I can't make sense of this. My phone (dinc2) running jb connects to the wifi no problem, but my nexus refuses to connect. It tries and cycles through authenticating, saved, connecting... But can't make it. My nook color had the same problem.
The router is an apple airport or whatever, and the security is wpa2.
Off topic....how are you running jb on your dinc2?

is anyone having wifi issues where games disconnect and downloads have to be restarted alot?
Its neva happened to me using wifi, are you using other things at the same time? PS3? PC? I know my xbox tends to disconnect if im downloading somthing on the pc

Having the same issue
I don't have to be downloading anything, the phone could just be sitting there and the WIFI disconnects even with a app like SKYPE running in the back ground. My current internet is 20 meg down with 4 meg up and of all the devices this is the only one that disconnects or has any kind of connection issues.
Happens about 10 times a day. So annoying

Yes, I get this with my PLAY.
No other devices have this problem in my house. Stable connection that is on all the time.
Really annoying in Rainbow 6, particulary since it doesn't seem to save your stats with you disconnect because of a Wi-Fi droput.
Also sometimes have problems when it comes out of sleep mode, have to turn off wifi, then on again on the PLAY.
Very annoying.
Could it be to do with the security settings on your routers? Mines set to WPA2 PSK with a 13 character password and its never dropped connection. Or could it be the make of your routers? Mines a Netgear router. If a few people post there setup maybe we can find a similarity between them and find out if it's the phone, router, setup or all of them that's the problem.

The distance you are to the router makes a big difference. I think the wifi receiver on the play is weaker then other devices.

Yes. I havent updated yet, I'm hoping that 2.3.3 will fix it.
It says I'm connected yet stops working. I have to turn off the wi-fi then turn it back on to get it working again.

I have the same security on mine. The router is wireless n from my provider. It ie a router modem in one.
I did back when I was on 2.3.2. It was so annoying. I could have 2 computers, an iPad, and my Play connected to the same router and only the Play would disconnect continually.
adb shove iPad2post.apk to /forum/thread
I have the same problem with 2.3.3 the wifi just keep disconnecting is really annoying. Does any one know if this is a bug or a real design or hardware problem that wont be fixed wit updates?
It's wifi range isn't as far reached as other devices.

So I have noticed that as of late, when connecting to some access points, my xoom takes an excessivly long time scanning and authenticating the network, and will not connect. Other times it will connect in the correct fashion. I have verified pass code and IP settings. Anyone have advice?

I have seen the same thing on exactly one other wifi hotspot, while traveling. I thought it might be something in the way that the AP was configured due to the fact that my 1.6 phone would not connect either while my wife's Win7 netbook connected immediately. I thought that they must not ike Android.
Its possible the routers were out of IPs to assign. A common problem I find in hotels is that they set really long, or indefinate lease times and people come and go and they run out of IPs to assign.

I think you may be on to it there.... the times I notice odd behavior is when a significant number of devices are connected...

Hi,
im on the official Nexus S ICS update (OTA) but since then my Nexus S always crashes my Dlink dir-657 router.
Is there anyone else with this problem?
I'm pritty sure its the Nexus on ICS because i tryed this numeroes times.
What do you mean with crashes? Router restarts?
I have DIR-825 and no problem with either stock OTA or custom ICS
Hahah no. I device that connects to a router would not make it crash. You have most likely installed it poorly. Call geek squad.!

I've had something which may be a similar experience.
On my old HTC tattoo, connecting via wi-fi would cause problems with other devices on the network. The instant I connect with my tattoo, other devices would get an error message and have "No internet access" on their wifi connection. I'd need to hard reset the router in order for other devices to connect again.
Just reset the router.. or try another Kernel?
I resetted the router multiple times, this morning i had problems again. After switching on and of the router all was fine again. But im not planning every time i use my Nexus s on wifi switching on and of the router!
Im pretty sure i had this problems with my previous router to. But i changed him for this model
Now i know it wasn't the router.
Anyway as soon i turn on wifi on the nexus s my router crash.
Set up a static IP on the phone and reserve an internal IP on the router. Sounds like a dhcp issue.

Actually he isn't the only one my dlink router crashes too it has something to do with the internals of the nexus s connect with the "n draft" if you switch to "g" it won't crash but the nexus s has had this issue since the beginning although I will say I have only experienced this a couple of times after the ICS update

Thanks for this reply, im trying to switch to "g" and see if it happens again.
the only problem with switching to "g" is that, you may experience slow downs while trying to transfer files over your network or trying to stream HD in between devices on the network. Its a price you have to pay
I've definitely encountered this before with my dlink router as well. I've attributed it to a buggy ath9k driver that's been included with openwrt 10.03. It's improved over time as more ath9k patches have made it into the source, but still happens from time to time when the nexus is using wireless. Other devices don't cause it to happen.
I solved IT ... just put wifi protection on aes only

I'm having the same issue, how to set it on AES only?
Go in to router settings - wifi section - Look in this section to switch from tkip/aes to aes only

Ha! I had this happen to me yesterday. It was effed up. I connected my phone to wifi and then my router went all "I don't want to work anymore". It did work after a hard reset, but I just think its interesting seeing this post today. Anyway, you are not alone!

Hi everyone, my dad has a Xoom on ics (official) 4.0.3 and it keeps dropping wifi connection. I tried static IP, dmz, and no difference. Wifi is working fine on my laptop, Motorola defy, HTC espresso, BB bold, etc. Any ideas? Router is a netgeat n600 wndr3700. Thanks!

I'm having a similar issue. I was using Skype for a video call and my wifi would drop every 15 minutes (or so). My phone would still be connected as well as my laptop. I noticed on my Xoom the wifi would completely drop a connection and then reconnect within 60 seconds. I've noticed at other times it seems to happen around once a day. I'm using a Linksys 600N dual band router but my Xoom is connected to the G band and not the N band. Hope we can find something that might fix this.

yeah i have the same issue when trying to stream anything from bbc iplayer. and im sure it isnt my isp because i am on a 50mb package.
I noticed this issue once my second xoom that arrived today registered to my network. I thought there was a conflict of some sort, so i just assigned each xoom their own individual IP via my routers Address Reservation feature. The problem is still there, but less often. Went from losing connection every few minutes, to every few hours or so.
Alright I'll try that

This is strange. Last night I went over to a friend's house and brought my Xoom along. While there I tried to go online with no success, although the lap top and my phone picked up the router signal. On the other hand my Xoom showed no wifi signal and wouldn't even scan for one. Came home the next morning and all is good with the Xoom's wifi scan and connections. There are times when my Xoom will not find a wifi signal right away but will find one later. I'm on nightly #81.
This is what I did to fix this, yrmv:
On my router I changed it from "mixed a/b/g/n" to "n only" and I have had a steady connection on both xooms for the past two days.

The WNDR3700 is a piece of crap. I had the exact same router and it caused me all kind of trouble.
I solved my problems by installing openwrt on it. Every device on my home worked perfectly instantly.
So, I'm deployed right now and I got the N7 3G specifically so I could tether to my computer and phone. After getting the device and realizing that it did not have native tether I rooted it and flashed it with the image(?) I found here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1995737
Everything went smoothly and I thought I was good 2 go. When I attempt to log on with my devices I get a IP address conflict. My computer (WIN7) is smart enough to manually assign itself an IP and connect to the internet but nothing else will. It's driving me nuts. Obviously, I can only imagine that it is something to do with the DHCP. I would have posed this question on that thread but based on not having posted before I did not have the permissions. Thank anyone ahead of time for any help.
Still no luck. I've reapplied everything multiple times and nothing. I've also flashed the monoco(?) rom hoping that their tether would work but nothing. Only thing I haven't done is factory restore and start from scratch. This is really sucking. I'm looking for any suggestions. I'm sure 90% are more experienced then I am with this. I have absolutely no programing knowledge.

Hmmm. Yea its DHCP from your Nexus handing out IPs. I'm not sure what your DHCP RANGE is but it should be a pool of about 10 IPs. If your Range is only set to 1, then it will only hand out one.
Oddly there aren't any options on my Galaxy Nexus (I don't have a 3G N7).
What I would do is take your other devices and tap and hold on your tethered WiFi network and select forget. Disconnect everything completely and forget all settings. Change your WiFi Tethered name.
Try to connect one at a time before moving to the next. The devices keep the connection settings in memory and will try to use the old IP address they used before.
This could also be a bug with the tether section also. Most roms share the same development features.
