[Q] P5110 swap internal external sdcard memory - Galaxy Tab 2 General

I have searched these forums for an appropriate script/flash able ROM or specific advice on how to get my Tab 2 to swap the internal memory (sdcard) with my ext sdcard. I have found similar requests for the P31xx series. Can anyone help me or guide me thru the process because I'm floundering in a sea of contradictory advice.

The thread right below your's is the one I am using on a 5113 10.1". Be sure to read and understand how it works. For one thing the Android folder files will need to be moved. It would be best if you have a Nandroid backup in case it doesn't go well for you. I have been using the one for the 3113 for about a month or so now.

There are a few posts around this topic. Here's a fairly generic solution with a boot script that will do the trick.

[Q] Newbs Q's for Stock HD2 running 2.2 from SD.

I have a stock HD2 running Blue Topia from a class 10 SD card on Tmo in the US. Is there a way to upgrade the "radios" without rooting? Will that help low / no signal in a few locations. Everything works great except in those locations. A new My Touch has better signal in those locations. I don't know if that's hardware or software though?
Is there a benefit Rooting my HD2 & running Android from internal memory instead of the SD card? The SD seems plenty fast to me? Also does Clockwork Mod have any use when running from the SD?
Lastly what is Nand? Is that different from "rooted"?
Thank you very much for putting up with & answering all my Newb Q's

Best radio in my opinion for low signals is 2.15.50.14
Running from internal memory has speed advantages.. android loads way faster and is more responsive in my opinion.... also sd cards do get messed up from all the garbage files that end up being put there and that leads to problems with them and the only solution is reformating them all over
NAND is the way all phones run when originally purchased running from phones internal memory
Rooting your phone means giving yourself root, or superuser access, giving you access to system files and the ability to change things that normally are marked read only itallows you to change all kinds of things that normally you wouldn't be able to, along with install custom versions of Android.

Cut him a break these terms can be confusing to new users.
If you want to update or change your radio you simply re flash it in Windows like you did the first time. I am not sure if this will solve reception issues. It's worth a shot. Please let us know how it goes.
Rooting is not the same as NAND. Rooting refers to giving the user total access to change hidden files in the system of the phone. Blue topia is already rooted.
NAND refers to flashing an Android ROM directly to the phones memory, thereby making it a native Android phone (allowing you to use SD card for apps and such).
I don't think clockwork mod has any use on RAM builds.
Please read and search before posting questions, as these have been answered before.

My apologies for posting in the wrong place. Anyone who knows far more then I can move this to the right place, Or delete it if you wish. I did try searching for my answers before posting these questions. But I know about as much about navigating this website as I do about Radios, Nand & Rooting & was unable to find the answers to my questions. If someone can put links in here to those other answers they would be very helpful.

Where would I find that radio? If you could give me a link I would be grateful. (edit: I found the radio thread) One of the other posts said to replace the radio in Win MO 6.5? If I'm running Blue Topia from a SD card, Does the Blue Topia have the radio software? Or is it using the Radio software from Win mo 6.5?
The other thing I have learned since this original post is that the loss of signal is a lot more often then 1st thought. Before noticing this problem I loaded Gingerbread onto my SD card (I copy things back & forth PC to SD & a backup of last known good Blue Topia) Ran it for a short time then loaded my backup copy of Blue Topia back on the SD. Wiping it clean each time but not reformatting it. That's when I started noticing signal problems after trying Gingerbread. I don't know if the 2 are related?

If I'm happy with the responsiveness? Is that the only reason to run it internally? Other then the garbage files. & won't the garbage files just end up on the internal memory? Also won't having a last known good on the PC help me dump those garbage files?
Thank you very much for all your help

You can partition using minitools partition wizard. And then you can use Kyrillos' App2SD v2 script to move apps to SD.
Any links for Kyrillos App2SD Script?
i don't think you can use app2sd as it needs a kernel that supports init.d scripts... Stock kernel doesn't so all you can do is:
1) switch to a modded kernel
2) download app2sd app (or somethink similar) from market to move apps to sd
However, i suggest to wait for someone wih more knowledge to answer.
thanks a lot..

[Q] Install CUstom rom without external SD

Hi Guys its been a long time since I visited the forum since Xperia X1 came out basicly! ok my question is quite simple since I didnt seem to find it in the forum I figured I should ask! Is it possible to install a custom rom on Ideos X5 without and actual external SD card? since I just got my hands on the phone and havent yet bought one!
Thanks in Advance
Regards,
It is possible, the partition table must be changed and it should work.
I actually wanted to add this option to my recovery, but I am trying to fix a bug first.
Sent from my U8800 using Tapatalk
buy an sd
i would suggest you to go out and buy an sd card its not that expensive anyway 15 euros 8gb because you should really make a backup of your current rom because if anything goes wrong you are gonna really need it has saved me many times, trust me dont hurry things.
CLICK THANKS if you find this useful.

Ace Think Tank [Noob friendly - softbricks, bootloops, edify, etc]

If you are serious about Android then be prepared to read - that is the one thing which will separate you from the average user.
To get you started you will need to know a few basics before you can start contributing to a community which has dedicated themselves in bringing better Operating Systems (Roms) to our phones. By knowing these basic steps you will be able to help iron out bugs from whatever Rom you have decided to keep on your phone and thus, improving your own user experience.
If you are completely new to this then you should read Glevitan's Starter Guide. It contains everything you need to know and it is a mandatory prerequisite before you can post in this thread seaking help.
Now that you have read and understood some of the terminology and how to recover from possible issues, you can root your phone with the A high-level DHD/Inspire manual S-OFF hack concept for advanced users [NOTE: The AAHK HAS BEEN RETIRED FOR NOOBS. IT IS FOR ADVANCE USERS ONLY. REFER TO THIS STICKY INSTEAD [How to] ROOT without the Hack Kit] Even if you do encounter issues, knowing the terminology, what you did and what went wrong will help communicating your issue so we can find a way to solve it. If you read the starter guide you should know that we don't recommend using HTC dev to unlock your bootloader. However, if you did go this route you can read this helpful guide: [NOOB] Flashing a custom ROM & getting it to boot IF bootloader is htcdev unlocked. And finally, our own resident and esteemed Glevitan is working on a tool to make it easier for you all. [ROOT] [TOOL] Easy Ace Root Tool
After having spent some time in the XDA threads reading a lot more than what you should post, you will have realized that almost any question you could possibly think about has already been asked over a dozen times and why so many emphasize the importance of searching for your answer first. You would also come to realize what are the benefits of setting up ADB. Among one of ADB (Android debug Bridge - [GUIDE] ADB - Usage, Tips, Tricks and More! and [GUIDE]ADB Workshop and Guide for everyone) uses is creating logcats. These logcats help developers finding what is causing a bug and how to fix it. This is a quick [Tutorial] How To Logcat. However, this quick tutorial will only help you get started. Keep in mind that apps like aLogcat or Catlog could shorten important output from the log. Another one: Learn to logcat like a Pro!
To be able to help developers create a better user experience for us, we need to create a bug report. The reason why we first need to search the forum is to avoid confusing the developer by cluttering the thread with repeated reports, of bugs and questions which as mentioned earlier, most likely have already been asked. To have a better understanding of the different instances we can create logs, then have a look at: [TUT]Report a bug I do believe this can not be emphasized enough and thus, what better way than reading it from existz own words.

ABSTRACT
The present document pretends to guide the noobs and not so noobs in their flashing / modding / theming way. It covers what the team thought is the basic stuff you should be in knowledge of and may be the most helpful. Any suggestions about the contents or stuff that you think should be included are welcomed, just let us know.
Guide Index
1.Basic Stuff: In this section you will find the common language that is related to Android / HTC Ace devices. This is fundamental for you to understand how things work.
2.Rooting: THIS IS OUT OF SERVICE...CHECK THE UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER TOOL IN PARAGRAPH 4
3.Fixing a messed bootloader: You are not good at listening advices or reading for comprehension. You flashed a froyo RUU or hboot in your GB shipped device? Thank God attn1 was around. This is the Hboot fix for you. All credits go for the Hack Kit Channel devs. I have not done anything but put it here
4.HTCDEV tool: So far, this is the best and only way to do the flashing stuff....
5.Unrooting: In case you need to take your phone to the service centre or lost your mind and want the stock rom back (is there anybody that actually does? :cyclops ) you will find everything you need to know here.
6.Flashing roms: The right steps to flash successfully a custom rom…you can´t miss it. If you do, then you haven´t read carefully.
7.Doing / Restoring a nandroid backup: In case you mess it or you don't like what you get on a new rom, a nand backup is what will save your A**. Follow the path and you will see the light at the end of the tunnel.
8.Radio / RILs: All the radio / RILs related issues, follow this or you will regret it!!
9.Kernels: Everything you always wanted to know about kernels but you didn't dare to ask. Links on line now..:silly:
10.Trouble shooting: I guess this will be the most visited section of the guide. OF COURSE YOU DIDN´T READ THE ABOVE. NOW YOU ARE HERE BUDDY FIX YOURSELF A GOOD READ
11.Customization: For those who would like to start customizing your devices, here you will find a good point of start but THIS IS JUST THE BEGUINNING [/QUOTE]
12.Battery drain issues: I HAVE FLASHED A NEW ROM AND MY BATTERY IS DRAINING WAY TO FASSSSSST!. Well that could be normal, just read and learn before you run out of battery...lol

FAQ & Notice
FAQ :
What Is the Best Battery,Performance GB/ICS/JB ROM?
There is no best ROM, the opinion of each ROM is different from one person to the other, it is subjective.
Is there a recommended Radio for ROM x?
There isn't a recommended radio for any ROM, since the Radio depends where you live, it is best to test each one for a few days to see which one works best for you.
Can I Flash RIL For AOSP ROM?
No, the RIL is sense based ROM,AOSP RIL is provided in the ROM
How Can I Boot in Recovery/Bootloader if My Volume Rocker is Broken?
You must setup adb and then the command:
adb reboot recovery/bootloader
Why Don't We Have Any OFFICIAL CM9 ROM?
Because the CM team always makes everything work (camera, camcorder, etc) and since we don't have the kernel 3.0 source, there isn't any OFFICIAL CM ROM from them.
Is There Any Official Rooted Sense 3.0 ROM?
Yes, There it is
Notice when Posting On the Dev Thread :
Please Read the First Post, It Usually Stated What's Working and Not Working
Don't Post Any THANKS, just use the thanks button
Don't Even Ask ETA of the ROM, the ROM will update when it's ready
Full Wipe Is Recommended when Updating the ROM, but also can try it without (this is basic, even if it's not stated on 1st post)
ADB is easy, very simple to use. Its the CLI interface that most cannot get used to and are afraid of.
A great XDA guide/overview on ADB here. --> [GUIDE] ADB - Usage, Tips, Tricks and More!
After a full wipe including sd card, to restore a backup mount sd card to pc, create the folder "clockworkmod/backup" place backup there - unmount, flash.
Is there a way to flash a backup using adb? If yes, do the folders need to be created or not and what would the command be? I couldn't find an answer for that.
Edit: Answer is no. Why? I have no clue.

ok, before sending the file via PM, I can answer you...there's no choice of restoring a backup from adb. That is the same as flashing a Custom Rom....those files are packed in a certain way that won't be possible to be flashed in hboot (PD98IMG.zip) way.

Thanks bub, so no can do. I don't believe in 'no can do's
Did you read my question about the hboot interface in the other thread? This, and the above question is simply a language (which I know absolutely nothing about) - there must be a way to get them talking to each other.

Can you look through the ones I posted to see which are good and if there are any ones that are repetitive or if there are better ones than the ones I posted? Greets to all
Greets to all from another noob. Well, not a complete noob but a noob here on XDA given my few posts. My deep thanks for allowing a thread where sometimes there just might not be such a thing as a stupid question but honest ones instead,.... Hoping I can contribute something here as an owner of a softbank DHD here in Kyoto, Japan aka the 001HT. I spend alot of time trying to dig up general info from all over the i'net to help answer questions especially for ACE owners so I hope that might be of some help. Grant Barker's homepage is a great resource, (hope its allowed to mention that~). My first minor contribution------ 64GB MicroSD card usage with the DHD. It may already be well-known but for all us noobs who aren't too sure make no mistake..... I have the SanDisk Class 10 64GB MicroSD card and it works flawlessly in my DHD. Since I like to pack lots of MP3's and several full-length HD movies into my handset (helps keep the kids quiet on long drives ) being able to have that much storage space is a blessing! So, just to reiterate, 64GB microSD card--- no problems!

First of all, hello to everyone, I've been a big fan of this site since the very start I found it out and it sure helped me alot in my android experiences and adventures. So.. Thank You All, for these great efforts and information you'll are providing in order to help people and make phones more pleasant to use.
'This is the first time I'm posting on XDA bc I need help with something:
I have recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S 4 (i9505 model). I'm from Netherland btw and also bought my S4 here.
Before my S4 I was using a HTC DHD, which I screwed around alot with, like installing custom ROM's provided here and other stuff. I don't know if some options on Android phones are phone specific or not. But on my DHD i always could move apps from internal memory to my SD Card and otherwise, which i can't on my S4. This is like the last thing I need to do on my S4, bc I got a 16 GB model (9 or so useable) and I got only 3 GB left while I have a Ext. SD Card of 32 GB (30 useable) and only used 1,5 GB of it.
'This feels like having a beautifull hot girlfriend, but not being able to do anything nice with it, if you know what I mean..
I don't know where, but I once read it's possible to merge internal and external to 1 storage, like combining 2 partitions to 1 or making a RAID partition out of 2 different storages on phones. Is there anyone who can help me exactly with what I need please?
Thanks in advance.

The new software update thats allready rolling out will allow apps 2 sd card feature, it has arrived to some countries already maybe you should check your OTA or kies update. Or else you can flash it yourself manually .

Well, I've already installed the update from KIES right away after I've got my phone, my Android version is 4.2.2. So, I should be able to move my apps to my sd card, but can't? Don't / Can't find a option "move (app) to sd card", have checked abbout all settings on my S4.. =(

what is your build number? is it like XXUBMEA?
Anyway what i do is go to settings, app manager, swipe to the right to find 'all' where all your apps is located, then click on an app and find "move to SD card"

Update to XXUBMEA. It provides App2sd support but I think you can only move the app, not its data.
