GB out preforms a galaxy nexus by so much...
Lol nice update like how they slapped a galaxy tab score with io hack at top to make this crap look legit.

That and there are themes for it =P... just messing but I prefer cm9 just because it seems to work smoother than aokp. I just didn't like aokp unstability and constant lock ups that I was experiencing. Nothing against it just wasn't my cup of tea.

At this moment, AOKP is better but CM9 has much more potential.

I Run CM7 but gotta give it to CM9 more supported
AOKP has been preforming wonderfully for me. Battery life is a big thing and AOKP seems to have an edge on my phone anyways.
I do like the fact that CM9 is more supported, but I will definitely agree with kenny that AOKP battery life is excellent. I don't have my screen on for more than an hour a day usually, so with the combination of that and the ability to disable data (where I work I get no 3G, eats my battery up) has provided me with more than ample battery life.
I really need to get back into development. Things now are WAY different than before; it seems like there is more of an opportunity to work on a variety of projects, which I like.

None of these Kangs would be possible without the CM9 team so big thanks to them. With that said AOKP is CM9 +, everything CM9 is and more except the missing 4G in the pulldown. The 4G widget needs to be used or turning it on in settings.

Sup guys, going to be making a comparison between different kernels running on different roms. I know that some of you are going to go on about how benchmarks don't mean anything, if that's you then simply disregard this post.
All roms will be tested with nothing except Gapps (not signed in), Titanium Backup and AnTuTu installed, TB and everything else will be closed before the benchmark.
3 benchmarks will be done, and I will post the average total score.
