Cracks in the aluminum. Just noticed today that my phone has cracks in the aluminum, i have never dropped the device and have had a Silicon cover on it.
I called the reseller and they want to send it to samsung, but that's gonna take like 2-3 weeks And samsung said that the warranty is gone, cus i have rooted it, but it has nothing to do with the software.
Anyone else that have seen this?

From CF-Root 6.4 thread:
How to uninstall
This is by no means an extensive guide for unrooting, but if you want to sell or warranty your device, I advise the following procedure:
- Use Triangle Away to reset the flash counters, and pull the battery immediately after rebooting starts
- Boot into recovery and perform a wipe, and pull the battery immediately after rebooting starts
- Go to SamMobile and get the stock firmware for your region
- Flash that stock firmware on your device
- Let Android boot, go through device setup (without doing any logins) until Android is fully usable again
- Reboot
- Wait at least 10 minutes
- Check Settings->About device->Status and make sure Device status is not "Modified"
- Perform another factory reset
- Boot into download mode and make sure the flash counter and system status are all set to official
Some of these steps may require further info, if you can't figure it out, do some more searching, or ask people who aren't me

Interesting... It does not look like a crack but a precise vertical cut.
Oh for God's sake this is like the 50th thread about this! And it's not a cut these phones do crack.

Sorry, i did try to search, but the search function seams to be broken?
I honestly don't know what to do, flash stock and send it to repair or just live with is :/
One it does look like a cut from the picture but visual inspection may show a crack .
What will Samsung say crack or cut when they look at it .
But you do say cracks not one crack .
Two removing traces of root is easy and returns phone to a warranty state .
So do you want to remove root return the phone and get it back in a few weeks saying not warranty its damaged .
In that respect could you not get a local store to just look at the crack first to confirm it is and save wasting time .
jje
I have one of these too!
I have vertical CUTS at all 4 corners, where they smooshed together the pieces. There is no space between the two sides of the cut, and you can't even feel it, but it's there and visible if you look for it. My phone has been dropped a fair amount, but the cuts were there the day I got it.
"Don't worry about it" is my advice.
* BTW, yours is definitely a crack. I still just wouldn't worry about it.
I have one on the bottom right corner too. And it looks more like a joint than a crack

Don't listen to the others telling you nit to worry. If you haven't dropped it get on to the place of purchase asap. I made the mistake of not doing that and dented my phone a little after so I'm out of luck. It will split all the way through soon. The ones in the four corners r normal.

Should send back to Samsung but they say I drop it cost £100 to replace

Wwwhaaaaat!!! These phones do whaaaaaaaaaaaaattt!!!
---------- Post added at 03:48 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:45 AM ----------
These cracks appears in white phone only?!
Have the blue and all 4 corners have the crack. Not sure if this is consider normal! Been looking at high res photos of the phone and they aren't there, so question is how is this normal?! I will go to samsung monday and check this.
I did drop my phone. Samsung are say the cracks are from the phone been dropped.
I think it's from the over heating problem the phone got.

I was playing a game with my nexus plugged in, and randomly in the middle of it, the whole screen flashed yellow purple and black horizontal lines. As soon as I unplugged it, it stopped and the device shut off. It was a bit hot, but I assumed the game was just working the device hard. I'm not overclocking at all, and though the device has cooled down, it still won't turn on. Any idea what happened?

The battery is not easily removable. To illustrate why see iFixit.
I think your tablet was at low lvl of battery, mine crashed 2 days ago and after chargrd, turns on fine
Just leave it plugged in for awhile than turn on

the papers in my box had warranty information, but it was not the warranty itself.
The warranty is 12 months, and if it was bought via Google Play, I have heard reports that you must have an order number in order to get your N7 serviced. I'm not sure if it's true or not.
Worst case scenario, call up Asus, give the the Serial Number [located in Settings->About->Status, also located on the clear sticker that shipped with the N7 next to the speaker grill], they will see it was purchased less than a year ago, and should set up an RMA for you. You do however have to pay S/H fees to ship it to Asus, but they ship it back free.
I received my Nexus 10 in the mail today (I thought I would never get off of work!) and when I opened the shipping package I noticed the actual Nexus box with the stickers on it saying "If this seal is broken, do not accept", the seals were in fact, broken. A bit disappointed, I figured since they were already tore I might as well look inside. Everything inside looks completely perfect and doesn't seem to be tampered with at all. As you see in my signature, it hasn't stopped me from using it (and loving it!) but I was just curious to know if anyone else had this happen. The tears aren't clean, and actually look like they could have occurred during shipping (that's what I'm telling myself anyways), but I've kept all the static wrapping on the device for the time being in case an issue comes up I can report the broken seal on arrival...hopefully their support doesn't read this thread. Haha.

It sucks that it happened to you too, but I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'll let support know and they'll probably ignore it, but we'll see. I don't plan on returning it unless I have issues, and I'm not seeing any yet.

I got two from walmart, both with something similar. One sticker on both looked like it was perforated, almost torn, while the other sides sticker was fine. Both from different Walmarts.
First one had dust under the screen so I returned it and got the other. It was fine otherwise. No issues so far with the second.

Thanks for all of the feedback. It makes me feel better about my stickers being torn. My device is working well for the time being so I'm not going to concern myself with the error in packaging.

Got my new LG G2 on Thursday - enjoying things so far, no complaints... Except I looked under status, and my phone says "Rooting status: Rooted"... Anyone else experience that?
I haven't tried to do anything to it (yet), aside from accepting the OTA update... The only other curveball so far was that activation took awhile, the SIM it came with didn't match the order paperwork, and I had to figure that out for myself...
Looking for everyone's thoughts and/or guidance about what to do... On the one hand, I might root it myself once I am certain I am keeping it. On the other hand, I am worried what would happen if the phone develops issues and I needed to return it or whatnot..
Send it back asap and tell then the phone is used and how you know it's used.

Yea it's a restock at a non corporate store...somebody paid the 35 bucks to get VZN to wipe and put back in the box. That's why they won't let you leave without a screen protector. ..or at least keep suggesting one till you say sure now stfu

Tell them you'll keep it, but you know it was a return, so you want a partial refund.
Glad you got a restocked phone....Raise all hell and get a new phone.
Did your phone have all the plastic on it when you unboxed it? Should have been 2 on the metal outer ring. One around the camera. One over the back buttons. Front.back. and bottom of back. (Last one is some type of retail sticker or something. Didn't really read it. Just ripped it off and threw it out)

Sure didn't look like a restock. Had all the plastic: front, back, 2x along the sides, camera, buttons... I ordered it online and it was shipped to me; wouldn't that reduce chances it was a restock, or am i missing something...?
Not on the same phone, but I had a gnote 2 that came pre-bootloader unlocked. No screen cracks, nothing. It was sweet.

hmm. maybe they are preping a pre-rooted one for vzw? LOL ... who am i kidding. they would never do that.
Just after the phone was released, someone else posted that their phone said that it was rooted as well. If you're going to root anyway, I wouldn't worry about it. If not, you may want to exchange it (unless you want to revert to stock yourself - there's a thread that tells how to do that too).
Edit: here's the thread I was talking about. Read from post #20.
hi all,
I've just purchased an LG g2, everything is fine but upon reading the warranty conditions I've found out that the (European, in this case) warranty is considered void if the serial number becomes illegible or damaged. The thing is that the serial number on the rear of the phone seems already quite damageable, half of the sticker is already gone (imei and serial number are still perfectly legible though). Am I missing something here? I don't think the SN on the box would suffice in case I needed to avail myself of the warranty, is that right? sorry but it's my first device so maybe I'm making a blunder here
thank you
I am worried about the very same thing. Mine also started to scrape off I know somebody on here who simply peeled it off and saved it in the box. I don't know.
Sent from my LG-D802 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
wouldn't the removal of the sticker be considered an alteration? I was considering sticking a piece of invisible wrap on it but it all really seems absurd to me
I guess that removing it and sending it along with the phone would be ok after all?
Yes, I thought the very same thing, hence the 'I don't know' in my previous post. I think that's the best idea. I was kinda surprised to see it already started fading despite the fact that I have a case on the phone. Funny thing is, according to Danish law it is prohibited to put on a sticker/anything that is warranty related, that can't last the entire warranty period without fading with normal usage.
Sent from my LG-D802 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
on some other threads I'm reading of people with other devices peeling it off right away and keeping it in the box; it's got to have its importance since without it I suppose it would be impossible to prove it's the legit phone you're sending (I don't think there's a SN inside the phone too), the question is whether keeping it in the box or on the phone is the same thing, hope there's someone here who knows for sure
I can't find it in the hidden menu nor in the 4636 menu
