I have to post here because of the 10 post thing, but I have installed CM10 v2 and it was working great, but now my wifi will not stay connected. Authenticating, obtaining IP then saved. Rinse and repeat. Not sure what happened. Any ideas???
I have this error often with my various devices (rooted RAZR M, 4.0.4//unrooted TF201). My problem arises with FoxFi and some public networks. A simple restart of the phone should work, if not, try restarting your home network, too.

As of last night im no longer able to use barnacle, wireless tether, or open garden. I've been running EF 3.6 since its release and just a week ago barnacle worked fine. Now when I connect it continues to say nat down and restarts. The only thing I can of is maybe I updated barnacle and its glitchy but that wouldn't explain why the other two aren't working. Out of ideas, and Im wondering if a noob like me can get some answers.

Have you tried restarting your phone? It could be that the WiFi is in a screwed up state. Enabling and then disabling wifi in Settings might also be able to sort it out.
Yeah I've restarted and reset wifi multiple times to no resolve. I think ill just wait until there is another update for barnacle then see what happens. Like I said though it still doesn't explain the other two not working. Any more suggestions though? I hate it when something works then stops for unexplaniable reasons...

This is exactly what it says when I try barnacle. Nat:restart: network is down. Waiting for uplink interface....and when I try garden or wifi tether it lets me connect my laptop with win 7 (the only device I've been trying) and everything looks fine but no data is transferred. Soo weird.

Barnacle works fine for me, neither wifi tether nor open garden do. I know that doesn't help you resolve the issue, but it may hint that the issue isn't with the barnacle version.
Im thinking most of the success people have with OG/WT are on different phones or a previous version. I tried to install an earlier version of both and it told me that I had insufficient space which was complete bs. When I tried the latest version it locks up constantly and apparently hates it when you try to change a setting while the wifi is activated.

Hi those on xda. I've stumbled upon some issues lately on my defy. My phone only connects to open wifi networks. And when I'm at work. Its password protected. Ill enter the password. And it will say obtaining IP address. Then quit and say remembered. It even does this on my home wifi. Its kinda frustrating since I need since i use it so much. Any help? I tried clearing the caches. No luck.

You may want to try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22765367&postcount=6
Hope it'll work.

I can't make sense of this. My phone (dinc2) running jb connects to the wifi no problem, but my nexus refuses to connect. It tries and cycles through authenticating, saved, connecting... But can't make it. My nook color had the same problem.
The router is an apple airport or whatever, and the security is wpa2.
Off topic....how are you running jb on your dinc2?

Because Aeroevan is totally rad and was able to get it running. Still some minor bugs but its been my daily for months
OK this is really pissing me off. Everyone time I go on my nexus device it doesn't automatically connect to the WiFi.. I have to either disable the WiFi and reenable it. Or just click on my network and click connect (it says its saved but doesn't automatically connect when I turn on my device), i tried everything from forgetting every saved network, restarting me device, ect, and its not my routers problem, my DNA connects automatically when I turn it on. Any of you guys had this problem? If so what did you do to fix it?

what router? My nexus 7 is fine and so is my sgs1.
No idea what router I have but that's not the problem, problem is that when I turn on my nexus and get passed the lockscreen, the WiFi would normaly automatically connect. It for some reason stopped doing that and it gets really annoying manually connecting

You could try a different channel on your router

Hi,
I share the same problem. Upon a reboot, it will work normally for a while.
Once they symptoms starts, it will refuse to connect most of the time. When it does connect, it will disconnect within a couple of minutes. WPS wont respond either. toggle wifi/airplane mode does not work either.
The only way is to reboot.
However, I did have some findings but couldnt get it fixed! Do this and test if it works for you as well:
Go to terminal (needs to be rooted device):
Simply select the "Take wifilock/B]" option and it will stay connected!
Release it and it will get disconnected and back to the same issue.
Hopefully some experts can give us some pointers?
Temporary fix
I have the same problem. This is what i did to fix it: Settings- Wifi settings- advanced- switch always on to Never, reboot in recovery, clear cache, reboot your device and go back and turn Wifi back to Always on. this is a temporary fix because if you reboot or shutdown your device, you will need to redo the steps. this is a known problem with google's 4.2 jellybean. we need an update soon!
hope it helps you.
Thanks for your help

It won't be much comfort to you, but remember that "it takes two to tango".
Yeah, there's IEEE standards for all of this stuff. Do interop problems still happen? All the frigging time, every day. Sure it is maddening.
And sometimes the problems only manifest themselves with an exact pair of firmware(s) releases between the AP and the client device. I had a WiFi router that would gladly talk to four or five unique types of devices; on the sixth - an Android phone - it would associate & authenticate successfully, but the client device would never get an IP address.
That sure sounds like a problem with the phone, doesn't it?
How did I fix the problem? I upgraded the firmware ... on the router !
Sometimes problems with intermittent connections can be rectified by fooling with things that you might think have no bearing on the problem. For instance, some routers will accept connections in A/B/G/N mode. Do you need all of those? If not, simplify your router's behaviors by disabling non-essential features, e.g. select G-only or N-only.
That's just an example - but the point is that the fewer behaviors either of the devices engage in, the lower the probability that the bug which is shared between them will get expressed.
So, you can either fool around with both devices, only one of them - changing one setting at a time to see if that alters the behavior you observe, or you can throw one device away and start all over with new combinations of devices. The router probably has more knobs which can be turned than the phone does (unless it's not your router, or you don't control it).
Good luck
Hello, guys.
Help me please with my tethering problem.
I own Droid Razr M for two months and after buying it I did a rooting procedure.
Everything went fine, I've turned off entitlement_check and WiFi tethering worked.
After that moment I didn't check tethering. But today I realized that it is not working:
neither Bluetooth nor Wifi tethering.
Other devices are able to connect, dns-retrieving works, but data is not routed! (on Razr M I can access EDGE internet).
I've tried lot of tethering apps - none of them worked. But WiFi Tether with 'Generic ICS wlan0' worked!!!
I am on 4.0.4 firmware and I never upgraded (because new fw doesn't contain 'mass storage' 'connect as' feature).
Help me, please. What should I do to make both tethering work without using third-party applicaitons? I'm sure that is possible...
I sometimes have this problem as well. If I manually select a channel it starts working again. Not a permanent fix but it will maybe get you going again.
