New Asus Transformer TF300T owner!!! - Transformer TF300T General

Hi All,
I just traded my Nokia Booklet 3G for an Asus Transformer TF300T, which will be a replacement for my Nokia Booklet and B&N Nook Color.
I wanted to say "Hi" to the community.
I'm not sure if the mod for this group will delete this post, like the mod at the B&N Nook Color, but heck, I want to say "Hi" anyway cause I'm very excited about the device and can't wait to receive it. (It's in transit... 8hrs... it feels sooooo long!)
Have a great weekend everyone!
I'm about to start my reading on this forum to get acquainted with the device so I can enjoy it as soon as it gets here!
Woooohoooo! Very excited!!!
Cheers!
Arnel

Welcome. This is a great place to read up and learn about your tablet. I just bought mine a couple weeks ago and love it. See you around.

Welcome, and you're going to love the heck out of that tablet. I've had mine for a little over a month and I can't put it down.

Wow!!! This thing is fast!!!
Now, the only confusing part about this is the whole keyboard thingy-ma-jig. It's not a laptop, so is it really useable?

I use mine with the keyboard dock all day at work for emails and web browsing and it works great in my opinion. It also charges the tablet so I end the work day with my tablet nearly fully charged and use just the tablet at home for media/light browsing.

ahhh... ok, will try that to see if it works for me.

hello am going to buy a tablet but not sure which 1 to get need some coments
acer iconia a500 or asus transformer thanks
The iPad.
*Iconia DUH*
in what way
1) Iconia is available
2) USB port without buying an expensive keyboard
3) better build quality
4) lots of other bullet points which others can feel free to expand upon
Newegg has the 32gb Transformer in stock. $50 more than the A500, though. If you don't care about the optional $150 keyboard, I think the A500 is better because of the better build and full sized USB port.

I'm not sure why another thread such as this is needed. However, since you asked, I'd say go with the Acer.....keeping in mind that this is an Iconia forum. The USB port is very handy. The Asus with the dock becomes a net book. So, I'm at a meeting and a coworker hands me a flash drive to upload some files to. With the Acer I just plug it in. With the Asus ill need to get out the dock (net book) and attach to upload the files. I purchased the Iconia to replace my laptop, giving my backpack a smaller, lighter profile. Just my .02

it depends on your demand.
acer ,it has a standard usb port .
asus, has a better screen .
if you need type lots of words ,the keyboard is necessary.
Yay for the 100th thread asking this question!

Agreed even though I screwed mine up when I first rooted & removed stuff I shouldn't of. I've been to busy to fix it & afraid I'll really mess things up. Bottom line, I love this beast. I'm one of those nuts that research things to the point of driving myself crazy. A500 is the best hands down.
.... and if you go to the Transformer section and ask exactly the same question, don't be too surprised to get exactly the opposite answer!
There are pluses and minuses to both tablets - you pays your money and you takes your choice!
Regards,
Dave
Here's a post on reddit where tons of people are having problems with Asus hardware and customer support:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/hpvph/asus_transformer_owners_are_you_having_any_issues/
Haven't seen anything like this about Acer users, and there have been something like 1 million Iconia a500 tablets sold.
asus support sucks
There is a Asus repair facility less the 4 miles from where I live.I had a web can issue with a Dee PC netbook. They told me online I could drop it off to be repaired. When I got over there I was standing in there office area looking thru the glass and could see repair areas. They would not accept my email told me I had to mail it to to them by Ups.I paid 14.00 to ship a product 4 miles from my home.then took them 5 weeks tobget it back to me.
Never would I ever buy another Asus product.I called and complained and was told that they would talk to the people at the repair facility.
Lame lame lame
The fact that the OP go to an Acer specific forum and posted the question takes some nerve...
@OP
if someone were to visit YOUR house and posed the question of... which is better ? your house or the one down the street ?... what do you think YOUR reaction might be ?

Iconia A500...
coz I tested others... didn't feel anything better in my hand than Iconia...
even my love Samsung GT 10.1.... I felt like OMG it's damn light...going to broke easyliy and what that sluuuuuugggisssshhh honeycomb on it.... really so disapointed.... so sad as well coz the price was quite good just 3000THB for the 16GB model with 3G against my 32Gb Iconia... with USB and tethering my Liquid Metal for 3G... hu
I think it comes down to preference. Screen on the Transformer is what sold me. Also the fact that it's thinner and lighter. Unfortunately, I am aware of the QC issues with it and I'm hoping I get a good one. It's available on Amazon for $399 with no tax and free shipping. There was a -$40 off offer if approved for their Amazon Visa credit card, too. Applied in less than 2 minutes and now I paid $359.00 for it.
If it turns out to have a lot of bad issues, I'll consider the a500. The weight and bulk of it kind of turn me off, however.
If there's one thing I will feel like I'm missing out on, though, it would be that oh-so-handy USB port.
Can the webmaster please delete the search-function of this forum.

Relax. Take a breath. Play nice. Thank you.

Just got my new B70 from Best Buy

I took my 32Gb Galaxy tab today and asked the sales guy if he'd check the Transformer serial numbers for me. They had a bunch of B50's, a B60, and one B70, so I took it home.
My last Transformer was a B60, and I was more than happy with the screen and the non-creekyness of it, however, my buddy tempted me with the weight of the Galaxy 10.1. Needless to say, the greatness wore off after a couple days and an extra $200.
The B70 came out of the box with even greater quality than my first. The unit feels very solid, no squishy parts, very little (basically unnoticeable light bleed, and the ui on 3.2 feels incredible responsive even without my near standard 200-400MHz over-clock.
I have a new case on the way from Amazon, and I'm on the lookout for a dock to show up locally. I can say that since I started this tablet search, that I've been the happiest with the Transformer. The only 9.7/10.1" tab I haven't tried yet is the Thrive, and that little unit has issues.... Like crazy ex-girlfriend issues.
I'm looking forward to seeing what our lovely devs can put together for 3.2. Can't wait to get my CWM on.
Long live the Transformer.

Its the first 3 letters of the serial number and hence its manufacture date
Most people call them B40, B50, B60 and now B70 but the 3rd character is actually an O not a zero. I just call them by the first 2 characters but to each his own...

...........What until to tomorrow? i got a now 32 micro class 10 (and yes i tested it it's a 10) and a 32 SD in dock on a 32 GB TF! 32GB+32GB+32GB= How i fill that thing up with stuff. 96GB of storage. ( before some smart-ass comes and said: "But they never 32GB only 31.87GB") We all know that. THX Anyhow cant wait to pick it up tomorrow and put bunch of "720p" movies on that thing (ok here another one" Why not 1080p Mr. German???") Because the internal memory, micro SD and the SD dock slot don't have the data transfer rate to support 1080p movies. You still be able to watch 1080p over WIFI though.
Mr. Race fanatic (see above comment ) and myself tested that.

Love mine! It actually is BETTER than I thought it would be!
you have a return window...
try it out and be your own judge.
what you gonna do? wait for the package and not open it?
Tip of the day... Think for yourself.
The majority of people bashing the TF bash their cell phones, their tvs, their computers and just about every other expensive piece of hardware they invest in because it doesn't wipe their ass and make their morning coffee.
I love mine more than anything else i own, other than my Camaro of course lol. I just found an app called sixaxis controller that lets me use a ps3 controller to play games and even navigate the launcher via bluetooth!
I just got mine and am happy with it.
I "bash" mine because it does have problems, but other than those I love the device. The only real problem that mattered to me was when it decided it didn't want to charge anymore.
All devices have problems. My ipad2 had screen bleed and restricted. The transformer has some screen bleed but is awesome. Be sure to pick up a tablet keyboard like thumb keyboard or swiftkeyX. Really man typing a breeze while holding the tablet.

It's a great device and very capable. If you don't get the QC issues the device is great and I think you'll enjoy it.
For most of the QC issues you'll know right from the beginning. For some like dying speakers nobody can really tell when that will occur. You probably shouldn't consider creaking a defect either, keep that in mind.
The majority of the people here that bash the device probably do so due the QC, not the actual device itself. It's very capable and well designed, it's just the execution was somewhat poor and the QC suffered as a result.
So you should just try it out like another poster said. You might find it so good that you don't want to return it.
Yeh i think that is probaly best, has.there been many qc issues?

Wow!!! You just nailed!!!!
The new generation are people like a crying whining baby with no patience. They just want everything to work instantly, perfectly and bugs fixed immediately.
Is the transformer perfect? Nope, but I can live with it and enjoy what I have instead of complaining about it everyday.
lightbleed? is there, not affecting my use whatsoever.
batter drain? fixed already. I don't have battery issue anymore. Lost about 2% overnight.
keyboard browser lag? Annoying, but I am patiently waiting for a fix. it's useable, but ya, people can't wait a second these days. They will be so angry and wanna throw the tablet against the wall or keep posting Epic fail in every asus update thread.
netflix? don't care at all. i can root it if I really want it.
flash video lag? fixed already.
Lack of apps? I beleive it will get better. There werent many apps when i had my iphone1.
Circle mouse? I actually like it more than the arrow cursor. People made it such a big deal.
Did I miss anything that people were bashing? Seriously, just try to enjoy it and have a little patience.

For those who considering XOOM better build? Think again....
Google Lots of XOOM got creaks/cracks of the back, loose in buttons and back plastic side, loose of corners, bad view angles etc....
We see all bad things about Transformers since we are looking for it...But XOOM got all same **** guys...
Loving my transformer. An awesome platform for tinkering too. I have mine dual booting ubuntu/android via lilstevie's work.
It seems to human nature to dwell on the bad things!
I have had my Transformer & dock for about a week now and don't know what all the fuss has been about it is the best thing i have bought for a while. Just the whole thing with the tab & dock when you want it or to top up battery is a win win!
If you have a Costco membership, you can buy it online, use it for up to 90 days and return it to a local store (if you have issues)
I don't condone returning something if its not broke or just cause something better came out!

Be advised you will also have to unlock which voids warranty in order to get CWR and install ROMS ect....

it will be awesome if it gets jelly bean in august
Why did you wait until the 27th day?
I got this tablet a few days ago, I think I will root it ASAP. I like the tablet a lot, but cannot stand the MTP mode. Hopefully rooting will get around that. Any one know if I am stuck with MTP?

I just wanted to get a feel for it first and make sure there were no defects or blemishes that would require a return OR warranty claim before chancing that by unlocking, I would be voiding the warranty as ASUS states.
BestBuy has the 30day return policy so I got brave and did the "Unlock" just a few days prior to that running out figuring if something went wrong, I would possibly still have a couple days to return it to them. (I know this wouldn't have been politically correct - just my thoughts...)

still better to run it and check, sometimes you can repair dead pixels as the app runs a variety of colours to force the dead pixel to become alive

Looking for recommendation on buying one of these

I keep seeing these things go for less than $50 on Ebay, all of them stuck in recovery or at the Acer logo, etc. I'm looking at snapping one up since it's praised soy well on here.
What do you guys think?
What are my chances of unbricking it?
Some are almost new condition.
I figure for $50 or less I can always take out and sell the digitizer, LCD, battery and get most of my money back. Or I could buy one of the cracked ones and get one good one still for under $100.
Any questions I should ask the seller?
Also any good recommendations for a keyboard and case in 1?
I'm pretty experienced with the whole rooting/ flashing scene, but I don't even try developing.
Thanks in advance, though I'll hit the thanks button too.
Sent from my SGH-T679 using Tapatalk
Yep some of them can be unbricked but you'll probably need the cpuid for that... some of them could have dodgy chip issue, only a new mobo will fix those ones....
Might wanna have a good read thru the guides in my sig specially the first two - things are done quite differently on the Acer compared to other android devices.
Don't think u can go too wrong grabbing one or two of these tabs as long as you're fully aware of the pitfalls...someone was saying new mobos on eBay for 50$...u could go into Acer refurb bizzo...as far as I know there have been no other reports of hardware failure other than the chip issue
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
A new MB on eBay will also be anywhere from $60-80, so for the initial $50 + new MB, you'll have a pretty decent 10.1" tablet for ~$125 + 20-30 minutes of elbow grease that will run JB, ICS, or a couple of flavors of Unix. I love it because it has a grown-up USB port for an external drive (I load movies on a 2.5" SATA drive and carry it in my briefcase).

Man, wish I was in the States to pick up on some of these! Could un-brick them, then re-sell them on the Moscow Market for a couple hundred!!!!!!
The 500/501 is basically bullet-proof, unless you physically corrupt the internal memory. And that only happens in a small percentage.
The UID can be obtained via a linux environment. But with all unbricking methods, some work where others don't. And sometimes you have to have a little indepth knowledge of android and linux.
Once that's done, just a matter of finding the sweet spot.
MD
I have no knowledge to unbrick or repair one of these wonderful tablets. Had it not be that way I'd buy one without any doubt.
