I personally have been enjoying AOKP due to the incredible amount of *functional* customization options.
Just wanted to see what everyone is preferring nowadays!
Cm9. For me, it just works.

Cm9.. its stable.. just sayin. =]
That and there are themes for it =P... just messing but I prefer cm9 just because it seems to work smoother than aokp. I just didn't like aokp unstability and constant lock ups that I was experiencing. Nothing against it just wasn't my cup of tea.

At this moment, AOKP is better but CM9 has much more potential.
I run em both for about a week after each update, but battery life is more important to me than all that speed you kids like. AOKP for now.

I Run CM7 but gotta give it to CM9 more supported
AOKP has been preforming wonderfully for me. Battery life is a big thing and AOKP seems to have an edge on my phone anyways.
I do like the fact that CM9 is more supported, but I will definitely agree with kenny that AOKP battery life is excellent. I don't have my screen on for more than an hour a day usually, so with the combination of that and the ability to disable data (where I work I get no 3G, eats my battery up) has provided me with more than ample battery life.
I really need to get back into development. Things now are WAY different than before; it seems like there is more of an opportunity to work on a variety of projects, which I like.

AOKP for me.had an all day meeting at a location with horrible signal and I walked out with 60% battery left.at work where there's a tower half a mile down the road I can't go five hours without plugging my phone in our it's dead on CM9

I would say more, but sufficient to say: AOKP kicks ass. (CM9 also kicks ass, just for the record.)

None of these Kangs would be possible without the CM9 team so big thanks to them. With that said AOKP is CM9 +, everything CM9 is and more except the missing 4G in the pulldown. The 4G widget needs to be used or turning it on in settings.

absolutely!
Infact I am enjoying AOKP so much that I went and donated to all the devs involved, including the cm team.
Thanks to everyone who makes this amazing stuff possible!
AOKP. Although CM9 is just as good, AOKP just has something to it. Brand-name I guess.

Okay so i was wondering, Which Ics build do you guys prefer. As of right now the latest ics build for Decks is Pre-beta 9 and for Drew i think it's Alpha 1. But each have their differences and similarities. I honestly havent flashed Drew's p12 but i have flashed Deck's and let me tell you its an awesome rom. Its my favorite ics one out there. I just made this post to see what you guys here at Xda prefer and which one would rather use as your daily driver. Any comments or other rom suggestions are welcome.
Drews is now alpha. I've tried both an right now performance wise drews new one is a tad bit better for me although decks has more features

Yeah I know I flashed drew's a few hour ago and I'm seeing that it has less customization options. But I think I like decks a little more but there almost the same. But who knows well see future updates

Agreed. I thinks drews latest is smooth as buttah. In fact, swiping in drawer, I've accidentally slid thru 2 panels lol. But it has very little in customization. I really muss that from AOKP.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
I love the stability of drew's, and am currently running it (about 48 hours), but certainly miss the "System" section of Decks PB9 in the menu. That thing had so many customization options that the alpha version of Evervolv does not have (that toolbox app has so few options).
All-in-all, I think I'm gonna nandroid back over to PB9 soon.
Yeah thats what i dont really like about drew's. It has little customization. But other than that their both great ics roms.
But does anybody know what the function for Themes is in Deck's settings? Like i've always seen it there but it's always empty.

Exactly. Once again, NOBODY can tell you what the best rom for you is. Everyone has their own wants/needs, and not to mention the same rom will not run the same on every single device. Try a few roms, and find one you like, simple as that.
I use the Miks rom and it run flawlessly
I've been running nitrous for awhile now. The dev is extremely good at taking requests and keeping everyone updated on his progress.
Thanks a lot for the suggestions. I tried nitrous but the battery life blew dogs. I'm in SOS 1.9 ics I love ics are there any other good ics roms out there.

I'm partial to MikG 3.11 (or the latest). Stable, smooth, decent features and stays pretty updated.

Anything MIUI has been awesome for me...So customization & runs fast, everything works besides 4g but I cant get 4g in this area anyways...Plus the themes change up the look of your phone alot!! BTW Why is ICS Muiu running Mason kernel the best? Does GPS camera video ect work?? How do I get video or movies from my phone to work on my TV thru QQ player?
n00b-rom with tiamat 3.3.7 is the best rom around its so smooth and everything works
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
n00b-rom!?!
I am an OG Epic user, and the biggest (only?) complaint I had and have seen with our ICS ports is that the lack of battery life renders the phone unuseable. Is the same the case with the Evo? I see a lot of ICS roms and folks here seem to like it, but I've flashed the Evo's on my account with some roms lately that score unbelievable battery life so I'm hesitant to change.

I just think u are going to get a lot of opinions that don't really mean much in terms of if its the right rom for u

You can flash AOKP and CM9 back and forth without wiping your data (YMMV, at least I've never had a problem switching back and forth a dozen times or so). So keep both on your SD card and whenever you want to try the other just wipe your cache and dalvik and flash the other one. You'll be up and running in less than 5 minutes with all of your data intact.
The big difference is some customization stuff, lockscreens and notification drawer stuff. I like AOKP partially because I like having the lockscreen before my (work mandated) PIN since I got to within 1 accidental button click of wiping my phone while it was in my pocket having random incorrect pins being entered in.
Now that both are on 4.0.4 I dont notice a battery difference between them.

Exactly this. Battery's about the same, and it's very easy to switch between them (although make sure you're using a 3rd party launcher. AOKP will get rid of Trebuchet. I prefer Apex.)
AOKP has much more customization and updates in my opinion, however CM9 has more potential and awesome features AOKP won't have. Right now AOKP is better though.

If no one has mentioned it already (and I didn't see it) the FB contact intigration works on AOKP. The only nice thing about CM9 over AOKP is the 4G toggle in the status bar. IMO.

yes the latest aokp b40/ms6 and aokp Jelly Bean have a in-call volume settings menu that allows you to adjust mic gain/volume across speakerphone/earpiece/headset. Set the speaker phone mic gain around 12-13 and that will get rid of the echo. I believe its set to 26 by default.

Just to let everyone know both AOKP and CM9 are based off of the CM9 source as a starting point. As others have already said AOKP is more customize-able/configurable.
If you want a straight Nexus style experience go for CM9, if you want it to not be so stock Google, then go for AOKP.
You will not be disappointed in either one, they are both excellent!
Just for my personal opinion, I am an CM9 fan, and have been using CM since the version 3 days. I also like AOKP very much, but it is not quite that true stock android experience.
The one thing that keeps me on CM9 instead of AOKP are the notification toggles. Even after changing the settings in AOKP the toggles don't look quite as nice as in CM9. But then once I'm in CM9 I miss some other features. Just not enough to go back.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Yeah everyone pretty much replied to your question.
I prefer cm9 because its a smaller footprint on the system. Its a lighter rom and I can notice a speed difference between aokp and cm9. Aokp has A LOT of customization but seems a tiny bit slower and buggy from MY experience.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
I like both AOKP and CM9- they're great in their own ways.
AOKP has a few features I wish CM9 had (center clock, built-in MIUI-style battery bar, and the brightness slider) but otherwise they're close.
As many said, much of the work on AOKP was already done by CM9 contributors, as (unless I'm mistaken) AOKP basically forked from CM9, and continues to integrate code from it.
So as someone else said, if you want a Nexus-like experience, go with CM9, and if you want even more customization, go with AOKP.
Another nice feature on aokp is that you can set your service to switch from 3g to edge when the screen is off, which helps conserve a lot of battery
From my experience on the Nexus S, I find cm9 to feel a little smoother, faster and more stable while aokp has many many more bells and whistles. That being said, after using aokp for awhile I eventually switched back to cm9 for a more reliable experience.
