PLEASE READ: Sticky proposal/review thread - XPERIA X8 General

Hi.
As you may see I'm in a bit different role right now. I am a member of X8 community since January 2011 and many things changed since that time.
The main goal of this thread is to review all stickies in the sub-fora, because most of them is outdated and/or have invalid links. I need your help to do that
Please post your proposals and we will discuss them and hopefully make a new stickies. Also I encourage you to create a comprehensive unbricking guide, which can replace good old Graveir's one

I don't mean to be a thanks-whore but some members will just post Thanks instead of clicking Thanks. Can I make a sticky on that, please?

I was thinking about such thread. One big thread about behavior, like mf2112 did would be perfect to transform n00bs into newcomers If you're ready to pick up the gauntlet, go ahead

I'll start ASAP. Thanks.
SpyderX had already created a thread like that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736078

That's true, but it doesn't contain all necessary informations.

What else do you want added?

I'm not requesting anything. Just add everything, that you'll find important.

Okay. I will do it later. Gotta study for my exams now.

I can write an unbricking tutorial and anything because i'm sorted of bored on hotel room.No event today

I have made a thread of must have apps.
If it is stickied it will help many users.
Here is the thread.

Rooting with 2.3.4
How to: Not from me but from another site. Just getting the info out.
You did not have to be rooted or have S-Off To do this. If you had it rooted and your S is off you have less steps to do. (How to check if your S is on or off is pull your battery on your phone and press the power and volume down button at the same time. HBOOT should pop up and at the top it will tell you if your S is on or off. [most people rooted before have their S off])
Hope This Helps All Of You!,

Dedicated guide/how to section?

Mods, I propose that we have a new section in this (and I suppose in other forums too) especially dedicated for guides and how-to's. This way we can organize a one-stop-shop for all the great tutorials out there!
Generally important threads like how to are always found in stickies

I know, but recently, some of them, including my lengthy guide about AT&T functionality, have been bumped off. If they're all put in their own section, it makes it a lot easier to find than to go fishing through the masses.

Last time I looked at the Wiki, it was more like a link farm to posts and threads. I was going to have a go my self, but it looks like that is what a contributor has to do (make a thread or post, put a link on the wiki). Its not very cohesive, hence my not making any input, couldn't see the point.

Lots of drilling required. Mods more interested in giving some guys a tap on the wrist rather than actually looking at why some folk make mistakes, or reflecting on some of the ridicules statements they sometimes make.
xda is not well organised? mods are inefficient?
Well, what you guys have done to make it better? Time spent on complaining, might have been better used on something constructive, even if it was guiding some lost soul through the maze of useless threads...
or starting a how-to thread, in the spirit of OP's suggestion

Sorry if I might have offended you in any way, frustration got over me for a while, somehow the Note forum becomes full of whining, complaining, gossip and panic instead of place for helping each other.

i9000 Awards - make suggestions for the winners!

Hey guys,
just came up with the idea that we could found the 'i9000 Awards'.
It works like that: in polls, we look for the most polite user/the dev with the most innovative ideas/the most used ROM/...
The award would be a nice signature banner or something else.
1. no best ROM/kernel/whatever discussion
2. show respect
3. don't spam the thread
Look at second post now and suggest possible winners. The suggested guys can later be voted in polls.
Here are the topics:
1. most used FroYo ROM
2. most used GB ROM
3. most used ICS ROM
4. most used FroYo kernel
5. most used GB kernel
6. most used ICS kernel
7. dev with the most innovative ideas
8. most polite guy
9. most helpful guy
10. biggest troll
11. most famous dev
Also remember back to the time when you still used FroYo ROMs, and vote for your favorite.
Now you can make suggestions on each prize: who should win?
You can also suggest more topics.
Pls don´t suggest someone twice. You´ll see who´s suggested in this post.
Best troll? got ya!

Here are a few categories I thought of:
most polite user
best troll
most helpful user
dev with most innovative ideas
most active user(only in i9000 forum)
dev of most used ROM(GB/ICS)
dev of most used kernel(GB/ICS)
More ideas are welcome
[/ON-TOPIC]
This is sure nice event for sgs thread. Sometimes we need to enjoy and not just read rom/kernel thread, wrong section thread, spam comment and ultra noob comment who just asking without searching
How about award for
-Most famous dev in Sgs thread

Yes, we can add this . I think we'll need a poll site, as it would take a while with xda polls if we let each poll run for at least a week.

Let's see... the idea was to give users/devs something back for their efforts for our device. But maybe as special award...

I don't know why you tell us that . So you like the idea?
maybe you should only refer the dev name and not what is he doing (rom/kernel) because people may arguing of or flaming about which rom is the best.
:good/s:when this gonna start?
Pawitp and Stratosk get my vote!

I think we shouldn't mix everything together. But let's see. It'll start when there's enough interest. Then I'll ask Yorzua if he can make some nice signature banners for the winners. After that, you can make suggestions for the users/devs we take into the polls, and then it'll start.

I thought you wouldn't...... There are three stadiums:
1. Collecting topics for awards
2. Making suggestions for the winner
3. Vote for your favorites.
We're currently in the first . To make it fair for the devs/users that already changed device, I think there will be separate polls for GB/FroYo/ICS. I'll post my first ideas tomorrow.

Loving this phone!

Hey guys, recently moved to this phone from the HOX+. As I've researched before, the only negative I can see is the burnt out pixel that is very very tiny in the left hand corner of my screen. It doesn't bother me. I had to go through 3 devices to finally get one that didn't bug me so much, but hey, what are you gonna do, right? I'm an assistant manager here at RadioShack in town and I've seen on the two I've sold that they both had the same problem. Oh well, I say it's still an awesome phone. I have no rooted or unlocked the phone because I feel there is no need yet. The stock ROM is already fantastic and battery power is amazing, too. Just wanted to post this and ask what kind of apps you all are running and get some suggestions on how to make this device EVEN better. Thanks!
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
Welcome, had mine for a couple days. It is perfect. By far the best phone I have ever had. Even my iphone loving manager said that she is considering moving to this phone. She said it is beautiful. Re the apps, I think I saw a post in the themes section that had a list of the best apps. Give it a look.

This is a forum. A place for discussion. Why close a thread that's discussing things out?
People who always think they know everything and refer every thread he posts to "use the search button" & "google knows it" would kill xda itself due to reducing the pageviews/lesser income in ads.

I know right? I see one guy ask a simple question and 20 guys jump on his thread trying to explain (in very lengthy replies) how its a waste of bandwidth to ask the same questions over and over again and to learn to use the search button..
So we get a thread with 22 people , the OP, 20 idiots raging and 1 guy answering the OP's question.
Well anyways, I just simply wanted to ask about some cool stuff for the One. Seriously, amazing phone. So can anyone give me some tips or anything that works good with the phone? Anything in general? Instead of arguing with so called geniuses (when in all reality, it's just a phone) all day who wanna close the forum because it somehow doesn't meet their "standards". Thanks guys! Just really wanted to know more about the phone!

Nice to hear you're learning lots.
Just some friendly advice, please some time soon read the rules so you understand how and where to post and when to create threads, correct posting saves the moderators a lot of hard work and prevents you getting flamed.
Really you should have posted this in the general forum/general thread which is always welcoming apart from some grumpy old gits like me ....joking aside, if everyone plays their part the forum is much easier to use and find information on.
All the best....the moderators will probably lock this thread,, so read the rules and help them out
