Hi,
Sammobile confirms JB for S2 on Jan 2013
Ref : http://www.sammobile.com/2012/12/18/android-4-1-2-updates-galaxy-s-ii-delayed/#.UNBJZ810F8s.twitter
Lets hope it..
They should probably postpone it to Feb or March and give some kind of ultra stable god firmware of the latest android release. Seriously. And maybe a few more leaks for xda, so members can find loopholes and bugs.(like the exynos vulnerability)

Hopefully some xda guys can fix the current problems sooner, they're good at that.
Did you know that when it is raining the rain touches the ground?
Guys is CM10.1 really worth trying I'm asking because I use my phone to take a lot of photos nit videos but mainly photos . Also GPS and all . I'm asking all this because the last time I tried CM9 few days back it still had the slow USB speed problem but that bug was not listed in the CM9 WIKI which was weird . And CM10.1 is listing only few bugs on its known bug list . Thanks for replying

What i know is that.....cm10.1 have project butter working ( what we call triple buffering ) but it requires some improvement (devs say) ,fm not supported and will be never because cyanogen dont, tv out will also be never fixed ( proprietry undocumented ) and rest others are gonna to be fixed soon.
But the main **** is that samsung is delaying their release schedule, when nexuses are running on 4.2 we are still hoping for 4.1 ,yet we tasted pure aosp 4.1 but partially cooked ( blame to samsung coz no sources no work ). So i m really thankful teamhacksung who are miles ahead from crapsung.

We already have JB since months now... What's the point it get Sammie crap? Touchwiz BS? It won't even help the devs to provide us more stable aosp...

IMHO picture quality is OK comparing to samsung rom. If it's as good as stock, you have to try and check yourself, many things depends on your personal taste. Can't tell you anything about games 'cos I'm not a player. Glitches occurs here and there, but only if you are doing something in background. Overall performance is better with CM, and it is more responsive, but as I said you have to see yourself.

I looked up the known problems for it, and decided that I still wanted to try CM10.1 but not lose stock.
I installed Syiah Kernel, which let's you do dual-boot. So now I have both CM10.1 and my stock ICS on my phone. You can switch between them at boot and choose which you you'd like to you're primary ROM. So you could try that and play with CM to see if you'd like to keep it around

i quite like the stock JB rom, if the leak is anything to go by, i've been on custom rom's since i got my S2 so this is my first experience with touch-wiz and in JB its actually nice. i used CM10 for a long time but not got any real interest in changing my rom to try out CM10.1

Hey Guys
So as the title say pretty much is there anyone that can point me in the right direction, Im not looking for an app launcher to install on an existing rom Im looking for a rom based on the latest european release XXLPQ that has the AOSP interface so pretty much the Nexus Rom I guess but only for the SGSII.
Is there a rom already out there, or one being worked on that anyone can give me any info on ?
Cheers guys as always much love to you all x

Is that what there currently working on ?

I think you're looking for a rom like Bezke's.
I gave his a try and (at the moment) it's too unstable to be used for more than a few hours, so maybe later.
I'm currently on CM9, and other than a non-functional (recording) camera and hdmi out, I'm quite pleased.
Is that a nightly build ? Does it have the Aosp interface ? Its starting to look like that's what im looking for

Too unstable? You mean Bezkes AOKP rom? Its been nothing but solid for me. It has all the same shortcomings as CM9 until we get kernel source.
So all the above have what im looking for right ?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
What you're looking for doesn't exist, some roms add aosp apps but its still not a full aosp experience.
Cm9/aokp will give you what you want but some phone functions don't work properly, like video recording and possibly other little things.
You're being too picky imo, there's plenty of roms that look aosp'ish, give them a try.
Lol thanks for the help so from what you say cm9 will be what I want when its complete, so by knowing what I want isn't really picky as its being developed due to what I can only presume as demand for the same thing by others. I guess Will try an early build of that.

Try
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1533837&page=6
Just about as close to AOSP as you are going to get (It is a fork of CM9 so all same issues)
Honestly, if you don't need video recording or video playback - although I think/hope the already existing fix will be applied to one of the next Nightlies of CM9 - try the Nightlies.
I was running CheckRom HD V6, but because all my friends here switched to CM9 and I saw how stable it was, I gave it a try and I'm very satisfied with it. Battery life is about as good as the CheckRom ROM and I didn't encounter an app that didn't work with CM9 right now - besides the Chrome Beta which is a buggy mess for CM9 users.
OK wish me look im going to give CM9 a shot right here we go
From what your asking PureICS is the one you described your interested in.
OP states Is a Samsung Rom with tw dependent apps removed/replaced and the left over asop themed.
Cm9 is a ground up build waiting for Samsung kernel sources to shake out any Samsung left in it.

Yeah I'm back to CM7. I was amazed at how well CM10 worked at first but the annoyances started piled up until I figured it just wasn't worth it. I'll wait till it's fully functional.
On the plus side, CM10 made me realize that Camera ICS is a great app even for CM7, that I don't need the Facebook app, and that some sites that use Flash serve non-Flash videos when you disable Flash.
Patience grasshoppas, once ICS gets released this quarter, then we will all have JB via CM10...

Only reason I'm on CM7 still is because I have to tether my Nexus 7 and tethering doesn't work without the source being released. At least Jelly Bean is phenomenal on the Nexus 7
ICS is good but JB is much better. No doubt everyone will fall in love with it.
Does CM10 work well with Google Maps? I was tired of in CM9 with the latest version of Maps having it always having the maps go blank and have to reset the app. Even with older version of Maps it crapped out a lot. I went back to CM 7.2, as I have a constant need for Maps while traveling abroad.
Other than that issue, ICS was super smooth for me other than a few games that didn't play nice. Really want to go back, and JB looks amazing!

It's more like using generic/hacked drivers rather than no drivers at all. Without *any* drivers at all, we wouldn't be able to get it running this smooth. Of course it's not ideal. That's why it's labelled as a beta. If you need all of your phone's features, stick with GB.

It's not left behind. Motorola is currently developing ICS for this phone. Once we have that it will be easy to port fully working ICS/JB roms.

There are ninghtly, firmware updated daily and therefore possibly unstable, but they develop stops ("freeze") and start the release candidate and finally reaches a stable ROM. This was more or less up to now the procedure for CyanogenMod, but now the team has announced a new feature: the monthly build.
As can be imagined firmware is released on a monthly basis, after a "soft freeze" of the code done in order to stabilize the code more than the daily nightly.
Dedicated to those who do not want to flash a ROM every other day and the next also, the monthly will be available at the beginning of each new month but initially cover only a subset of all devices supported by CyanogenMod. Specifically, the first release of the M-series

I don't know about the current nightly but the "M1" version is awfully slow in comparison with Paranoid Android 2.0. I have even tried it with Air kernel (+65fps) which is one of the fastest kernels and Matr1x. I returned to PA 2.0.
I don't think that there is a serious reason for a monthly version. Nightly versions are very reliable in my experience...someone just have to choose his own "frequency of updating"...
I hope that we are not many "Ms" away from the RC or stable release! They'll have to speed up that ROM though.

I think something that many people forget is that not all phones are lucky enough to have AOSP support. I only have my Nexus S but I imagine that CM10 is not bugless and magical for all the devices it's built for.

Video is recoreded with high speed camera, 100 frames per second, resolution 640x480. In video you can see that display updates produce some "flickering" effects. That's because Super AMOLED use 60fps refresh rate and video is recored with much more frames per second.

Lolz dude u targetted the only thing in samsung jb rom thats like really smooth vs cm...now dont get me wrong m a sammy fan..runin li8 maself but u should really try comparing opening animation inside settings app for example..sound..display..about phone..damn u dont even need a high tech camera to see how much their transition lag..apart from that nice work mate!

Let's be clear.
ANIMATION is just ANIMATION. All animations are 2 time smoother on XXDLI8, but when you click "Sound" in settings for example, Samsung ROM loading a lot of stuffs and it takes 1-2 seconds, than phone show perfectly smooth ANIMATION. So, animation smoothness is better, but everything else is slow on Samsung Jelly Bean leaks. Like I say, I am big fun of CyanogenMod and I waiting for an build that will have smooth animations like Samsung ROM and I will never back to Samsung.
BTW.
I installed CM9 + Jelly Bean Animation MOD and everything is almost smooth like Samsung JB...
i dont see any big difference in this comparison.

??? I see a very clear difference... there's a very obvious double stutter with the cm10 based ROM which isnt anywhere near ad bad on the Sammy based ROM.

Ah crap - and here I taught the CM10 builds already contain the JB features. Will then have to wait or even go back to stock as the animation makes a large amount up for (perceived) user experience. Makes me even doubt more why even going through the hassle of going custom ROM. A person losses just too many native features for a little bit of performance gain, and depending on usage, battery life. What a shame as I do enjoy the minimal app approach but if a premium phone's capability are cut I would have rather gotten a cheaper phone which is supported by CM10 or stay with fully functioning stock ROM.
Great post, non biased reporting and extremely informative. There is no way that the info you presented can be taken out of context, misinterpreted or downplayed. Hope it makes some positive ways
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Eh? Shouldn't the Samsung rom have more animations since touchwiz is heavier with animations? What do you think skins are? They don't add less animation on purpose or take away animations from stock, that is just retarded. It is the increased amount of frames that make skins slower than AOSP.
In slow mo tests skins should always >>>>>>>>>>>> CM10 and AOSP.
In speed tests it would be the other way around.
So in theory, Sense 4.0 would win this slo mo test easily with their ridiculous amounts of 3D animations and weather animations that make everything stutter and slow when it chugs. Just that it would look good in slo mo because it wouldn't be fast enough to notice the stutter. LOL
Cm10 isn't as smooth as the sammy. From what I saw at least!!

All of them resemble stock. They're all themed the same, it's just a matter of added features while maintaining the same look as stock.
I don't get what you're trying to get at op. It's not like s3 roms where everybody is trying to theme their rom. A lot of roms on n4 aren't themed, some are but most are left it's holo look.

I guess... From a stability point of view... To be as stable as the stock.
I've ran cm10.1 and cm10...Along with some other aokp roms on my s3 before and of course it's not as stable as the stock tw rom.

All the ROMs should be very stable since they are all based on the same AOSP code. This is very different from a non-Nexus phone where custom ROMs might be less stable.

Don't want to create new thread so will ask here as I'm also coming from S3...
Are the any major bugs with CM rom? With the S3, Picassa sync and Bluetooth didn't work...I'm assuming with the N4 everything should be more or less 100%?

Well the difference is that this is NEXUS device and is AOSP supported. So 99.9% of the ROMs that come out for this phone are stable. They're not stable on the S3 for AOKP/CM right away because they have to actually do work to make it work; whereas, N4 is AOSP supported and its like.. BAM! it works out of the box. As for S3, the phone ships out with TouchWiz. Going from TouchWiz to AOSP requires work to make everything work.
I'd say CM/AOKP are pretty stable overall. All ROMs are stable. This is one of the many benefits of having a Nexus device and I don't believe in when people are wanting to upgrade and people say "oh just get a S3.. it doesnt have latest but just flash a custom rom and you'll be on latest android) no it doesn't work that way just because of like what you said... instablity. When Android 5.0 (Key Lime Pie) comes out, N4 will be one of the first devices to launch with it and we'll have the most stable ROM day one without having to rework code to make all the functionalities like calling, 3G/4G, WiFi, Bluetooth, Screen Rotation, Data, etc to work (I know on other phones, people release dirty ROMs and things like what I listed don't work as of yet until its fixed)
Shopping for a ROM/Kernel is like shopping for a car. Some tips to take,
1) Browse the original and android dev forums. Search around and look for whats interesting.
2) Find it interesting? Read OP post and the past 6-7 posts (dont even read it.. skim through it for feedback)
3) Like what you see? Check for screenshots or even a YouTube video
4) Still like it? Flash it and try it
and most of all, ENJOY.

Great reply... awesome, makes a lot more sense now. Thank you. I can't wait til my N4 arrives : )))
I've been reading at other threads about people complaining about quick battery drain and the screen not looking too good... I hope that isn't the case with me.. but I'm pretty sure a custom rom and kernel can fix all of that.

Quick battery drain. Hmmmm, you will probably notice that battery won't be good until at least 2-3 charge cycles. Why?
1. You just got the phone, obviously you're going to be playing with the phone. Downloading apps, changing settings, setting up your home screen etc.
2. It takes time for the phone to get its charging cycle.
3. Stock kernel has the msm wakelock. Fixed in a future OTA.
Screen looks great. I don't have any problems. But yes you are right, custom kernel does fix #3 and you can alter your colors until it satisfy your eyes. Stock values are good enough for me. It looks A LOT better than Samsung's Super AMOLED, I came from a Galaxy Nexus.
