dont ask me about, the "battery usage" on settings ~~

Yes it's there.
Get avast mobile security.
After installing go to application management then in top right corner choose arrange by cpu/memory etc. there are 4 options.
Choose by cpu and it will so you the cpu usage.

battery drain identifier

Hi,
Is there an application that detect which program is consuming the battery more?
Not possible
You'd have to switch on each process individually and measure the increase in battery drain. Apps can only read the total drain.

does cpu usage(like the ones in task managers) mean more drain? i'm thinking in the line of logging the cpu usage, configurable in 3, 5, 10 secs interval, at the least the top 3 would give us an idea.
Possibly
The major user is the screen obviously, but something like MemMaid would give you the CPU major users I think.

checking MemMaid now...
does it follow the more memory, the more battery drain?

Alternatives To Task/App/Ram Killers????

Many people say it's harmful using app killers, especially on android as it may interfere with important system resources or close important system files and can do harmful damage in the longrun such as errors, things not working, etc...
When you open various programs such as file manager, picture gallery, etc you then see a list of all running programs in system/task manager.
Many of these running programs are ones you have recently used and are draining ram/cpu/battery.
Is there not ANY safe app to use that will ONLY close apps that YOU have used?
There must be some app out there that closes/kills open apps, not system or phone apps but only the ones you have installed and used?
This could be a ram killer or maybe a simple app which is not dangerous and will safely close running apps not needed.
Looking forwards to seeing what others recommend.
Thanks in advance guys,,,

yes, there are, but android just restarts them after they have been closed (froyo only)

Names please of a good app that kills ONLY programs you open, not system files.
What if I was to install an appkiller, but instead of having it on autokill, I was to manually click apps I opened and kill them?
Surely this way there is no danger as I'm only closing selected apps, not system files?

The point is, even after killing your own apps, most of the time froyo will restart them
I very much like ES' offerings - ES File Explorer and ES Task Manager. They're both free, give em a birl.
You can install Advanced Task Killer (free) and there you can perfectly select which apps to close and which not... still I rarely use it
for example your homescreen widgets are always unchecked when killing tasks, so unless you check them, they won't be killed...
Hmmm, ok.
What is the BEST way to preserve & save battery/cpu & free up as much ram as possible without harming/interfering with the phone??
When I used to use the task killer app it would consistently give me around 400-424mb free ram.
Without the app killer I would only have around 100mb of free ram since all the programs are running in the backround.
So to all you experts out there, what can I do or what options do I have in which I can safely free up as much ram as possible and safely close running apps not needed when not using the phone?
I just want the best and most effective way to make my battery last longer.
I'm having to charge my phone every day, it struggles to get through the day even when hardly used.
Looking forwards to hearing some expert opinions based on the above.

There's definitely a problem there but you're not going to find it chasing free ram. I have approx 20Mb free ram at the moment, the phone hasn't been rebooted for at least a week but I'm easily getting through 2 days with light use. Task killers / app killers are not the answer, (in froyo at least) free ram is wasted ram.
The programs that are 'running' in the background are not actually using CPU resources unless they have a service running (see the eBay app/service for an example). Your best bet is to check the running services (settings/applications/running services) and battery usage to work out what process is hogging the CPU time. Also check your sync settings, though I'd imagine you've already tried that.

Maybe it's the anipet fish aquarium live screensaver...
Systempanel is good, I use it to stop a bad app thats using to much memory..you should never kill your apps with froyo, the OS wasn't designed like that, thats the whole point of Android, it looks after the apps perfectly well by itself, systempanel is just there as a....just in case method.
Saving battery power is a common misconception, Task killers actually get in the way of Android handling memory management as intended.....a pointless app to have with 2.2 which actually drains you battery quicker.
The LCD screen is the biggest drain on battery power, turning the brightness down, stop using a live wallpaper, turn off wifi, bluetooth, GPS ect....
With all that said the 1250mah battery is just not powerful enough to run this device period...but then most of us knew this before we bought the phone..we needed a 2000mah battery really, its just a lipo battery and can be easily increased, maybe next year we will see an improvement in the new smartphones.

i thought that it will work with us
i try a program called juice defender {in market} but with no effect
use task killer, set auto kill on safe + on "screen off"
also disable wifi when not using, and only use your phone when u are called xD

OMG don't use any of the task killer apps. They are waking the device periodically - eating CPU cycles just to kill apps that are sleeping (not using CPU cycles) or will be reloaded by the system anyway.
To improve battery life:
- Disable auto syncing
- Disable wifi/3G when not used
- Set screen brightness to low
- Check battery usage and disable/remove apps eating too much juice
- DO NOT OVERCLOCK!

I totally agree with you, and of course waiting for the NAND versions will cut it short. well, can you please tell me how to know that the device is overclocked, is it in the cmd line or something??

overclocked known in startup txt in the root of your memory card {no program needed just the startup} you can find in attached files what you want just replace what you want with the file startup in your memory card

How do you save your battery from draining

As all our custom roms are in devlopment there is still battery draining issue but i found a some ways to maximise the battery
1 setcpu
use setcpu and set minimum frequency to 128 in stock rom it is set as 245 so change it also i think some of us dont know the profile function in setcpu i have set as when the screen turns off the cpu should run on minimum frequency ie 128
2 titanium backup
use this app to freeze some of the application that starts automatically on startup
you can also use diffrent freezing apps that are available in the market i use this app
3 cyanogenmod settings
in the performance setting disable all the options ie use of jit compiler , surface dithering etc and also set VM heap size to 24 or 16 belive me or not this is not affecting the performance to much extent still i am getting quadrant score greater than 1000
4 use of 3g
with diffrent experiments i have learnt that wifi consumes more battery than 3g i
am also not sure this is true or not
this are some of the setting you can use to increase your battery you can also
use automatic task killer, decrease brightness, turnoff background sync, disabling live wallpaper, use of 2g connections etc etc.
with this setting i am able to save my battery for more than a day
also guys tell me what you do to save your battery
if you like my post pls thank
Its a shame that the battery capacity is too low in these phones. Anyways this is what I do to extend the battery:
1. Use auto-brightness (in froyobread ROM)
2. Use automatic data disabling applications
3. Only 1 application gets internet connection for auto-sync when phone is idle (so the other ones can use that gap to sync too)
That's all.... you may want to set your account auto-sync off... but that's no good if you rely in gmail, google calendar, etc...
I have read somewhere that task killers "kill" the battery!
Don't use them! You'd better use apps like Fast reboot!
And about titanium backup..
Freeze (or delete) the Email.apk not Gmail.apk.
Also the Maps.apk if you don't need it!

Advanced Task Killer does that on my x8.
I use some tips from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=726381
and use powermax from the market.
in my experience,in the night my battery 40% left i let my data traffic turned off and 2g only network, i let the music played with phone speaker 50% volume.
im falling a sleep, and in the morning i still hear the music and the battery 8% left.
i use froyobread

[Q] Increasing memory and battery

I've been using my play for a few months and I notice the battery sometimes goes down extremely fast,i also noticed that my free ram is getting smaller and smaller...
I have a rooted phone on 4.0.A,but i need help with freezing,or deleting some system files, since I don't know which ones take up ram and waste battery.
So these are some apps i cant(or dont want to) turn off in advanced task killer:
Available memory: 120M
Swiftkey x ☒
Make Your Clock Widget ☒
Advanced task killer free ☒
Circle Battery Widget ☒
Mobile Counter ☒
Extended Controls ☒
Music ☑
Play On Device ☑
So do you guys have any suggestions

Don't use advanced task killer, and don't kill tasks. Just let the phone run itself and manage its own memory. You are actually making your battery worse by using it because it just re-opens that stuff anyway. When you run an app it clears enough space for it to run. Theres an article if you search here that explains it way better than I can.

I do believe there are lists in the DEV section and in the other sections of confirmed Okay to freeze/remove apps.
